The question speaks for itself. What do you guys think? I think CoD should get rid of them they make the game a lot less fun.

I think they are overpowered... in MW1 and WaW they were balanced, but MW2 ruinied it all with the Nuke, AC-130, Pave Low and the EMP

Yes its the only thing that makes people in the game wanna do better.. and it makes the game more fun. imagine the game without killstreaks would u enjoy the camping the quick scoping and the other bs that you have to deal with on a daily basis?

Well, the EMP can cancel Nukes and Pave Lows, so I guess they tried to balance it somewhat. But I agree that the killstreaks in MW2 were complete BS. Pave Lows could chew through most surfaces, and you were basically screwed if you're outside during an enemy Pave Low.

Killstreaks are kind of what makes CoD different from other multiplayer FPS titles. Removing it would just be somewhat similar to "barebones", except there would still be perks, attachments, etc. I think the basic 3, 5 and 7 killstreaks similar to CoD4 and WaW are just fine, but maybe change it up a little. 3 killstreaks can be a UAV/Counter UAV, 5 Killstreaks can be an Airstrike or Supply Drop, and 7 can be a support helicopter or a player controlled attack helicopter. That way you have 3 simple offensive and defensive killstreaks to choose from.
It's just a random thought.

They were alright back in the days of 3-5-7 were you couldn't pick your own killstreaks, but the dogs were massively overpowered in WaW. I think if you reverted to that, people would be happier on average. You could possibly include the Nuke at around 40 or something which is less likely to happen.

CoD needs a lot more fixing than just the killstreaks to lure me back though.

I hated the idea of choosing your own killstreaks. They added so much into the game and overpowered so many that it really wasn't fun for me on multiplayer.

I think they should revert back to the standardized KSs and keep it that way; makes for more balanced gameplay.

Its not easy to get to 25 strait kills without dying if the other team is any good. Unfortunately if a nuke is used its probably cause you or your team really sucks..

But i dont think its over powered and I've never even called in a nuke.. Even so if a nuke is used you were probably gonna lose the match anyways...

"Oh wow, you got 20+ kills without dying. You must be really good. Here, have a nuke."

Because that makes perfect sense. MW2 was when I stopped liking CoD and kill streaks were one of the reasons

I love the ability to use and choose killstreaks. It adds more action and flexibility to the game. I do agree, though, that most of the streaks aren't too balanced, but mehh, it's the catch to a good feature. I especially like the Blacks Ops and Black Ops 2 killstreaks, since they have AWESOME names and there's a wide variety.

I'm not a crazy hardcore player, so killstreaks give me something to aim at when I'm playing (no pun intended ;))... I couldn't imagine getting three kills in a row and not getting a UAV.. that'd be a downer xD

Going back to the set-in-stone killstreaks of Modern Warfare would certainly restore balance, but a lot of players back then were pining for customizable killstreaks, which is what players were given in MW2.

Online, I prefer the balance given by the set-in-stone killstreaks of Modern Warfare (since the best killsreak rewards are more attainable for every player, not just the best of them), but I do enjoy the customizable killstreaks of the later games in LAN matches, since you generally are playing against people of your skill level.

I think that the killstreaks are a nice concept, though. They reward playing smartly. They definitely should not be completely removed.

It's a good thing that CoD has killstreaks but I honestly think they need to make them harder to get. They should remove the point streak system that is in MW3 and go back to getting killstreaks from kills. They should make it so that they don't stack just like Black Ops did. If they bring back specialist it should only let you get 4 perks maximum. In MW3 it was incredibly easy to get a MOAB because of the specialist bonus giving all perks. MW3's idea for killstreaks was good, but they shouldn't have made you able to get killstreaks by doing objective play and having stealth bomber in support.

I want COD to go back to the 3, 5, 7 streaks. No Nukes, MOABs, RC Cars, or Douchebag Predator Missiles that always target me instead of my 5 other teammates on A Flag. Just UAV, Airstrike, and Helicopter.

I'm gonna return too add something seems how im the creator of this thread... How do you guy's feel about Black Ops and Modern Warfare 3's Lag Compensation? Let me enlighten you on what it means. Lag Compensation was introduced in the Black Ops game and handicapped players with high internet connections or good connections. Have you ever shot someone with 9 bullets and you heard the shots and the hitmarkers were on and the other person kills you with just 4 shots? Then you look at the killcam cuz you know it was a bs death and it showed that you only shot 2 bullets? Well that is lag compensation. Players with a higher internet get punished for having high internet and are at a huge disadvantage. If you are the host your screwed then. But back to the shots I was talking about. The connection bars vary from 1 meaning terrible connection and 5 meaning surperior connection and 3 being I guess average. Well if you have 5 and shot at someone with 3 and popped 9 bullets in them most of the time you got a 1 to 2 second delay so only 1 or 2 shots register meaning as a result you die. How is that fair? The people who pay extra for surperior internet service and go play MW3 or Black Ops and get punished is stupid. It should be the other way around. Actually lag compensation shouldn't even exist in the game it should be whatever you bring to the table. If you wanna use crappy Wal Mart internet then I recommend it for anyone playing these games or you will get a lot of bs deaths. So since I went over lag compensation I want to get your thoughts on this. Please do not say, "Oh, its an exuse to why you lose gunfights and suck." Cuz you are wrong my friend, google it, youtube it, or whatever you want cuz its proof right there. Now I'm gonna tell you guys how this works toward getting killstreaks; you'll notice how it all goes together when I'm done. You very rarely see someone with 5 bars say in Black Ops get a Huey, Dogs, Rolling Thunder, Blackbird, or Gunship etc. Instead your dying over and over everytime you spawn by the same person. Have you ever got killed by someone when you had very high connection and they had say mid connection and keep dying from them in another area? Well that is lag compensation as well and again as a result you get punished for having a good connection and they get their beloved Chopper Gunner. Thats one of the reason why I hate CoD killstreaks now also people spam the shiz out of them. They need to just go back to the basics instead of making people seem surperior to the other cuz you had good connection and they didn't. So next time your in the pre game lobby after gettin raped by the other team and they trash talk. Look at their connection bars. If its 3 and yours is 5 simply say this, "Dude stfu the only reason why you guys raped us is cuz of lag compensation so you had an advantage at the get go." Then leave the lobby cuz knowing CoD fanboys it's gonna be a long night.

