Quick update - Electric/SS

Defeated the Elite Four for all it's worth. Wasn't too hard, especially with my entire team being bulky or resistant to certain attacks. Defeated Lt. Surge without difficulty thanks to Ampharos with uhhh... that... bug attack that I've forgotten. Tried to fight Sabrina but got pounded to a pulp so skipping her for now. Tried to defeat the guy who gives you the nugget just past Nugget Bridge but paralyzed Lanturn pretty much screwed me over. Went over to Erika's gym to see how that would go but the trainers are too hard for now. What the crud? Power plant is fixed so I'll go and train on Cycling Road and that route south of Lavender Town. The sad thing is... I'm overleveled.

Current team:
Lanturn Lv. 53
Ampharos Lv. 53
Magneton Lv. 53
Jolteon Lv. 43

Edit: Top post again, HAH

Hey all got another update for my Soul Silver Poison run. I succeeded in kicking Team Rocket out of the Radio Tower. Made exceptionally short work of my Rival. Especially my Weezing against his Meganium. Then I made my way back to Mahogany Town. I then defeated all the trainers on my way to the Ice Cavern. Remembering that I'd need Strength to pass I tried to use it on my team and only Gengar could learn it. So instead of wasting it on a pokémon that would not really benefit I decided to catch an HM Slave Lickitung. I then taught it Strength (along with Whirlpool and Rock Smash while I was at it.) I then brought my new HM slave with me through the Ice Cavern. Upon reaching the other side I put my Lickitung back in the PC and defeated the Jr. Trainers in Clair's Gym. This put my team up to lvl 40 and I then realized I'd need some Ice and Electric moves so I went into the Ice Cavern and caught a Delibird to teach Fly to(Hate Fly as an attack so I wasn't going to cripple my Crobat) and had Delibird fly me to Goldenrod. I then bought and taught Thunder to Gengar, Blizzard to Qwilfish, and Fire Blast to Weezing(don't really need it for Clair but figured it would help against Koga's Forretress later). I then flew back and began the battle with Clair. Had Gengar start the battle against Gyarados. Thunder got a crit and Gyarados went down. Then came Dragonair. I sent out Qwilfish and used Blizzard but Thunder Wave hit her first. Didn't KO the Dragonair first shot so I used it again and it went down the second time although Qwilfish was weak from the Dragon Pulse. Knowing Qwilfish couldn't take the second Dragonair I switched to Crobat. Crobat didn't defeat Dragonair but did leave it badly poisoned and weakened so I had Weezing finish it with a Sludge attack. Then against Kingdra I had Gloom use Stun Spore followed by Mega Drains. Didn't defeat it but weakened it enough for Venomoth's Psybeam to beat it. I then took the challenge in the cave passed with flying colors. I am now currently saving up athlete points for a Leaf Stone so I can evolve Gloom into Vileplume once it hits 47th level and learns Giga Drain.
My Current Team is : lvl 40 Crobat, lvl 41 Gengar, lvl 41 Gloom, lvl 40 Venomoth, lvl 40 Weezing, and lvl 40 Qwilfish

Platinum Ground Monotype, Update #8

Spoiler:
-Found Barry at Lake Acuity being defeated by Team Galactic.
-Went back to Veilstone City and entered the Galactic Warehouse.
-Got the Galactic Key needed to enter the HQ.
-Went through the HQ and beat the grunts.
-Beat Cyrus in his office and was given the Master Ball.
-Beat Saturn and freed the lake trio from their cages.
-Went through Eterna City back to Mt. Coronet.
-Scaled Mt. Coronet to reach the Spear Pillar.
-Beat Mars and Jupiter in a rather annoying double battle with Barry.
-Cyrus was sucked into the Distortion World.
-Entered the Distortion World with Cynthia.
-Went through the maze and challenged Cyrus!

Galactic Boss Cyrus overview:
Team entering the fight: Flipside LV43 / Quick Claw - Surf, Earthquake, Mud Shot, Yawn
Pygmy LV43 / Amulet Coin - Sand-Attack, Crunch, Yawn, Earthquake
Jade LV43 / Earth Plate - Earthquake, Thunder Fang, Swords Dance, Aerial Ace
Tunguska LV44 / Icicle Plate - Ice Fang, Ice Shard, Earthquake, AncientPower
Uranium LV43 / Zoom Lens - Iron Tail, Rock Tomb, Rock Smash, Screech
Magnum LV44 / Rock Incense - Rock Blast, Hammer Arm, Strength, Rock Climb

