I wouldn't bother trading if there wasn't cloning, honestly. I don't want to lose my hard work. I have my mons as non-redis to avoid them popping up like wildfire everywhere... but to each his own.

Yeah, I think I'm going to start a list of trainers I trade with and a short description of each to prevent people from cloning mine. I don't mind if people redistribute though.

I wouldn't redistribute, because then I'd lose the 'mon in a world without cloning.

I feel like such a noob when I come on. All you guys know each other and talk about RNG (which I suck at ) and I'm like "what?"

Also since I have school starting tomorrow I only could be on during weekends. Maybe weekdays if I get my homework done early.

Mewtwo cloned Pokemon first. The Pokemon Company *must* be okay with it!

Right, but if the prize you were receiving was equally valuable, then surely the trade must go on, right?

Another way to look at it is that cloning provides "insurance" against scamming, so in the event you do get scammed (which likely has happened to pretty much everyone who has traded for long enough), you don't lose a Pokémon that you worked hard to breed, catch, or trade for.

I try to stay out of this but I guess I cannot
The trade cannot go on as there is no way a trader and collector like us can keep it. Think about it, if I am a collector and have a shiny Ho-Oh, you have a mewtwo, I want your mewtwo and you want my shiny Ho-Oh and I want to keep the shiny Ho-Oh but also trade it to get your mewtwo, what should I do? I have to clone it because there is no point in losing my shiny Ho-Oh just to have your Mewtwo. That is just not how collecting pokemon works. what you said may be true but it can only apply to those who only want to finish their pokedex, not collecting pokemons. I hope it makes sense to you.

Ugh >.>

Did you guys not watch pokemon 2000?

You guys are like what happens when lawrence and mewtwo sit down for a cup of tea.

Mewtwo:
"Oh, what's that? You've got a zapdos? Nice trophy, there."

Lawrence:
"Yes, quite. It cost many... Other people their lives and homes to get it!"

Mewtwo:
"Is that so? Here, let me throw it into my blob machine, I'll make you a dozen!"

Lawrence:
"You don't say! Gladly, go right ahead!"

Then Lawrence promptly replaces all the propellers on his flying fortress with tethered zapdos clones. Fun times.

Because Pokemon 2000 has any influence on our decision of cloning Pokemon? :x We're going to continue cloning our Pokemon like it or not.

Well yeah, actually. The creator of a franchise has a certain amount of influence on it's fan base.

I think you guys just aren't hardcore enough.

What do you think event Pokemon are? Do you think Nintendo or other companies catch a single Pokemon over and over? That must be why it's taking them over 2 months to release Arceus! :p

And what's the point of us rnging the same Pokemon over and over? The end result is the same thing. Also, that would make it impossible for me, for example, to distribute one-time event Pokemon like DW starters because they cannot be bred.

I understand where you're coming from, though, but each Pokemon is nothing more than values in a .pkm file. While I wish each individual Pokemon was unique it's just not so, even their "personality" is determined by a number.

That's different. Those are officially licensed Nintendo products. They made the game, you're just some punk with a $15 third party device. You know the "nintendo seal of quality" thing? Well I'm sure it could easily be forged, but what does that make you? Just some guy with too much time and some arts and crafts skills.

But an event's rarity is what makes it valuable. Fair trade states that when an exchange occurs an item of equal or greater value must be given up. When you duplicate an item it's value is cut in half. Do this enough and any mathematician will tell you that the value of the item in question is essentially 0, so when you trade a cloned pokemon you are the one scamming them. When you trade cloned pokemon for cloned pokemon, you're basically wasting your time in my opinion.

When you RNG do you do it on the same day, hour, minute, second, and with the same exact frame, and seed? No. Even two pokemon that are the same species and basically the same setup will have different PIDs. It's all about the process.

This one I had to think about. I've been thinking mostly about this one part, in fact. See, Nintendo is a company. In case you haven't been following along with the times companies are basically ruining the human race.

Now, in that air of competitiveness and this environment of fast paced child centered marketing nintendo still finds time to include moral building, family oriented gameplay into their games, especially pokemon.

Do you think that they make money by doing this? Do you think that's efficient? Hell no. But you know what? It teaches kids that bad guys steal, friends are more valuable than power, and that animal abuse isn't cool. Meanwhile, you and people like you are telling kids that get on the internet that cheating is fun, value is nonexistant, and that animals don't have souls. That's right, animals don't feel. They are after all the real life equivalent of pokemon. That might sound silly to you, but for a kid they are one in the same.

I swear to you that I wouldn't be the person I am today without nintendo. They seeded my creativity at a young age. They taught me that fungi are cool, and sometimes dangerous. They taught me the meaning of value in a low income household where my meals depended on how lucky my parents got at the local casino. My brother dabbles in the black market. My sister is a stay-at-home housewife. My other brother doesn't know the meaning of meta cognition and my little sister is your stereotypical brainwashed "Buy me this" daughter. The difference between me and them? I got a SNES and Super mario world 3 for my 7th birthday.

When you hate on nintendo's code, it becomes personal, so don't give me that ".pkm" bull.

Sanshroo, I could not find any reason to continue this discussion. If you think cloning is hacking, just avoid trading with people who do clone their pokemons, okay?

Question: I need someone to teach me how to RNG in Entralink please

JOhnny, Entralink abuse is basically the same as IV Gen abuse. Check Sephirona's guide on Smogon for information about the differences. Good luck with that!

That is exactly what you do when you RNG Pokémon. It is pointless if you find the perfect frame, time, etc and then do it once and then go find another to do it again to find the exact same Pokémon.

Sounds to me like you don't know what RNG actually is. It doesn't matter what the species is the Pokemon can still have the same PID by reuse of the same seed. I.E. same date, hour, minute, second, and frame.

If you don't like cloning so much why don't you go somewhere else where there is no cloning. Instead of whining about it to us.

I tried RNG abuse again and sucked. Must be because I stopped playing Pokemon. I loved HG/SS, and disliked B/W. I guess B/W made me stop trading/battling/training my 'mons.

Have you tried using Blade's guide? Also, is this for 4th or 5th gen abuse?

Change to a month ahead on your DS, fight a battle... then save. Change back to the right month for your seed and start game... no weather. Have to do this on each try.

sandile, krookodile being one of my favorite shinies. Once i learn how to
RNG shinies, that is.
