After a lot of time spent grinding I have finally beat Red!
I had to get my levels so high because his Pikachu kept OHKO'ing my entire team!
Now that I'm done with SoulSilver for my Normal challenge I'm now going to finish off SoulSilver for my Ghost challenge.
Emerald for this will come when that's done.

Dropping the Dragon-type challenge, too much for me atm.

I will change it for an easier Water-type in Blue. :D

Update #1

Basically, I soloed the game until Cerulean City with Squirtle/Wartortle. As soon as I could get to the Daycare, I left there my Magikarp and had a whole friggin' ride with my Bicycle, 'til he reached Lv. 19.

I took it back with me and evolved the guy, now a fearsome Gyarados. I trained him in Route 11 and S.S. Anne, then took it to the Gym, where he defeated Lt. Surge with ease.

Why he didn't use Thunderbolt, I don't know...

Team

Wartortle Lv. 31 - Mega Punch, Bite, Bubble, Water Gun
Gyarados Lv. 29 - Body Slam, Bite, Bubblebeam, Dragon Rage
Farfetch'd Lv. 15 - HM Cut Slave

Update #2

In a very boring afternoon, I made my way to the Pokèmon League. During the journey, I was able to complete the team.

I grabbed an Eevee in Celadon City, which quickly became a Vaporeon.

Once I got to Fuchsia City, I used my brand new Good Rod to catch a new team member, a tiny little Poliwag.

During my adventure inside Silph Co, I was gifted with a Lapras, which became the fifth team member.

I was risky about getting a sixth Pokèmon that far in the adventure, but I took that risk, and I got myself a Kabuto. What a mess.

Anyway, I'm ready for the Elite Four!

EDIT: Elite Four defeated. Challenge completed. :D

Final Team

Blastoise, Lv. 51 - Blizzard, Surf, Strength, Earthquake
Gyarados, Lv. 50 - Body Slam, Bite, Surf, Dragon Rage
Vaporeon, Lv. 51 - Ice Beam, Surf, Toxic, Skull Bash
Poliwrath, Lv. 50 - Body Slam, Surf, Counter, Submission
Lapras, Lv. 53 - Body Slam, Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, Psychic
Kabutops, Lv. 50 - Slash, Surf, Seismic Toss, Harden (sucker)

Hey guys. Sorry I havn't been updating on my Pokemon White Normal Monotype at all, but I've been having complications in my life right now, like school and *coughsomethingstupidaheadcough* being annoyed with some stupid moderators on another site who don't know what the hell they are thinking (Don't ask me to explain. They just don't know Kid Icarus: Uprising from Pokemon).

So I'm going to ask that I'm dropped from this challenge. I don't think I can handle it now, and I have failed to update you guys since August on it.

EDIT: I hate this phone. I accidently pushed reply before I was finished.

owait... guess I'll have to make do with pachirisu and shinx

Ultimate Bug Monotype Challenge: Silberne Edition
7/16

Okay, so I went and fought Hartwig for my 5th badge, then I returned to fight Jasmin, and lost. I did a lot of grinding until my team was fully evolved (except Scyther) at level 31 (and 33 for Yanmega). Then I fought her again and earned my 6th badge. I then went to the See des Zorns and proceeded to kick Team Rocket all over the place. I beat Norbert for my 7th badge, then traveled to beat Team Rocket up some more until they disbanded. Yay me!

Duplicates are allowed, but discouraged where possible. But it is legal to have more than one of the same mon in your team.

You are allowed to skip Kanto since the type did not exist yet. Dark is in SS. But the first one is not til after the 3rd badge, unless you have a Pokewalker, so you're allowed to hack or trade ONE dark or dark evolving Pokemon that is within your Johto Pokedex. I recommend Sneasel since you can't find it til Mt Silver, but any Dark type is acceptable as long as it doesn't exceed your team level.

Quote originally posted by AoTora:
Ok I think that I signed up for ghost mono type run through fr - I wasn't on this community for a while because school came in between ..

