Daricka "Wildfire" Cambar

Before Daricka could even reach the prisoners, Dark Lightning was pulling the hood off of the one that appeared to a be a Lucario. A feeling of dread filled her as all of the prisoners disappeared, leaving only the Typhlosion. The Inferno removed his hood and attacked Dark Lightning and Hoodhide with devastating fire attacks. The dread transformed itself into intense anger as she realized that Roswell had tricked them, though the only sign of this emotion was a furrowing of the brow. Just then, the ground began to shake as Ancients started digging their way out, and it wasn't long before the Gold Tribe was surrounded by not only an army of Ancients, but three Sentinels to boot.

"What the hell is going on?!" Noctus shouted, seeming to be as taken off-guard as the Gold Tribe did.

"Can't you guess?" one of the Sentinels, Sentry, said. "The King of Thieves has delivered the Gold Tribe to us, just as promised. I've wanted to see the last of you hunted down and killed for many years now, and thanks to our deal with him, it seems that the day has finally arrived."

"Attack," The Inferno commanded, and all at once, the Ancients bore down on the Gold Tribe.

Daricka's first thought was to get to either Hoodhide or Dark Lightning. With the hit they took from The Inferno, they would need help. However, just as she was attempting to battle her way through the Ancients to the area she had last seen her two brothers, TrueStriker appeared next to her. After quickly wiping out a few of the Ancients closest to them, he grabbed her arm and they both disappeared in a flash, only to appear by Noctus. The Gallade grabbed onto Noctus, and once again the three of them teleported away, though this time Daricka wasn't sure where they ended up.

"We're between two forests, don't move. No way I'm listening to Penance and leaving everyone but us three," TrueStriker said, then he was gone.

Daricka paced back and forth, showing rare signs of restlessness and anger that were becoming more and more difficult to conceal the stronger the emotions got. It didn't sit right with her that her brethren were fighting for there lives at this very moment, and she was stuck Arceus knows where wondering what was going to happen to them. Finally, she stopped and turned her piercing glare to Noctus and growled, "Did you know that this was what Roswell had planned?"

The flow of ancients began to slow from one of the holes, but the ground continued to shake. Suddenly, an explosion of sand burst forth from the hole and began to whip around the battlefield. From the dispersing sand cloud, a fearsome beast could be seen. A Tyranitar with a scar through his eye and blood on his hands had emerged from the hole.

Sovereign was relieved. He had been waiting in that hole for hours with nothing to eat but dirt. He was ready to fight. He knew his sandstorm would cause confusion and give him a chance to choose his opponent, without damaging the Ancients. As he looked out upon the battlefield he could see Inferno and Sentry had already gotten started. He could hear them talking about something but he was too busy looking for a good fight to listen. Suddenly he spotted something that made him smile, a dragon. Perfect.

He watched the Salemence fight off ancients and knock Sentry back with a Fire Blast. Sovereign began to charge in his direction, but before he could get there the Salemence took flight and started to fly away. No! Sovereign thought. I will have my fight! Sovereign then plunged his foot into the ground with great force. He picked up a sharp rock from the rubble and shouted, "Are you a coward, or a dragon!?" and threw the Stone Edge with great force at the fleeing dragon.

Thieves Forest- Ambush Site- 12 hours earlier

"I'm going to overlook things here for a bit, but I'll see you back in the village before you head out tomorrow." Roswell said, to which Zane nodded in response. A second later, they vanished, leaving Roswell to tend to the ambush. He sighed, and turned to the others. "Alright, we have work to do. Make those ditches bigger, and off to the sides, just as we talked about before."

The thieves immediately went to work. From Roswell's side came a Scizor, Drake "Sentry". "Good work." He said to him, but even in a compliment it sounded cold.

"This is all part of the deal, right? You give me your word?" Roswell asked. Sentry nodded.

"If you come through on your end, we will come through on ours. If the Gold Tribe is led into our ambush, the Silver Tribe will leave Eden Forest alone for all of our reign. You are free to live in your dirthole all your want. We will also free your brother from the Silver City torturehouse. You do realize though, that those thieves who you do send with the Gold Tribe apart of the plan are doomed to die with them, though, right?"

Roswell nodded as he contained his obvious anger at the Sentinel as he strode off to observe the plan coming together. He was doing this for the lives of the thousands in the forest. And for his brother who dwelled in the worst of Silver City. He had to remember that.

******************************************************************

Thieves Forest- Ambush Site

Lyn was slowly encircled by Ancients, and with the rest of her brothers and sisters scattered across the pass, she began to fight them off as best she could. She rammed into a set of them with a Tackle, forcing hem back, only for more to go in after her from behind, including a Bastiodon and Omastar. She slashed at the Omaster, while using her claws to crush at the Bastiodon. Both enemies fell, but were replaced with more. The ones she originally tackled also came to and got back up.

The Inferno strode towards the others, ready to do battle with them. The Salamence Ragnaros just then released a wave of water pressured to the extreme at the Typhlosion. However, the Inferno recognized his weakness, but nevertheless met it. He matched the water attack with his own Hyper Beam, and the two collided momentarily, before erupting in an explosion of energy. The Inferno looked around for the same target, only to see that he had moved on in the confusion of the attacks.

Speculum meanwhile transformed into a Grovyle, one of his usual disguises, and launched a Leaf Blade at a Kabutops, who took the impact head on in a foolish move to try to launch a head on hit to Speculum, only to fall prematurely. An Aerodactyl swooped in from the sky, but quick thinking and a Razor Leaf saved Speculum from an aerial assault, and caused the Aerodactyl to cry out in pain. Three more Ancients surrounded Speculum, who decided to use a Leaf Storm to hold them off. The three were taken down, but only more took their place. Speculum groaned and continued to fight, only to see in his peripheral vision that Scar was closeby, and closing in fast. Even for a Gold Tribe member, the slight fear of having to face a Sentinel one-on-one was a bit too much for him to handle, and he elected to retreat to a further portion of the battle, deeper inside the center.

Lyn got a slight break as she forced another group of Ancients to the ground around her. She panted heavily as she took a look around. Speculum made a few jumps back as he fired as he backed up, appearing to try to elude the Sentinel Scar while still fighting the Ancients. Defender was not too far away, but he looked like he was in very bad shape. Lyn wouldn't let that happen. Not yet. She rammed forward at a group of Ancients in the way, flinging them around with a tackle. She then slashed the back of a Bastiodon, and used a Crush Claw on a nearby Cradily. Two additional Armaldo now charged at her, but she used her quick reflexes and agility to jump over their attacks and continue forward. After a few more strides, she was close to Defender, who seemed on the verge of collapse. She grabbed hold of him and shook him.

"Hey!" She yelled at him. "No you don't! Not yet. We're not losing anyone else!" She shook his body violently so he could stay with him.

Speculum came to them, close from the other side, and Ragnaros came forward to Lyn as well. Lyn looked around again. Hoodhide lay a while away, unable to be reached, but the Ancients seeming not to pay him any more mind. Lyn couldn't even see Dark Lightning's position anymore, mostly because of the large amount of Ancients in the way. The Inferno and Sentry just finished off what she believed to be the last group of thieves in the area.

'It's no use fighting them, get on my back and we'll find the rest!' Ragnaros yelled to them. Lyn looked off to try to get a look at Wildfire or Noctus's position. They were gone. Calamity was nowhere to be seen. She looked over at where TrueStriker was. Gone as well. The three Sentinels, no, now four it seemed, as a Tyranitar made his entrance as well, someone Lyn was familiar with as a 9th Sentinel. She turned to Ragnaros and smiled.

"There is no one else, brother." She said, and ran forward, right at the Inferno, attempting to take him on head on. Ragnaros began to be entangled with the Tyranitar, and Speculum turned to face Sentry. He was frightened, but his duty overpowered his fear, and he went forward at him, launching a Razor Leaf at the Sentinel. But Sentry was too fast, using Agility to maneuver around, and slicing at Speculum with a slash of his claws. Speculum doubled back, injured, but refusing to give up.

Scar walked right in front of Defender. "You...I recall you back at the torturehouse...." he said, eyeing the Golduck. "I let you escape last time. But not this time." He said, as he ran forward at the Golduck, attempting a Close Combat on him.

