The Flash Cannon took a direct hit to Shield and Sword, and he fell. Zane was also partially hit, but Gladius took most of the attack. Zane got up quickly, Gladius was on it for a while. Zane feared the attack may have been too much, but suddenly, he stood up again. He spoke.

"There is no way we can escape unscathed Vigil. We still need to mount a fight. Freedom is just beyond Berserker and these Ancients. We need to continue fighting. I will still fight." As he said this, he used a belly Drum. Zane admired the Snorlax at this moment. It is said in the face of doom, our true colors are shown. It was evident that his were proud and true to his Gold Tribe nature, and Zane knew he would be the same. That was the life of a Gold Tribe member. Never quite looking for trouble, but always managing to find it. It comes with the title. And you know what, Zane doubted a single Gold Tribe member would have it any other way.

"It is time to get serious," He said, and charged forward at Beserker. Immediately, Zane charged in right behind him. Beserker prepared, and unleashed an Earthquake upon them. The ground began to collapse across the terrain, and the fissures made their way towards the Gold Tribe members. Zane did his best to avoid the bulk of the attack, only to falter and get hit towards the climax, the most powerful part. Without a moments hesitation, he stood once more, and charged in, preparing with a Swords Dance. Beserker went right for the two of them now with a Take Down attack. Zane met his blows with a powerful Night Slash. In unison, the three Pokemon clashed together.

Torturehouse Entrance

As the Golduck released a screech, Hazone covered his ears, while the Sentinel scar faltered for a moment upon approach. Hazone noticed a Gallade speak now.

"I could probably teleport a few of us out at a time." Hazone didn't know the capabilities of the Gallade in his condition, but he probably would be able to teleport a few of them at least to the edge of the forest.

"You should teleport the Alpha Alliance soldiers at least to the forest edge, that way they can try to escape. I doubt they are in any condition to battle. I will remain with you Gold Tribe members, and hold them off, until we see an opening we can escape from."

Before anything else could happen, though, the two Sentinels separated. Scar continued to head straight for them, as Ignitus apparently was set on cutting them off. As one of the Gold Tribe members charged forward, Ignitus unleashed a barrage of attacks at them, beginning with flamethrower and ending with a few shadow balls. Hazone was hit by one or two attacks, and was knocked backwards. He wasn't in his prime condition, so his speed has been greatly reduced, as was his attack capabilities. He was slow to get up as he observed the other's damage.

Scar, meanwhile, charged in to the Gold Tribe group, and went to work. He used a Jump Kick, followed quickly by a Force Palm on a few of the others. Hazone couldn't believe the quickness of the attacks, and hoped the others were alright.

Gladius Clipeum

Berserker unleashed a powerful earthquake, far different and far stronger than Gladius'. Gladius rolled to the side to avoid a huge fissure, but his left foot stumbled inside the fissure. Gladius scrambled to get up. He saw Vigil fall, but stood up without a moment's lag. Bless his Gold Tribe heart. Vigil used another Swords Dance. Gladius could not boost himself anymore, because of the energy drain, but he still feels powerful. Berserker was preparing a Take down Attack. Vigil struck with a Night Slash, and Gladius struck with a Return. The three Pokemon met. Berserker grinned at them, and sent the two Gold Tribe members flying. That was a show of his strength. And it showed Vigil and Gladius how overpowered there were. The duo landed a few feet away from the Aggron. Gladius felt the pain. Even with a Belly Drum, Gladius was no match with the Aggron with no boost. Gladius stood up.

"This is not happening!" Gladius prepared a Wild Charge. He rushed towards the Berserker. Steel and electricity met. "Down you go, Berserker, you traitor!"

Penance Malum

As soon as Penance ended his screech attack he had expected the sentinels to at least be dazed from his attack, but they were still moving like nothing had even happened! "I could probably teleport a few of us out at a time." He heard the Gallade say.

"You should teleport the Alpha Alliance soldiers at least to the forest edge, that way they can try to escape. I doubt they are in any condition to battle. I will remain with you Gold Tribe members, and hold them off, until we see an opening we can escape from." The general said.

Penance turned his attention to Ignitus as he formed two water pulses in his hands. If they could as least wound one of the sentinels badly enough for a retreat then they would only need to focus on getting past one sentinel and then get to Vigil and Sword and Shield to help them out. Penence wasn't ready when the fire type suddenly unleased a flamethrower at the group. Penance cried out as the flames engulfed his body, while he was a water type that didn't mean that fire couldn't burn him. If that wasn't bad enough a shadow ball slammed into Penance's chest causing him to stagger back. Penance noticed the other sentinal, Scar, force palming the soldiers. Penance formed another two water pulses in each hand. If they could hold off Ignitus long enough... he could only hope that they could make it through this alive.

"Calamity, help me with Ignitus!" He shouted as he threw his water pulses at his foe and quickly formed two more. "Screw chivalry," he muttered. It took some effort to form water, but he would use every ounce of energy he had to form eight more water pulses and aimed all of them at Ignitus. As soon as he fired his tenth he felt his fatigue catch up with him as he doubled over, panting heavily. He hoped that would at least get the fire type off their backs for a while.

The three Pokemon clashed, but the force of Beserker's Take Down was too much for the two Gold Tribe members. Zane was forced back on his back, but stood up quickly. Gladius too stood up quickly, and immediately went after Beserker once more.

"This is not happening!" Gladius prepared a Wild Charge. He rushed towards the Berserker. Beserker fought back with another Take Down. "Down you go, Berserker, you traitor!" he said, as the two clashed. For a moment, it seemed, that Berserker was being held off by Gladius. Zane would not get another chance like this. He charged at Beserker from behind, and delivered his strongest Night Slash on him. Beserker roared in pain for a moment, and faltered, allowing for Gladius's attack to overwhelm him for that moment. A second later, Beserker was on the ground, still in pain from the attack. The Ancients, realizing Beserker was momentarily subdued, began to close in. Zane yelled at Gladius.

"Now's our only chance, Sword and Shield! Let's make a whole and get out of here!"

While he screamed this, he rammed through to make a pass with Iron Head at the Ancients. While Beserker was on the ground, now may be their only chance to escape back into the forest.

****************************************************************

Torturehouse Entrance

As the fighting erupted, Hazone saw the Golduck launching strikes back at Ignitus. Scar, however, remained unaccounted for. Scar continued to launch his barrage of attacks against the weaker forces, working his way up. Still very weak, Hazone couldn't just stand by and see this happen.

Sneaking around to the blind side of Scar, Hazone prepared all the energy he could. As energy filled up in his mouth, Hazone released his most potent Hyper Beam he could. Scar turned in time to see the attack coming, but didn't have enough time to dodge the attack. He took the blast full force, knocking him back a few meters. He was slow to get up. Hazone knew that wouldn't be enough to defeat Scar, but it may keep him down long enough to try to break free and escape.

"We may not get another chance! To the forest!" Hazone yelled, as Ancients began charging in. Hazone did his best to try and shake them, and retreat.

Gladius Clipeum

He was no still no match for the Sentinel, and Gladius knew that. Gladius gave it his all, while Berserker was barely trying. The Aggron is stronger, and he knew it well. He was grinning all the time the two clashed, murmuring words and such. Gladius tried budging him down from his position, but he had not moved an inch. Gladius willed Vigil to act. Vigil took Berserker with surprise. From the boosts of several Swords Dances, Vigil executed a very good Night Slash which surprsingly brought the Aggron down. He fell, face-first to the dirt. The Ancients circled in closer.