Now I realized that I can only catch ghastly that's ghost type in FR. And ghastly is found pretty late in game. So can I use randomizer in order to randomize ghastly as starter? I tried to do hacking in before - and whenever I tried to hack in a certain pokemon that pokemon remaind to be the only wild pokemon found through the entire game - which was pretty annoying since it was impossible to train in the grass :/
You actually signed up for a randomized version of FR, so all ghost types should be available to you, assuming you can find one. If you want to specify Gastly as a starter that would be fine since it would be impossible to know when you'll find your first ghost.

Updated through post #2436. Sorry for the delay.

my progress! (electric type in sinnoh)

- I started the game
- I chose chimchar as my starter so he would choose piplup
- I used leer on the starly so it would leave. my starter gaind no EXP.
- I fled from all battles untill I could catch on route 202
- I used 5 pokeballs to catch bidoof as an HM slave
- I used 1 pokeball to catch starly as another HM slave
- I failed to catch a shinx w/my remaining pokeballs
- I bought more
- I caught one
- I boxed my starter
- I healed after every battle to train since a lvl 3 shinx can't take down more than 1 pokemon w/o healing
- I beat the first trainer. I still healed repeatedly
- I boxed my HM slaves when I got to the next town
- I trained some more. shinx (nicknamed "shock") is now level 10
- I beat the friend
- I made it to the first gym
- I failed
- I trained some more. shinx can't be used solely. it's too weak.
- I evolved it. It was unexpected.
- I beat the gym.

By the time you can get the National Dex in FRLG, the game is already finished and so is unnecessary. The only other way to get is by hacking which is not allowed except for certain circumstances. Also, you would have to find the item which is also not available until post game.

Final Update for Fire Red Fire run:

Spoiler:
- Fuchsia City and finding HM's in Safari Zone
- After getting Strenght and Surf, beat Koga
- Evolved Jaen
- Cleared few Routes that I missed and head to Cinnibar Island
- At Seafom Island Zar beat Articuno
- Found Key to Gym
- Blaine's Fire attacks did nothing to Jaen and Galle, because of Flash Fire
- Went to First Island with Bill
- Caught Ponyta, last member of my team, nicknamed her Gabi
- Did story stuff on first three Islands and went back to Kanto
- Zar learned Blast Burn
- Gabi evolved
- Thanks to Zar, beat Giovanni Ground attacks
- Beat Rival once again
- Clear Victory Road
- Start E4 battles
- Dewgong took down Gabi and Galle with Surf, but Zar saved the day, Lorelei down
- Bruno wasn't so hard... but both Onixs took down Zar
- Agatha was piece of cake...
- Aerodactyl was something imposible, but after all, I beat him... others dragons weren't so hard
- Green... Pidgiot was easy, but then Blastoise came out... Thanks to Revives, he ran out PP of Hydro Pump and then,
he was just turtle... Rhydon... How it could survive 2 Blast Burns? At this point, Zar was my last Pokemon, so Blast Burn was big
risk... After all, Rhydon was down and next came out Alakazam... Even him survived 1 Blast Burn, but it wasn't able to
survive Wing Attack... Exeggutor... Started with Sleep Powder, then miss Seed Bomb (lucky), Last Blast Burn and we both ended with 1 Pokemon
Zar vs Arcanine... Fire Showdown... And Green used so many Full Restores... But after all, Arcanine fainted... Zar won with only 2 PP of Wing Attack left after league

Team:
Spoiler:

Zar
Lvl. 59
Blaze, Bashful, Male
- Flamethower
- Slash
- Dragon Claw
- Wing Attack

Jaen
Lvl. 52
Flash Fire, Careful, Male
- Flamethower
- ExtremeSpeed
- Odor Sleuth
- Agility

Galle
Lvl. 54
Flash Fire, Serious, Male
- Bite
- Quick Attack
- Sand-Attack
- Flamethower

Gabi
Lvl. 50
Flash Fire, Impish, Female
- Fire Blast
- Bounce
- Stomp
- Secret Power

So, I have to say this was really fun and challenge at some points. Zar was really best Pokemon in this challenge. He took down Lance's and Green's teams alone...
I think that Gabi was weakest, maybe because I couldn't train her so much as others...

