Animaniacs was a cartoon show in early '90s about the Warner brothers (and their sister, Dot) - old timey-esque cartoon characters who were locked away in the water tower of the WB lot in Burbank and then broke free. Lots of slapstick cartoon violence of yesteryear with timely pop culture references. The Warners and their interactions on the backlot with Warner security were mostly surrounding pieces for animated sketches featuring other characters - most notably Pinky and the Brain.

A byproduct of the success of Who Framed Roger Rabbit where cartoon characters go to work on studio lots in the real world. Spielberg was a collaborator on that movie, as was Disney. And there was a rights dispute for some time. Disney created a cartoon show around the same time called Bonkers that was of a similar premise (cartoon character assisting a cop on the beat), while Spielberg produced Animaniacs which focused more on the toons at a studio angle.

I liked Yakko the best.

Doug was awesome. I love that show.

The Beets, Quailman. Funkytown. Great show.

I still watch Arthur from time to time, it's such a fun show. I caught a recent new episode and...it was so bad. Apparently the animation studios changed a few times and now it's in the hands of a South Korean studio that does terrible work with the show. Body parts move as if they're not connected to the bodies and the outline on everything is so thick. Poor show, you were so good too!

I do too (glad I'm not alone! I named my roommate's big-headed, obese cat after Binky.), I try to catch old episodes anyway, for the reasons you mentioned.

I take it you all know One Saturday Morning then :o which comprised pepper Ann, Recess, Doug, all that good stuff. Here's a little nostalgia for you:

gives me chills

You mean, the "And I say, HEY! It's a wonderful time of day! Where you can…" Arthur?

Recess was good. Not a fan of Pepper Ann.

Nor Disney's version of Doug, for that matter. It was much better when Nickelodeon had it before Disney got it and made it "Brand Spanking New".

Hope that kicks off a golden years of Nickelodeon discussion now.

Yes, that's the one. That beautiful show taught me how to spell aardvark when I was younger.

Ah, I can't partake in that discussion. I didn't have cable as a kid. I did watch All That and Goodburger at my day care, though. Kel was the only reason I drank orange soda.

I loved all those old shows. I watched Arthur, Doug, The Rugrats, Hey Arnold, etc all those shows. Now I want to watch them again for old times sake.

I loved Recess so much. And Ducktales. And Pepper Ann. I used to spend my weekend mornings watching Disney shows :( I stopped in the late Kim Possible seasons, I'd still like to watch the ending.

I watched Arthur the other day and I was amazed by all the pop culture references.

Omg the old kid shows xD
I haven't seen any in a while, though I remember stumbling over a douchey episode of Arthur one time. Either the show had significantly changed since the days of old, or I had just forgotten ._.

You are reminding me of my own childhood.

Hard to believe Chuckie's voice is also Bart Simpson.

Wow, really?

Rugrats, a great part of my childhood. I think I've watched every episode to date.
I just feel like picking up some DVD's and just start going on the nostalgic train.

Interestingly enough Nancy Cartwright also was the voice of Rufus on Kim Possible.

Google is smart.

Arthur, Pokemon, Looney Tunes, and both long-running children's animes called Doraemon and Shin Chan are my childhood favourites, I might miss some, but these deserves mentions.

Since 2002, yes.

The Chuckie I grew up with is Christine Cavanaugh
