Internet Woes!!

Sorry if this is the wrong spot, but I need some internet connection troubles help!!
Ok, here is my set up, I have a franklin air card plug into a cradlepoint router, that way every one in the house can have internet, they all can pick up the connection but me!! I use an external dongle thingy to pick it up from the router, but the problem is that some times it picks it up and some times it doesn't, but if my sons xbox is turned on it will connect and stay connected, but I can't do that any more because I just had to return it for a new one because it stopped working and we figured it being on all the time may have burnt it up!!
Any help on what I need to do will greatly help me out!!

Replace the dongle. If it persists, replace the router.

I would also agree that it usually is the physical connection and replacing the dongle should do the trick.