Quick update - Electric/SS

The best way to not fall asleep in class is to... update? Eh. I've got all 8 badges now, just about to go hit the Whirl Islands and knock Lugia out of the air (for what must be the 10th time now). Defeating Claire was easy but the Kimono girls were hard. Explain that logic!

Current team:
Magneton Lv. 43
Lanturn Lv. 43
Ampharos Lv. 43
Jolteon Lv. 23

Platinum Ground Monotype, Update #6

Spoiler:
-Chased the Galactic Grunt to Lake Valor.
-Got the Psyduck out of the way on Route 210 with Cynthia's SecretPotion.
-Went through the foggy part of Route 210.
-Arrived in Celestic Town.
-Beat Cyrus in the ruins. The only hard Pokémon of his was that Sneasel.
-Got HM03 for Surf and taught it to Flipside.
-Went east from Jubilife through Route 218.
-Arrived in Canalave City.
-Swapped Morton for Uranium.
-Beat Barry; he was harder than I expected since Jade was downed by Staraptor and Floatzel.
-Checked out Routes 220 and 221.
-Beat all the trainers at Iron Island to get some EXP.
-Traded Uranium with the Metal Coat to get him to evolve into Steelix.
-Beat the boring trainers in the Canalave Gym.
-Challenged the Gym Leader, Byron!

Canalave Gym overview:
Team entering the fight: Pygmy LV38 / Amulet Coin - Sand-Attack, Crunch, Yawn, Earthquake
Jade LV39 - Swords Dance, Earthquake, Thunder Fang, Aerial Ace
Flipside LV39 - Mud Shot, Surf, Earthquake, Yawn
Uranium LV37 / Exp. Share - Tackle, Screech, Rock Throw, Rock Tomb
Forester LV40 / Wood Hammer, Earthquake, Leech Seed, Razor Leaf
Magnum LV39 - Tail Whip, Stomp, Rock Blast, Scary Face

He starts off with Magneton while I open with Pygmy, who whips up a Sandstorm. He uses Flash Cannon, which does just under half, before I kill him with Earthquake. Me: 68/131 HP.
Next up is Steelix. I use Earthquake, which looks like it does half, but it's hard to tell exactly, and he uses Flash Cannon, which doesn't kill me, but it lowers my Special Defense. Him: 53% or so HP, Me: 29/131 HP and -1 Sp Def. After looking at what I have, and seeing that Forester is higher level and has more Attack, I send him in, as he uses Earthquake which doesn't do much at all. Me: 111/132 HP. I use Earthquake, which kills him.
Finally is his Bastiodon. I use Earthquake, which kills him in one hit with a critical hit. I did not need that, but still nice to top things off.

-Was told by Barry to go to the Canalave Library.

Here's my team:
Spoiler:
(M) "Forester", Level 40
Nature: Brave
Moves: Earthquake, Leech Seed, Razor Leaf, Wood Hammer

(M) "Uranium", Level 37
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Rock Head
Moves: Iron Tail, Rock Throw, Rock Tomb, Screech

White 2 Ground Monotype, Update #7

Spoiler:
-Met Cedric Juniper.
-Was thanked by Hugh and his sister for saving her Purrloin-er, Liepard.
-Got the Ground-type Champ Medal.
-Went to Alder's house in Floccesy Town and challenged him!

This was actually my second try, because first time I sent in Gharial against Volcarona and forgot that I got rid of Rock Slide for Outrage, then Volcarona used Quiver Dance and swept the half of my team that was remaining.