**********************************************************

Thieves Forest- The Decreement

Before Zane could give any real response, Hanso burst through the front doors, and approached inside the Decreement. Roswell gave a slight look of confusion, as did Zane, but both of their confusion were for different reasons.

"TrueStriker? What are you doing here? Have you already rescued the brother? Where are the others?" Zane asked him, bewildered. While Gladius, Dryad and Zane all faced him, Roswell made a slight signal with his hands, and slowly and very inconspicuously, thieves started gathering at them, slowly but surely.

**********************************************************

Soverign Rainforest, Liberty Forest

Noctus opened his eyes a moment later, to see himself gone from the battle, with only the Gallade and the Infernape there with him.

"We're between two forests, don't move. No way I'm listening to Penance and leaving everyone but us three." Noctus didn't even get a chance to protest as he disappeared before he got the chance. Noctus was shocked, still unsure of exactly what happened. Some blood tickled down his side from a hit he took on the battle, but he didn't even bother to pay it any mind.

"Did you know that this was what Roswell had planned?" Wildfire asked Noctus. Noctus lifted his eyes up to her, unable to say.

"N-no, I didn't! I...I don't understand...any of this. Why? Why would he do this? He knew...he knew we were going to be there with you, but they attacked us anyways....did he plan this? I don't get...I don't understand..."

Ragnaros 'Bloodthirster' Phylax

The Zangoose turned to Bloodthirster and smiled; the dragon momentarily wondered where she found the courage to smile. Speculum and Defender were also nearby - the sight of his allies soothed his soul.

"There is no one else, brother." Lyn said and ran towards the Inferno; Bloodthirster caught Speculum in his Grovyle form charging at Sentry. He admired their courage, the courage of the Gold Tribe that was joining together to boost his. No. We're not alone. Just then, a message from Hanso arrived.
Try to get to the place between Liberty Forest and the Sovereign Rainforest. If you can't get there in a week or two, you and Lyn do what you want.

Hanso, things've changed - I can't get them out of the fight. You probably should stay with Vigil...

Both of his friends were fighting with Sentinels, and so would Bloodthirster. He prepared to take off, to meet the last Sentinel on the battlefield, Scar. But just as he was launching himself from the ground, a wave of dust hit him; he heard a rambling sound from the ground behind him.

"Are you a coward, or a dragon!?"

The voice was heard and the sound of sharp rocks being flinged in the air resonated in Bloodthirster's ears. Keeping his calm, he tumbled in the air and swinged his hole body, smashing his tail againist the rock which was shattered. He eyed the one who had called him coward - a Tyranitar... he recognized the Sentinel Sovereign in his face. Little was known about him, but Bloodthirster was sure about one thing: he was one of the most powerful Pokemon in the region. The thought of him being unable to stand up to him did not even cross his mind; he was instead thinking that he now had a Sentinel to keep busy, and that his taunts surely had no effect on his pride.

The second Bloodthirster spent evaluating his enemy seemed like an eternity, but it soon passed and the dragon's entire body ignited in blue and red flames, inducing the dragon's rush into his blood stream. He charged againist the Tyranitar with the golden emblem flashing on his tail, launching a brutal assault, a series of vigorous but precise hits with his claws.

Sovereign watched as the Salenence turned in response to his challenge. The reaction time was impressive as the dragon whipped his tail to deflect the stones. It paused for a moment, then erupted as a mass of red and blue flames and charged Sovereign.

Sovereign took the full force of the attack. He hadn't felt this rush since his fight with Auron. He smiled and unleashed a vortex of dark energy from his palm as Payback for the attack he had just endured.

"I am Sovereign of the Silver Tribe Sentinels. Tell me your name so we can properly begin our battle."

Penance 'Defender' Malum

Penace was about to fade out when he felt something shaking him. He blinked open his eyes a bit in surprise to see Guardia. "Don't you get it? We lost." He said flatly. "We didn't see this coming a mile away. We have been betrayed most thoroughly and we didn't see it..." Penance looked down. He felt so.... empty. He had tried so hard to prevent something like this... but he had failed. He had failed everyone. The thieves, his brothers, his sisters. All of them would die now because of him and how he couldn't so much as think up this possibility! It was just like.... then.... He really didn't have time to react as he was thrown back a bit as a familiar Mienshao hit him with a Close Combat. Something cracked in Penance's head as he began to chuckle and soon was laughing loudly as he staggered up and smiled at Scar. "Oh... you have no idea, do you?"

He got onto his feet as he clutched as his chest, that same smile on his bill. "Do you really thing you will survive? You have so much power.... but that is nothing to Auron's." He smiled innocently as some more chuckles left his mouth, "Oh, you're out here doing his dirty work. He's gathering power.... now, hypothetical question, the Gold Tribe is wiped out, we're all slain. Think about it, what happens next? You Silver Tribe.... you all want power...." He chuckled as he slowly staggered forward, "You all want the same thing.... you want power.... so, you want it for yourself. You all start to get... crazy ideas. Well, not so crazy, but... ideas you never had before. Ideas of grandeur. Suddenly, everyone begins to think... and you realize the Sentinel next to you is weak.... very weak. So weak you can snap his neck quite easily. Then slowly, but surely you are all whittled away until only two remain." He slowly got closer, "You and Auron. As he looks down at you... you realize that you are alone. Thoroughly alone. No one to help you, no one to be there, and it all... starts... here." He was right before the Mienshao and grabbed his hand and held it to his own throat. "Go ahead, squeeze the life out of me. Slaughter me like so many others. Cast aside everything... only to lose everything you have left."

He smiled at the Mienshao and looked very calm. "Go ahead, crush my throat and end yourself now. Start down a road you can never recover from.... or.... you could already get an edge." His grin grew wider and he lowered his voice so only the Mienshao could hear him, "Let the other two die. Abandon them.... let them get slaughtered. Less work on your part. Let the other Sentinels die one by one. My brothers and sisters will do that. Go and gather allies, you'll need them... or you can just blindly continue on and face your eventual demise, your choice. Think about it. I myself have nothing to lose, either I stay here or I go to see my mother, win win for me." Penance closed his eyes as he awaited what the Mienshao would do.

As Hanso entered the Decreement, he saw Zane, Dryad, Sword and Shield, and Roswell. Zane and Roswell both looked confused. "TrueStriker? What are you doing here? Have you already rescued the brother? Where are the others?" Zane asked Hanso, bewildered.

Glancing over at Roswell, Hanso's eyes burned with anger. "Full explanation later," he replied, walking over to the three Gold Tribe members. "It's enough to know that we never should've trusted Roswell in the first place." Turning back to face the Lucario, Hanso folded his arms, his arm-blades unsheathed. "No brother being escorted. No prisoner, in fact. Give me one good reason why I shouldn't pummel you into the ground for what you did."
Hadn't Lyn said that the residents of the Thieves' Forest hated the Silver Tribe more than they hated the Gold Tribe? If that was true, then why would the King of Thieves make a deal with the Silver Tribe? Wouldn't the Sentinels and Ancients begin to pick off thieves if the Gold Tribe was wiped out?

"On second thought, don't bother right now." Hanso backed up until he was between the other three Gold Tribe members. Focusing on Roswell and preparing to teleport meant that he didn't pay much attention to his surroundings. "Have one ready next time we meet." Thinking back to the battle, Hanso thought that perhaps he could try to teleport more of the Gold Tribe out of there anyways.

Ragnaros 'Bloodthirster' Phylax

Bloodthirster took a step back as the dark force hit him; it was certainly powerful, but he could take way more. He bared his fangs and stared intently at his opponent as he spoke, with the fire in his feet still burning.

'I am Sovereign of the Silver Tribe Sentinels. Tell me your name so we can properly begin our battle.'

The Salamence started laughing sarcastically. A Sentinel wanting to fight like a true warrior?

'Ragnaros Phylax, known as Bloodthirster in the ranks of the Gold Tribe.'

His loud, thunderous voice was filled with pride as he introduced himself. He said nothing else as he focused on the Sentinel, charging forward once again.

