The Plot

Welcome to Rocket Rising: A game where you get to play as a member of Team Rocket.

But first... You are in the beginning of your Pokemon Journey, and admittedly, having some trouble. You barely won 2 badges, and just won the Nugget Bridge challenge, when everything you've worked so hard for is stripped from you.
You are left with only one, single Pokemon.
Team Rocket provides Pokemon, and you need Pokemon so... you join up, just for a little while, to get back on your feet.
But all this stealing and cheating gives you an edge. You start winning more often, and against stronger opponents.
You start to think... maybe there's a different path to becoming a Master of Pokemon.

Current Features

~Active Time Battle: The number of attacks you get are based on speed. This gives faster, but weaker, pokemon a fighting chance against the slower, heavy hitters.
~3 Pokemon per Battle: You can have many Pokemon with you, but only 3 in a battle.
~Skill Usage System: Pokemon can have as many abilities as they can learn, they aren't limited to 4, and they can learn moves either by leveling up or by using their old ones. Thundershock will turn into Thunderbolt when used enough times.
~Recruitment: In certain situations you can recruit people to join Team Rocket. This might involve beating them in a battle, helping them out, or simply talking to them.
~Cheat Items: Throughout the game you can get items that have strong effects on enemies, like instantly poisoning them, draining all their energy, or making your own Pokemon almost invulnerable to damage. These are meant to give you an unfair advantage during tough battles.
~Mutagen: You can get rare items called 'Mutagens'. These mutate your Pokemon and give them a partial secondary type, giving them new moves, new strengths, and a new, sometimes frightening, appearance.
~Things Change: The more dangerous and successful you become, the more the world around you will notice and adjust accordingly.
People will talk to you differently, different areas will become open or closed to you, and you can see areas change over time because of your actions.

Why?

So a long, long time ago, when I was playing Pokemon Red for the first time, I beat Nugget Bridge. And I got offered a job at Team Rocket! And I was stoked.

And then became very disappointed when you could not actually give up your 'Pokemon Master' dream to go join a criminal organization.
Eventually, since the desire to play a game like that never went away, I decided to make one of my own. A game where you can break the rules a little. Something that felt a little different from other Pokemon games.

I'm using parts of Crystal Noel's "Pokemon For Ace" for the program RPGMaker Vx Ace.
And currently, there is about 3 - 4 hours of gameplay!

I've made it so that if you go Right out of Celadon, there'll be a lockpick hidden in the furthest right flower.
Hopefully that should fix your lockpick troubles.

Future Features?
Spoiler:

~Items that will replace the HM's, along with some additions. The axe will let you get through trees,
there is a teleporter intead of Fly, a Lockpick to get you through some locked doors, Flashlights to shine through dark caves.
~The option to create new bases for Rocket across the Kanto region, and take over cities so that they are entirely ruled by Rockets.
~ Maybe a Room in the base that you can decorate? Like the secret bases in Ruby/Sapphire. Is there even interest in this?

So you want to help with Rocket Rising?

Here are some things I need help with!

-Recruits: Do you have a cool idea for a character to recruit into Team Rocket? A thief on the run from the cops? Someone with a bone to pick with another member of Rocket? You just think a Magneto and Mystique clone would be cool? Tell it to me!

-Balancing: I like things that are a little difficult. Both in puzzles and in battles. But there's a line. Tell me where you first got frustrated, or bored.

-Fun~: Is there a part you really liked? Do you want more parts like that?

- I need a potential use for the Pokemon Daycare.
- I need ideas for Prizes at the Game Corner.
- The Mutagen Class name. Currently, a Pikachu is a Pikachu. And a mutated Pikachu is a... Mu!Pikachu. I need a better name at some point.