He starts off with Houndoom while I open with Flipside. He opens with Will-o-Wisp, and hits, but that's just fine because I use Surf. Him: 1/3 or so HP, Me: 126/144 HP and burned. He uses Dark Pulse, which does enough to kill me with another hit, but no flinch, allowing me to finish him with Surf. Me: 38/144 HP and burned.
Next up is, of course, Gyarados, which gets off the Intimidate. He then kills me with Earthquake. I then send in Jade, who is definitely my best bet at killing this thing, and that's only if i'm faster. And I am, and use Thunder Fang, which knocks him well below half, and he uses Ice Fang and hits…! But it doesn't even knock me into the red. Him: 28% or so HP, Me: 28/132 HP. I consider using Aerial Ace since Thunder Fang has a small chance of missing, but looking at the amount of damage it did, I decide I have to take the chance with Thunder Fang. He doesn't heal, and I use Thunder Fang, which hits and finishes him. Jade grows to Level 44 after that.
Following is Weavile. Since Jade's almost dead anyway, I let her be death fodder to an Ice Punch, then send out Uranium. He uses Ice Punch, which barely does anything, while I hit with Iron Tail and knock him low, but then his Sitrus Berry activates. Him: 35% or so HP, Me: 105/135 HP. He then uses Ice Punch again, and gets a critical hit, but no freeze, so I use Rock Smash and finish him off.
After that is Honchkrow. I let Uranium be death fodder to Heat Wave, then after looking at my options as to what I could do, I send out Tunguska. I go for an Ice Fang, which…gets a critical hit and kills him in one hit! Nice! I wasn't sure if it would have killed without it, because in the previous battle it didn't and I had the same level difference, but here I had the Icicle Plate, so maybe it didn't, but either way it happened, so that's good. Tunguska grows to Level 45 after that.
Finally is his Crobat. Since he's probably gonna use Confuse Ray, I go with Ice Shard first, and it does more than half…and he only uses Air Slash, but it hits for a decent amount. Him: 40% or so HP, Me: 108/162 HP. I use Ice Shard again and finish him off, ending the battle.
That wasn't as bad as I was anticipating it to be. If he had flinched me with Dark Pulse at the beginning, then things could have gotten much worse since he was faster than my entire team and all my other attacks are physical.

-Took on Giratina and beat it, even though it got the boost from AncientPower on the first hit.
-Was hailed as a hero by Cynthia, Rowan and Lucas.
-Was told to go to Sunyshore City for my final Gym battle.

Here's my team at the time of that update:

One Massive Marathon Later (i now hate 3rd gen) (BTW sorry for the odd spacing i typed it up on notepad as i played through)
Spoiler:

Beat the Aqua Grunt got the Devon goods back
Went to Dewford town and gym
VS Brawly
Team:
Beautifly LV 16
Dustox LV 16
Nincada LV 17

The machop took a fury swipes or 2 then killed nincaca with seismic toss (no healing items on me cuz i dum)
then dustox came in and confusion'd it to death. Medidite was next and beautifly made short work of it
with gust. finally came makuhita and i swear it was less than lv 19 the last time i played this game :/
anyway beautifly managed to get a nice 3HKO with gust despite sitrus berry + bulk up mainly cuz he had nothing
to hurt her (or dustox for that matter)

Gave Letter to Steven
Went to slateport
did museum stuff
went north to mauville and gym
VS Wattson
TEAM LV 24 Ninjask
LV 20 Shedinja
LV 22 Dustox
LV 23 Beautifly
this was tougher mainly because of dat magneton tanking everything but i beat him eventually.
the voltorb took a couple of confusions then selfdestructed taking dustox with it.
next came elektrike and i was prepared with shedinja who he couldnt do anything to, i set up a double team for the
heck of it and proceeded to fury swipes to death.
next came magneton which scared me with supersonic thankfully it has horrible acc and i had +1 Eva so never hit
after much chipping away it finally bit the dust.
manetric was last and once again it couldnt do anything to shedinja so fury swipes away.

went through fiery path to fallarbor
went through meteor falls
went to top of mount chimney

VS Maxie 1
TEAM: LV 27 Ninjask
LV 29 Shedinja
LV 27 Beautifly
LV 28 Dustox
Mightyena was fairly easy for beautifly zubat was just Weak. now camerupt was a bit stronger but since he dosent
use healing items he was down after enough chipping away with gust/confusion/fury swipes

After that went down to Lavaridge gym and beat flannery
VS Flannery
Team: LV 29 Ninjask
LV 30 shedinja
LV 28 Beautifly
LV 29 Dustox