The Salamence was laughing. What does he think is so funny. "Ragnaros Phylax, known as Bloodthirster in the ranks of the Gold Tribe." Perfect. Sovereign was ready for a fight and after waiting for hours wanted it to be a good one. He knew he had made the right choice.

"So much pride! Now I'll make you eat dirt!" Then they charged at each other. Sovereign bared his teeth, readying himself to Crunch into Bloodthirster's shoulder.

He now knew that all the waiting was worth it. Sovereign would taste blood this day.

The Joint Post, Sovereign x Bloodthirster

"So much pride! Now I'll make you eat dirt!"

Bloodthirster ignored his taunt once again, focusing his senses on the battle. They collided with a nasty sound and the Tyranitar immediately landed his fangs deep into his shoulder. He roared in pain as blood dripped out; the brimming fire on his claws grew bigger with his rage as he tried to impale his opponent in the gut. The tips of his claws managed to pierce Sovereign's armor just enough to make him release his jaws. Sovereign jumped back. He wasn't a tactical genius but he wasn't stupid.

Sovereign saw some of the Ancients begin to move in to attack Bloodthirster. "Stay out of my way! I will not have you ruining our fight!" He then slammed his feet into the ground causing an earthquake. It had taken out all the Ancients in the immediate vicinity. "There. Now no one will get in our way" he said as he rushed the dragon with a stone in hand.

Bloodthirster got up on his two back feet, leaning forwards as Sovereign jumped back the moment his claws pierced through his armour. Ancients moved towards him, but the Tyranitar took immediate action.

"Stay out of my way! I will not have you ruining our fight!" He caused an earthquake by slamming his feet on the ground, causing it to crack, taking out the ancients nearby. A slight grin unfolded on the Salamence's face.
He doesn't want to kill me, he just wants to fight, he thought as he eyed the Sentinel.

"There. Now no one will get in our way" Sovereign charged again with a stone in hand; Bloodthirster's body was ignited in sacred flames in a dragon rush. He spread his massive wings, ignoring the pain on his shoulder and the next moment, he rushed towards the Tyranitar, flying right above the ground at high speed.

The two collided with massive force. Sovereign became engulfed in the flames and could barely see his target.
Blood. He shoved the rock as hard as he could into the patch of blood in an attempt to take advantage of the opening he had created in Bloodthirster's hide. The Salamence grunted and took a step back as the stone pierced through his body, leaving a huge wound on his back. With his body still in flames, Bloodthirster tried to impale Sovereign with his claws on the exact same spot he struck the last time, where his armour had been pierced.

Bloodthirster's claws dug into Sovereign's armor, cracking the area around the injury. The pain was intense as his blood began to pump harder. "Do you know why I'm a Sentinel? I wasn't with the others when they traveled into the wilderness." His eyes began to turn yellow. "Me and you are more alike than you know, Bloodthirster." Sovereign became surrounded in a brilliant blue aura that seemed to radiate from his body. "I am a Sentinel because of my heritage!" The earth began to shake as dark energy crackled through the air. "Dragon's blood runs through my veins, Bloodthirster! It gives me strength!" He roared as he forced the dragon back with enormous force. "I'm going to crush you!"

The dragon backed off, recognizing the effects of the outrage - one of the most powerful techniques used only by the dragons, or those who had their blood running in their veins. He was well aware he could not compete with this tremendous force Sovereign was deploying; but he was known for his ability to improvise during a fight. Ragnaros decided to go all out as the Tyranitar was approaching again. He gathered his energy and unleashed a hydro pump with extreme pressure towards his opponent.

Sovereign was hit full force by the stream of water, but it did not phase him. He clearly was taking damage, but he felt no pain as he pushed through, inching closer as he resisted the force of the water. He tightened his fist slugged Bloodthirster as hard as he could in the face through the water. His mind was filled with nothing but thoughts of violence, and blood lust was in his eyes as he let out another roar.

The Salamence cut the hydro pump as Sovereign bashed his head. He let out a massive roar as he backed off even more; his final stand was over and the Tyranitar was standing above him. His claws ignited once again, but he didn't seem like he would attack his opponent.

'Go on and finish me. At least I'll have the honour of dying like a warrior. But when you Sentinels are done fighting us, who'll you be fighting then?'

Sovereign stared down at his opponent, his mind filled with rage.
Do it! He knew this voice. He hadn't heard it for years. Kill him! It was his father's voice. But how? His father was dead. Feed your blood lust! He tightened his fist and began to strike!

Next thing he knew, he was lying on the ground next to Bloodthirster. The outrage had ended and the hydro pump caught up to him. His head was throbbing. "Heh... Heheh... Aaahahahaha!" He burst out laughing. He hadn't had a fight that good in a long time. "Tell me something Ragnaros. Why do you fight for them? You seem so different from the others."

Bloodthirster blinked in surprise and looked at Sovereign next to him. He filled his lungs with air and tried to ease up the pain on his shoulder and head. The battle he just went through was the most intense of his life. Thoughts of the Gold Tribe and the Alpha Alliance begun circling around his mind. Bloodthirster knew that if Sovereign wanted to finish him off, he would call the ancients.

'It's easier to fight for a good cause. I may have different methods than the others in the Gold Tribe, but my ideals are the same,' he said and subtly flapped his wings. He could fly away, ignoring the pain, but he chose to stay a little longer. 'But I'm not going to explain all that... and you? Why do you fight for them? What do you find in the Silver Tribe that's so attracting to you?'

Sovereign pondered a moment. "Auron saved me from myself. I found purpose in joining him. I have much respect for him. I swore my allegiance to fight for his cause. Even if I wanted to leave the Silver Tribe, I cannot break my promise. I owe him too much." His head began to clear as he stood up. "I cannot guarantee the safety of your friends, but you should escape while you can. It would be a shame for an honorable warrior like yourself to end up dying in a place like this, or wind up in one of those disgusting torture houses. It's not fitting for one like you..." He paused for a moment. His sandstorm had subsided some time ago from the look of things.

Bloodthirster took a moment to think - the Sentinel was letting him go. Is he on our side? But he had no objections to Sovereign's decision. He eyed the Tyranitar as he got back onto his feet.

"I'd like to fight you again someday. So until we meet again," Sovereign turned his head to look back at Bloodthirster, "Try not to die!" He then unleashed another sandstorm being careful to aim it away from his new found rival as he moved on into the battlefield to check on his comrades.
I hope this is enough to prevent them noticing your escape, my friend. so long.

Ragnaros let out a laugh. I don't die too easily, fighting you again will be inevitable. He turned his head around, wondering what was that Sentinel was thinking. The dragon abruptly shook his head; he flapped his wings and kicked the ground, flying above the sandstorm.

Thieves Forest- The Decreement

Zane listened to TrueStriker silently. He didn’t give a detailed explanation, but from what he could gather, Roswell had betrayed them. He turned to Roswell, to see him with a cold expression, but beyond that nothing much. But it was enough for Zane to understand that what he was saying was true. Thoughts began racing into Zane’s head. What had he done? Had he just led his brothers and sisters to their deaths? His stomach lurched as he could only imagine what had happened.

Roswell had only to give a single signal to the rest of his thieves pouring in the top of the Decreement, and they would have attacked on sight. But as TrueStriker walked to the other three, he prepared to teleport. Roswell sighed and decided to let them go. He had done what the Sentinels had asked, and he wanted no further bother with any of them.

*******************************************************************

Thieves Forest- Ambush Site

Scar saw the Golduck fall to the ground, but as he staggered up, he was surprisingly smiling. He titled his head slightly, unsure of what had happened. “Did I miss something? Is there something you find amusing here?” Scar asked, visibly annoyed. Defender began to speak, and Scar was sure he must have been hit in the head or something, because what he began saying didn’t seem quite right. But the more he was saying, the more it actually began to worry him. The strange thing was that there seemed to be some accurate truth in what he said, right? No, that couldn’t be right. The Sentinels were a team, a team in their own right, but they showed affection differently.

“You’re insane.” Scar said. Just as he said thing, the Golduck brought his own neck to Scar’s hand. “What the hell are you doing?!”