I had a post mostly typed up and I guess I got sidetracked by Guild Wars 2 again and forgot to finish it up...

They shouldn't get rid of them all together, but I think they should go back to 3/5/7. It was simple, no switching killstreaks or anything like that. Go back to them, bring back Stopping Power, take away anti-air support, and make it where Ghost/Assassin (or whatever perk they'll call it) not stop an attack helicopter. The reason why I want anti-air support gone is because if I earn a killstreak such as a Chopper Gunner on Black Ops... I don't want it to be shot down as soon as the door opens. The players are dumb/bad enough to give me 9 kills (8 with Hardline) so they should suffer for it. Why should I waste my time getting that only to have it shot down by someone going 2 and 18? In CoD4 you know what you did if a helicopter was called in? You pulled out an LMG/RPG and hoped others on your team did the same. You didn't switch to a UAV Jammer (Ghost/Assassin) class and run around the map. The only way to not be killed by the chopper was to run inside or shoot it down. And that thing was like the Pave Low in MW2 it ripped people apart, you were good enough to get 7 kills so you got something for it.

But they'll never go back to them days, days where the game wasn't flooded with kids and cry babies. Where if you were good people noticed and wanted to be on your team. These days if you're good you HAVE to be a hacker, cheater, or you have no life. Skill and outplayed never crossed their mind.
Hell, I think if they made a CoD4 remake most people would go back to MW3/BO2 (whatever came out before the remake) because these days people couldn't live without their cheap weapons (not to say CoD4 didn't have some OP weapons. M16 anyone? The original G3 before they killed the fire rate. And others), perks, or classes. They know nothing about map control and holding the best areas so the other team doesn't get them, and so on.

You never see anyone with 5 bars, it's so rare that it's not in the game. It only goes to 4.
I will agree that connection is one of the biggest (if not the biggest) probs with CoD. If they had servers then a lot of probs would be fixed. I used to play some BF3 (both on the 360 and PC) and I never saw bullets go through people like I do on CoD. I never shot someone not moving 3 times in the head only to have them turn around and one shot me... due to connection. And so on.
I do agree that a host gets gimped somewhat (I get host sometimes and it's not the best host connection and so my shots won't kill), and it is sort of stupid.
But if you think you lose everytime due to you having 4 and them having 3 then it might be you being outplayed (you can blame lag compensation all day long doesn't mean it's the reason). As someone who plays on both a 3 bar and a 4 bar (depending on the group I'm playing with) I know for a fact that I'd take a 4 bar over a 3, and I know for a fact I do a lot better on a 4 bar. I know for a fact on the great 3 bar you talk about I see bullets not register, I see the killcam I fire 2 bullets when on my screen it was half a clip. I see my sniper shots go right through someone. Not saying it doesn't happen on a 4, but it doesn't happen as often. On a 4 I get less unregistered shots, I get less hit markers with a sniper and shotgun and more 1 hit kills with them, and over all more kills. I wouldn't have a prob if everyone had a 4 bar. That way it didn't come down to me getting ripped off due to me having a 3 bar and them having 4.
And just because someone kills you when you have a 4 and them have a 3 doesn't mean it's always connection based. Yes connection is a factor, a big factor. But like I said, I get 3 bar (again... when I wished I had a 4) and I can still go 20 and 5 in a TDM with no prob at all. And that's in a full party of good players, so I'm fighting against them for kills. The score would have likely been better had I gotten a 4 bar but that's beside the point. My point is, you're complaining about the wrong thing... complaining about having 4 bar... wow that's a new one.

Actually you are wrong. Idk if its because you have a 360 and I have a PS3 and the highest you see is 4. On the PS3 version of Black Ops I have 5 connection bars 90% of the time. I don't lose all my gunfights due to lag compensation but I lose a majority of them due to it. When I had my 360 I had Black Ops and with a weaker internet connection than I have now and always got 3 bars. My KD ratio was 1.85 and with me having 5 all the time on PS3 my KD ratio is .86 and slightly goes up and down. On the 360 I could get Hueys and Blackbirds no problem and the game seemed alot different than when I have higher connection where with higher I can barely get an attack chopper.