Pokémon Trainer Alder overview:
Team entering the fight: VampirMoth LV58 / Expert Belt - Dragon Claw, Earth Power, Fly, Rock Slide
Top Hat LV57 / Light Clay - Earth Power, Light Screen, Psychic, Reflect
Siberia LV57 / Soft Sand - Earthquake, Ice Fang, Superpower, Thrash
Mecoptera LV60 - Acrobatics, Bulldoze, Swords Dance, Thunder Fang
Megatron LV58 / Lax Incense - Drain Punch, Earthquake, Ice Punch, Shadow Punch
Gharial LV60 / BlackGlasses - Crunch, Earthquake, Low Kick, Outrage

He starts off with Accelgor while I open with VampirMoth. He uses Bug Buzz, which does less than half, while I use Fly. I avoid a Bug Buzz then kill him. Me: 102/174 HP.
Next up is Bouffalant. I send in Megatron, and he uses Head Charge, which fails against me. He uses Earthquake, which does less than half, while I hit with Drain Punch for slightly less than half. Him: 52% or so HP, Me: 162/182 HP after recovery. He uses Earthquake again, while I use Drain Punch and kill him. Me: 150/182 HP. VampirMoth grows to Level 59 after that.
Following is Conkeldurr. I start with Earthquake, which doesn't do too much, while he uses it too. Him: 62% or so HP, Me: 71/182 HP. I send in Top Hat, and he uses Earthquake, which fails because of Levitate. I set up Light Screen to get ready for Volcarona, as he uses Stone Edge and misses. I then go for Psychic, which doesn't quite kill him, and he uses Poison Jab. Him: 10% or so HP, Me: 123/151 HP. He uses his Full Restore, and I hit with Psychic for more than half before using it again next turn and killing him.
Next up is Escavalier. Ugh, really wish I had Rainier right about now. Anyway, I send in Gharial as death fodder as he uses X-Scissor, which kills me in one hit. I send in Megatron and use Earthquake, which does less than half before he kills me with Iron Head. Him: 54% or so HP. I send in Mecoptera and use Acrobatics, which doesn't quite get the job done, and he uses Iron Head again and gets a critical hit. Him: 12% or so HP, Me: 50/172 HP. I kill him next turn with another Acrobatics. And Light Screen wears off.
Afterward is Volcarona. Yeah, great timing for that to happen! He uses Psychic and finishes me off. I send in VampirMoth again, and use Rock Slide, which kills him in one hit.
Finally is his Braviary. I use Rock Slide and miss, while he uses Superpower and nearly kills me. Him: Full health and -1 Attack and Defense, Me: 19/177 HP. I use Dragon Claw, which does half, before he kills me with Crush Claw. I send in Siberia, and he uses Rock Slide, but it barely does anything, and I kill him with Ice Fang, ending the battle.
That was a good fight. Everyone got some decent usage except Gharial, and I think it was challenging enough. It required some decent strategy, so i'm glad things worked out well.

-Met Benga, Alder's grandson, and was invited to the White Treehollow.
-Went through Pinwheel Forest with Cheren.
-Beat the trainers in outer Pinwheel Forest.
-Arrived in Nacrene City.
-Caught a Quagsire on Route 8 named Andy.
-Arrived in Icirrus City.
-Took on the Shadow Triad. They were rather easy because of type coverage and Gharial's Moxie.
-Caught a Palpitoad in outer Pinwheel Forest named Beatboom and used a Rare Candy to evolve her into Seismitoad.
-Beat the trainers on Route 3 and Wellspring Cave.
-Arrived in Striaton City.
-Got TM26 for Earthquake on Route 15.
-Beat the trainers on Route 2.
-Arrived in Accumula Town.
-Beat the two Backpackers on Route 1 with the fossils.
-Arrived in Nuvema Town.
-Met the BW protagonist's mother, and found Professor Juniper and her father, and got the Super Rod.
-Went to Victory Road and followed N's Zoroark into his castle.
-Approached the depths of the castle and was challenged by N and Reshiram!

N overview:
His only Pokémon was Reshiram. I began with Top Hat, and he used Fusion Flare for over half my health, but I lived and set up Light Screen before he killed me. Then I brought in Megatron, who took less than half from Fusion Flare and almost OHKOed him with Earthquake. He then used his Full Restore, but I then killed him in one hit with a critical hit, which got Megatron to Level 68.

