Update 6:

Bug Monotype Challenge on Fire Red

This was the most annoying bit of it all so far. In Fuchsia, I probably paid to get into the Safari Zone ofter 50 times to get myself a Scyther and Venomoth to complete my Bug roster. After that, I made my way back to Pallet Town and got a Snorlax to surf me to Cinnabar and stored it right away. The Pokemon Mansion was long, only because of the amount of Pokemon that appeared, but I eventually made it to the Secret Key and used an Escape Rope to get out. Shortly after, I made my way to the gym and, surprise surprise, got every question correct and ended up facing Blaine. Being a fire-type gym leader this was always gonna be a challenge. I lost quite a few times, but then Butterfree stepped up to the occasion. YAY!

I'll be taking up the Monotype Challenge after reading and watching them on YouTube.

Username: Twihiki_Amias
Type:Water;Normal;Electric;Fire; All Separately.
Challengeingle for Each type. *But will do one for now.*
Game(s): Fire Red (Will be the 1st one: Water) I may do Sapphire/Ruby for the other types listed and maybe a Hack of which I'll ponder on later.

I have actually already started on my Water Mono and have made it to Pewter City and have easily defeated Brock with my Squirtle. I have now obtained a Magicarp from the guy you sells you it for $500 Poke Dollars/Yen, it is now a Gyarado: Water/Flying
That now makes 2 until I encounter another water type perhaps.

Water-type Challenge (Johto): Update 2

A lot happened team-wise in this update. First thing I did was Surf to Route 42 and search for a Marill. After like 10 minutes a male Marill appeared and I captured it and named it Bubbles. Then, while traveling to Olivine City, Bubbles evolved! After arriving at our destination, a was given a Good Rod. As I headed towards the harbor, the Odd Egg evolved into...
Spoiler:

THIS. named it Minaj

First try catch of a Chinchou! Named her Lampy because it's funny. Then I decided to go ALL THE WAY BACK to Mahogany Town to catch the Red Gyarados. The freaking Gyarados nearly wiped out the team save Ralph and Bubbles. Caught him and named him Doomkraken. Then I went down to Mr. Pokémon's house and traded Doomkraken's Red Scale for an. Exp. Share. Popped it on Bubbles for a while (later switched it to Lampy) and cleared the Lighthouse. Then I surfed to Cianwood, grabbed the SecretPotion, and trained a bit on the water routes nearby (Route 40 and 41 I believe. While training, Lampy evolved. Chuck was easy business, Primeape was taken down by Ralph and Floopy and Lamp soloed Poliwrath. Thunder Wave was REALLY handy. (as well as Hypnosis missing) Saved and now as I am reflecting, I realize that I don't have a HM slave or ANYONE who can use Fly...AAARRRRGGHGHGHGH!

Up Next:
The next update will probably be similar to this one, as I am training throughout the ENTIRE Johto region. Jasmine and Pryce and possibly Claire will be taken down...sometime.

If anyone cares about the story that I made up for my UMC's, check this spoiler
Spoiler:

The Story: 17 special people ended up being chosen to be Type Masters! (don't freaking know why) They are sent to 5 regions (via something along the lines of the Animus for Assassin's Creed, like Animi Avatars) to train and conquer the specific regions with their selected type.
(Brooke: The Chosen Water-type Master) She started with Johto, which is irregular for Type Masters to do, usually starting in Kanto. Ever since finding out about Suicune, she has wanted to capture it, but cannot use it. (A little rule I made for myself: You may capture minor legendaries if they correspond to the type, but DO NOT USE.)

The Chase is On...

