When you make OVP threads, do you tend to answer them? Why or why not? Do you care if people answer their own threads?

Well I think it's sometimes weird when people answer their own threads because they have an OP where they can put their answer. Except if you forgot or whatever or didn't think about it yet.

I also sort of think that the poster shouldn't answer sometimes, to keep it neutral. You are just there to create a topic and that is your role and stick to it lol. I know that's pretty conservative of me but whatever.

Yeah I got a good analogy. For me it feels like the host of a contest entering his own contest lmao.

I actually agree with the idea of the OP keeping it neutral by not answering their own question(s). I don't think I've ever answered my own OVP questions on the rare occasion that I made an OVP topic.

Although I remember this one time when Vendak made a topic. It was something about the worst thoughts you have ever conjured within your mind. The thing is though, the way he worded it made me think that he was trying to provoke other people to answer and so I said something to the effect of "answer your own damn question first then maybe I will". It is the Yu-Gi-Oh equivalent of holding Gorz and taunting the opponent to attack you when you are seemingly helpless. "Attack me, I dare you to. MAKE ME BLEED!" Then if they do take your bait and you do have the Gorz, you're all like "HARRRR DROP GORZ, YOU SUCK AHAHAHHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA!" Have you even read this mothertrucker?

It's like yeah I drop this 2700 beat stick in your face who is accompanied by another beat stick. Gorz is such a ruthless card. If you walk carelessly into a Gorz, he will just take a massive dump on your face.

I love Gorz but hate it with a passion when it is dropped on me. Though, I pro beat it today with Super Polying the token and then running over actual gorz! XD

ANYWAY! I don't normally answer my own questions, unless I feel compelled to because of the discussion.

I always answer my own threads, and I'd never post a question that I wouldn't be comfortable answering. But I never answer it in the original post (which prompts a lot of people to say I'm fishing for post count +1, but I don't care) because I think it looks really messy to ask a question and then answer it in the same post. Also I'm scared that if I answer the question in the first post it will encourage others to answer the same way I do, which is not what I want.

I'll answer it if it's something I really want to answer. If not, I'll leave it unanswered and reply later for when I'm bored... and for another +1 to my post count. :P

I always answer them because I won't ask something unless I find the question interesting anyway.

It's a bit weird, since when someone doesn't answer their own question--or at least leave a message saying that they will answer their own question--I assume they're only posting for the sake of extra postcount and I judge them a little. But I really have no place to judge because when I do post polls, I rarely answer them in the opening post. That's mainly because I think the answer is a distraction from the question and I find a lot of people don't answer it properly if the question isn't the main content of the opening post... but I also do it for the extra postcount I get from posting again later in the thread. 8D

I almost never answer in the OP, because it could influence other people's answers, and just feels kinda weird in general to do it that way to me. I usually let other people answer a few times, until I see a post I want to reply to, then make my answer in that same post.

I guess I have the opposite view of Yoshikkko/Drakow in that I find it weird if the OP doesn't answer his/her own thread. To me, on a psychological level, I guess it just feels like the OP is some voyeur watching the discussion unfold without taking an active role in its development. (This is all under the subconscious, mind you.) That being said, I never like answering the poll in the first post: often it just makes the first post a little tl;dr so it puts people off from answering the question. Usually I'll respond in under a week to my own questions - once the discussion has a little steam going.

I'll answer the ones I feel comfortable answering or apply to me, I wont if I dont have an answer for it or dont want to reveal the information the thread is asking for. Most OVP threads are perfectly fine and I like posting in them as long as they are relevant to something that Ive evperienced/do personally, it all depends on the thread.

Depends. There's no particular reason why I would or wouldn't. I just pick in that moment whatever I feel like doing. I don't care what anyone else chooses to do.

I do. I generally won't make an OVP thread unless it's something that applies to me and that I can readily answer. I view it as a courtesy... if I want to find this out about other members, I should at least post my own response to what I'm asking.

I usually answer my own question in the first post. Too lazy to go post in the thread again. I wonder if people find that distracting? I always bold the main part of the question and the answer's after the question, but I can't help but wonder sometimes. :s

I don't make OVP threads often, but if I do make them, I answer my own question so that anyone who looks at the thread has an idea on how to answer.

I prefer to answer the thread in a later post, since I see a first post as an introduction to a topic, and your own views kinda deduct from that. I don't mind what others do though.

Not really, I mean I used to a few times, but now, it just seems a bit weird. I usually state my answer in the question when I feel like answering.

I do it if I had a logical reason why I posted it to begin with or a reasoning behind the thread. If not, I feel it's weird to answer in the OP for me because people are looking for the important parts of the question in the OP and having the answer there distracts and confuses people to me, haha. Maybe I underestimate posters...

I've only made one thread here, (but i'm sure i'll make more) and I answered it. I feel that if I ask a question I must answer it too, online or IRL. It somewhat angers me if the OP asks a question but doesn't answer it.

I have made some before, and answered them, yes. I always tend to answer my own question in the same first post though.

Doesn't matter to me whether they answer their own thread, although it's interesting to hear their own 2 cents once in a while.