Known Problems
Spoiler:
-In the "Change Formation" menu it shows the Trainer icon you started with, not the Pokemon icon. Not sure how to fix this.
- Using the "Bite" ability on a Gastly might glitch out the game. Haven't been able to recreate this yet. (Might be fixed as of .2.5?)
- Maxx, in front of Fuji's House, will glitch the game if you don't talk to him before going in.
- When using Bubble, the affected PKMN will have the antidote icon instead of a 'lowered speed' icon.
- There's no way to track how many times you've used a skill/how close you are to getting a new skill. I would like to fix this at some point.
- There may be some slowdown in the ATB bar in Silph Co. Not sure what's causing it right now.
EDIT: May only be encountered after reaching the 5th floor?? (I've unable to find this. )
- After fighting Gary in Silph Co. the battle music won't switch back to the normal battle bgm. (I forgot this one! Sorry! Still in 2.5!)
- Giving the Rocket guy a drink on the 2nd floor of the base, and then going downstairs, will trap you there.
- The police on the 7, 8, 9th floors of Silph can see through walls, and each other sometimes.
-If you are continuing a save file in ver .2.5, you may encounter a glitch when starting a Pokemon battle. There is a sign on the 1st floor of the Rocket base that will fix this for you.
- Ghost types are resistant to dark type/bite instead of weak to it. Fixed in .3.
- Route 3 (East of Pewter) may slow down your game.
-Any stat based moves (Agility, Defense Curl, etc.) may have mismatching symbols instead of +stat/-stat
-Using any item from the menu will cause the potion sound.
- Leaving through the South Saffron Gate on the way to Vermilion will freeze you. Should be fixed by next patch.
- The Beedrill in the Viridian Forest may 'run' from the battle. The battle will just stop a few turns in, without the Player winning.
(possibly only .2.6, unsure yet) impossible to learn Hyper Fang, Confuse Ray or Psychic. If scripted, Rattata can learn Confuse Ray, so maybe the count is wrong somehow??)
- People may get stuck when needing to deliver the package to Saffron City. This requires a Lockpick that they mysteriously will not have. Please check post 230 http://www.pokecommunity.com/showpost.php?p=8905546&postcount=230.
- Going to Rt. 4 may trigger the Redra conversation (if you didn't already see it) accidentally, and give you more mutagens.
- Funding Guy in Saffron isn't working correctly, making the Cinnabar PokeCenter quest impossible to complete.

Walkthrough

Main
Spoiler:

Nugget Bridge
Fairly straightforward, the Nugget Bridge acts as a small tutorial. You have to fight the five trainers, and each will give you a bit of information about the battle system. The 5th trainer has a Mankey that packs a bit more of a punch, but overall your party shouldn't have any trouble getting through these fights.
When you reach the Rocket Recruiter, he'll offer you a job with Team Rocket and, good guy that you are, your character will refuse. You agree to a battle... and get one-hit KO'ed. Your party of Pokemon gets stolen from you. And this is where you, reluctantly, agree to join Team Rocket.
Your First Mission (checkpoint 1)
Congratulations, you joined Team Rocket! And got a Rattata. Which, admittedly, sucks. But hey, at least it's fast. For every turn the opponent takes, you'll usually get two. After the recruitment, you're told to go steal three Pokemon.
1: Behind the apartment building, to the far, far left.
2: Inside of the apartment building, on the second floor. There's a Nidoran, and if you interact with it you can steal it.
3: Go to the house next to the Diner, in the south part of Celadon. A Grunt will sell you a Stolen Pokemon for 1000. Either get the money by doing the Diner Extortion sidequest, or by selling the Nugget from Nugget Bridge.
Go back to your Supervisor on the 4th floor of the Rocket base, and you'll get yourself a brand new, very important delivery mission.
Deliver the Package (checkpoint 2)
Note: It is highly recommended for you to grab some Burn Heals from the Department Store before continuing.
Head right out of Celadon, and take the Underground Path to Lavender Town. Once you exit the Underground Path onto Route 8, you'll find it covered in trainers, most of which you can't beat. Try to only battle the old men and the little girls.
In Lavender Town a guy in front of Mr. Fuji's house will take the package from you, barge into the old man's house and kidnap him. If you check the bush right above the tree in Mr Fuji's house, you'll find a burn heal. This will be useful, because in a moment you'll have to fight two fairly strong Growlithe.
The Growlithe both have the ability to be healed by potions, they're about as fast as Rattata, and if they inflict Burn then that'll take a lot of your health very quickly. Hit them hard and fast, try to interrupt their attacks with Bite if you've learned it, and use Burn Heals and Super potions if you need to.
If all goes well, congratulations! You just beat your first cop.
The Tower that is not full of Angry Ghosts yet(checkpoint 3 when kidnapping Fuji, 4 on completion of puzzle)
The Pokemon Tower is quiet, nothing bad has happened there yet. Most of the walk up is just you reflecting on the things you've done so far. When you reach the 6th floor you'll find a puzzle. Each of the golden graves has a haiku on it, and a flower, branch, or leaf. You must match the plants to the grave's haiku in order to reach the 7th floor.
Spoiler:
Upper far left - Violet
Upper middle left - Leaf
Upper middle right - Magnolia
Upper far right - Chrysanthemum
Lower far left - Bramble
Lower middle left - Hellebore (winter flower)
Lower middle right - Moon Flower
Lower far right - Iris
Finish the puzzle, get to the 7th floor, and you will get yourself your second Pokemon: Gastly. The trip down the tower will be full of much angrier ghosts now though. Battle through them, and at the 2nd floor you'll meet an old... friend. They will politely inquire as to why you are wearing a Rocket uniform, and you can feel free to lie to them or tell them the truth. Either way, get back to Celadon, and prepare yourself for a trip abroad and some word puzzles.