-Got the Light Stone from N.
-Beat the trainers on Routes 1 and 18.
-Went to the Plasma Frigate and found Colress!

Pokémon Trainer Colress overview:
Team entering the fight: VampirMoth LV67 / Lax Incense - Dragon Claw, Earth Power, Fly, Rock Slide
Top Hat LV68 / Light Clay - Earth Power, Light Screen, Psychic, Reflect
Siberia LV68 / Soft Sand - Earthquake, Ice Fang, Superpower, Light Screen
Megatron LV69 / Expert Belt - Drain Punch, Earthquake, Ice Punch, Shadow Punch
Gharial LV68 / Amulet Coin - Crunch, Earthquake, Low Kick, Outrage
Boombeat LV68 / Mystic Water - Surf, Earthquake, Hydro Pump, Strength

He starts off with Magneton while I open with VampirMoth. I use Rock Slide, which does pathetic damage but causes him to flinch, which I only did because of Sturdy. Him: 95% or so HP. I then use Earth Power and kill him in one hit. VampirMoth grows to Level 68 after that.
Next up is Magnezone. This time I start with Earth Power to get rid of his Full Restore, then he lives with Sturdy and uses Flash Cannon to hit hard. Him: 1 HP, Me: 75/205 HP. He uses his Full Restore, then I use Earth Power again before finishing him with Dragon Claw.
After that is Klinklang. I use Rock Slide, which pops his balloon, and luckily flinches him again. I then go for Earth Power, which knocks him low, but he kills me with Giga Impact. Him: 30% or so HP. I then send in Siberia and kill him with Earthquake.
Following is Rotom, ugh. He's faster and kills me in one hit with Hydro Pump, but loses some of his HP because of Life Orb. Him: 90% or so HP. I send in Top Hat, but the exact same thing happens. Him: 80% or so HP. I bring in Boombeat, and he burns me with Will-o-Wisp before I use Strength, which does pathetic damage. Him: 3/4 HP, Me: 205/234 HP and burned. He uses Hydro Pump, which nearly kills me, but I BARELY live and do some alright damage with Hydro Pump before succumbing to burn. Him: 37% or so HP. I send in Gharial and use Crunch, which finally finishes Rotom. Whew! I also get the boost from Moxie.
Next up is Beheeyem, who dies in one hit to Crunch, and I get another Moxie boost. Gharial grows to Level 69 after that.
Finally is Metagross, who also dies in one hit to Earthquake, ending the battle.
That Rotom was pretty scary, so i'm glad I was able to get it weakened enough to allow Gharial to finish the job. I do wish I had let Megatron fight in there somewhere, though.

-Obtained another Master Ball from Colress.
-Went through Clay Tunnel and battled some of the trainers there to gain some EXP.
-Came through the entrance to Twist Mountain, where I beat the trainers there.
-Challenged Game Freak Nishino.

Game Freak Nishino overview:
Gharial LV71 / Expert Belt - Crunch, Outrage, Low Kick, Earthquake
VampirMoth LV71 / Amulet Coin - Rock Slide, Fly, Earth Power, Dragon Claw
Boombeat LV71 / Mystic Water - Surf, Hydro Pump, Earthquake, Strength
Siberia LV71 / Lax Incense - Earthquake, Superpower, Ice Fang, Light Screen
Megatron LV71 / Black Belt - Shadow Punch, Ice Punch, Drain Punch, Earthquake
Top Hat LV70 / Light Clay - Earth Power, Psychic, Reflect, Light Screen