UPDATE #1

Pokemon Yellow - Fighting Monotype Challenge

-After getting my Pikachu (Kit) I promptly set off to catch a Mankey outside of Viridian City.
-Caught a Mankey and named her Apple. (:
-Grinded until about level 7 and then entered Viridian Forest. Karate Chopped my way through gaining many levels along the way! :3
-Took on Brock and kicked his behind!! (Low Kick, that is! )
-Traversed Route 3, beat all of the trainers and then worked my way through Mt. Moon.
-Creamed Team Rocket and made it through to Cerulean.
-Beat Gary. No sweat. Pretty sure I used Karate Chop twice and Low Kick twice.
-Beat those Nugget Bridge kids and saved Bill from staying a Pokemon FOREVER.
-Got back the stolen TM and then took on Misty.
-After a couple of attempts, Misty was beaten and Apple evolved!! YAY.
Made it through route 6 and arrived in Vermillion City!

*sigh* This run seems to be more like a Solo Run than a Fighting Pokemon Monotype Challenge!! Apple is getting lonely! T-T

Primeape (Apple) - Lvl. 29

-Fury Swipes
-Focus Energy
-Low Kick
-Karate Chop

Bug Monotype on Fire Red

Not much to say here at all. Just that I completely forgot about Sabrina, went to Saffron City and demolished Team Rocket, likewise with Sabrina. Straight after, calmly made my way back to Viridian City and easily took care of Giovanni!

Alright, time for a big update:

Ultimate Ice-Mono: Crystal

- Skipped over to Olivine to catch a Shellder and named her "Pearl"

- Trained Pearl up a bit then evolved her in to Cloyster

- Went back to Ecruteak and beat the Kimono Girls for the almighty "HM03 Surf"

- Blitzed through Morty's Gym then beat him for the
Fog Badge

- Luckily, I messed up setting the time on my game and it was Friday at the time, so went back to Union Cave and caught a Lapras and named him "Plesio"

- Sequence broke all the way to Mahogany where I met Lance and cleared out the Team Rocket Hideout to get Whirlpool from him

- Skated through the Mahogany Gym and fought Ice against Ice with Pryce, though I emerged victorious and received the
Glacier Badge

- Made the long trek to the Whirl Islands where I caught a Seel and named him "ChillyBill"

- Payed Jasmine a visit at the Lighthouse, then swam all the way to Cianwood

- Grabbed the Secret Potion for Amphy, then entered the Cianwood gym where I had a surprisingly easy time with Chuck and left with the
Storm Badge

- Swam back to Olivine to give Amphy the potion, then destroyed Jasmine and obtained the
Mineral Badge

- Went to Goldenrod and did the boring and tedious task of kicking Team Rocket out of the Radio Tower

- Flew back to Mahogany, then made my way to the Ice Path where I caught a Swinub called Pumba and a Jynx called Kiss me!

- Emerged in Blackthorn City and entered the Hell that is Blackthorn Gym

- Trolled through the Gym then trolled Clair herself for an easy win and the
Rising Badge

- Went back to New Bark Town to receive the Master Ball then began my trek east and arrived in Kanto

Okay, I'm close to the Indigo Plateau now so I'll post my full Team Roster when I beat the Elite Four, which shouldn't be far off.

Quick update for Bug monotype
Wattson forced me to level one of my Dustox to level 30 and the other to level 25 before I was finally able to beat him. I thought I won once I defeated Magneton but then he sent out Manectric and I nearly flipped my table. Waddled over to bulbapedia, discovered that it doesn't carry Bite, and tossed Shedinja and laughed at the flailing dog going berserk trying bat at the liddle ghosty. I WANT MY ANORITH ALREADY!