If you want to take a slight detour, go south to Route 12 and go in the gatehouse there. You might see a small interaction between people you'll meet later...
The Cipher Heaven of Cinnabar (checkpoint 5 when completed mansion cipher)
(I would recommend picking up the Spirit Coin from the Prize Corner in the Casino before going to Cinnabar. You get it by having stolen 5 Pokemon, steal your 5th by going Left out of Celadon and battling the Trainer there.)
After talking with your supervisor you'll be sent to go help with some testing on the 2nd floor of the base. There, the scientist will give you a Cell Phone to help you keep in contact (and get hints) and you'll get to Cinnabar and get a short introduction on how ciphers work.
"The key is key" is solved by inputting
Spoiler:
"key" or "Key".

Inside the mansion, you have to flip the statue switches to get the lab parts and get into the basement. First, head straight up and take note of the bed. You can heal here if your Pokemon get low. There are a few good items here in the Mansion, including the first accessories you can get if you didn't do the Staryu sidequest!
There's the Accessory: Silver Charm on the 2nd floor, as well as an Ether, And in the basement there's the Accessory: Focus Sticker.
How to solve the Statue Switch puzzle
Spoiler:
1: Hit the statue just to the left of the bed, and then climb the stairs to the 2nd floor.
2: On the second floor go north until you see another staircase inside of a room, it goes to the third floor.
3: On the third floor, hit the statue directly in front of you, go through the pathway it opens, and follow the path until you take the stairs down. You'll get the 1st of 4 lab parts here.
4: Go back up to the 3rd floor and into the room that was previously blocked. There are more lab parts there, so grab those, hit the statue right behind them.
5: Now go back down to the 2nd floor where the 1st lab parts were, and hit the statue right there.
6: Go all the way down to the 1st floor, use the bed to heal if you need it, and go far right, and then down, into the now open basement.
7: The basement has no wild encounters, so go left into the room with the book, hit the statue, and then go up and to the final door.

The last of the lab parts is behind a door though, blocked by the phrase "oftees hnntwa soedeh oksfmi oewnet is?". If you paid close attention to the cipher tutorial earlier, and the books around the mansion, you should be able to write it out to unscramble the sentence correctly.
If not, it translates to:
Spoiler:
"One of the two weaknesses of the mind is?"