He starts off with Clefable while I open with Gharial. I begin with Earthquake, which does just less than half, while he uses Cosmic Power. Him: 60% or so HP and +1 Defense and Sp Def. I then use Low Kick, and he misses with Sing. Him: 37% or so HP. I go for Earthquake again, but he barely lives and uses Metronome, which gets Giga Drain. WUT?! Him: 30% or so HP, Me: 139/239 HP. I use Earthquake again, which kills him, and I gain Moxie boost.
Afterward is Azumarill. I use Earthquake, which does well over half, but he kills me with Aqua Tail. Him: 1/3 or so HP. I send in Siberia and kill him with Earthquake.
Next up is Lickilicky. I start off with Earthquake again, while he uses Fire Blast. Ouch! Him: 2/3 or so HP, Me: 31/245 HP. I switch out for Top Hat, and he uses Earthquake…ha! Levitate says no sir. Him: 73% or so HP. I set up Light Screen as he uses Blizzard, which misses. Him: 80% or so HP. I use Psychic, which doesn't do much at all, before he hits with Power Whip. Him: 2/3 or so HP, Me: 67/185 HP. I use Psychic again before he kills me with another Power Whip. Him: 1/2 HP. I send in Siberia again and kill him with Superpower.
Next up is his ace, Snorlax. I send in Megatron as he uses…Crunch?! Are you serious?! Guess he actually got clever. Me: 86/222 HP. I use Drain Punch, which…gets a critical hit and kills him in one hit AND heals me to full. Muhaha.
Following is Wigglytuff. I use Drain Punch again, which does over half, as he uses…Thunderbolt? You've gotta be kidding me. I kill him with another Drain Punch, then Light Screen wears off.
Lastly is Alomomola. He's faster and uses Toxic, while I hit him with Earthquake. Him: 3/4 or so HP, Me: 209/222 HP and badly poisoned. I send in Siberia as he fails with Protect, then kills me with Aqua Jet. Him: 15/16 or so HP. So I send in VampirMoth, and he uses Aqua Jet again before I hit him with Earth Power. Him: 64% or so HP, Me: 170/213 HP. I use Earth Power again, then he hits with Toxic. Him: 40% or so HP, Me: 157/213 HP and badly poisoned. I switch out for Megatron and he fails with Protect. Him: 46% or so HP, Me: 196/222 HP. He uses Protect, which blocks my Shadow Punch. Him: 52% or so HP, Me: 170/222 HP. He uses Aqua Jet again before I hit with Earthquake. Him: 30% or so HP, Me: 65/222 HP. He uses his Full Restore, then I go for Earthquake. Him: 70% or so HP, Me: 13/222 HP. He kills me with Aqua Jet. Him: 76% or so HP. I bring in Boombeat, and he's faster and hits with Toxic before I use Earthquake. Him: 60% or so HP, Me: 229/244 HP. Then he uses Aqua Jet before taking another Earthquake. Him: 40% or so HP, Me: 163/244 HP. He then uses Protect like a noob. Him: 47% or so HP, Me: 118/244 HP. Then he uses Aqua Jet, while I hit with another Earthquake. Him: 1/3 or so HP, Me: 24/244 HP. He then uses Protect, and I die from poison damage. Him: 40% or so HP. I only have VampirMoth left, so I send her in. He uses Aqua Jet before I hit with Earth Power, but he barely holds on. Him: 1/8 or so HP, Me: 105/213 HP. He then uses Protect. Him: 1/5 HP, Me: 79/244 HP. He uses Protect and fails, and I kill him with Earth Power, ending the battle.
That was...weird, I don't know what the heck happened. You are stupid, Alomomola! That was going well until Alomomola came out with its stupid Toxic and Protect and i'm just glad I won, goodness.

-Challenged his associate, Morimoto.