Then, what he said next, actually made a bit of sense. If Scar took out the other two right now, things would be so much easier. He took a look at the ones to the right, fighting their own opponents, then back at Defender. Now it was him who was having trouble thinking. Two options were in his head, but an overpowering sensation of what would happen should Auron find out about this all suddenly filled him. There was genuine fear in his eyes as he thought, and shook his head. “You are insane.” He said again, lifting up his arms and preparing to strike. Just as he was about to land his blows, however, he was suddenly impacted from behind and flung away. It was Dark Lightning, standing shakily on his feet, panting heavily. On his back he carried Hoodhide, who was still unmoving, whether unconscious or dead, it was at that moment unsure.

Lyn took in a deep breath as she looked over her opponent, the Inferno. It was usually suicide to face a Sentinel alone, but given their current position, she didn’t have many other options. She decided to hit first, running at the Typhlosion. In an immediate reaction, the Inferno unleashed a Flamethrower. Lyn dodged left and right, using her swift legs and arms to keep out of the way of the intense heat. A bit of the Flamethrower barely passed over her head as she tried to close the gap, and even if she wasn’t hit, she could feel the intensity of the heat from the attack. She finally was close enough to launch her own attack, slashing him with her right claw. The Inferno made no attempt to dodge the attack, but instead seemed to take it. But despite Lyn’s renowned strength among the tribe, it looked like it hardly shook her opponent at all. Lyn then realized what he was doing, allowing her to come this close. The Inferno prepared his attack, and Lyn, in a last second ditch effort, used Agility to try to get out of there, but to no avail. The Inferno unleashed a Fire Blast, right directly at the area Lyn was in. Because of her quick thinking, she was able to escape the bulk of the attack, but it didn’t matter, as whatever remained was still enough to fling her back as if she was a doll. Lyn landed on the ground a few meters away, a burn mark developing on her arm. She clutched it, gritting her teeth in pain, but refused to get up. Lyn looked to see that the Inferno was already on his approach again, and began unleashing a torrent of Flamethrower directly at her. She moved as fast as she could, avoiding the attack as she encircled the battlefield, yet she could feel the heat catching up to her. Eventually, it caught her, and her entire body seared with pain. She was severely hurt, and fell to the ground with a thud. Lyn struggled to get up, unable to feel parts of her body from the attacks. The Inferno silently walked to Lyn’s body, as she continued to struggle. She made glances between her body and him, until he was right above her, the same cold demeanor on his face as he lifted his arm and prepared to finish her. She couldn’t understand it. How could one single Pokemon have so much power? It was unreal. The Inferno took in a breath, and all at once released an immense Blast Burn right in front of Lyn. In a last minute ditch effort, Lyn used her family’s signature Thunder barrier from the sky. Because of their close distance, as the Thunder past in between them, the very light of it flashed at Inferno’s eyes, causing him to temporarily be blinded by the attack. Lyn took this opportunity to retreat further away from this monster, running as best she could, while clutching her left arm, which hung lifeless at her side.

Speculum was having trouble, mostly even getting to Sentry, who kept leading him further away from the main portion of the battle, and by the time he realized what exactly he was doing, he had already begun his retreat back, and Sentry then sprang onto the attack, as well as dozens of nearby Ancients. Speculum unleashed a Razor Leaf upon them as he kept running back. He dared not even try to see the damage he caused, for fear of seeing how close Sentry was from behind. He knew the rumors. The fastest of the Sentinels. A Kabutops and Omastar were in from of him, and Speculum used a Leaf Blade on the two, trying to keep on running so that Sentry doesn’t get a chance to strike back. Making a mistake, Speculum decided to turn back to see how far away Sentry was, only not to see him at all. He found it strange, unsure of where the Sentinel went. Had he gone to pursue a different target? But as he turned in front again, he saw the Scizor right in front of him, and before he could parry at all, he was struck by a Crush Claw, and then again by another. Speculum tried to defend himself, but the attacks came at such a high velocity, that he was never given a chance. Strike after strike was hit by Sentry, until Speculum was too damaged and too worn out to put up his arms to defend himself. Sentry took the advantage, beating down Speculum, and just as he was about to go in for another set, he was suddenly attacked from behind by Calamity, who struck him with enough force to send him back into the crowd of Sentinels. Calamity helped him up, and the two of them ran back over to the others, who seemed to be all gathered together.

As Ragnaros flew in from the side, Lyn took a look at the Gold Tribe around. They were all in pretty bad shape after fighting the Sentinels. Hoodhide seemed to be out of commission completely, either dead or unconscious. Speculum was badly bruised. Ragnaros had a few cuts here and there, but was relatively alright. She wondered how long they would actually be able to hold off another wave of a fight with apparently four Sentinels.

“So, what now?” Speculum asked. Lyn didn’t answer, nobody did for a moment. What could she tell them? This was most likely the end of them as they knew it. But she knew she had to answer somehow. Talk about dying honorably and protecting each other and the Alpha Alliance to their last breaths. That was the way of the Gold Tribe, right? Sacrifice. Lyn just didn’t think it would all end like this. She took a deep breath and spoke, but before she did, someone else intervened.

“Now, you run.” Dark Lightning said. Lyn looked at him strangely. She was unable to see his face because he stood in front of them, looking off to where the Inferno slowly recovered from the temporary blindness Lyn inflicted.

“It’s pointless, we’ll never get far enough. They’ll catch up anyways.” Calamity said back to him.

“Not if I stay behind and hold them off while you get out of here.” Dark Lightning replied calmly. Lyn turned to Dark Lightning, as did Calamity. “What are you saying?” She asked him, as if not understanding what he was doing.

“I’m saying that we can’t have all of this be for nothing. If we all die here, then the Alpha Alliance won’t have a chance. They need you.”

“But…but why do you have to stay?!” Speculum demanded.

“Because I’m already dead.” He said, turning around to face them, showing them his front side for the first time. Lyn’s eyes opened wide as she saw him. Between his front legs was a large hole from the Inferno’s previous attack. It seemed to go deep into his body. The wound was no doubt fatal, and it caused Lyn to wonder how he was even standing on his feet. Dark Lightning gave the others a smile. “I’ve lived a long life. Over my years, I have served with the best of them. I fought alongside Rey, and before that his father in his later years too. But over the years, I’ve lost many friends, especially in this war. Now…it’s time for me to go see them again. Let me do this, brothers and sisters. Let me draw my last breath as any Gold Tribe member should.”

No one else spoke for a moment. Lyn knew what she had to do, but she didn’t want to do it. She didn’t want to leave her brother behind. Dark Lightning looked back at the Sentinels, who were already heading to this direction, as well as the massive amount of Ancients. His expression suddenly changed. “Go…GO you fools! It’ll be your only chance! Head into the forest, try to find TrueStriker and the others, and teleport out of here! Go! And don’t look back! NOW!”

At the sound of Dark Lightning’s yelling, something snapped in Lyn, and she began to run, as did the others. Calamity removed Hoodhide's body off of his back and put him on his own. Lyn dared not take a look back, knowing that if she did, she would want to stay behind and fight with Dark Lightning to the bitter end. It took all the patience she could muster inside of her to do this, perhaps a sign of her finally growing a bit in that regard, but even so, as she passed by Ancients between the forest and she let them have all the anger and pain she carried with her. They reached the edge of the forest, and before proceeding inside, and against her better judgment, she took one look back at the area where the lone Gold Tribe member stood, and knew this would be the last time she would ever see Layton Igneel, Dark Lightning.

“Stop them!” Sentry commanded the Ancients, in which they turned to pursue, only to have Dark Lightning get in their way with a quick attack, and charge at the group of them with a Wild Charge. Ancients were taken out by the group as Dark Lightning gave it his all to give the others that chance to escape. A Kabutops tried attacking him from behind, but Dark Lightning parried the attack, took him down with a Thrash. He repeated the process to others that gathered around, and successfully blocked the path for the others. He panted heavily, as loads of enemies were sprawled next to his feet, only to see the Sentinels come around him and surround him.

“Admirable.” Sentry said to him. “But pointless. All of them will meet their fates eventually. In the end, no one escapes the Silver Tribe. Now let’s end this.”

“No.” Dark Lightning said silently to himself, with a smile. He looked back as the others as they disappeared into the forest, knowing his mission was accomplished. “No, this isn’t the end. Not for them. Not yet.”