"Now's our only chance, Sword and Shield! Let's make a whole and get out of here!" Vigil dashed through the thick wall of Ancients, using Iron Head as his ticket out the circle. He went on first, assuming that this is the only chance they had to escape. Even though Gladius still wanted to smack Berserker down to the ground more, he need to escape since he is getting fatigued from the long fight, and he know he will not survive if he tried to take the Sentinel on his own. Gladius ran off, sending another Earthquake, which he hoped was the last, disabling more Ancients. The more he take down during his escape, the less he is going to fight in the next battle. He Smacked Down all Ancients that he could grab, and finally he burst out the circle with several Ancients hot on his trail. From the corner of his eyes, he saw the General Hazone fire at a Sentinel, the Mienshao more commonly called Scar. Scar fell, which gave Hazone and the others precious moments to escape. This is Gold tribe's golden moment. Several remaining members trying to escape the clutches of the Silver Tribe. Gladius turned and tried running backwards. He summoned another wave of water towards the oncoming ancients which put more distance between the two. They are finally escaping.

Gladius ran quicker, towards a new beginning.

"You should teleport the Alpha Alliance soldiers at least to the forest edge, that way they can try to escape. I doubt they are in any condition to battle. I will remain with you Gold Tribe members, and hold them off, until we see an opening we can escape from."

Hanso nodded, already looking past the surrounding Ancients and at the forest's edge, stopping when he decided on a spot some hundreds of feet or so from the Ancients surrounding the Aggron and two Gold Tribe members. It would take a little longer and more energy than usual to teleport others, but Hanso felt confident that he could do it.

The Gallade had nearly fixed the image of the spot he'd chosen in his mind when the other two Sentinels, the Flareon and Mienshao, attacked. Given his condition, Hanso was not able to react before the Flareon's Flamethrower struck. He staggered back a few feet from the fire, then fell as his leg spasmed with pain. It might have been his fall that saved him; a Shadow Ball whizzed through the air where Hanso had been standing before. He pushed himself to his feet again, gritting his teeth.

Other sounds of combat drew his attention to the Mienshao, who was working his way towards the group of Gold Tribe members and the Dragonite. Hanso held his hands up in front of himself, forming a ball of light blue energy between them. It then flew up into the air, and Hanso turned his attention to the soldiers immediately at hand. His Future Sight attack should hit the Mienshao in a little while. Curse this limp, Hanso thought to himself, quickly moving closer to a few of the other prisoners that were still on the ground from the Screech and the Sentinels' attacks.

"Hold onto me!" Hanso growled to two soldiers, who obeyed, before he grabbed the arm of a third, a Prinplup, as he brought the image of the forest's edge to the forefront of his mind. This would probably hurt. The Gallade then Teleported the three soldiers and himself to the place he'd chosen. Hanso had done this seconds before Hazone cried, "We may not get another chance! To the forest!"

Hanso dropped to one knee, trying and failing to ignore his leg's pain and the depletion of energy. How any Pokemon could have been sick enough to order that torturehouses be built, he didn't know. Hanso pushed himself back up and teleported back to the front of the torturehouse, intent on bringing out another few prisoners.

Penance Malum

Penance was still breathing hard when the General let out a huge Hyper Beam which slammed into Scar. "Hold onto me!" He heard the Gallade shout as he disappeared with three soldiers. "We may not get another chance! To the forest!" he heard the General shout. Penance groaned, that Gallade hadn't heard the General and the Gallade had no idea where Liberty Town was! Wherever he deposited those soldiers they would be alone in the forest and if the Gallade got captured again or even got back to them safely then they would remain lost in the forest until they would get picked up by the ancients once more. Someone had to get them back to Liberty Town!

As the soldiers ran to the opening Penance was torn between running as well to staying for the Gallade when the psychic reappeared in his spot. "Calamity I'll meet you all back at Liberty Town later!" he shouted as he ran and grabbed the Gallade. "Teleport us to those soldiers right now!" He shouted. There was no time for pleasentries. If the Gallade didn't focus in enough time then the ancients and the two sentinels would be on them in a blink of an eye, and judging on how quickly Scar recovered from that Hyper Beam they were only a few seconds from death. These soldiers would have at least three gold tribe members watching over them, it was only fair that these four soldiers have at least one to guard them. Penance was confident, he knew how to get to Liberty Town and he could tell the Gallade enough to be able to teleport the group there, or so he hoped.

Forest Near Torturehouse

Zane ran through and past the Ancients, en route to the forest. Gladius was a bit behind him. He could still hear him shooting Earthquakes through the ground at incoming or following Ancients. Zane tried to maintain a constant top speed, despite having numerous injuries and fatigue. Soon, the two made it to the edge of the forest, Ancients still in pursuit, but thanks to delaying tactics from Gladius, there was some breathing room.

On the edge of the forest, Zane spotted three other Pokemon. He recognized them from the torturehouse entrance as Alpha Alliance soldiers. Obviously, they wouldn't know where to go. There's no telling how long they were in the torturehouse. Zane looked over to where Penance, Calamity, and the prisoners were standing. He made a motion with his arm, one arm bent at the elbow and sticking into the air, the other one placed on top of the forearm of the one sticking up. Many others wouldn't know what that meant, but to any Gold Tribe member, it would be the sign of "regroup at home base". Usually, this would mean Gold City. But ever since it's fall, Liberty Town has acted as 'home base'. Zane was sure they would get the message. In this way, the group near the torturehouse could stay together, and Zane and Gladius could look after those three. Zane spoke now to the three soldiers.

"Follow us! We're getting you to safety!" He said, as the three of them broke into a run behind them.

"Um...where to, if I may ask, sire?" Asked one of the soldiers.

"Liberty Town." Zane replied, as he ran through the forest, Gladius close by.

"What, exactly, is that, noble Gold Tribe?" He said, still a bit confused. He had probably been in the cell too long to know what it was. Liberty Town, after all, was established after the conquest of the Silver Tribe, and Zane doubts anyone heard much about what is going on in the outside from inside the torturehouse. Zane replied with one word.

"Home."

*****************************************************************

Torturehouse Entrance

Hazone noticed three soldiers now teleport to the forest edge. The Gallade was moving them, but it might not be fast enough. Scar could recover any second now, and then they'd be in big trouble.

"Teleport us to those soldiers right now!" He heard the Golduck Gold Tribe member say. Hazone then spotted something near the three soldiers. It was a Bisharp and a Snorlax. Hazone spoke.

"Wait! Look!" He said. The Bisharp began motioning something with his arms. Hazone did not understand. "He's doing something with his arms...signaling perhaps? I don't understand it..."

Just then, Scar was back on his feet.

"Ugh...a valiant move, General, but not good enough I'm afra-" The Sentinel's speech was interrupted as a hit from a Future Sight attack him directly, once again sending him flying. Hazone found a tad bit of humor in it, but kept it to himself. Precious moments were once again bought with the second surprise attack. Ignitus was nowhere to be seen, whether incapacitated, hiding, or lurking. General Hazone turned to the Gallade as Ancients slowly began to move on their position.

