Well sweeties, seeing as though X and Y are going to be on the 3DS, this brings up some interesting stuff regarding Pokémon storage and transfer. Will we be able to save our Pokémon onto SD cards? Will we be able to transfer our Pokémon from previous generations using an app? Any ideas or theories you guys would like to share?

That's a good idea, this might introduce the use of multiple save files too.

Makes me ponder if the game will be downloadable as well. Plenty of first party Nintendo games are.

3DS data can only be read onto on 3DS, so I don't really se the point of saving Pokemon onto the SD card. And from my experience, 3DS games save onto the cartridge like they always did, multiple saves may be possible now, due to 3DS carts having more memory space than DS carts.

As for transfering, they're most likely to use something similar to Poketransfer in my opinion.

Well sweetie, theoretically we could have plenty of PC boxes if we can save on an SD cart.

Maybe we can also do trades through SD cart too! Hmm brings up an interesting point!

I liked the boxes in Pearl and Diamond the best.. so I really hope they bring that sort of style back! Then again.. maybe there will be like a pokemon farm like the Wii game. Now that might be pretty cool!

Why is everyone wanting Multiple Saves thats a Stupid Idea

Generally when you Buy a Game you buy it so Only you can Play it Not for a Billion other People to play it

Having Multiple Save Files would Ruin sales because you would only need 1 Copy also It would Bring about the Problem of cloning

Multiple save files do not bring up the possibility of cloning, only of obtaining all three starters and multiples of each legendary.

Which you could do anyway by trading them off and restarting. Multiple save files simply allows you to have a bout of "you know what I really wanna play again? Pokemon!" without having to restart your file. To this day I don't have the heart to restart my Emerald, but I've wanted to plenty of times.

As for the actual discussion, I think PC boxes saved on the SD card is a definite possibility. It makes the lives of the living Pokedex people (like me!) much easier when the living Pokedex is no longer competing for space with your competitive Pokemon, your sentimental Pokemon you caught in 2003, the multiple one-off Pokemon you've accrued over the years. The number of sentimental, one-off, and competitive Pokemon that need to be kept seem to increase faster than available box space does.

A two save file thing would be cool, with a twist. Perhaps one save file is the protagonist that beats the Gyms and becomes Champion, while the other is the protagonist that goes after the evil team. Events finished in one save file effect the world in the other, as if the two adventures are happening concurrently. When both files are completed, the Pokemon and post game are merged, so you can pick whichever protagonist you like better and head through the post game with them.

That'd be something I'd love to see.

Off-topic: I'm still waiting for that GBC hack you don't do betas for Jeremy :P. It's good to see another familiar face from when I first joined the hacking scene!

I think the storage system is pretty good as is. I'd like a lot more room though. Oh and a sorting feature would be nice as well. Save me having to do it.

Maybe there will be an app like the R/S PokeBox from way back when? That way you could simply transfer your favorite Pokemon from B2/W2 to the app and subsequently transfer them to X/Y. I'd love that, personally, as it'd likely cut down the time necessary to transfer all the Pokemon I've collected for PokeDex completion purposes.

It would be interesting to see what Pokémon X and Pokémon Y can do with Pokémon Storage as well as Transferring. Maybe there could be some app in where you send your old Pokémon from Pokémon Black Version 2 and White Version 2 and where you'd play some sort of minigame, similar to the one in Pokémon Black/White/Black 2/White 2.

But I would actually like to see extra Pokémon being able to be stored on an SD card as extra data from Pokémon X or Pokémon Y, since 3DS games can create extra data on the SD card mainly for SpotPass and StreetPass, but would indeed be possible for Pokémon storage data as well.

That would be really nice to see. ;)
