Everything could use a little work, such as the new tiles. I would suggest trying more separate colors for the trees and grass in order to separate them, as right now they look rather similar. Maybe darker green for the trees with less blue?

It's awesome that you're composing your own music, there's a couple things that I noticed though:

- the chordal structure sounds a little funky and muddled, and the chords on 2 and 4 (I'm assuming that's what they're on) should move instead of staying stagnant the entire time. Right now they sound kinda weird.
- The melody muddles into the background, I suggest turning down the background if possible to allow the melody to come out.
- The modal shift in the middle of the melody kinda ruins it for me. Try to keep it major or minor instead of changing
- I really like the break around 1:00, you could maybe even make that more intense
- STEEL DRUMS :3

All in all the music isn't bad, it has potential, but it definitely needs to be worked on. Feel free to VM/PM me for any ideas or advice you might want. Good Luck!

I have this thing... I always pick the fire starter.
And I really like how Gryferno looks, but I also like how the other two look as well.
I definitely look forward to this.
If I was more into rom hacking, I'd offer to help... But currently, I have no experience... Gonna go look at tuts later.
I actually did consider making the rest of the starters catchable; There's an island I plan on having the player go to at the end of the game, and I thought about placing them there.

And it's great that you're going to look at some tuts, rom hacking is fun.

I couldn't think of a good reply that's not "thank you," so instead, you can have this!

I can agree with your feedback. I'm actually starting to like the tiles less than I did before, so I'm probably going to scrap those and make new ones. I'll definitely be taking your advice for their color on the next ones, though.

As for the music, I could really use the ideas/advice; this is my first time composing. I'm using a demo for a program to make the music (which is probably my first problem), and while I was exporting the tracks separately and putting them into my video program, the dynamics were all messed up. That would probably explain why the background was too loud. I also don't know much about stuff like modal shift, haha, which I could probably easily get around to fixing.

Thank you very much for the advice, though! I really appreciate it.

Also, I've been working on a new piece; it's a little repetitive, however. It's the theme for a big city within a mountain (kind of like the Under from Pokemon Colosseum). I'll get it onto Youtube in a little while.

EDIT: I can't think of a good name for the region for some reason. If people could give me some ideas, I'll pick the best one and credit whoever thought of it.

How about the Colpria or Camizu region? You can spell them with a "K' if you wanna keep that theme, but I think the "C" would look better.

Hm... I like all of those names... What about improvising by combining them, like Conovia? Volcamizu (nova made me think of volcanoes, ahaha)?

That would be fine, but I like Volcamizu better if you go with one of them. I tried to keep the names shorter (like all the others) without sounding like one of them (Unova). Now that I think about it, a region that starts with "K" might be a good idea but, again, I'll leave that up to you. Glad I could help! Also, I'd be interested in helping with the hack later on, because I really like where this project is going, but I'm not the most experienced programmer. I might look into it when I get some time (or just bored haha)

The hack looks good overall but I'd say maybe change the tiles so it will be graphically appealing that's all. And be sure to have great scripts in your hack a hack will never be good it has horrible scripts. :3

Quite honestly, I can't see the problem with it. The sprites look awesome, they just need a moveset befitting of them, really.

With how great they look, I say full steam ahead with it!

I think that you're right about the region name being shorter. I also forgot that Unova has nova in it (I've never played Black or White
Spoiler:
). I saw someone think of the "Kochi" region online, does that sound good?
Also, I would love the help later, but I'm waiting until the summer before I get actual help (I don't have a lot of time to put into the game right now).

Thanks, and I can definitely agree with you. I really want the game to have a different look to it than the other games without straying too far from the originals, so yeah, I will need a good tileset. I'm also just okay at scripting, so I'll need help with it when I'm ready, but it'll be good when it's done.

I would love the help, but I'm not going to take any until this summer when I can put much more devotion into the hack. I'll keep you in mind, but I have been planning on adding fakemons....

Kochi has a weird feel to it and sounds kinda choppy. I can't think of any more region names atm but I'll come back to you with a few more, if you want. Also, the summer would be best for me anyways, and I knew you had said that before too haha.

I would love more ideas for region names. And I figured I had mentioned the summer enough times, haha.

I like these; they're definitely added to the list of considered region names in my head.
I'm probably going to pick what I think the best ones and create a poll to see what other members of Pokecommunity think. It'll be like American Idol, except with region names, and no Randy Jackson.

I thought you would do that and was gonna suggest it haha. A few other options could be Kapix (can be said 2 different ways), Kyrozes, Kravu, and Kilaswag (see what I did there? )

Haha, Kilaswag. Those sound good too. Hmmm.... I'm of thinking that the region name shouldn't start with a K because Kanto started with K.