"I know this will be difficult for you, but you must try. Can you teleport us all to some part of the forest, any part? This should throw the Ancients off, and then we can make our way to some hideout or base or something. I know I ask a lot, but you must try, noble Gold Tribe. We have no time!"

It would be difficult, to teleport the Dragonite Hazone, as well as the Golduck, Absol, Ditto, Breloom, and about 15 other Alpha Alliance prisoners. But if they didn't try now, they wouldn't get another shot. Hazone saw Scar begin to slowly stir. He would be up again soon. It was now or never.

Gladius Clipeum

Gladius caught up with Vigil. He had managed to put a great distance between them and the horde of Ancient. He knew somewhere in the middle of that horde is Berserker. Angry. Gladius willed Vigil to go fatser. He feared Berserker might catch up But, heavens. Vigil casted a look aside, and saw three Alpha Alliance members. They looked really confused. Vigil then made a signal. It means to regroup at the home base. Gladius assumed it is the Liberty Town. He nodded to himself, and hoped the others would also understand.

"Follow us! We're getting you to safety!" Vigil said. He broke off into a run. Gladius followed closely behind. He could sense the army of Ancients closing in the distance between them. One soldier asked where they are headed. Vigil answered "Liberty Town," and yet the soldier still looked confused. So this one is of the first capture. That is a pretty long time.

"Home," Vigil simply answered. Gladius smiled at the thought of that. He risked to look back to check whether Penance and Calamity are able to follow, but only saw the Ancients. And right he was, Berserker is there. His steel armor chipped off where the Wild Charge hit it.

"Vigil! I cannot see Penance and the others! But Berserker is still here!" Gladius shouted. He stopped for a moment, and sent another Earthquake towards the Silver Tribe. "Taste this!" Gladius ran off again. He dared to never look back again.

Replicus "Speculum" Decendas
Gold Tribe

Replicus skipped ahead, his nimble Grovyle feet guiding him. He charged straight at Berserker, just before a painful noise filled his ears, throwing him off balance. Replicus groaned, and fell down on his knees, grabbing his poor ears. Pain surged through his body, as Replicus tried his best to keep the noise out. Through blurry eyes, he could see a Flareon, possibly the Sentinel Ignitus, burning the grass between the prison and the forest, successfully cutting the route off. Replicus grit his teeth, getting frustrated by their current situation. He was definitely going to bring those stupid Sentinels down someday, no matter how rash he was being.

He saw the Flareon rush towards a Dragonite, whom Replicus identified as Hazone, the General of the Gold Tribe. The Flareon muttered something, and Replicus could see her set her eyes on him. His own eyes widened, as the Fire Pokemon unleashed a Flame Thrower in his direction. He managed to jump back at the last moment, attempting to dodge the move. The flames did managed to burn him a bit, but otherwise, he was uninjured. He got back on his feet, when he was suddenly attacked by more Shadow Balls.

"Ohhhhhhhhhhhh Arceus" He thought, just before a few Shadow Balls smacked him on the chest. He flew back, and fell onto the ground. Luckily, the impact was softened by soft grass, and another prisoner who was lying on the ground. The Ditto knew he didn't have much time, but he managed to inspect his wounds a bit. His whole upper body was covered with dark bruises and burns, but he was going to have to tough it out if he wanted to survive this crazy escape.

He quickly got back on his feet, and transformed into an Excadrill. He dug deep into the earth, and started to work his way towards the front of the Torturehouse, where the others were trying to fight back. He popped out, just as soon as a Gallade transported in front of him.

"I know this will be difficult for you, but you must try. Can you teleport us all to some part of the forest, any part? This should throw the Ancients off, and then we can make our way to some hideout or base or something. I know I ask a lot, but you must try, noble Gold Tribe. We have no time!" The Dragonite said to him. Replicus had an idea, he was a Ditto, he could easily transform and help the Gallade in the rescue.

"Hey, I can help him with teleportation." Replicus said, panting. Unfortunately, both him and the other Gallade were severely injured. It would take quite a lot of energy to teleport... specially with injuries, and about 20 people to teleport. But they had to try, there was no other choice.

Replicus saw a few Ancients approach, and he quickly managed to bring them down, thrusting his drill into their chests. The Ancients screamed in pain, and fell down, as the Ditto swiftly transformed into a Gallade, copying the other Gold Tribe member. That's when he noticed the body of the Mienshao at his feet, who was called Scar by the Sentinels. Replicus could feel rage build up inside him, and he quickly threw a Leaf Blade on his unconscious body. Without seeing whether it hit or not, he turned towards the General and the Gallade, and asked, "Ready to get going?"

Hanso was able to stay on his feet this time, as it hadn't required as much energy to teleport just himself. His leg spasmed again, though, and the Gallade growled forcefully, flinching slightly as an Excadrill popped up close to him. Who knew how long it would take to--

Hanso's arm-blades sprung out to mid-length in surprise as the Golduck grabbed him and shouted, "Teleport us to those soldiers right now!" Why the rush?! was Hanso's thought as he was about to do as the Golduck said. Just then, though, the Dragonite said, "Wait! Look!" Hanso turned his head to see what the other was talking about. One of the two Gold Tribe members closer to the forest, the Bisharp, was making a sign with his arms: regroup at home base. Home base? Hanso understood the signal, but he knew of no home base for the Gold Tribe after Gold City had been taken over.

"Ugh..." Hanso snapped his glance back to the Mienshao. "A valiant move, General, but not good enough I'm afra-" The Gallade smirked as his Future Sight struck the Sentinel back down before he could finish his sentence.

"I know this will be difficult for you, but you must try. Can you teleport us all to some part of the forest, any part? This should throw the Ancients off, and then we can make our way to some hideout or base or something. I know I ask a lot, but you must try, noble Gold Tribe. We have no time!"

All of them? I'll be exhausted afterwards, Hanso thought to himself. Then the Excadrill said, "Hey, I can help him with teleportation." Hanso raised his eyebrows, wondering how he could help. His unspoken question was answered as, after dispatching some Ancients that had approached, the Excadrill morphed into a Gallade. A Ditto, this one. "Ready to get going?"

"We'll probably faint after this," Hanso warned, grabbing the upper arm of the Ditto-Gallade. There wasn't time to ask for an image of the home base. He sighted along the forest's edge again, picking another place that was more spacious and further from the army of Ancients. "There." Hanso pointed the spot out with one hand. With or without the other Gallade's support, Hanso envisioned the spot in his mind, then gathered energy to teleport the entire group. If there was no interference, then they should all get there safely. This better work, Hanso thought, activating the teleport to move the prisoners.

Zane ran forward, Gladius close behind, with three of the Alpha Alliance soldiers nearby as well. Ancients were still in hot pursuit. Zane heard Gladius shout back at him.

"Vigil! I cannot see Penance and the others! But Berserker is still here!" Zane cursed slightly under his breath, and saw Gladius turn to send an Earthquake at Beserker. Beserker was hit by a fissure of it, but managed to regain his footing and continue pursuit. Zane sent a Thunder Wave at Beserker as he motioned for the Alpha Alliance soldiers to continue running. The Thunder Wave hit it's mark, but it didn't slow down Beserker much. Beserker rammed through trees as he viciously pursued them, not relenting for a moment.

Scar, who had recovered now from the attacks, had managed to catch up to Beserker, and shouted at him.