The answer to this depends on some knowledge of the Pokemon world, or, an internet search.
Spoiler:
Either 'Ghost' or 'Bug' will get you through the door though.

And with that, the 4th, and last lab part is yours. Head outside, interact with the shiny spot on the ground, and head on home.
Detective Redra (checkpoint 6)
While waiting for the teleporter to be finished, you are told to go find clues on where one of the Lieutenants has gone. You also get yourself a Lockpick!! This lets you open doors that are locked. There are 7 clues you can find, but you only need 5 to be done with it.
Clue Locations
Spoiler:
Two are in the locked house towards the South of Celadon
The recruiter on the 4th floor of the base
The grunt on the 1st floor of the base near the boxes
The grunt outside the Pokemon Center
The guy on the date on top of Celadon Department Building
The fisherman to the left of the Casino.

Go back to the scientist, get the finished teleporter, and deliver it to the Gentleman in Saffron City. And prepare for the invasion.
Silph Co. (checkpoint 7: beginning 8: reached 10th floor 9: defeated Secretary 10: defeated Rival)
You will be teleported to the 3rd floor of Silph Co. First, go far right and go to that teleporter. You'll end up in front of kid, battle him, and take his Pokemon. Go down the 2nd floor, and step on the teleporter behind the cop, and you'll get a keycard that will let you go to the 4th floor.
On the 4th floor, there's a door and you need a code to open it. Trainers on the 4th, 5th and 6th floors will give you bits of information to solve the passcode. But if you're too impatient for that...
Spoiler:

The passcode is 4154

You should at least battle the blonde lady on the 6th floor and steal her Pokemon though. Also, on the 5th floor, head left and look behind the painting. You'll find some Lab Parts.
With your new keycard, make your way to the 7th floor! And let's play the minigame of avoiding cops. Mostly just follow closely behind them and take your chance to get out of their sight. There are 3 floors of cops, and they get more difficult as you go.
The 10th floor is quiet, with only a grunt who will let you buy some items off of him, and also help you back and forth from the 10th to the 1st floor if the upcoming boss battle proves too hard.
Hopefully you've been working on Gastly a bit, because you'll want its Psychic attack for this. The president's bodyguard/secretary will have two Machop that will drain all your mp and hp if you let them. The longer the battle goes on, the more likely it is that you'll lose, so try to end it fast.
You caught the President! Giovanni shows up! Everyone is happy!
...And then your Rival starts causing trouble. You may have had the opportunity to fight him before in Lavender Town. This won't be the same type of fight though. The Lieutenant Redra will give you a fantastic Snorlax that will wipe the floor with your Rival's team, just Attack, Double Edge and Rest as needed and you shouldn't have anything to worry about.
Redra's Mission (checkpoint 11)
In the base on the 1st floor you'll find Redra waiting for you. She lets you pick whether you go during the Day or at Night.
Night Mission
Spoiler:

All you have to do first is solve the puzzle of the cases. I mean, you could just smash both of them but... you'll miss out on a nice reward if you do that.
Spoiler:
There are 5 rows, from top to bottom.
For the top case, the one that gives you the Helix Fossil, the way that I solve it is like this.
Row 1, Square 1---> Row 3, Square 2 ---> Row 5, Square 1---> Row 2, Square 4 ---> Row 2, Square 5---> Row 4, Square 4

For the bottom case, the Dome Fossil, I do it like this.
Row 2, Square 4--> Row 4, Square 5---> Row 5, Square 3---> Row 5, Square 1---> Row 3, Square 2---> Row 1, Square 1

You should now have both fossils. You'll get out of the museum, and take the Mt. Moon path back to Cerulean when the ground falls away.
Fight your way out, talk to Redra whenever you need some healing, and rake in that exp. After you beat the 'boss' of the cave, you'll be free and hopefully have earned yourself a Mutagen!