Moments after his words, Hanso concentrated, and they teleported to the forests.
~~~~~
Hanso sat down abruptly once he, Zane, Dryad, and Sword and Shield were with Wildfire and Noctus. Teleporting over such a long distance was really getting to him. As he pulled his pack closer and pulled out some food he still had, Hanso said, "Vigil, this is where we left Liberty Forest and entered the rainforest, near where we met Hoodhide. Whatever supplies we don't have now, we might get at Hoodhide's village. For now, stay here while I go back for the rest."
He took a couple minutes to eat what he could before standing back up. I want to take a nice long nap after all this. "Don't kill Noctus," Hanso added absently, then teleported back to the Thieves' Forest edge.
~~~~~
What Hanso saw from his tree was not promising. A sandstorm obscured part of the battlefield - I don't remember seeing any Ancients do that before. - while most of the Gold Tribe appeared to be gathered together. As he watched, they made a run for the forest while Dark Lightning stayed to fight the Ancients. Something really bad happened if he's staying by himself. As the Gold Tribe entered the forest, Hanso teleported down to the ground in front of them. While taking a few seconds to catch his breath, he looked at the condition of the others. They were all battered, but the two that stood out to him were Penance, who seemed mentally beaten, and Hoodhide, who wasn't moving. Watching Lyn look back at the battlefield, Hanso shook his head.