"Beserker!" He yelled. Beserker didn't pay him any mind. Perhaps he didn't hear, or perhaps he didn't want to hear. "BESERKER!" Beserker sighed, and stopped, turning to face the other Sentinel.

"WHAT?!" He yelled. "Can't you see they're getting away?" Scar caught up to Beserker now, and stood next to him.

"Let them." He said quietly.

"What?!" Beserker screamed, fuming.

"Let them. They have nowhere to go."

Beserker looked at the two Gold Tribe members running, as they slowly passed out of sight, until they were no longer able to be seen.

*****************************************************************

Forest

Hazone opened his eyes. They were in the forest's edge now. The Ancients weren't on their pursuit, mainly because they didn't know where they went to. Hazone looked over to the Gallade and the Ditto-Gallade, who were knocked out, or very near it. They had done it. Everyone was teleported to the forest now. Hazone grabbed the Gallade, and rested him over his shoulder.

"Excellent work, you too. Thank you." He said. He turned to the others. "One of your should carry the Ditto. I doubt either are in any condition to run."

For that matter, neither was Hazone, nor many of the other former-prisoners. But they would suck it up for now. It was freedom or death now. Hazone saw patrols of Ancients not too far off. If they lingered, they may be caught. Hazone spoke to the Absol and Golduck.

"We shouldn't remain here. If you may, lead the way to your base. I'm sure the other two Gold Tribe members will be there as well."

*****************************************************************

Forest

Zane looked back for a moment. He was surprised. Beserker had stopped pursuit of them. In fact, nobody was after them anymore.

"Sword and Shield, look. Beserker stopped pursuit." Zane said. His tone was relieved, but also bewildered. Why would they stop pursuit? Zane didn't understand, but he didn't stick around to find out. He continued to moved quickly through the forest. Zane and Gladius would probably arrive in Liberty Town before the others, so they would be clearing a path for them if there were lingering Ancients around.

After a while, Zane noticed a certain bent tree, a sign that Liberty Town was closeby. Soon, they would be in safety. Zane couldn't help but smile. They had rescued the General, about fifteen Alpha Alliance soldiers, and a handful of Gold Tribe members as well. The day kept getting brighter.

It was the final hill now. Right over this one, below in the valley of the forest was Liberty Town, the hidden base of the Alpha Alliance. The rally point. The last symbol of freedom. Home.

Zane climbed up to the top, Gladius close by him, as they finally made it to the top, in view of Liberty Town.

Except for one problem. Zane's expression instantly went dark. Ash and smoke filled the air. Broken objects and remnants of tents flooded the around. Fire was everywhere. Not a single person was in sight.

Liberty Town was completely destroyed.

((OOC Everyone's next post should be about arriving in the same area, overlooking Liberty Town))

Sade Frost
Freedom's End

Sade looked up into the sky as she, Levin, and Inferno (who hadn't said a word since their departure) walked away from the town that was Liberty. Frost was satisfied with her work. The smoke was thick and healthy, a sign that the fires were alive and well and swallowing up the town. Honestly, the only thing that should be 'alive and well' to Sade Frost would be destruction. She absolutely adored it. She couldn't go two seconds without thinking it either. Her sick and twisted mind tried to generate a new and unique way to cause it. As she looked up at the smoke, she remembered what a ... fun time she had.

Flashback: What happened

Frost, Levin, and Inferno approached the town. Inferno broke up from the other two, since his power was equal to two of his kind, he would take the left side alone, and Frost and Levin would take the right. Of course, I could beat him if I tried, Frost thought, grinning as Inferno walked away. "Alrighty, lass, let's get this over with." Levin said as they approached their positions. Frost only giggled slightly at the remark. It was funny because she had 'lass' in her name, and coming from Levin, it was never an insult.

Smoke in the sky. Inferno had lit the first house, that was the signal to start. Levin and Frost approached the citizens of the town, who were fleeing. Some were standing up to fight, a Serperior, an Escavalier...Gold Tribe members, maybe. "Leave, or meet your grim fate, wrench!" The Escavalier shouted at Frost. This made Frost very unhappy. She launched an Ice Beam without warning at the bastard, knocking him down, frozen. "Who's next?" she teased, a grin on her face once more. The Serperior was apparently next. "You go, Gengar! I'll hold these losers off." Frost ordered. Gannon obliged, wrecking a building with Focus Blast and finishing off its inhabitants with Thunderbolt. The Serpeior lurched at Frost, a look in its eyes that said it knew it was outmatched. Just as Serperior was about to hit, Frost launched a great Ice Beam on its face, causing it to fly back. It was dead within seconds. Too easy. These couldn't have been Gold Tribe members. Alpha Alliance soldiers then, not nearly as good, or smart.

The other soldiers were discouraged, at best, but they attacked anyway. The Escvavalier got up from his Frozen status, clearly injured. Next, he came at Frost and started jabbing at her. She cast Protect in front of her, his jabbing was futile. When he was done, she launched an Ice Beam at him, he barely dodged, injuring one of his lances in the process. Next, he tried to use Bug Buzz from a distance. Frost had to take the hit, having no way to resist it since the attack was all over the field. Next, while Frost was seemingly distracted, the Escavalier used Megahorn, almost hitting Frost were it not for her quick dodge. Her next attack was a small Blizzard, not one over the whole field, being launched at the Escavalier, it hit, knocking him down to the ground. Frost floated over to the injured Escavalier. "Your doom awaits you." Frost said, smiling. She launched an Ice Beam and the snail was dead within seconds.

The other soldiers that attacked Frost met their untimely doom. Meanwhile, house after house, cottage after cottage, building after building, were destroyed. Their inhabitants murdered. Unfortunately, thousands escaped easily with the help of the Alpha Alliance and that pesky General Belas. There was one person Frost had expected to see, but didn't, however: Zane Tyrael, an old friend-turned-nemesis from Frost's days in the Gold Tribe. Indeed they'd had many battles, but all the while one survived. Frost had watched over Tyrael during his early days in the Gold Tribe, and they became fast friends. Unfortunately, after the rise of the Silver Tribe, they took opposing sides. Tyrael might have been killed, perhaps. Frost would be glad to be rid of him, but she'd wanted to see him one last time. Honestly, she wanted to kill him herself.

Flashback End

The damage was done. The inhabitants of the town and their pathetic Alpha Alliance had fled, and Liberty Town was destroyed. Another place worthy of 'ruin' in its name. Henceforth, this place was known as ...

Liberty Ruins

Penance Malum

Penance opened his eyes slowly and noticed that they had been transported to another part of the forest. Blinking slowly Penance got up and noticed that the Gallade and the Ditto were pretty much out of commission right now.

"Excellent work, you too. Thank you." The General said. He picked up the Gallade and turned to Penance and Calamity. "One of you should carry the Ditto. I doubt either are in any condition to run." Penance nodded his head, "I'm on it General." While Penance couldn't support the Ditto's Gallade form with his own weight, he could do so with his psychic powers. Concentrating for a brief moment Penance's eyes glowed a bright blue as the same color envelped the Ditto's form and lifted him into the air.

Penance noticed the General looking around, no doubt still on the lookout for any ancients. "We shouldn't remain here. If you may, lead the way to your base. I'm sure the other two Gold Tribe members will be there as well."