Day Mission
This mission can split into a few directions, but the beginning is the same. Go into the museum, and interact with the pile of books/papers on the counter. Talk to the old man next to the cases. Then mess with the box on the wall near the police officer. This will give you maximum time to get into the cases.
Get the fossils, and then go to the window on the 1st floor to get out of the museum. Here is where it splits.
1. Either spend time walking around Viridian and Pewter until Redra calls, or head immediately back towards the base, and you'll go through Mt Moon with Redra while dodging police. This will also let you meet a character early, if you want.
2. Hide out in the Pewter Gym while things calm down. You get to fight Brock again, and you'll get the Accessory: Bolt Stone for your trouble.
3. Go to Viridian Forest, battle the Beedrill, and save a girl. And then recruit her!
4. Go home to Pallet Town, see your mother, and talk about the things that have changed.
Whichever you choose, you'll eventually get back to the Celadon/Cerulean area, and maybe got a Mutagen if you didn't break both cases.
Maxx's Mission part 1 (checkpoint 12)
Head for the Saffron Pokemon Center, and then go inside and through the white door. You'll be asked to steal some Pokemon in the center. You can steal from 1) The guy in the Cafeteria with the plate of food in front of him 2) the Meowth in the ER room, 3) 4) 5) The Geodude, Pidgey and Nidoran in the exam rooms.
You only need to steal 4 to continue with the mission though. If you need healing, talk to the helpful Chansey near where you came in.
Once you're done with stealing the Pokemon, talk to Maxx by the escalators and head downstairs. And grab a calculator, there's math ahead.
Maxx's Mission part 2
Each of the doors downstairs is locked with 2 digit passcode. Anything from 01 to 99 is possible. And every wrong answer gives an electric shock. Maxx will take the hits for you, but it's still game over if his health gets to zero. If you solve the electrician's problems though, he'll give you the first number for each door.
This still leaves you to guess what the LAST number is of the passcode but... if you pay attention to the problems you're asked to solve, then you might not need to guess. Try writing it all down.

Spoiler:
Either answer 439 or 3319
. Choose the dialogue option of your choice, and if you didn't let Maxx drop too low in health, he'll take care of all the battling for you and you'll soon walk out of there with your third Pokemon!
If you DID let Maxx drop too low in health, you'll have to fight two Growlithe and an Arcanine.

While you're in the Saffron Pokecenter Basement though, try to pick up the Adrenaline behind door 9, and the Lab Parts behind door 10. The Adrenaline will let your Pokemon attack twice in a turn, making it a good Accessory for your heavy hitters.
Gym Trouble (checkpoint 13)
Head back to Casino and one of the other Grunts will interrupt you and drag you along into one of their half-baked plans. They want to attack the Cerulean gym and steal its Pokemon... and you're helping.
Find your way to Cerulean, talk to the Grunt at the side of the gym, and get ready for some fighting. Once inside you'll have to fight two Trainers, steal two Pokemon, and then battle Misty. Her Starmie might give you trouble, but if you keep it out of the fight with Hynosis or Confuse Ray, then all should go well.
Idris (checkpoint 14, 15 upon talking to Idris)
If you went on the Day mission with Redra, you may have already met Idris in the Cerulean Jail. Now, it's time for a rescue mission. Talk to Maxx on the 4th floor of the Rocket Base to get started, and save beforehand. This might take awhile.
You'll attack the jail at night, but once you get there, find that there's no Idris after all. Instead, the police have retreated to the nearby Cerulean Cave, and you have to battle your way down into it. If you have it, equip the Spirit Coin to Chansey, and use her to keep your party at full health. The cave is full of tough monsters and maze-like passages.
If you just want to get Idris and get out, go in the cave, down the stairs, and then work your way to the upper left corner. That path will take you down to where you need to be.
But there are a few nice items down here, like Claws to boost attack, and Black Sludge to give your Gastly some extra health regen.
Once you've spoken to Idris, you can sit back and relax as you get transported in style out of the cave, and feel good about saving a happy and thankful Lieutenant.
Stealin', Stealin' (checkpoint 16 upon getting Pkmn from Game Corner)
Not yet implemented.