"I hate it when this sort of thing happens," Hanso muttered, his eyes glowing blue. In the next second, he teleported the Gold Tribe to safety.
~~~~~
In the place between Liberty Forest and the Sovereign Rainforest, Hanso plopped down onto the ground again before pulling the last of his food out and scarfing it down. Hunger always resulted from too much teleporting. Between bites, Hanso said to the assembled group, "Everyone tell their part of today's ambush, don't leave out anything that might be important. Do not explode on Noctus there-" He jerked his head at the Cacturne. "-no matter how much you might want to. He's not Roswell."
Looking at Penance and Hoodhide, Hanso sighed inwardly. It looked as if he wouldn't sleep yet. Once he'd taken his last bite, Hanso stood up and brushed himself off. "Now, the real leader here, take over. I'm checking Hoodhide before we go anywhere. Anyone with healing experience, come over now." He took a few steps toward Hoodhide, then stumbled as his right foot touched down. Hungrier than what I had left to eat. No matter. Once he saw whether Hoodhide was alive, and did what he could, Hanso would go to sleep.
Penance 'Defender' Malum
Penance giggled as he heard the Mienshao's words. Oh... he had gotten in there. He was worming about in there and had already planed the seeds of truth as well as deception. He giggled as he laid his eyes on Dark Lightening and Hoodhide, "Howdy you two! It's a bash!" He burst into more spontaneous laughter as he wiped a tear from his eye. The rest of the events really passed in a blur for Penance as he just followed Dark Lightning and soon enough everyone was gathered around and then... they left. Penance ran. He ran... It was then that it seemed that the last piece that was still kept his mind together snapped as he just stood there as TrueStriker teleported them away and he temporarily took command. He blinked a bit as his shattered mind slowly began to piece together.
He smiled and then he began to giggle a bit and soon enough he was laughing. He leaned against a tree and smiled at everyone. "Ah! A great plan to be destroyed! I didn't think he could do it! I refused to believe it but Auron did it!" He giggled with a amused smile on his bill. "I wanted to believe my plan could succeed, but it didn't come close!" He burst into higher pitches of laughter as he slowly sank down until he was sitting on the ground. "Oh, but it doesn't end there! Not at all!" He staggered up and looked around, "Oh! Because they wanted us to escape!" He said gleefully. "What fun is there if the prey is shot down immediately? What purpose would they have then? No, they want us alive as long as possible! It's all a plan!" He burst into more laughter, "Oh! I see it all! A perfect excuse to burn the thieve's village for they know where it is! Without a Gold Tribe to protect it the fire will burn all the trees! Oh, it will be bright and the screams will be so loud! The screams of all your little friends!" He said gleefully as he pointed at Noctus.
"Oh! A fire will swell and then they will be happy and go after us! We could spend years running because once we're out they turn on each other and they don't want that!" He burst into more laughter. "Oh... also by the way... the city is long long lost, probably the second we got out of site!" He giggled some more. "Everyone is dead and slaughtered and bloody corpses are everywhere and the army is gone too~" He sang out as he leaned against the tree. "Oh... the spy in the city made sure the ancients came back and killed everyone. My daddy's dead, our friends are dead, the soldiers are dead. And since they knew where we were going they knew where the army was going as well! Which means what Vigil!?" He asked as he pointed his finger at the Bisharp.
"Well... it means we have a epic failure! Not only is the Alpha Alliance wiped out, but it's leaders are possibly captured as well and without the Gold Tribe there all hope is lost! The towers cannot be taken down and the only city they managed to gnab is lost as well, so Gold Tribe what are you going to do next!?" He asked in a kind of announcer's voice. "Well.... we can do absolutely nothing! The spy that informed the Sentinels we were going here has no doubt made sure all hope is lost! And it is indeed!" He burst into laughter once more. "Oh... hope is lost!" He walked down a bit into the forest, still in view of them and began to bang his head against one of the trees with much force before he put his back against and slid down until he was sitting there. "Yup... that's it." He giggled a bit more. Surprisingly thoughout his whole explosion Penance had managed to smile the whole time and had said everything with a cheery attitude.
He perked up, "Oh.... the area is probably crawling with Ancients already so we either die here or we pick ourselves up and see if we can find hope!" He got back up and stretched. "Can't pick yaselves up after that speech than you deserve to die!" He giggled and began to walk forward. "Come now! We need to find hope somewhere out there! If I remember correctly she should be somewhere in this direction!"
Ragnaros 'Bloodthirster' Phylax
Ragnaros flew above the ancients once again, with his shoulder bleeding and a huge wound somewhere on his head (he couldn't really tell); he shook the pain away and focused his attention on the battle that was raging on. Some of the Gold Tribe members were gathered up - he also saw Dark Lightning carrying Hoodhide, who appeared to be dead. He blessed himself for thinking of helping them before. But then he saw a massive hole on his body; the Zebstrika would surely die, but he seemed to be up to something. The Salamence watched as Dark Lightning valiantly charged at the ancients, leaving the others room to leave; he nodded his head forward, acknowledging the honourable death of a fellow Gold Tribe member. He took his eyes from the Zebstrika before the fatal moment arrived - he dove near the ground, next to his friends and flew next to them as they ran.
As they reached the forest, Hanso appeared. Ragnaros would tell him later how good it was to see him, or he wouldn't tell him at all.
'I hate it when this sort of thing happens,' the Gallade said and he channeled his teleportation powers, taking the Gold Tribe away from the ambush site almost unscathed...
***
They were in a forest, probably where Hanso had told him to take Lyn to, between Liberty Forest and Sovereign Rainforest. The Salamence opened his mouth wide and inhaled, causing a strange, rambling sound that was his belly. He eyed Hanso's food with jealousy.
'Everyone tell their part of today's ambush, don't leave out anything that might be important. Do not explode on Noctus there-' Hanso jerked his head at Noctus. '-no matter how much you might want to. He's not Roswell.'
Ragnaros walked next to Hanso, with his feet falling heavy on the ground. His battle with Sovereign had taken a great toll on his health, but he would be alright in a few days. He well-hid his exhaustion from his expression as he stared at Noctus.
'No, we won't hurt him, but he owes us an explanation. Roswell betrayed us and he's the prince of his stupid forest, isn't he?'
TrueStriker finished his food and eyed Penance and Hoodhide.
"Now, the real leader here, take over. I'm checking Hoodhide before we go anywhere. Anyone with healing experience, come over now."
But Penance started speaking and giggling. Ragnaros had a headache from the hit he had taken by Sovereign's stone, and the Golduck only made it worse. He was in a terrible mood; he wanted to crush something, anything. As Penance continued to speak without any reason at all, the Salamence couldn't help but exploding from anger.
'Enough of this nonsense! Snap out of it, will you?'
He turned to the others, trying to calm himself down.
'What's wrong with this wack-o? Did somebody hit him in the head?'
Sovereign could only watch as the remaining Gold Tribe members made their escape. Crap. More of them escaped. But it wasn't all bad news. A Zebstrika had stayed behind to hold them back. He was clearly wounded beyond the ability to stand, yet there he was. How noble. But it is a waste. Sovereign then approached the other Sentinels.
"What do we do now? They're getting away." He hoped with all his heart that no one saw him let the Dragon get away. It was none of their business what he did anyway. He was sure that he was safe for the time being though. They were all too busy in the battle anyway to notice what he was doing.
But even as he stood there, he had an eerie feeling. What happened out there. He knew that his father could not possibly have been talking to him, since it was sovereign himself who had killed him. What's happening to me?
Daricka "Wildfire" Cambar
So... Even though Noctus was Roswell's second in command, he didn't know anything about the trap? Daricka was a bit skeptical that he was telling the truth, but he didn't appear to be lying. She decided to believe him for the moment and went back to her pacing. By the time TrueStriker appeared with more of the Gold Tribe, she had mostly regained her usual stoic expression. Only her eyes betrayed traces of her irritation from before. The Gallade took a moment to eat before disappearing once again, saying something about not killing Noctus while he was gone. Daricka nodded to the three that had teleported here with Truestriker, but didn't otherwise greet them. Her mind was still focused on the battle the rest of her brothers were currently facing. It seemed unlikely that Vigil, Dryad, or Sword and Shield would know much of what was going on seeing as they had been at the village, so they weren't really her main concern at the moment.
When TrueStriker returned, this time with a larger group, a quick scan showed that Dark Lightning was missing. Daricka's gaze darkened and she looked the group over once more, but still she could find no trace of the Zebstrika.
"Everyone tell their part of today's ambush, don't leave out anything that might be important. Do not explode on Noctus there-" TrueStriker spoke between bites of food. "-no matter how much you might want to. He's not Roswell. Now, the real leader here, take over. I'm checking Hoodhide before we go anywhere. Anyone with healing experience, come over now."
Daricka shifted her gaze to the unmoving body of Hoodhide. If he was dead she would make the Silver Tribe pay dearly. Not that she hadn't already been planning to give them a good beating, even more so now that it seemed Dark Lightning was lost. By now she had completely regained her composure and not even a trace of emotion showed on her face as she rested with her back against a tree.
Hysterical laughter drew her attention to Defender, who appeared to have totally lost it. Daricka listened patiently to his psychotic rant, unlike Bloodthirster who exploded in anger.
"Not everyone is as strong as you, brother," Daricka said to the Salamence. She moved from her resting position to place a hand on Defender's shoulder, more to keep him from wandering away than anything. She wasn't one to use words often, and she wasn't sure how much her next words would help, but she did know that if Defender continued in this manner he could end up discouraging the others. "We haven't lost yet. Let's not let Dark Lightning's sacrifice be in vain." Even though no one had told her what had happened, if Dark Lightning hadn't come with the rest she could only guess that meant he was dead.
Thieves Forest- Ambush Site- a while later
Scar cracked his neck back and forth. Blood was dripping from the corner of his mouth. He wiped it away, looking at his hand as he did. "Damn Gold Tribe member...B*stard was tougher than I thought."
Sentry looked around the battlefield. The Ancients all stood together, lined up in perfect unison now as if they were dolls. In a way, they were. Mindless soldiers that did the bidding of the Sentinels and Lord Auron. They were loyal and always followed directions, but their lack of sentience could sometimes be a curse as well. No matter, they accomplished their tasks with usually reasonable success. Usually. This time happened not to be one of them. The purpose of this mission was to bring about the end of the thorn that was the Gold Tribe for good. Not to simply kill one member.