Roxanne was tougher. mainly because back then i didnt have ninjask
emphasis on NINJA. so after setting up Double Teams and Swords Dances it was gg. she was still hell tough.
numel was the set up bait it couldnt do much of anything since it kept missing :3 so i got +6 ATK and EVA
then Fury swipes was an OHKO.
Slugma went the same way
Camerupt took a fury swipes well but i ninjadodged an overheat and a second one killed it.
Torkoal has really high DEF since it was tanking my +6 fury swipes easily thankfully it kept missing and
after TWO HYPER POTIONS it finally went down for the count. if i hadnt had ninjask she couldve and wouldve easily stomped me

went into desert for training
got claw fossil revived at rustboro and grinded new anorith
went back to petalburg to face my old man
VS Norman
TEAM: Same as above with LV 30 anorith
This was a bit tougher. so he leads with spinda which i manage to take a chunk out of with anorith before dieing to bs confusehax
then ninjask comes in sets up a swords dance and finishes with fury swipes. vigoroth is next and Fury swipes 2HKOs as he took
a chunk off ninjask. linoone came in and took a fury swipes then killed ninjask so i sent in shedinja.
now this is an AI with some brains since he immediately switched to slaking (faint attack) which i hit with screech
i went into beautifly and paralysed it before sacrificing it. then brought in shed again who got 2 more screeches on it
then died. dustox the man of the hour came in and started gusting to death eventually after a hyper potion
slaking was dead(Moonlight + Protect = GG Slaking) the linoone came in and it only had a sliver of health left
so after taking a facade one more gust finished the job.

went on east of mauville and did the weather institute shenanigans beating aqua easily.
got to fortree city and went east to meet steven then get rid of the kecleon guarding the gym
VS Winona
TEAM: Anorith LV 33
Ninjask LV 33
Beautifly LV 32
Dustox LV 32
Shedinja LV 32
Why do all the hoenn gym leaders have an advantage over bugs? *sigh* well anyway this was tough as excpected.
swablu died after a couple of metal claws from anorith but then pelliper ruined his fun. Ninjask set up +6 swords dance
and proceeded to finish pelliper then 2HKO altaria and tropius (who stupidly used sunny day and dragon dance instead of i dont know AERIAL ACE!?)
finally he took a chunk of skarmory before biting the dust. beautifly sacrificed herself to paralyse it
then shedinja came in with confuse ray + screech to finish it with some nice parafusion and Fury swipes.

got to lillycove
caught and trained heracross in the safari zone
climbed mt pyre and beat off aqua
got to magma hideout
VS Maxie 2
TEAM: 38 Ninjask
38 Heracross
37 Anorith
38 Dustox
39 Beautifly
37 Shedinja
Mightyena was easy for heracross
crobat was easy enough since anorith had ancientpower
Camerupt was same deal, tough as an old boot but eventually after much chipping away it was down for the count.

went through aqua hideout and beat admin
got to mossdeep and gym
VS Liza and Tate
LV 40 Ninjask
LV 39 Heracross
LV 40 Armaldo
LV 40 Beautifly
LV 40 Dustox
LV 41 Shedinja
Ouch this was hard you would think having an advantage over them would be easier right? well considering this gen
the only good bug move is silver wind (which dustox and beautifly had) it wasnt. beautifly barely lived ancientpower
from claydol and paralysed xatu while armaldo nearly took it down with ancientpower and then got the boost
to all stats so yay. then armaldo finished it after a wasted hyper potion and beautifly went down too.
next came shedinja as bait kind of armaldo took more than half off lunatone with metal claw while it used
calm mind and claydol used ancientpower on shedinja killing it. i threw in dustox and hit claydol with toxic after
killing lunatone with metal claw for some reason claydol used earthquake :/ following this i took just over
half off solrock and it got back enough to survive a second hit with sitrus berry then dustox died. i hit it again with armaldo
and brought in heracross who horn attacked claydol then died to psychic. hyper potion on solrock was obv
so i focused fire on claydol hitting with slash from ninjask and metal claw from armaldo to put it down for good
ninjask was killed by solrock. solrock was at near full health and so was armaldo. FIGHT!
Metal claw missed and it set up sunny day. second one hit and took over half he used solarbeam which barely did a quarter to me.
third and final metal claw won the game thanks to armaldo.

went into the space station and cleared out magma
VS Maxie 3 + Tabitha
heracross took a big bite out of camerupt while metang took a chunk out of mightyena camerupt then killed metang
so he brought in aggron. heracross finished camerupt and aggron took down mightyena
Aggron wrecked crobat with thunder while heracross nearly OHKOd mightyena (stupid -2 ATK) hera finished mightyena
with a third brick break while aggron took a big bite out of camerupt. hera finished camerupt and
aggron took down golbat. nothing too difficult (AI liked to target Steven for some reason)

went on to sootopolis met wallace and went to sky pillar
watched rayquaza say "no son!" to Kyogre and Groudon
beat sootopolis gym
VS Juan
Fairly easy to be honest compared to Liza and Tate anyway.
Luvdisc kinda just died cuz stun spore + mega drain beautifly.
Sealeo was a field day for Heracross and brick break
same with Crawdaunt, brick break for days
whiscash got the Luvdisc treatment of mega drain.
And now for kingdra, oh god this thing brings back painful memories (mostly of DOUBLE TEAM!!! "$*"&$*)
thankfully not so much this time considering winona was kind enough to give ninjask aerial ace combined with swords dance
means pretty much GG.