Sidequests
Spoiler:

Diner Extortion - The female Rocket on the second floor of the base will helpfully tell you to go shakedown the diner guy. The diner is directly south of the Game Corner. Talk to the Diner Guy, and you'll have three options available to you. You can ask for a meal (which won't work), straight up tell him to give you money, or comment on what a nice place he has.
If you tell him to give you money, he'll ask why, and you have three more options. 1) Because you're a Rocket. 2) Because you need it. 3) Because reasons. If you're playing as a Boy, the first option will net you 200. If you're playing as a Girl, the second option will get you 500. The third option won't get you anything.
If you comment on the nice place he has, he'll ask if you're threatening him. Respond No. You'll then innocently mention how being in Celadon and making the Rockets mad, might not be such a good idea, and maybe he should be a good neighbor. He coughs up 2000 for your trouble.
All of the options that get you money (except the one as a Girl that gets you 500) will prompt Erika to notice and seem bothered by it all. But she doesn't say or do anything, so walk away with your ill gotten goods, and feel good about yourself.
Cinnabar Experiments - If you talk to Nurse Joy on Cinnabar Island, she'll complain about the strange experiments going on in the lab next door. She wants you to put a stop to them.
1: Go to the second room in the lab, and break all of the computers. 2: Find the guy who funds the lab.
Spoiler:
He's in a house in Saffron City.

3: Talk to the scientist in the last room of the lab, and that should put an end to all that strange science.
Jewelry and Staryu - Get the quest from the old man in the southern house of Celadon City. He wants you to steal some Staryu. Go to Lavender Town, then south, to Route 12, where you'll see a man fishing. Talk to him, win the battle, and you'll get his Staryu. Go back to the old man you got the quest from, and he'll tell you to pitch the idea of "Staryu Jewelry" to the Department Store there in Celadon. Talk to each of the shopkeepers in the Department store, and then return to the old man for your reward.

Recruitables
Spoiler:

Griffin - Automatically joins after Lavender Town
Zach - Found in the Celadon Department store, 5th floor, you can recruit him anytime after Lavender Town as long as you have a Trinket.
Bike Kid - In Cerulean, can be recruited any time. Talk to him 3-4 times and let him join Team Rocket. You'll also get a Bike for putting up with him!
Izabel - Found in Viridian Forest, currently can only be reached during Redra's Day mission. Save her from the Beedrill and she'll auto-join.
Markeva - Once you have stolen 10 Pokemon (and ideally gotten the flashlight) talk to the guy near the Rocket Grunt in Cerulean City. He'll tell you about a Pokemon thief in the area. Go to the cave that connects Lavender and Cerulean, and navigate through it. In the lower level you'll find Markeva, and you can choose to recruit her, or give her up to the Investigators chasing her.

Oh man, thanks so much!

It's possible for the player to become a more and more important person in Team Rocket right up until endgame where
Spoiler:
they challenge Giovanni.

But there isn't exactly a concrete power structure yet. Playing as middle management, where you have authority over some people, but still have higher ups to listen to, is something I'm still thinking about on how to pull off.

What do you mean by Tournament of Rockets? Like an annual competition for grand prize, sort of thing?

If you're ever in need of inspiration, you should play Pokemon ToxicPurple. It's quite a famous hack, and for good reason. One thing I never understood however, was why when someone makes a TR game, they have the protagonist always be in uniform. No one would join Team Rocket, if things like Pokemart are forbidden. While preventing attachment is an excuse, it's not really a good one, since it implies what you're doing is wrong.

Ok so id mean like u rise through ranks thts great that u u may be leader but like they have grunt, commander, executive, admin, leader stuff like that and then theres always been an idea floating around that it would be cool if the executives had tournament annually to become a admin thats my say on it its up to u of coarse but it'd be great if we could come up with like 6-7 levels since in the anime and games theres like "sirs" "commanders" and admins and executives all having different power until u have Giovanni who has no one to report to i think this game will have great potential if the story line is great. Now if we do a tournament instead of a pokemon league we could have "admins " be like the elite four and Giovanni of coarse the champion but u would just challenge him later after u showed ur the best " admin". Idk but its sounds cool right?