"What do we do now? They're getting away." Sovereign said.
"Let them run." Sentry answered. "Eventually, their day will come. Whether it be tomorrow, in a week, in a month, or even in a year. The end of the Gold Tribe is almost certain. There's too few of them now to do much."
"We need to move again." The Inferno spoke, with words that demanded attention, and respect. Sentry nodded in agreement, speaking himself. "I will go to Auron and report what happened here. Inferno, you go with Scar to Cape City. Take these Ancients with you. Crusher, you go to Albia. Frost, Deluge, and Ignitus have just quelled a rebellion there and might need some help keeping the city secure. The Gold Tribe might have lost the battle here, but there's still an Alpha Alliance army out there, and from our reports, they're coming soon."
Without another word, the Inferno already headed off. Scar nodded to Sovereign and Sentry and followed. Sentry looked back at Sovereign and spoke to him. "Keep an eye on Frost. She may be one of us, but her arrogance and pride get into her emotions too much. Keep her in line if you have to."
With that, Sentry took off. The Ancients began to slowly follow the Inferno and Scar out of the area, leaving the once filled plains empty with nothing but echoes of the dead.
*******************************************************************
Liberty Forest/Sovereign Rainforest Border
Before Zane could really get a grip on anything, he was already teleported to a new area. It was a somewhat familiar sight, having been on this path weeks before. There, he saw Noctus and Wildfire, while TrueStriker disappeared once more to go back for the others. When they arrived, Zane hoped to finally get some answers on what had happened.
"Everyone tell their part of today's ambush, don't leave out anything that might be important. Do not explode on Noctus there-" TrueStriker motioned to Noctus. "-no matter how much you might want to. He's not Roswell."
Zane looked at Noctus. From his expressions on his own face, he had no idea what had happened either. He wasn't sure if he believed him up front, but for the moment, he seemed sincere.
"No, we won't hurt him, but he owes us an explanation. Roswell betrayed us and he's the prince of his stupid forest, isn't he?"
Zane was inclined to agree. He was second in command, and yet Roswell didn't tell him anything? Before anything else about this could have been asked, Zane heard the sound of giggling, and then flat-out laughing coming from Defender. He turned to him, perplexed, and as the Golduck began to speak, Zane became more and more aware of the situation at hand. Had the plan really gone that bad? It appeared so. It appeared as if they were waiting for them the whole time. Roswell was in cahoots with the Silver Tribe from the beginning. The entire plan was just a ploy to get the Gold Tribe, and it seemed that Defender, being the one who orchestrated it, took it hard. Really hard. And for good reason. Zane recalled the conversation the two had merely a day ago, about his entire situation, and how a plan went bad before. This must have been extremely hard on him, and Defender seemed to crack. Ragnaros began screaming at Defender. Wildfire went up to comfort him telling him that Dark Lightning's sacrifice won't be for nothing.
"Wait, Dark Lightning?" Zane asked, standing up and turning to Lyn. It was the first time he had realized that he wasn't with them. Lyn simply shook her head, turning her back to Zane and clutching her knees to her chest. Zane looked at the others, who also hung their heads down in sorrow. He was gone. Zane abruptly sat to the ground. He didn't know what to do now. The others sat with him in silence, nothing to be heard except Defender's slow descent into madness. He was suppose to lead the others, but all he did was lead them straight into a trap. Despite it being Defender's plan, it was Zane's fault that Dark Lightning had died. What could he do now? Zane tried to imagine in his mind what 'Rey' would say. What would the former leader say in this situation? He then remembered a memory of his past, and a conversation he had with 'Rey'. Zane smiled and stood up, facing them.
"Rey once said to me that the most admirable trait we of the Gold Tribe possessed was endurance. He said that no matter what came our way, whether the toughest battle or the worst calamity, we would always make it through because we were fighting for something important. We had the endurance to see it through. He said that everything, even bad fortune like this, can be overcome by endurance. That's what we've done this whole time. That's what Dark Lightning died believing too. He knew we wouldn't just give up once he passed. There really is still hope. As long as we endure, there'll always be hope. No matter what happens. If you still follow me, we can still do this. I know we can."
"Vigil..." Calamity began. "I want to believe that, but what do we do now? The ambush failed. We have no means of getting into the Albia. The Alpha Alliance army will be crushed by those watchtowers."
"Not quite." Noctus spoke up, walking to the middle of them all. "I...don't know why Roswell did what he did. He probably had good reason to. I'm not justifying what he did. It was terrible. But I came with you guys to accomplish a mission. You may not have the thieves anymore, but you have me. I know the secret paths into Albia as well. If you still want, I can take you there, and finish what you started."
A small grunting noise was heard for a moment, and Zane turned to see Hoodhide, stirring from unconsciousness. "Ugh...I hope-I'm not gonna end up beatup likethis in every bigbattle...I'mwithya Vigil all the way..."
Hanso got to Hoodhide and kneeled down as Penance began laughing and ranting. Auron having everything planned out to the extent that Penance said? I'm pretty sure even Auron can't have eyes on us all the time. Turning his attention back to Hoodhide, Hanso's face went blank. What did he know about healing? That had been one of his twin's specialties, not his. Focus. He'd watched her enough times to know at least a few things.
Hanso checked for a heartbeat as the others talked to each other. Hoodhide was still alive. Sitting back, Hanso sighed with relief. Hunger's muddling a few things, he thought. He didn't remember anything else that was helpful. Do I know how to do this Heal Pulse thing? Thinking for a few moments, Hanso remembered, as if he'd known how to do it his whole life.
Just then, Hanso heard a grunt. Hoodhide was just waking up. "Ugh...I hope-I'm not gonna end up beatup likethis in every bigbattle...I'mwithya Vigil all the way..."
"I doubt there'll be a surprise in every big battle," Hanso said. After looking at Hoodhide again, he decided the Scrafty still needed some healing now. He put his hands up and formed a small ball of energy between them. Really gonna hate it if this goes wrong somehow. It was Hanso's first time using a Heal Pulse after going through Demas' machine. He held it to the wound from the Inferno's attack, and it seeped in to do its work.
Hanso pushed himself up from the ground and turned back to the group, trying to ignore the head rush that came. He wanted to lie down and sleep, but he wasn't going to let himself do that yet. "Who else needs healing right now?" Hanso asked the group in general.
"Let them run." Sentry answered. "Eventually, their day will come. Whether it be tomorrow, in a week, in a month, or even in a year. The end of the Gold Tribe is almost certain. There's too few of them now to do much." This seemed ridiculous. The opportunity to wipe them out for good was slipping away. Fine. I can wait a little longer. Sovereign stood silently and waited. He didn't care as long as he got to fight again soon.
The Inferno issued orders to the other Sentinels like he was the boss. "Crusher," he hated that name, but he was known by it now. It was his reputaion. "You go to Albia. Frost, Deluge, and Ignitus have just quelled a rebellion there and might need some help keeping the city secure. The Gold Tribe might have lost the battle here, but there's still an Alpha Alliance army out there, and from our reports, they're coming soon."
Inferno took his leave as Scar nodded to Sovereign. Then, Sentry looked at Sovereign. "Keep an eye on Frost. She may be one of us, but her arrogance and pride get into her emotions too much. Keep her in line if you have to." He had a point. Sovereign had never liked Frost much. "She is a coward. Nothing more."
Sovereign was alone now. He gazed at the mountains. They reminded him of home. Do you remember the day I gave you your name? Sovereign turned around quickly to a shocking sight. "Father?!" Indeed, the former Garchomp seemed to be standing right in front of his eyes. "Your dead. You can't be here." Indeed I am. You made sure of that didn't you? His voice didn't sound right. His father never talked in such a malevolent tone. Why do you trust them? The other Sentinels are just going to betray you. It's in their nature. Sovereign stared for a moment at the impossible image before him.
"You let him get away." Sovereign snapped out of it. He turned to see a Blaziken on a nearby boulder. He turned back for a moment. His father was gone. "What's wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost," said Vera. "Maybe I have," Sovereign said to himself. "So, why'd you let the dragon go?" she asked. "He gave me exactly what I wanted. A good fight. Haven't had one that good in forever." He paused. "I trust this will stay between us?" Vera raised an eyebrow. "Of course Sovereign. You know you can trust me."
"Do you have it?" asked Sovereign as they walked away from the battlefield. Vera removed a pouch hanging around her neck and handed it to Sovereign. He turned it out in his hand revealing a small, light blue rock shard. He placed it back into the pouch and handed it back to Vera. "I almost lost control out there. You should be ready to use that if necessary." Vera looked at him and took the pouch back. "I will be," she said, "Where are we going?"
"To Albia."
Penance 'Defender' Malum
Penance just burst into laughter as Bloodthrister actually began to shout and was enraged. "Oh! That's rich!" He was about to head out a bit further but then was grabbed by Wildfire and given a small speech as he rolled his eyes. "Oh you! You know nothing about what you speak!" He giggled some more. "You always need to be happy! If you don't laugh then you just hurt!" He burst into some more laughter.
"Wait, Dark Lightning?" Penance burst into more laughter, "Aw! Vigie wigie didn't know!? Well, now ya do Vigie! We all do! Just one down and then even more! Just like before in the past! Like looking through the window!" He exclaimed happily. He just listened to the others talk with a smile still on his bill. "Oh, you!" He pointed at Noctus. "They have been with your leader for so long! Do you think they would know where it's at? I'm sure he and every thief in the village knows! Of course, they're probably there with roses."
He burst into more laughter as he pulled away from Wildfire, "You all don't get it! I guess I don't get it either... but it's not supposed to be gotten!" He giggled a bit more and leaned against a tree, "It's right there in the mind! Just staring at us!" He looked down at his bracelet and chuckled a bit more, "Not even luck helps us. No, we need hope. Has anyone seen her?" He asked as he looked around. "I was pretty sure she was somewhere here.... but I can't remember."
He sighed, "You know, this reminds me of the roses. There were so many back then.... you don't want to be a rose, do you Vigie?" He asked as he glance over at the Bisharp. "I wouldn't want to be one. That would be too sad. So very sad."
Ragnaros 'Bloodthirster' Phylax