went on to victory road
VS Wally
Altaria was a bit tricky but armaldo with ancientpower made short work of it. heracross OHKOd delcatty
and magneton, Dustox shredded Roselia and Gardevoir took a few shots of silver wind but died eventually.

got through victory road saved restocked on items and levelled to around low-mid 50s for E4
VS Sidney
Beautifly made short work of Mightyena then the rest was a field day for heracross. Shiftry OHKOd megahorn
Cacturne went the same way. crawdaunt was a brick break and absol took a brick break but a second one put it down

VS Phoebe
her first dusclops was just a stall match between it and dustox which dustox won then the banette died to armaldo
but not before burning it. second banette took a couple of hits then killed armaldo before dustox came in to finish it
her Sableye was next and one megahorn sent it crying to mommy. finally her second dusclops i just used toxic
and proceeded to wait till it slowly died.

VS Glacia
Her first Sealeo was OHKO by heracross, glalie 1 went the same way. Second sealeo, same death.
and finally glalie got broken, like a brick.
i decided to troll walrein since it literally couldnt do a thing to shedinja i just got it to -6 DEF and
destroyed it with shadow ball.

VS Drake
i knew this would be tough and i only had one chance, ninjask. so i set up double teams against shelgon ninjadoding
rock tombs all day erry day then swords dances and slash was a 2HKO.
flygon came next and dodged a flamethrower and 2HKO with slash
Altaria took a slash and a big chunk off me with aerial ace but i lived and a second slash put it down
Salamence took a slash then i ninjadodged flamethrower and finished it off.
the kingdra was lucky enough to hit me with body slam and finish off the valliant ninjask
then it realised it had nothing to hurt shedinja... whoops bad thinking there drake.
-6 DEF and a shadow ball later GG.

VS Champion Wallace
Wailord lived a Giga drain nicely and i ninjadodged a blizzard switching into shedinja afterwards he stupidly didnt
switch so i Destroyed it.
Tentacruel made the mistake of poisoning heracross with Guts. yeah a couple of strengths put it down.
Ludicolo dodged a megahorn and got up a doubleteam i was praying to god it wouldnt get any more and i hit a
second megahorn to kill it.
Milotic was a 2HKO with brick break + Guts
Gyarados took a brick break and finished hera but then ninjask put it down for good with a couple of aerial aces
and giga drain from beautifly finished whiscash once and for all.

Emerald Complete will start platinum maybe tomorrow.

Platinum Ground Monotype, Update #9

Spoiler:
-Went back to Pastoria City and east to Route 222.
-Beat a bunch of boring Fishermen. Geez, these guys can't get enough of their Gyarados.
-Arrived in Sunyshore City, and met with Flint of the Elite Four.
-Found Volkner at the Vista Lighthouse.
-Caught a Barboach in Eterna City named Slumnum, which I only caught to show the old man on Route 221 at a certain level so I could get an Expert Belt.
-Removed Strength from Magnum and used shards to teach her Fire Punch.
-Went through the Sunyshore Gym and beat the trainers.
-Challenged the Gym Leader, Volkner!

Sunyshore Gym overview:
Forester LV45 / Quick Claw - Razor Leaf, Earthquake, Leech Seed, Wood Hammer
Pygmy LV45 - Earthquake, Yawn, Sand-Attack, Crunch
Flipside LV44 / Amulet Coin - Surf, Earthquake, Mud Shot, Yawn
Magnum LV44 / Rock Incense - Rock Blast, Fire Punch, Hammer Arm, Rock Climb
Tunguska LV45 / Icicle Plate - Ice Fang, Ice Shard, Earthquake, AncientPower
Jade LV45 / Earth Plate - Earthquake, Swords Dance, Aerial Ace, Thunder Fang

He starts off with Jolteon while I open with Forester. He uses Iron Tail, which barely does anything, while I kill him in one hit with Earthquake. Me: 121/148 HP.
Next up is his Raichu. Despite knowing he has Signal Beam, I stay in, and he does use it, which does half, but no confusion, so I kill him with Earthquake. Me: 47/148 HP.
After that is Luxray. Since he has Ice Fang and Fire Fang, I opt to switch out for Tunguska expecting an Ice Fang, but he only uses Crunch. Do these trainers not know what super-effective means?! Me: 128/162 HP. Anyway, I use Earthquake, but he lives with 1 HP and uses Fire Fang, but thanks to Rivalry it does less than half my remaining health. Him: 1 HP, Me: 74/162 HP. He uses his Full Restore, but I use Earthquake again and kill him.
Finally is his Electivire. Since he's probably faster and will use Fire Punch, I send in Flipside, and he does just that, BUT gets a critical hit. Me: 102/147 HP. He uses Quick Attack, and that doesn't do much either, and I use Earthquake, which doesn't quite get the job done, and the Sitrus Berry activates. Him: 40% or so HP, Me: 80/147 HP. Since I don't want my stuff to faint in a pathetic battle like this, I switch out for Magnum, and he only uses Quick Attack instead of Giga Impact. Me: 151/160 HP. He uses Fire Punch, which also barely does anything, and I use Rock Blast, which hits three times and kills him, ending the battle. Flipside grows to Level 45 after that.
Well the only thing to be concerned about was his super-effective moves. I knew there was no chance of me losing this battle, but I did have a bit to be mindful of. So yeah, nothing very significant at all.