As to toxic purple its pretty good i rather have it made with essentials cause hacks can only be so good and i think an undercover like a real person like Jesse and James is appropriate also maybe u could go into a Pokemart and steal stuff and maybe "accidently" drop some money or something along the lines of that or even better is a black market where u could trade with them for stuff or pay and bargain with them all these ideas are just going through my head about this great potential

Ah, Toxic Purple was fantastic. I played until the end of the Pokemon Tower in Lavender Town, and that's where it finished, if I remember right.
I wanted so badly for it to be longer.

Hmm. I think if some things aren't forbidden, it doesn't feel like you're playing a criminal.
Also it's simpler to program.

Ooh, a black market would be interesting. I'll have to think about that!

I think either a market at a rocket headquarters or a black market would be great do you think maybe there will be secret routes in your game leading through forests or tunnels to a secret rocket headquarters? Or just in a abandoned tower maybe?

Hmm, maybe. So far I guessed that the players would want to make Rocket bases in towns.
But having one tucked away in Viridian Forest, or in the island caves near Cinnabar, would be pretty neat.
A little like the secret bases from Ruby and Sapphire.

Ya kinda like that if you ever watched the anime it was always in an old warehouse or secret passages under a cottage in the forest that would be pretty cool if people would truck things to a base in viridian forest also are you planning on having the sevii islands at all with the rocket base?

Probably not. Kanto has a lot of different areas, and a lot of different maps, even without the Sevii Islands.
I'm planning on mapping Saffron next and it's just... so... big.

It's debatable, so of course, to each their own. Always wanted to make a Team Rocket version for the Game Development community, but there's always something off with a map, when trying to revamp it. Attempting to fix it was extremely exhausting, so I really am glad to see you're looking to give it a try. ToxicPurple was like the best TR game, it really was a shame it never got finished. Facing off against Red, where I'm assuming there's a chance the player can lose, would have been awesome.

Please let me know if you find any! Or anything in the gameplay that makes things less fun.
I've done my best to eliminate glitches and stuff, but figuring out which things are fun, or when things start getting boring, is really difficult from this angle.

Yeah, that's why I always liked Gold and Silver best. Everything was a bit unpredictable, from the semi-evil Rival to discovering all the different features that they included.
I liked that you never really knew where the game was going to send you, or what new thing it was going to throw at you next.

Progress:
-Going to include a small 'Detective event' in the next update where you use clues to track an important person down. About halfway done with that.
After that will be the big part: Silph Co.

-If I can figure out how to make it so that you only evolve after gaining a level, then evolution will be available.
But, the base for the mutagen system is done!
If you find a 'mutagen' item then you can mutate one of your Pokemon. This will increase its stats, and change its type slightly to balance out weaknesses it has.
Example:
Spoiler:

For Rattata, it will gain a Psychic subtype, letting it learn Psychic moves and making it no longer vulnerable to Fighting type moves.
And it stays mutated even if it evolves, so you can mutate it at any time.

I do need a better way to identify it as 'mutated' though. Mu![PokeName] doesn't roll of the tongue really, but it's not a normal Pokemon anymore either.

-Should be able to include the Lockpick too.

My bad! I'm guessing you couldn't leave the Casino?
This one should be fixed, so you can get out into Celadon: https://www.mediafire.com/?us1ouv247407011

And if you copy your save data into the main folder you shouldn't have to restart.

Did this happen when you clicked the Game.exe file? Or immediately after you extracted the folder?

Edit: You might need the RunTimePackage. It'll be a much larger file, but I can compress that quickly and upload it.
If I understand it correctly, the RTP will let you play any VX Ace games.