Game Freak Morioto overview:
Team entering the fight: Same as before, except Gharial has the BlackGlasses and Megatron has the Expert Belt. All others remain unchanged.
He starts off with Liepard while I open with Gharial. He uses Fake Out. Me: 201/240 HP. He uses Grass Knot and does over half, while I use Earthquake, and he barely lives. Him: 2% or so HP, Me: 71/240 HP. I use Earthquake again and knock him right near that point. He then uses…Sucker Punch? Even though he's clearly faster and could have killed me with Grass Knot again. Anyway, I kill him with another Low Kick and gain Moxie boost. Me: 17/240 HP and +1 Attack.
Next up is Simipour. I'm faster this time and use Earthquake, which knocks him low, but his Petaya Berry activates before he kills me with Crunch. Him: 4% HP and +1 Sp Atk. I bring in VampirMoth and kill him with Dragon Claw.
After that is Zebstrika. He uses Pursuit, while I hit with Earth Power. Him: 28% or so HP, Me: 175/214 HP. I switch in Megatron - good timing, because he uses Giga Impact, which i'm immune to. He uses Pursuit before I kill him with Shadow Punch. Me: 151/223 HP.
Following is Simisear. He uses Crunch (at least he's being smart) and I barely live, then I kill him in one hit with Earthquake. Megatron grows to Level 72 after that. Me: 24/226 HP.
Next in line is Simisage, who kills me with Energy Ball. I bring in Top Hat, hoping to survive a hit and use Light Screen, but he kills me in one hit with Energy Ball with a critical hit. So I bring in VampirMoth and use Dragon Claw, which knocks him to half and activates his Petaya Berry, then he only uses Payback. Him: 48% or so HP, Me: 103/214 HP. I then use Fly, avoid another Energy Ball and kill him. VampirMoth grows to Level 72 after that.
Lastly is his Swoobat. He uses Psychic, and I miss with Rock Slide, then he kills me with Psyshock. I bring in Siberia, and he uses Psychic, but I live with just over half and kill him in one hit with Ice Fang, ending the battle. Siberia grows to Level 72 after that.

Platinum Ground Monotype, Update #7

Spoiler:
-Checked out the Canalave Library, then witnessed a big explosion at Lake Valor.
-Confronted Team Galactic at Lake Valor.
-Went to Lake Verity and defeated Mars there.
-Used Strength to get to Mt. Coronet and into the snow.
-Beat the trainers on Route 216.
-Got HM08 for Rock Climb on Route 217.
-Went through the hail and found Barry at Acuity Lakefront.
-Arrived at Snowpoint City.
-Caught a Swinub at Acuity Lakefront named Tunguska.
-Trained Tunguska to get it to evolve into Piloswine.
-Did some digging in the underground to get Heart Scales.
-Got Tunguska to evolve into Mamoswine.
-Trained everyone to Level 41/42.
-Took on the trainers in the Gym.
-Challenged the Gym Leader, Candice!

Snowpoint Gym overview:
Team entering the fight: Uranium LV42 / Zoom Lens - Iron Tail, Screech, Rock Tomb, Rock Smash
Jade LV42 - Aerial Ace, Earthquake, Swords Dance, Thunder Fang
Pygmy LV41 / Amulet Coin - Earthquake, Yawn, Sand-Attack, Crunch
Forester LV42 / Miracle Seed - Wood Hammer, Razor Leaf, Leech Seed, Earthquake
Tunguska LV42 / Earth Plate - Earthquake, AncientPower, Ice Shard, Ice Fang
Flipside LV42 / Quick Claw - Earthquake, Surf, Yawn, Mud Shot

She starts off with Sneasel while I open with Uranium. She uses Ice Shard, but it does absolutely pathetic damage and I kill her in one hit with Iron Tail. Me: 120/130 HP.
Next up is Piloswine. Fair enough, since Steelix is weak to Ground. Anyway, I switch in Forester, but she only uses Hail (was expecting Earthquake). Me: 130/138 HP. I use Wood Hammer, which kills her in one hit. I knew it would, since a higher leveled one I killed in one hit without the Miracle Seed. Me: 75/138 HP.
After that is Abomasnow, who replaces the current hail with an infinite hailstorm with Snow Warning. I stay in and let Forester be death fodder, but first I hit her with Wood Hammer for not bad damage before she kills me with Avalanche. Her: 64% or so HP. After thinking about my options for a bit, I decide not to use Uranium first, because i'm pretty sure she has Focus Blast. So I bring in Jade, as dangerous as it seems. I use Aerial Ace, and she…is not knocked out! And she uses Wood Hammer? Really? She could have easily killed me with Avalanche. Anyway, she barely lives, even after recoil damage. Me: 75/129 HP. She uses her Full Restore, and I use Aerial Ace, which does more than half, so I kill her on the second turn with another one. Jade grows to Level 43 after that. Me: 62/132 HP.
Finally is her ace, Froslass. She hits with Blizzard and kills me. Now I have to do more thinking - I can either bring in Flipside and try to use Yawn, or I can send in Pygmy and get rid of the hail with Sand Stream first. I settle on the latter, and the hail is replaced with a sandstorm. She uses Blizzard and misses, while I use Crunch, which does over half, but the Sitrus Berry brings her up before the sandstorm knocks her right near half again. Her: 52% or so HP. She hits with Blizzard next turn and kills me. Her: 45% or so HP. So now there are a couple things I could do, but I decide to send in Tunguska since STAB 120 power Earthquake should definitely finish her from less than half. She uses Double Team, unfortunately, and I miss. Her: 39% or so HP. She then hits with Blizzard again and does more than half, but I hit with Earthquake and finish her off, ending the battle.
That turned out pretty well. Not sure if i'd say it was as hard as Crasher Wake, but definitely easier than Fantina was.