- Took Diglett's Cave to Pewter City and easily beat Brock for the Boulder Badge
- Swam my way to the Seafoam Islands and doused Blaine's flames for the Volcano Badge
- Flew back to Viridian City and actually had a close fight with Blue but managed to win the Earth Badge
- Made the long trek up Mt.Silver and faced of against Red, the one who became the very best, like no one ever was... until I made him look like a sissy

My first challenge (and iirc, my first post? Signed up and then left for a while ) So let's see how this goes! I've decided to go for a starter type to make things easier for myself with catching and whatever. I also need to purchase a copy of Black, but that probably won't be for some time yet :D

FIRST UPDATE: So, started on Blue, obviously picked Squirtle, bought the Magikarp off the guy in the Mt. Moon Pokecenter and trained that up. Went on with those 2 for a while, forgot where to find the old rod, so had them up to getting Eevee, which I immediately evolved to Vaporeon. Then got Lapras off the bloke in Silph. Just beaten Sabrina and about to move onto Cycling Road. Moves are pretty standard, although Gyrados has T-bolt, Vaporean Ice Beam and Blastoise EQ, so got some fairly decent coverage. Not had any problems yet.

Team:
Steve the Gyarados: Lv 41
Bob the Blastoise: Lv 40
Len the Vaporeon: Lv 40
Gerald the Lapras: Lv 29

(Sapphire) However due to losing the save I may have to restart, but that is fine by me.

Though one thing I want to note: I am not, and I repeat, I am not gonna play through Unova. Seeing as that's the region that gave me the bad taste in the mouth, it'd be completely against what I'm aiming for right now to even touch any Gen 5 game. I started without Gen 5 and I'm gonna finish this without it. Being on the Champion list is of no significance to me. If this means I'm not going on it, then by all means. Only reason I'm posting here is to post the updates which I thought added to the experience. I am also gonna play by the old rules.

However, I don't know when I'll start. Could be next week, could be the end of the month, could be never. Hopefully it'll be sooner than later. Reason I'm posting right now is to see if it is alright with the OP to do as I please.
Don't worry man, I don't blame you for hating Unova. It's perfectly reasonable to. I will put you in the Ultimate challengers list when I update, and just cut it off at Sinnoh. That way your recognized, but you can always go back and finish Unova if you ever decide to finish the Challenge!

Haha, sorry, just deleted my post because I remembered I probably won't have the time for this challenge. I thought it would be better to repost that later if I'm able to squeeze this in my time somehow, and if I got around to doing it. It was probably a bad idea posting when I didn't have my mind set on doing the challenge right now anyway.

  • After beating Wake I chased after the Galactic Grunt and got the Secretpotion from Cynthia, did all the stuff in Celestic Town and got surf.
  • I then flew to Sandgem Town and surfed to route 221 where I caught Not A Tree the Sudowoodo, which I replaced the Onix I had with.
  • I grinded Not A Tree a few levels to get her up to the rest of my team and also grinded the last 2 levels out to make Tank #3 evolve into a Rhydon, FINALLY!
  • I then went to the move tutor to teach Not A Tree ice punch and Tank #3 Fire Punch, then I went to the move relearner and taught Not A Tree Wood Hammer.
  • I surfed over to Canalave and beat my rival, got HM 4 from Riley on Iron Island and finally took on Byron. Beat him pretty easily, Jude's Earthquake and Tank #3's Fire Punch and Hammer Arm, he never stood a chance.
  • Well now I got 6 badges and I saved the game before talking to my rival outside the library to play another day.

UPDATE #2

-Kicked Surge's butt with Apple! ;D
-Ran over to the Rock tunnel to catch a Machop (Clay) to add to my team!!
-Went to Celadon and beat Erika.
-Went to the Game Corner to clean out Team Rocket.
-Headed over to Saffron to take on the Fighting Gym and obtained a Hitmonchan (Baxter).
-Went to Fuchsia and got the Good Rod. Then went the the guy's backyard to catch a Poliwag (Guppie)!!
- Trained him up on the Bike Path and the trainers in the surrounding area.
-About to take on Koga!!

My mini-journal up there is really vague and not too interesting ^-^;. But so much has happened since my last update and I was just trying to hit the highlights. Oh and I forgot to say that I also got the Charmander outside of Cerulean for my HM Slave. His name is M. I was going to name him Match but I hit the wrong button and his name submitted before I was done. ): Oh well!