"Wait, Dark Lightning?" Vigil asked, turning to Lyn. The name of their former ally calmed Ragnaros a bit as he sat silent with the others. Defender kept rambling nonsense, gradually losing his sanity. He had taken his failure seriously, but his planning skills were amazing, nonetheless. It wasn't directly his fault that a whole army of ancients popped out of the ground, but now something seemed very wrong with Defender, and Ragnaros noticed it. Vigil spoke, interrupting the dragon's thoughts.
"Rey once said to me that the most admirable trait we of the Gold Tribe possessed was endurance. He said that no matter what came our way, whether the toughest battle or the worst calamity, we would always make it through because we were fighting for something important. We had the endurance to see it through. He said that everything, even bad fortune like this, can be overcome by endurance. That's what we've done this whole time. That's what Dark Lightning died believing too. He knew we wouldn't just give up once he passed. There really is still hope. As long as we endure, there'll always be hope. No matter what happens. If you still follow me, we can still do this. I know we can."
Bloodthirster nodded to the golden Bisharp. He recognized his brother's strong heart and will he displayed and he admired him for those aspects. I'm with you, brother, he thought, an oath he had taken a long time ago, or so it seemed.
"Vigil..." Calamity began. "I want to believe that, but what do we do now? The ambush failed. We have no means of getting into the Albia. The Alpha Alliance army will be crushed by those watchtowers."
"Not quite." Noctus finally spoke, walking to the middle of them all. "I...don't know why Roswell did what he did. He probably had good reason to. I'm not justifying what he did. It was terrible. But I came with you guys to accomplish a mission. You may not have the thieves anymore, but you have me. I know the secret paths into Albia as well. If you still want, I can take you there, and finish what you started."
A grin appeared to the Salamence's face. 'Now, that's just great! Bet those ancients won't be seeing it comin',' he said and cracked his head, thinking the fun was coming right at him. He couldn't wait to get down on the battlefield once again, and the blood running down his shoulder and face didn't seem to hinder him at all. He was sure that Sovereign was in Albia, and they two could have a rematch. I won't let him win this time...
Hoodhide grunted, concious now. "Ugh...I hope-I'm not gonna end up beatup likethis in every bigbattle...I'mwithya Vigil all the way..."
"I doubt there'll be a surprise in every big battle," said TrueStriker. Bloodthirster didn't really mind surprises, as long as they weren't ruining a whole plan of theirs... He watched as Hanso casted some kind of healing power on the Scrafty. Meanwhile, Defender was still talking with himself.
"Who else needs healing right now?"
Bloodthirster, calm now, walked over to Defender and swung his heavy tail, hitting his head and throwing him on the ground.
'I don't often apologise, so you better accept it this time, friend,' he whispered and turned to Hanso, shouting, 'He does!'
Zane silently watched as his brother Defender continued his descent into apparent madness. Zane however, didn't think he was insane, just in a tremendous amount of pain. For all their prowess in combat, it is often easily forgot that many of them weren't very seasoned. Both Lyn and Guardia were only 17 years old. Speculum was only 14. Besides, Hanso, who was now the oldest since Dark Lightning past, most of the others, including Zane, were in their 20s. Of course, age among the Gold Tribe is not often a setback. 100 years ago, Lyn's grandfather won a war against the Order of Neoverse, and he was only 18 at the time. Still, even the most hardened warriors could experience a breakdown. Defender's entire plan was collapsed before his very eyes, and while Ragnaros was getting angry at him, Zane was feeling sorry for him.
What happened next was bound to be expected, but Zane and the others decided not to do anything about it, as Ragnaros swung his tail, and knocked out Defender.
"He does!" Ragnaros said angrily in response to TrueStriker's previous question of who else needed healing.
"Maybe it's best he does get some rest." Calamity said as he walked up beside Zane. "Arceus knows we all need it."
He looked up Defender's body once more, still in deep sorrow over the day's events. If things would continue as they did, Zane might not have just lost one brother, but two.
"Right." Zane finally said. "Let's head over to Hoodhide's village. It shouldn't be too far from here. We'll rest there for the night, and figure out what we'll do tomorrow morning."
The rest of the Gold Tribe began preparing to move. Zane checked around on them momentarily, to see if any of them were severely wounded. He would imagine they would not speak up about it before perhaps because of pride. Although quite a few were bruised up a bit, none seemed to be incapable of walking. Sword and Shield picked up Defender's body, and carried him. The rest began to walk over through the familiar sight of the rainforest. Thankfully, TrueStriker teleported them to a reasonably close location to the village. Which reminded Zane, TrueStriker actually did quite a bit recently, including making multiple trips across the entire country, just to get them all out. He even went back into the ambush site multiple times, and the Thieves Village. Before forgetting, Zane walked over to Hanso.
"I've got to thank you for what you've done. I know you must be exhausted from all those teleportations. But I wanted you to know that we all owe you quite a bit. We wouldn't have all made it out without you."
After Ragnaros knocked down Penance, he shouted, "He does!"
At least he'll be quiet for a while, Hanso thought, walking over to the Golduck. From the looks of it, Penance had taken more of a beating than most of the others. Then there was the fact that Ragnaros had just bashed him in the head with his tail. Hanso made another Heal Pulse, which seeped into Penance's body, then stood up.
"Right." Zane finally said. "Let's head over to Hoodhide's village. It shouldn't be too far from here. We'll rest there for the night, and figure out what we'll do tomorrow morning."
Hanso waited until Hoodhide was moving and Sword and Shield had picked up Penance before walking along. As the Gold Tribe entered the rainforest, Hanso stopped to lean against a tree, closing his eyes. He'd already eaten the food in his pack, but he still felt like he'd gone for a few days without food. The two Heal Pulses didn't do anything to help that fact, except take a little more out of him.
Hanso opened his eyes as Zane approached. "I've got to thank you for what you've done. I know you must be exhausted from all those teleportations. But I wanted you to know that we all owe you quite a bit. We wouldn't have all made it out without you."
"Just doin' my part," Hanso replied, pushing off the tree. "Though it isn't everyday that the prisoners weren't there and they had an army of Ancients hiding underground." He paused to think back to the battle. "One of the Sentinels said that the King of Thieves had delivered the Gold Tribe to them, which was how I knew that Roswell had betrayed us."
Hanso continued walking again, pushing himself to keep from trailing behind the others. Zane was right about his exhaustion, but Hanso couldn't let himself sleep yet. As he walked, Hanso went over what Penance had been saying ever since they'd gotten here. Out of all Penance had said, Hanso felt that the only likely thing was that there was a spy in the Alpha Alliance. The rest was just rambling.
Hanso shook his head. Time for thinking later. There was a village to find.
Not to Zane’s surprise, Hanso’s response was laid back and dismissive. He noticed that about TrueStriker. He was much quieter than many other Gold Tribe members he met. He still had the same dedication and strength the others had, but he used it differently. Zane supposed there were grand purposes for every type, and TrueStriker was slowly beginning to show his. The mention of Roswell made something churn at the bottom of Zane’s stomach. He still despised himself for actually trusting the thieves so much in all this. He had naively assumed that it would be possible to finally stop hundreds of years of hate and simply coexist together once more. Yet Roswell had shown him once more how different the two sides were. For someone who thought he knew much about the world, Zane found himself baffled.
“I still can’t believe what happened.” He said to TrueStriker. He looked up at Defender, who was being carried by Sword and Shield. “Poor Defender. He took this all really hard. I hope he’s going to be alright….”
“Thereitis!” Hoodhide exclaimed, beginning to run to the town even though he was still fairly injured from the wounds. His excitement to be back in his home must have overwhelmed the pain.
“Hey, slow down, brother! You’ll open your wounds again!” Calamity yelled at him.
Hoodhide didn’t bother listening, who ran out over to the village entrance, which was already being opened, and the village Pokemon children all began to run towards Hoodhide and swarm him. Hoodhide tried his best to embrace all of them through all of the chaos of the puddle of Pokemon around him. Despite everything that had happened in the past day, the sight made Zane smile. They began asking him numerous questions, to which Hoodhide was unable to respond all at once, but tried his best.
“That’s enough, children!” A Jumpluff said from behind, who Zane imagined was the village leader. The children reluctantly got off of Hoodhide, as he stood up, still smiling brightly. “Lucian! It’s great to see you again. What brings you back here?”
“Well, thethingis, we need a-place to stay-and rest. We’vebeenthrough a-lot.” Hoodhide chirped.
“Hmm, I see. We’ll you and your Gold Tribe are always welcome here, Lucian. Come in, come in! We’ll prepare food right away. And we can take care of your wounded too.”
Ragnaros 'Bloodthirster' Phylax
Ragnaros watched Sword and Shield pick up Penance from the ground, then followed the rest of the group towards the village. His thoughts travelled to the battlefield, earlier; he remembered the feeling that overcame him, the need to protect his allies and friends. Then he wondered if friends would hit each other in order to stop nonsense talk. He glanced at Penance, thinking he truly had been through alot, even more than him.
Ragnaros shook his head. He realized blood was dripping down his face all this time and that the wound on his shoulder was slightly bleeding. The exhaustion of the battle struck him; he really had pushed it to the extreme with Sovereign, and the thought of collapsing right there was enticing.
'Thereitis!' Hoodhide shouted ran towards the village, possibly ignoring the pain from his wounds.
'Hey, slow down, brother! You’ll open your wounds again!' Calamity yelled at him.
The Pokemon of the village swarmed around Hoodhide, asking him questions. Ragnaros looked at the sky and tried to withstand the fuss. Somebody started talking and his ears caught the key words 'place' 'to' 'rest'. He looked down on the ground again, a Jumpluff was talking with Hoodhide.
'Hmm, I see. We’ll you and your Gold Tribe are always welcome here, Lucian. Come in, come in! We’ll prepare food right away. And we can take care of your wounded too.'
Ragnaros opened his eyes wide for a moment. Then he flapped his wings and parted from the rest of the group, approaching the villagers. His massive size would probably be a reason to fear him, but he was a Gold Tribe member. What was there to fear of the Gold Tribe? Probably the Silver Tribe following us, he thought but didn't say a thing. If they didn't rest here and now...
'I need some treatment,' he demanded in a worn out tone. A Chansey appeared behind the crowd and motioned her hand for him to follow. She lead him to what possibly was an inn, and made him stay outside for 'obvious reasons' to which she chuckled and he smirked. The Chansey went inside and returned after two minutes with a sitrus berry. Ragnaros plucked it from her hands and swallowed it whole; he then laid on the ground and, without being able to help it, fell asleep.