-Met with Jasmine and Barry on the beach, and got HM07 for Waterfall.

So here's my team:

Platinum Ground Monotype, Update #10 - Final Update

Spoiler:
-Went up Route 223 with Surf.
-Arrived outside of Victory Road.
-Went through Victory Road, the trainers overall weren't really tough for me despite my levels being basically around theirs.
-Arrived at the Pokémon League.
-Beat Barry in a somewhat awkward battle (I thought it was going to be SD and sweep with Jade, but Staraptor came out last and beat me to the punch).
-Did tons of training on my main six guys.
-Used the last of my Rare Candies to get everyone to Level 57.
-Did some last minute moveset adjustments.
-Entered the Elite Four.
-Challenged the first Elite Four member, Aaron.

Elite Four Aaron overview:
Team entering the fight: Jade LV57 / Sky Plate - Aerial Ace, Earthquake, Ice Fang, Swords Dance
Pygmy LV57 / Expert Belt - Earthquake, Fire Fang, Rock Slide, Yawn
Magnum LV57 / Zoom Lens - Earthquake, Fire Punch, Megahorn, Stone Edge
Tunguska LV57 / Light Clay - Earthquake, Ice Fang, Ice Shard, Reflect
Flipside LV57 / Wave Incense - Mud Shot, Surf, Waterfall, Yawn
Forester LV57 / Meadow Plate - Earthquake, Leaf Storm, Leech Seed, Wood Hammer

He starts off with Yanmega while I open the fight with Jade. I use Aerial Ace, which knocks him low, as he uses Double Team. Sure, you keep doing that, that is fine by me. Him: 8% or so HP, +1 Speed and Evasion. He uses his Full Restore, and I take that turn to use Swords Dance. Him: Full health, +2 Speed and +1 Evasion, Me: Full health and +2 Attack. He uses Double Team again, and I kill him in one hit with Aerial Ace. Yeah, evasion noobs aren't welcome here.
After that is his ace, Drapion. I'm faster and use Earthquake, which kills him in one hit.
Next up is Scizor. I switch out for Pygmy, who triggers Sand Stream, and he uses Night Slash, which does pathetic. Me: 166/194 HP. I'm somehow faster and use Fire Fang, which kills him in one hit.
Following is Heracross. He uses Close Combat, which I live pretty easily, and his Defenses drop, while I use Fire Fang which kills him in one hit. Me: 85/194 HP.
Finally is his Vespiquen. I switch out for Magnum as he uses Defend Order. Him: 15/16 HP, +1 Defense and Sp Def. Despite that, I use Stone Edge and kill him in one hit, with a critical hit that I probably didn't even need, even with the +1 Defense. That ends the battle.
Not very complex. I had more than enough coverage to handle it with, though I found it surprising that Pygmy was faster than that Scizor.

-Healed with items, adjusted some held items and challenged the next Elite Four member, Bertha.

Elite Four Bertha overview:
Team entering the fight: Same as before, except Forester is up front, Pygmy and Magnum are both holding Earth Plates instead of the Expert Belt and Zoom Lens respectively, and Jade is holding the Expert Belt instead of the Sky Plate. All others remain unchanged.
She starts off with Whiscash while I open with Forester. She hits with Aqua Tail, which only does 1/5 my health, before I kill her with Leaf Storm. Me: 151/191 HP.
Next up is Gliscor. Here I plan to send in Tunguska, but I misclick and accidentally send in Jade, as she uses Ice Fang, which does just under half. Me: 90/174 HP. But while i'm in here, I may as well use my own Ice Fang, which knocks her pretty low, before she uses Ice Fang also and I barely live as well. Her: 1/5 or so HP, Me: 6/174 HP. Recovering from that accident, I switch in Tunguska as she uses her Full Restore. Since I have plenty of health to spare, I decide now is a good time to use Reflect. I do just that, and she uses Earthquake, but doesn't hit hard at all. Me: 172/206 HP. I then kill her in one hit with Ice Fang.
After that is Golem. I use Earthquake and kill her in one hit.
Following, we have her ace, Rhyperior. I switch out for Forester, as she uses Earthquake, but gets a critical hit. Ouch! Me: 64/192 HP. Hey, not cool! Especially since I have Reflect up. Nevertheless, I use Leaf Storm, which kills her in one hit with ease.
Finally is Hippowdon, who triggers Sand Stream. I use Leech Seed first, and she uses Crunch, which does barely anything because of Reflect, and her health is sapped from Leech Seed. Her: 7/8 HP, Me: 71/191 HP and -2 Sp Atk. I use Wood Hammer because SMASHING HIPPOS WITH BIG HAMMERS IS FUN. It kills her in one hit, and I even live thanks to the draining from Leech Seed. Anyway, that ends the battle.
Another battle that I don't really have too much to say about, although going Ground vs Ground was fun. Forester did most of the work here. There was for the most part no chance I was going to lose this, so yeah.

