I agree so much. I can't stand being in shoes indoors unless I've designated those shoes as "indoor shoes" that are only worn inside.
Exactly! My slippers have soles like shoes so I could wear them outside if I wanted but I won't even go in the garage while wearing them because I don't want to track dust or dirt back inside. :( Unless I forgot something and have to run back inside in a hurry without taking my shoes off, I never wear shoes around the house for the same reason.

Must be a non-US thing. That one friend is literally the only person I've seen who's asked people to take their shoes off. It's always been taught to me as polite to leave them on and when not given any direction most people I've been with that go into a stranger's house leave them on, lol.

:/ In the northern states when I visit family friends, they always have their shoes off and it's expected of us too. Maybe it varies by state as well?

I don't like people wearing their shoes in my house, especially when their shoes are muddy. It may be tradition for Asian families (such as mine) to remove our shoes, but I think Caucasian families seem to have different ways of life. Well, I think one way to solve this problem is to stick up a huge as sign asking them to remove their shoes before entering the house.

I actually forgot it was bonfire night. XD

I got back and there were loads of fireworks going off; took me a couple of minutes to realise that it was bonfire night.

Taxi for Fabio!

@_@ I don't get the shoes thing either. Why would you want to wear shoes all over someone's house? Even if you don't have muddy shoes, you step on so many gross things over the course of one day. I wouldn't want that tracked all over my carpets or floor! I'd much rather have bare feet! At least I know they've just been in a shoe all day.

Though socks are the way to go regardless.
I know, but various media seems to make it seem like it's abnormal NOT too. Just one example is Family Guy. Do they EVER take off their shoes when they go into houses? Nope. Maybe I'm just not paying attention to people's feet of all things in shows but I don't see people doing it that often in shows either.

To be fair, we did talk about it yesterday and it got dragged on to talk about shoes after that XD;

Well, I'm pretty sure they don't splurge on animation for Family Guy so minor actions like that just wouldn't even be on their radar. :P I'd say sitcoms and the like would be a better marker of it but they'd probably cut those scenes anyway even if they did make it in since putting shoes on and taking them off is really boring to watch.

It's not really celebrated outside of GB anyway, right? :P The only reason I know it's even vaguely a thing is because of that movie that came out. Not that I've even seen that, haha.

Yeah in the US the extent of it is making a Facebook status usually, and maybe a group viewing of the movie. No one cares much beyond that.

Shoes are the best thing in the world.

I like going barefoot wherever I go. I avoid walking in mud and stuff but at least I don't have to take them on and off.
But I suppose I do like shoes when I'm going out somewhere fancy.

I will admit that in animations when characters are putting on their shoes, I find it fascinating to see the movement captured in different styles.

But when I wrote that, I was thinking of the glacial pace my roommate ties his shoes at and I absolutely hate waiting for him when it takes so long. :P

I only wear shoes when I go outside... most of my inside time is spent barefoot.

And I hate it when mud spoils my shoes, ruins their "new shoes" factor.

Once when I was a kid I tried to run away for fun (have you ever read The Boxcar Children? They have loads of fun), and I realized halfway down the street that I had forgotten shoes and probably needed them so I stopped and played instead.

:( The first scuff or stain on a new pair of shoes is always a bit sad. After I pass that threshold though, I tend to not care at all. I really only wear running shoes so if they get dirty, I just let them stay dirty.

I also ran away once. Or started to, at any rate. Packed a suitcase with all my clothes and things I needed and dragged it out of my room... only to realize I needed to get it down the stairs and I gave up and went to play on the computer instead. I forget why I was running away.

Go and vote you Americans! People from other countries don't even have a chance to vote, so vote wisely and be contented that you got the chance to vote.

Australians are required by law to vote. I really couldn't care less about voting, I think the politicians should sort it out themselves and let the public decide on their salary.

I'm mainly voting today just to get it over with. Not saying I'm misinformed or undecided, I basically know who or what I'm voting for, I just want the election to be done with no matter who wins. This honestly has been the most tiring one yet. I'm tired of all of it and want today to end quickly.

I know I probably should be but for various reasons I'm fairly confident in my prediction of who's going to win so I'm not worried about it at all, lmao.

According to the guys from the University of Princeton, Obama has a 99.2/100% chance of getting reelected so well XD You can be confident I guess.