Well, I don't really see that being a problem, as long as it doesn't sound like Kanto. But if you want, you can just spell those with a "C" instead. Oh, and I had a comment about your starters. They seriously look great, but I just hope you don't give the griffin-based line a Fire/Flying typing, just because it's not that good and it doomed Charizard. Hate to see them just be a repeat of that...so maybe Fire/Dragon could work? As for 4th and 5th gen Pokemon, I don't think the game will really need many of them, but I'd lean towards more 4th generation, as that includes new evolutions of previous Pokemon, etc.

You have a good point. And I was actually thinking of changing the fire starter (although I'd keep it as a catchable Pokemon in-game), a gryphon doesn't really fit with a salamander and a shark. I might do a fire/dragon now, and the reason I was doing fire/flying was because it fit with the secondary type match-ups (fighting-rock-flying), if that makes sense.

I was also planning on not using generation 5 Pokemon based solely on the fact that I've never played a generation 5 game.

Yea I get what you were trying to do, giving each a secondary typing that is good against the starter they'd otherwise be weak to. There's a few more triangles like that, like Ghost (or Fighting)/Psychic/Dark, etc. The only other issue that could be a problem is how much the salamanders are like the geckos (the Treecko line). I really like your starters though, but maybe you could keep the awesome shark and move the griffins like you suggested, then maybe revamp a little. I can help with getting the typing triangles or something else if you have trouble deciding. Leaving out 5th gen shouldn't be that big of a problem, unless you wanna toss in a few or maybe make some new evolutions for ones that need it (poor Stunfisk >.>)

Is it me or does the OW resemble Ness from the Mother series?
No?
Must be seeing things.

Anyway this looks great! The fakemon look legitimate and the story is nice and solid.
Why not just call the region Kunzite? Or to bland?

I was worried about the whole gecko issue when I made the grass starter, but I when I thought of the name "SLAMANDER" I couldn't help but make it. I may end up revamping the starters like you said; if I keep the shark line as the Water/Rock type I won't even need to add secondary types to the other two, Rock-Fire-Grass is a type triangle already. If you have any Fakemon ideas (and this goes for everyone), feel free to PM them to me because I'm running out of ideas.

After looking at Stunfisk, I feel like the poor thing needs some kind of evolution. I guess I'll throw in a few 5th generation Pokemon, in that case.

I didn't even notice the resemblance and I made the character, haha, good eye.
And thank you! That's also not a bad idea. Although, I haven't played a Pokemon game where the region was the same name as the game, would it be too 'unorthodox' or would it not matter?

Well, that won't really work though. The problem is, besides Water/Rock being a not-so-great typing, that wouldn't give the grass type an edge over the fire starter. A really cool triangle is Grass/Electric, Fire/Water, and Water/Ground. Or you could always try Grass/Ghost, Fire/Psychic, and Water/Fighting for a "perfect type triangle". As for the region, I probably wouldn't make it the same just because it's unorthodox and not that creative. It wouldn't be the end of the world, though. Also, I'll send you a few ideas when I get some time. A good idea I thought of for the game would be to add hidden abilities with a unique way to get them (since there's no Dream World ofc).

Oh yeah, I guess you're right. The problem is, the shark line has a theme involving anchors and weights for fishing, which would make it the steel or rock type. I didn't want to use Water/Steel because Empoleon has already claimed that type combination. What if there wasn't a perfect type triangle, and the secondary types didn't really affect each other (like in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald)?

I also think it would be really cool to add hidden abilities, but first I'd have to figure out how.

Yea, I see where you were goin with it but Conkeldurr holds 2 stone pillars and is a mono Fighting pokemon. So the anchors could just be a sign of strength. And to be honest, another Water/Steel wouldn't be so bad, as long as there's not ANOTHER Fire/Fighting starter. I think you should just go with making the starters good, like you said. You can make the griffins become a Dragon and keep them as the Fire starter, make the sharks either Fighting, Ground, or Steel, and then replace the Grass starter line and maybe use Electric, Ghost, or even Rock would make a good secondary type. Hope that gives you a few ideas.

As for a few other things, the physical/special split is probably a good idea to improve the game. Since this is a FireRed hack, that will have to be done manually...for tiles, you're doing a good job, but I just wanted to mention that you should try to make them really pop. An exellent example is the awesome work Dante did in the Ruby hack, Pokemon Crono, if you wanna take a look. Last thing - do you plan on adding new moves and/or abilities?