-Healed with items, adjusted my party and challenged the next Elite Four member, Flint.

Elite Four Flint overview:
Team entering the fight: Same as before, except Flipside is up front and holding the Quick Claw, and Forester is holding the Soft Sand instead of the Meadow Plate. All others remain unchanged.
He starts off with Houndoom while I open with Flipside. The Quick Claw activates, and I kill him in one hit with Waterfall.
Next up is Rapidash. The Quick Claw activates again, and I use Mud Shot, which does half, before he uses Flare Blitz for not much at all. Him: 42% or so HP, Me: 154/190 HP. He then uses Bounce and avoids my Waterfall, then he lands Bounce before I kill him with Waterfall. Me: 118/190 HP.
Following that is his ace, Magmortar. The Quick Claw activates yet again, and I use Waterfall, but he lives, and the Sitrus Berry knocks his health up a bit, and he absorbs light. Him: 44% or so HP. Since I don't really have anyone else to take that hit, I let Flipside be death fodder as he uses SolarBeam. I then bring in Magnum, and he absorbs light, but I kill him with Earthquake, and get the critical hit on the useless hit.
After that is Infernape. He uses Earthquake, but that doesn't do very much and I show him a REAL Earthquake, which kills him. Me: 155/210 HP.
Finally is Flareon. He misses with Will-o-Wisp. Pathetic. Then Stone Edge is an easy OHKO and ends the battle.
There's really not that much I need to say about this battle. Probably could have got a bit more variety in team usage there, though.

So far this Elite Four has been pretty easy... But before challenging Lucian, I decided to replace Tunguska's Reflect with Light Screen, as I said I was going to, because Lucian is mostly special attacking, and 2/3 of Cynthia's team are special attackers also. So yeah, Light Screen it is; I don't need Reflect anymore.

-Challenged the final Elite Four member, Lucian!

Elite Four Lucian overview:
Team entering the fight: Same as before, except Tunguska is up front and has Light Screen instead of Reflect, Forester is holding the Meadow Plate, Pygmy is holding the Expert Belt and Jade is holding the Sky Plate. All others remain unchanged.
He starts off with Mr. Mime while I open with Tunguska. Unfortunately he's faster and uses Reflect, while I hit him with Earthquake, but it still does pretty good. Him: 30% or so HP. Looking at his health, I decide to go for Ice Shard to see if that will finish him off even with Reflect up, and it indeed does.
Next up is Bronzong. No time to waste here! I send in Pygmy, who gets off Sand Stream, and he uses Calm Mind. Him: Full health and +1 Sp Atk and Sp Def. After thinking for a bit as to whether I want to use Fire Fang or Yawn, I decide on Fire Fang since I can definitely take a hit. Here I get ridiculously lucky - it gets a critical hit, which knocks him to like 5% HP, he gets burned AND he flinches. Wow, three hax in one turn! Then he dies from burn damage.
After that is Alakazam, definitely the most terrifying of his team for mine. I decide to stay in, and he uses Energy Ball, which hits hard, and even lowers my Special Defense. I use Earthquake, but since Reflect is still up it does just under half, then Reflect wears off and the sandstorm hits him. Him: 47% or so HP, Me: 58/194 HP and -1 Sp Def. He uses Energy Ball again and kills me. Him: 40% or so HP. I bring in Forester, and he uses Psychic which does just over half before I kill him with Earthquake. Me: 94/191 HP.
Following that is Espeon. Unfortunately, he uses Signal Beam, which kills me. Him: 15/16 HP. I bring in Magnum, and he uses Psychic which does much less than half, while I hit with Megahorn and kill him in one hit. (Well, not exactly one hit, but close enough and i'm sure Megahorn would have killed him from full anyway.) Me: 141/210 HP.
Finally is his Gallade. He uses Leaf Blade, and thanks to Solid Rock I somehow live that, while I hit with Earthquake, and nearly kill him, but he gets the Sitrus Berry before the sandstorm can kill him. Him: 1/4 or so HP, Me: 3/210 HP. He then uses his Full Restore, and I use Fire Punch for some stupid reason. Him: 58% or so HP. He then kills me with another Leaf Blade. Him: 51% or so HP. I bring in Tunguska and use Earthquake, which finishes him, ending the battle.
Although I didn't need Jade for Gallade after all, this was still a bit sketchy. Getting the critical hit, burn AND flinch against Bronzong was extremely lucky, because otherwise I wouldn't have done much at all while Reflect was up, then he could have used Psychic and I wouldn't have survived Energy Ball from Alakazam. Even then, I guess Magnum could have used Fire Punch against Bronzong if Pygmy had fainted (though Alakazam would have still been problematic). That Special Defense boost from the Sandstorm helped Magnum beat Espeon, so all things considered it worked out.