"Alright everyone." Penance said, "We're going to go to Liberty Town. Just stay close to me and Calamity, the Absol over here, and don't wander off. We should be able to get there in a few minutes." Penance lead the way through the forest, already noticing a landmark or two that showed just how close they were to the temporary city. Penance looked at the General, "Just to let you know General Hazone, General Belas is also in the city. I'm sure he'll want to talk to you once we get there."

Penance made sure to keep a walking pace for the group. They weren't far away and even if an ancient patrol did sneak up on them they would have the soldiers at Liberty Town back them up. Hopefully the soldiers hadn't been tortured too much and could relay any useful information they had learned.

Penance knew exactly where they were now. The trees were thick in this part of the forest but the golduck could tell tell that their destination was right on the other side. "Okay everyone, we're at our destination. Now it's not much now...," Penance said as he made his way through the trees, "but we're..." Penance stopped when he saw Vigil and Sword and Shield, "Vigil! Glad to..." Penance stooped once more as he noticed something else, smoke. Blinking, the golduck walked slowly to where his fellow Gold Tribe members were standing and saw the destruction. Liberty Town was in ruins. Flames engulfed the tents and dead bodies littered the area.

Penance was speechless as he fell to his knees. He was so overwhelmed with stress that the Ditto he had been carrying lost the blue glow surrounding him and fell with a soft thud onto the ground. "H-h-how?" Penance croaked.

Gladius Clipeum

"Sword and Shield, look. Beserker stopped pursuit," Zane said. And he was right. Gladius could not see the massive armor of Berserker, nor hear its angry roar. Its as if, the Silver Tribe simply vanished. Had we really survive a skirmish against the silver tribe? Vigil continued running, and Gladius followed closely behind, with so much questions in his head. Berserker is not the one to simply retreat and fight another day, Gladius thought. He risked a look back to see if the others were following him, but all Gladius could see are trees and bushes and such. He just hoped for the best. Vigil came to a stop after travelling a good distance. He noticed a bent tree, stuck in a weird sixty degree angle. Gladius knew that it was a sure sign that the town is near. He couldn't stop his heart beating quickly.

Soon enough, they climbed the pea of the final tower. Any moment now, they would see the top of the buildings of the town, and all the citizens. Any moment. Any moment. Any mo-

"Wait. Where are the buildings?" Gladius asked, or began to ask, when the truth struck him. Smoke arose from the still burning remains of Liberty Town. Gladius could only stare dumbstruck.

"Vigil! Glad to..." Penance arrived along with the rescued prisoners. As he saw the ruins, he fell to his knees, dropping Replicus with a soft bump. "H-h-how?" Gladius just shook his head.

"Silver Tribe. I can practically smell the stinky odor of the Silver Tribe members everywhere. This is their doing!" Gladius roared. He was weak, Vigil is weak, and so are the others. They expected none of this. They expected a home, but found fire. Gladius ambled down the hill. He summoned a great water geyser, and used surf to extinguish the fire. Then used Earthquake for another precautionary measure, and to be sure that all fire is gone. It is still hot, but Gladius can't feel it. Everywhere, he saw the remains of his Alpha Alliance comrades. "I knew it was a bad thing to leave the town unprotected! Belas! Where are you?" Gladius shouted, but he heard no answer.

He fell to the ground face-down, and crying.

The Golduck spoke to Hazone as they approached what he called Liberty Town. It was heartwarming to know what of the other Generals, General Belas, was there, and thriving.

However, what they came upon was something they did not expect. Hazone watched as the other Gold Tribe members stood silently in remorse, some drawn to tears. He did nothing. In truth, he didn't know what to do.
***************************************************************

Liberty Town Ruins

Zane stood in silence on the hilltop overlooking Liberty Town. He said nothing for the longest time as the others began their approach.

"H-h-how?" He heard Penance say.

"I knew it was a bad thing to leave the town unprotected! Belas! Where are you?" Gladius yelled. But there was no response. No one was there. Sure, they had rescued brothers of the Gold Tribe, the General, and even a dozen other soldiers. But in the process, they lost their only remaining home, their friends, and those they swore to protect. The Silver Tribe had hit, and they had hit hard. Zane dared not look in the others eyes as he spoke to them.

"Come on. Let's look for survivors." He said, as he made his way down the hill. The group followed behind him, then split up as they searched for survivors, or anything of comfort. But the deeper they got into the ruins, the more depressing it got. It seemed that nothing remained, nothing but ash, smoke, ruin and despair. Zane sighed as he looked up into the sky. As a member of the Gold Tribe, it was his duty to protect the people of the Alpha Alliance. After Gold City fell, he felt Liberty Town would be his redemption to continue that mission. With it gone, what could he do now? What could he live for, fight for?

Suddenly, Zane spotted something attached to a tree in the distance. It was a paper, attached to the tree by some kind of spike. It was a note. Zane walked up to it and read it.

Gold Tribe, by the time you read this, the Silver Tribe will have already taken Liberty Town. I'm alright. Quite a bit of us managed to escape. Myself and the others who did escape decided on something. If you manage to free General Hazone and the other Gold Tribe members, and if you manage to return here, then it is time. I have sent scouts to all corners of the Alpha Alliance with a simple message: it is time. We have idly watched as our nation succumbed to the tyrannical rule of the Silver Tribe, but no more. With you Gold Tribe at our helm, we of the Alpha Alliance will gather up all of our soldiers in hiding, and regroup. This news will spread like wildfire. With more Gold Tribe members with you now, hope returns. Meet us in one weeks time at the ruins of Poseida Village. From there, we shall gather our full strength, and make our first counter attack. See you on the fields of battle.

General Belas

Zane's hands shook as he read the letter. He yelled for the others.

"Come quickly! I found something!" He yelled. As the others arrived, Zane passed around the letter. As Hazone read it, his eyes widened. A smile crept onto his face.

"Belas sure outdid himself this time..." He said to himself.

"We rest for a bit, then we must move out." Zane said. "Leave all that can be spared behind. When we're ready, we make the long trip to Poseida, and from there, to war." As Zane said this, his voice was invigorated.

The Gold Tribe's freeing of General Hazone will indeed spread like wildfire. Tales will once again be shared about the return of the Gold Tribe. Alpha Alliance soldiers will come out of hiding inspired by this, and maybe even some Gold Tribe members. And once again, the Gold Tribe will be there, right in the front of the battle, ready to fight for the freedom of the Alpha Alliance, ready to die for it.

That's what Zane will fight for. That's what Zane will live for.

Gladius Clipeum

"Come on. Let's look for survivors," Vigil said. It's in vain, Gladius thought crying. He could feel not a single soul alive in the ruins. The absence of the bodies does not mean nobody died. It only means that everything is hopeless. Gladius stood up, wiped the tears flowing from his cheeks and followed Vigil's lead. He didn't look back to see whether the others followed. Vigil, him, Penance, Calamity; the four of them took off in hope to rescue their members and in doing so, lost the whole town. Gladius could not comprehend it. He looked around the ruins, looking for a hopeful sign, someone moving, or whimpering. Any sign of life is welcome, but he found none. He saw the limp tail of the Aipom that served him his food few hours ago; it seemed a lifetime already. Vigil shouted something; it looked like he had found something. He summoned everybody around him. He found a letter from General Belas. It read:

Gold Tribe, by the time you read this, the Silver Tribe will have already taken Liberty Town. I'm alright. Quite a bit of us managed to escape. Myself and the others who did escape decided on something. If you manage to free General Hazone and the other Gold Tribe members, and if you manage to return here, then it is time. General Belas

"Belas sure outdid himself this time..." Hazone told himself. Gladius could not believe it either. It seemed like a miracle. It looked like Belas and many others survived the attack. He could not believe it.