So here's my team:
Spoiler:
Torterra (M) "Forester", Level 42
Nature: Brave
Moves: Earthquake, Leech Seed, Razor Leaf, Wood Hammer

Steelix (M) "Uranium", Level 42
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Rock Head
Moves: Iron Tail, Rock Smash, Rock Tomb, Screech

Gliscor (F) "Jade", Level 43
Nature: Careful
Ability: Sand Veil
Moves: Aerial Ace, Earthquake, Night Slash, Swords Dance

Hippowdon (F) "Pygmy", Level 41
Nature: Naive
Moves: Crunch, Sand-Attack, Sand Tomb, Yawn

Quagsire (F) "Flipside", Level 42
Nature: Hardy
Ability: Water Absorb
Moves: Mud Bomb, Mud Shot, Slam, Yawn

Mamoswine (F) "Tunguska", Level 42
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Oblivious
Moves: AncientPower, Earthquake, Ice Fang, Ice Shard

Sigh...
I'm having more computer problems. So I'm going to have to put my Platinum run on a short hiatus until I can get the part replaced that needs to be replaced. It'll probably take about a week.

The last thing I've done on it is defeat Crasher Wake, which was really challenging for me. I had to do a lot of grinding... Ugh. And then I chased the Galactic grunt back to Lake Valor and talked to Cynthia. Then headed to Celestic Town where I faced Cyrus for the first time (and fangirled way more than I probably should have because he's my favorite villain).

Can't update on my team since I can't access the rom. I did catch a Hippopotas and nicknamed it Hippy.

I'm going to go ahead and get started on my White 2 run since I don't have a save file on my cartridge yet. At least I know that's not going to fry up on me.

It's cool that you can record your challenge, but please include more written info in your posts. I don't always have time to sort through videos to find out how many badges you've earned. It's also a good idea to put videos in spoilers so they don't hamper people with lesser computers and connections.

Ultimate Steel Monotype Challenge: White Version 2
4/8

I seem to be a tad bit underleveled which is weird since I only have 4 team members and one of them is a trade in (Metang was from an event back in February where players were allowed to trade or hack one Pokemon in if they posted a certain phrase, this does not reflect the current rules in any way). A lot of trainers were challenging as a result, but I managed pretty well. Desert Resort was a pain due to all the Ground types. Elesa was somewhat problematic because Electric mons resist Steel for WHATEVER REASON! But I pressed through with my Drilbur, Yoko.

Team:
Spoiler:

Roland
Lvl 25, Serious
76/62/45/67/43/55
-Force Palm
-Quick Attack
-Work Up
-Counter

Steven (Trade in event from February, does not reflect standard rules)
Lvl 26, Careful
76/46/58/34/57/39
-Take Down
-Zen Headbutt
-Iron Head
-Iron Defense

GLaDOS
Lvl 25, Modest
48/26/42/61/39/29
-Thunder Wave
-Supersonic
-ThunderShock
-Mirror Shot

Yoko
Lvl 25, Jolly
67/53/32/18/35/48
-Hone Claws
-Dig
-Fury Swipes