-Healed with items and entered the final room to take on the Champion, Cynthia!

Champion Cynthia overview:
Team entering the fight: Magnum LV57 / Earth Plate - Earthquake, Fire Punch, Megahorn, Stone Edge
Tunguska LV57 / Icicle Plate - Earthquake, Ice Fang, Ice Shard, Light Screen
Pygmy LV57 / Earth Plate - Earthquake, Fire Fang, Rock Slide, Yawn
Flipside LV57 / Quick Claw - Mud Shot, Surf, Waterfall, Yawn
Jade LV57 / Expert Belt - Aerial Ace, Earthquake, Ice Fang, Swords Dance
Forester LV57 / Meadow Plate - Earthquake, Leaf Storm, Leech Seed, Wood Hammer

She starts off with Spiritomb while I open with Magnum. I use Earthquake, which does more than half, while she hits with Dark Pulse for just under 1/3 my health. Her: 37% or so HP, Me: 143/210 HP. Thinking she might get crafty and switch to Togekiss, I use Stone Edge…and of course I miss. And she uses Dark Pulse again. Me: 79/210 HP. I use Earthquake and kill her. Magnum grows to Level 58 after that.
Next up is Roserade. Yikes! Since I don't really need Magnum for anything else of hers and I want Jade at full health, I decide to let her be death fodder to an Energy Ball. Then I bring in Jade. After a bit of thinking as to whether to use Swords Dance first or go straight for the Aerial Ace, I decide to use Aerial Ace, which does indeed kill her in one hit.
After that is Milotic, definitely the thing here i'm most afraid of. I send in Flipside…and she uses Surf, but Water Absorb makes that useless. Thank you! I use Yawn, and I go first because she tries to use Mirror Coat, which fails. I then go for Mud Shot, which barely does anything but lowers her Speed, and she uses Mirror Coat which works this time, but doesn't do that much, then she falls asleep. Her: 90% or so HP, -1 Speed and asleep, Me: 146/190 HP. Since she's asleep, I send in Forester as she snoozes. After some thinking as to whether to use Leaf Storm or Wood Hammer, I decide to go for Leaf Storm, but unfortunately she barely lives. And she wakes up on the first turn and uses Ice Beam, which kills me in one hit. Her: 5% or so HP and -1 Speed. Alright, this really isn't good. I'm seriously backed up, and she's gonna heal. After a bit of thinking, I send in Tunguska. She uses her Full Restore, and I use Earthquake, which looks to do over half but it's hard to tell. Her: 48% or so HP and -1 Speed. Thanks to that Mud Shot, i'm faster, and use Earthquake…but will that finish off Milotic? The answer is yes, that thing is down. Whew!
Following in is Lucario. Since she's most likely gonna use Aura Sphere, I send in Jade…and sure enough she uses Aura Sphere, but it doesn't do much at all. Me: 128/174 HP. I go straight for Earthquake, which easily kills her in one hit. Jade grows to Level 58 after that.
Next up is Togekiss. I settle for Ice Fang, but it does less than half, and she uses Water Pulse for a big hit. Her: 60% or so HP, Me: 41/177 HP. Thankfully no confusion. Since I don't want her to heal, I go for Aerial Ace…and get a critical hit, which kills her. Nice!
Finally is of course, Garchomp. I let Jade die to Flamethrower. So instead of going straight for Tunguska, I send in Flipside, because I have an idea. She uses Earthquake, but I live with around 1/5 my HP and manage to get in a Mud Shot. Her: 90% or so HP and -1 Speed, Me: 43/190 HP. She uses Earthquake again and kills me, and even gets a critical hit, that's so sad. I bring in Tunguska, and since her Speed was lowered, I use Ice Fang…which does indeed finish her off, ending the battle. Tunguska grows to Level 58 after that.
That sure was a great final battle. Although that Milotic was extremely scary to get around, it's a good thing I had Flipside to sidetrack her (no pun intended), though I was a little bummed that Forester didn't get to kill her because she woke up on the first turn. Good thing Tunguska was able to 2HKO her! That actually made me feel pretty cool. And as for Jade getting the critical hit on Togekiss, that wasn't absolutely critical to winning, because even if she had killed me with it, I could have just brought in Tunguska and easily killed her with two hits or something, and unless Garchomp had gotten a critical hit, that would have succumbed also. And that's part of why I let Flipside in against Garchomp at first, in the hopes of lowering her Speed so I could possibly finish her off with Ice Fang, instead of using Ice Shard and risking her getting a critical hit. Additionally, I could have used Yawn instead of Mud Shot, but then I still would have used Ice Shard and easily 2HKOed her while she was asleep, so the outcome would have been the same. It was a bit disappointing that Pygmy was the only one that didn't get any action, but it was worth not giving Garchomp that evasion boost! Everyone else played very well here, so I can say i'm satisfied with how this final battle turned out.