"We rest for a bit, then we must move out," he heard Vigil said. "Leave all that can be spared behind. When we're ready, we make the long trip to Poseida, and from there, to war." Vigil sounded very renewed. Gladius meanwhile still has some doubts, but he just hoped for the worst. This is not a trap. This is really Belas, mobilizing the entire Alpha Alliance and Gold Tribe army against the Silver Tribe. This time, revenge will finally be given.

Gladius gave a mighty roar in approval. He now have a new mission.

Penance Malum

Penance thought he would have never seen Gladius cry. He also never thought that the Gold Tribe could have been defeated by their former allies, but it had also happened. It just proved how different everything was now. As Vigil called for a search Penance rose weakly to his knees. He walked slowly over to the rubble that he once called a temporary home and began to shift the rubble as slowly as he could. It wasn't that he was angry or wighed down with so much dissapointment, it was that he was afraid of what he would find. As he and the others continued to look for anyone that could have survived the massacre he heard Vigil call out.

It took a second for Pennace to notice everyone else heading to Vigil before he followed after them. "Belas sure outdid himself this time..." He heard the General murmur.

Blinkin his eyes in confusion Penance laid in his eyes on the note,
Gold Tribe, by the time you read this, the Silver Tribe will have already taken Liberty Town. I'm alright. Quite a bit of us managed to escape. Myself and the others who did escape decided on something. If you manage to free General Hazone and the other Gold Tribe members, and if you manage to return here, then it is time. General Belas

Penance felt hope swell. Some had actually managed to escape. As Vigil continued to talk Penance nodded his head. Yes, they could make it out to the ruins. They could form together. They could fight back! They would win! Penance was so lifted he couldn't help but chuckle as Sword and Shield let out a fierce roar. He patted his friend on his broad back, "Save it for the Silver Tribe. They'll be hearing it soon enough!"

Zane chuckled as he watched the others. Sword and Shield let out a mighty roar, signifying he was ready to fight back. Penance patted him on the back, telling him to calm down, save it for later. Meanwhile, Zane was also delighted at the news. While he didn't show it, it filled him with new found hope that the Gold Tribe was returning. He was filled with pride if he even thought about it. Freedom now had a chance at a comeback.

After a few minutes of rest, Zane pulled himself together. He looked around him, the Gold Tribe members were brimming with confidence. Yet, he himself kept a serious face on. He turned to his friends, taking a glance at the ruins meanwhile. The damage was extensive, but not as much so as the Silver Tribe would be after Zane and the newly reformed Alpha Alliance finished with them. "Alright, Gold Tribe. We have to get to Poseida Ruins. No more time wasting. As I said before, take as little supplies as possible. Only what you need. Our first true obstacle will be the rainforest. The rainforest is a deep jungle, the only difference would be that it ... well, rains a lot. We'll need rations of food for at least two days, which is approximately how long it will take us to get out of the forest, with the help of the stars." Zane announced to the others. Then, he continued. "The next obstacle is the greatest. The wasteland. We'll need great rations of water, while the wasteland is not too vast, the heat can get to you in a matter of hours. We drink only when we truly need it. Oh, and another thing, the factories in the area are currently under the control of the Silver Tribe. Anybody gets caught by them, we're dead. Steer clear of the factories at all costs." Zane finished. "Follow me." he added, he was sure the others were wondering where he intended to get all these supplies.

Zane walked over to a burned down house. From the rubble one could tell it had had a red roof and was made of wood. Zane cast some rubble aside, apparently looking for something. Then, he found it: A hidden door. Zane pulled at the handle to reveal a secret room. "The storage room. Emergency supplies." Zane explained, briefly, before jumping down into the room. Some dust flew into the air as he landed. Inside were a variety of supplies: Canned food, to be eaten cold, such as a tin of Basculin meat. Of course, these food only survived because the storage was kept cold. Vents created by Ice-Type Pokemon surged their cold energy there, as a result everything was kept frozen. He called the others. "Take what you need. Water specifically." Zane instructed. He took two cans of Basculin meat, five bottles of water, and a big loaf of bread. The bread and water would easily melt, he thought, it was okay of they were frozen for now.

When he was done, he stored all his food in a pack and went back outside. Zane then stood by the edge of the village, which was near, and waited for the others to finish preparing so they could move on.

Kivir Sveenis

Kivir had been about useless during the rescue due to his wounds, and all he was able to do was throw a few seed bombs or use Spore on a few ancients. He had tried fighting once he was freed, but ended up only complicating his wounds and broken limbs when he tried punching an enemy. So the best he could do was force himself to run under extreme amounts of pain resulting from having a broken leg and several broken toes. His tormentors seemed to have enjoyed the sound of breaking bones, because Kivir had at least 12 bones across his body broken. Thankfully even without an ability to heal himself he had some skills with herbs and medicines once he had access to some so he could relieve his pain and help his wounds heal.

Because of his lack of connection with the destroyed town, the Breloom was not as emotional as the others around him, but seeing all the death, especially the signs of brutality done to some of the dead, up close for the first time was shocking to the Breloom. Guilt and dismay for not acting sooner and joining the fight, before the Silver Tribe took control, filled Kivir’s mind. Had he acted soon would he have been able to save many of these people? He quickly shut such thoughts in the back of his mind and locked them away. That was the past and cannot be changed; now all that matters is the future. He focused his train of thought and concentration on the task at hand and what he needed to be doing now. He was suddenly was jarred from his thoughts by a loud roar.

Looking up he could see several of the Gold Tribe members gathered around, but his wounds made him unable to join them before they dispersed and began searching the ruins for supplies. Zane’s announcement and the enthusiastic looks on the faces of the Gold Tribe members peaked Kivir’s curiosity and he asked a close by Alpha Alliance member what had made such a sudden change in moral. Hearing the excided warrior’s words only brought questions and caution in Kivir’s mind. Unlike the Gold Tribe and Alpha Alliance members, this news did not lift Kivir’s heart, but instead brought questions to his mind.
After grabbing a few supplies he quickly followed after the Gold Tribe’s leader and despite his many wounds he was able to reach the leader before anyone else. Limping up to Zane, Kivir bowed his head in respect and said in a calm and confident voice, “First off I am Kivir Sveenis and thank you for rescuing me from the prison. I come before you because I believe this course of action you are taking is a mistake. I feel like more patience should be applied and the situation carefully analyzed for two main reasons. First is the fact that the note was left in the open like that… how do we know the note came from the General and if it did come from the General, how do we know that the enemy did not read it as well? If the enemy knows or created this plan is it not possible that the note will lead us to our deaths?

Second I feel the plan was made in frustration and anger and even if the gathering itself is not a trap it could be the wrong move. Even when the Gold Tribe and Alpha Alliance were at full strength and had the advantage of the defensive position, the Silver Tribe destroyed both forces and took over the land. So what hope does a shattered force of remaining Gold Tribe and Alpha Alliance members have in defeating a superior enemy who has the defensive advantage? I am missing many facts and knowledge about this war, but from what I have seen and heard I feel like this decision is a rash one made in anger and frustration at losing this foothold.”