-Was taken up the last elevator and entered the Hall of Fame!

Vocal, as long as all of your teammates, bar your HM slaves, share one common type, it is classified as a monotype challenge. It doesn't matter if the type is primary or secondary. For example, if you were doing a Poison challenge, you could have a Beedrill, which is Bug/Poison, and a Nidoking, which is Poison/Ground, and it would work. You could also have a pure Poison type, like Muk, as well as the other two.

Speaking of Poison, my challenge has been slow lately. Here is a list of reasons why I've been paused lately.
Spoiler:

1. My band activities have been proving to be tedious.
2. I have had A LOT of homework lately.
3. I have been increasingly addicted to World of Warcraft.
4. I AM LAZY!!!

Anyways, I'll try to work on it in the near future. If not, I'll have to get back to it over a vacation or something. See you guys later.

FAIR WARNING! THERE MAY BE SPOILERS IN THIS POST!

Alright, firstly I want to address something that I'm sure a lot of you are worried about. With the release of the 6th generation, the requirements of an Ultimate Challenge will obviously change. Anyone who has completed an Ultimate Challenge before X and Y are released, will still be credited as completing the challenge. Current Champions will be moved to a separate section which I will probably call "Gen 5 Ultimate Champions." You will be allowed to change any of these to a 6th gen Ultimate at any time. However, I will not cut off Gen 5 right away. I will give everyone til the end of 2013 to complete Gen 5 Ultimates if they desire. As of January 1st, 2014, any Ultimate Challenges will have to include X or Y to qualify.

Next, Fairy Type. As there will only be one set of games with Fairy Type in the beginning, it will not be allowed for Ultimate Challenges, only Singles. If we get Hoenn remakes this gen, like most people are hoping, then obviously we will have something to work with. But for now it's Single only.

This is gonna be an interesting experience, I'm not gonna lie. There is so much new territory to cover with these new games, so I am expecting there to be a lot of questions during the process of transition. No one should be afraid to ask questions, as it will help me build up the challenge for the new games. I also don't know where the games will end, if there will be weird E4 stuff like in B/W, or what post game will look like yet, so until I finish the games myself it will pretty much just be completing the E4 for the first time. Once I have a better grasp of the whole game I can make a better call on where X and Y will end for this challenge.

I wish you all the best of luck with your challenges, and can't wait to see what all of you do in Pokemon X & Pokemon Y! I myself am considering either a Fire mono for the cool Fire Types announced so far, including an awesome starter, or a Fairy Mono to play with the new type for my first XY Challenge.

UPDATE! With the announcement of Pokemon Bank, I would like to clarify that you may not use it for bringing Pokemon into your game, unless your type is not available before the 3rd gym. I am hoping that this gen will have nothing like that, and will have one of each type early, but that is yet to be seen.

One more thing. I have never felt the need to clarify this before, but will do so now since X and Y's first Event Pokemon is a starter, namely Torchic. You may not use Pokemon obtained from an event, no matter the level or legendary status, even if you obtained it using the game you are doing your challenge on.
Additional info: Regarding those fancy Mega Evolutions you guys have been seeing, Mega Evolution is something that is a big unknown at this point. Obviously I can't say how they should be handled in a challenge until I play them myself and learn. Until I have more info, Mega Evolution will be allowed, as long as it does not eliminate the type you are playing from the Pokemon you are evolving. Also, Pokemon who only become your type by Mega Evolution are not allowed, since the evolution is temporary.

For example, the new Mega Charizard X evolution is Fire/Dragon. This means that if you are playing a Fire Monotype, you can use this evolution. However, if you are playing a Flying Monotype, then this evolution is not valid. Charizard is also not valid for Dragon Monotypes, since he can only become Dragon type by Mega Evolution.

Also, until the game has been thoroughly played through, the challenge will end when the credits roll. I am hoping there will be no reason for this to be otherwise, but it is to be seen.