The Breloom then stopped talking and bowed again as he stepped back to give the leader space to think and to signify he was done talking.

As Zane waited for the others, a Breloom limped over to him. He looked injured. As did some others. It was then that Zane realized he may have been a little hasty in going. There were still injured members. Before he could say that the Breloom needed some assistance, he talked. “First off I am Kivir Sveenis and thank you for rescuing me from the prison. I am missing many facts and knowledge about this war, but from what I have seen and heard I feel like this decision is a rash one made in anger and frustration at losing this foothold.” the Breloom, Kivir, said. Zane stared at him for a moment, wondering what to say. Finally, he placed his hand on his brother's shoulder, lightly so as not to hurt him. "Faith, my friend." he said. "It was Belas' handwriting, I am prepared to believe it was him. If not, it would surprise me. You must have more faith in the Alpha Alliance. We will win. This land was ours to begin with, and it shall be ours once more." Zane explained. He was somewhat disappointed by his brother's lack of faith, but he was sure many more had questions of their own. Yes, it seemed suspicious, but Zane was prepared to believe in the Alpha Alliance. If it wasn't Belas who wrote the note, he'd kill whoever had.

"All those hurt come here!" Zane said. "We'll treat you before we leave!"

(Okay, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to move things ahead by bunnying everyone except Stingray and Silver Rogue, since they're back.)

Zane Tyrael

Zane was done. With some medical supplies and help from some others, he'd treated everyone that had an injury to his full extent. (OOC: That means, everyone who has an injury, post about being treated by Zane) So most could walk now, and those who couldn't were carried. Zane returned his supplies to the First Aid kit and looked at his brothers. "Brothers, now, we set out!" he cried. He was the first one to start walking across the field. the next one to follow was Sword and Shield, then Penance, and so on and so on. They all had the supplies they needed, now it was time to head for Poseida.

The field was easily crossed. The only Pokemon there were a few friendly Buneary and Lopunny, who even helped treat some of the Gold Tribe's wounds. A few offered their services to the Gold Tribe, which were unfortunately denied. The group didn't need more companions on this trip. The worst was still to come.

Soon, the group ventured away from the fields. The air started getting far more moist and the trees started becoming bigger the more they crossed land, and everything was starting to get wetter. Before long, the group found themselves in the Rainforest.

(OOC: After one person, at least one person posts, I'll reveal my character.)

Penance Malum

When Vigil had instructed the rest of them to start getting supplies Penance had almost gone down the room when he realized he needed something to at least pack his supplies in. It took only a short while of him digging through the rubble until he spotted the top of a knapsack poking through the top of the rubble. Grinning the golduck had eagerly pulled on it and unearthed the corpse of a sandslash still wearing the pack. He had killed ancients in the war, but nothing prepared Penance for this. It was a corpse, but the connotation was so different than looking down at a dead ancient. Taking in a deep shaky breath, Penance looked away as he concentrated his power and disentangled the knapsack off the body.

With his new bag in tow the golduck went down into the room and grabbed five water bottles and three cans of food and stuffed them into the small pack. The pack itself had two straps to fit his arms through and it fit snugly enough on his back without him needing to tighten the straps. The next task he set about was helping Vigil with the wounded, although the best he could do was moving those too injured to move to Vigil. Though they had done their best some of the soldiers still needed to be carried by their comrades.

"Brothers, now, we set out!" he heard Vigil shout out. Grabbing his pack Penance followed behind Sword and Shield as the group headed out into the plain. They didn't encounter any trouble through the area but they did meet some civilians who wanted to aid their cause. While they were allowed to heal some of the wounds their allies had Vigil didn't allow them to accompany them on their quest, Penance had a feeling that the scene back at Liberty Town would no doubt make all of them think twice of putting any more civilians under their protection.

As they moved through the fields everything started getting wetter and more moist, which suited Penance just fine! He hadn't seen a body of water in so long that he was anxious to come upon a lake or river at least. Soon enough they were out of the plains and in what Vigil had called a rainforest. The only time he had been out of the city was when he had found refuge back at Liberty Town. He had rarely been outside of the city before his Gold Tribe days and even then he had only seen the coast. When he caught sight of the tall trees Penance couldn't help but whistle.

"Those are huge." He murmured in awe.

Everything had been a haze from the moment that Hanso had moved the others from the torturehouse entrance. He had hardly noticed that his body was picked up and carried, nor had he registered any words spoken afterwards. The Gallade's mind was a cloud of exhaustion and pain. Mostly exhaustion, though there was a dull, painful ache in his right leg. Hanso was in this state as the others arrived at the ruins that had been Liberty Town.

Hanso gradually awakened, though, as the others searched for survivors. He groaned softly as he opened his eyes. He could dimly sense excitement from the soldiers and Gold Tribe fighters. Hanso's mind was cluttered until he remembered what had happened: the jailbreak, the fight, the escape. The Gallade pushed himself out of General Hazone's grasp to fall to the ground, then raised his head to look at the surroundings. Ruins greeted his eyes, all around them. "What..." Hanso shook his head, then looked up again when he realized that a sheet of paper was being passed around. Once it was passed to him, he read the note:

Liberty Town? There had been a town here? With one of the Generals and other survivors of the Silver Tribe's attacks? Brynn could be with them, Hanso thought, hope rising within him.

Hanso continued to sit on the ground, gently massaging his aching leg, for the next few minutes. Soon, Zane called, "All those hurt come here! We'll treat you before we leave!" The Gallade pushed himself up, gritting his teeth as he stood on both legs, to limp over to the Bisharp and Golduck for treatment. For his part, much of the treatment was directed at Hanso's previously tortured leg. In time, Hanso was able to remain standing without too much pain, though his limp remained. He then set about to obtain a satchel full of food and water-containers. He wasn't going to let himself slip by without helping.

Hanso was ready by the time Zane called, "Brothers, now, we set out!" He was one of the last few to set off, hanging back with several of the Alpha Alliance soldiers. On the field, the Buneary and Lopunny were able to help with wounds, though their offers of services were refused. They're not part of this war, Hanso thought to himself.

Hanso was able to keep up with the group, though he still hung back. "I should've grabbed a staff or somethin'," he muttered to himself, wondering how long he would have the limp. Hopefully, he could find one along this journey. It wasn't too long before Hanso beheld the tall trees of the rainforest.

"Perfect place to find a walking stick of some sort," Hanso said, a grin spreading on his face.

Lucian Tromp

Meet Lucian Tromp, a.k.a Hoodhide, a 'former' member of the Gold Tribe. Lucian didn't consider himself to be a member of the Gold Tribe anymore, really. He was now the protector of a colony of Forest Pokemon here, within Poseida Rainforest. The most of the Pokemon that lived here were Grass and Water type Pokemon, they'd created a little village here within the trees and leaves. They had saved Hoodhide in his most desperate time of need, and in return, he'd agreed to use his elite fighting skills to help defend their village from the Ancients, Bandits, and any other threats. In his few months of service, he'd already prevented two raids, one attack, and an attempt at tearing the forest down. Hoodhide often worked in secret, he didn't like others knowing he was there. He was discrete when preventing disaster, nobody knew he was even there. Hoodhide had been a Gold Tribe member before, and a rash one at that. Unlike other Gold Tribe members, he tended to be a hasty, rash kind of person. Not thinking before he made his decisions. And, of course, unlike any other Scrafty, his pants were red instead of the usual yellow.

On this particular day, the twenty two year old Scrafty known as Lucian was out collecting berries for his village. While it was not his village in any way, he often referred to it to be so because he lived there, and the resident Pokemon kept him safe. Lucian had already collected a handful of Persim berries, some Pecha Berries and one of the rare Oran Berries, which he knew everyone liked. The wetness of the rainforest was just enough to let berry bushes grow at accelerated rates. He'd give these berries to the resident cooks, who would craft all sorts of meals with them as a blacksmith might use metal to create armor. In fact, some residents in the village referred to the cooks as the foodsmiths. Which was just their word for cooks, really. Anyway, Lucian plucked his last berry from a bush when he heard something. A whistle. "Those are huge." a voice came from not far off. Without a second thought, the former Gold Tribe member took to the bushes, hiding to see where it had come from.

A group of Pokemon. A Bisharp, a golden Bisharp at that, a Golduck ... a Snorlax. The first thought that came to mind was: Poachers! Lucian looked a little longer, they had a few injured with them. They were bandits! All the signs were obvious: sinister looking Pokemon carrying other injured Pokemon? The injured Pokemon were prisoners, and these Pokemon were carrying them back off to their camp, which Lucian somehow hadn't located yet. It didn't take Lucian much longer to decide what to do. Quickly, he tackled their leader, the Bisharp, who was leading them, powering up with a Dragon Dance as he approached him. The Bisharp realized it only too late, and the two Dark-types rolled into the tall grass, brawling. The Bisharp landed the first blow, he quickly attacked himself to Lucian, preventing him from escaping their brawl. Smart move. Lucian countered his incoming Aerial Ace with a Dragon Claw, parrying it at just the right moment. Both Pokemon were now locked, the only free body part was the right arm. Quickly taking advantage of this, Lucian used Chip Away, spying an opening just above the Bisharp's hip. The hit was successful, and the desired reaction also came, Lucian was released from the grip of the pincer-like things on the Bisharp's torso. With haste, Lucian retreated a few feet, giving the Bisharp a chance to get up. "Who are you, and what do you want?!" the Bisharp cried at Lucian. "Hah! I could ask you the samething!" Lucian retorted, speaking so quickly that the words 'same' and 'thing' seemed conjoined as one word. The Bisharp held his hand to the rest of his gang. "Hold back, I'll take care of this barbarian!" he said to his fellow bandits. "It's you whoare the barbarian!" Lucian said, quickly, offended that the barbarian was calling him the barbarian.

Without warning, the golden Bisharp came at Lucian with full force, powering up with a Swords Dance as he approached. Lucian anticipated this to be a full-on charge, and stepped aside, the Bisharp had anticipated this and sidestepped his own charge to attempt another Aerial Ace, already realizing that Lucian was weak to Flying-type moves. The Aerial Ace slashed Lucian in the stomach, leaving him with a gash as he avoided the rest of the attack. This Bisharp was most certainly strong, Lucian might have been sliced in two if he hadn't avoided the remainder of the attack. Although Lucian was smart enough to know that huis opponent had a weakness to fighting. He was waiting for the right chance to use Hi Jump Kick. Lucian was the first one to strike this time, powering up with Dragon Dance and coming at Bisharp with Dragon Claw, the Bisharp readied two Aerial Ace on both his arms, and Lucian did the same with Dragon Claw. The two then parried each other's moves. The only thing open for Lucian was his mouth, and he took advantage of this by using Crunch. The Bisharp was unexpectedly bitten in the arm, causing his Aerial Ace to disappear, and his arm to falter, this gave Lucian a chance to sidestep the other incoming Aerial Ace, allowing it to miss by stopping his own Dragon Claw. Next, he saw his opening, and went in for the Hi Jump Kick. Clean in the hip, the Hi Jump Kick threw the Bisharp back onto a tree!

The Bisharp got up, dazed. He also seemed to recognize that Lucian was no ordinary fighter. "You... you fight like an elite... a member of the Gold Tribe." the Bisharp said. "Yes, I am of the Gold Tribe!" Lucian replied. Bewildered that the bandit recognized his fighting style. The Bisharp went wide-eyed. "We are of your brethren! We are of the Gold Tribe!" the Bisharp said. "I am Zane Tyrael, Vigil." he said. He had a legitimate title, that proved he was of the Gold Tribe. "Who are you?" he asked, trying to verify if Lucian was telling the truth. "Lucian Tromp, Hoodhide." Lucian replied. "Brother! This has been a misunderstanding." Zane said. "We are of the Gold Tribe! We are survivors! We have just launched an attack on the torturehouse and saved more of our brethren, alongside General Hazone here." Zane explained, and true enough, the Dragonite known as Hazone came up to show himself, he seemed puzzled, wondering what was happening. "Ohno! Nononononononono!" Lucian finally said, taking everything in first. "Oh no, brother, please accept my most humble apologies. I acted before thinking." Lucian said. Looking to the ground in shame. It was only now that he noticed that Zane and the others wore the emblem of the Gold Tribe. How stupid of him!

Luckily for Lucian, Zane was quick to accept. "Worry not, brother. The best warrior is not the one who has made the least mistakes, but the one who has made the most. I forgive you." he said. The Gold Tribe teachings! This Bisharp was certainly of the Gold Tribe. "Come with us, we are on our way to Poseida Ruins, where General Belas has amassed forces to combat the Ancients." Zane said. Lucian went wide-eyed. The Gold Tribe was returning? This was the best news yet! But .... the village. "I would love to, brother, but I owe a debt to a nearby village. They saved my life, and in return I protect them from the Ancients. I must consult them before leaving." he said. Zane looked rather disappointed. "Well, we shall be on our way then." he said. He returned to his group. "Waitwaitwait!" Lucian said. "I will talk to them." he said. Zane nodded. "You know which path we will take if you wish to join us." Zane said, and beckoned for the group to start following him once more. With that, Lucian ran off back to the village.

----------

"Bye, Lucian!" "By Mr. Tromp!" said a couple kids. Lucian Tromp had packed a couple bottles of water and packs of food. His gash had also been treated by the medics of the forest. All the kids who admired him were saying their goodbyes. Although the village was now relatively unprotected, Lucian had taught some of the defense force a few tricks of the trade, so he didn't doubt they'd get on fine. Soon, he caught up with his brethren. He ran up to Zane. "Heyhey! I'm here." He said, catching up with the Bisharp. The group had already made some progress, but looking at the sky, Lucian could tell it would rain soon. Zane looked at him and nodded. "You won't regret bringing me along, brother. With my knowledge of this forest, I can help you make it through with ease. The Forest Pokemon have taught me all they know." he said. "For example, it will rain soon. We should find shelter." Lucian said. "I know how to make a temporary hut from sticks, stones, and vines, and I know the best trees to take shelter under." he continued. He was hoping to make a better impression on Zane and the Gold Tribe than his first. It was true that all the trees looked the same, but studying their density and their visible amount of leaves, Lucian could calculate how much water would actually make it through to them. "Also, I have some berries for supplies." he said, holding up his basket of berries.
