Rules of the Scripts & Tutorials section
The community rules and Game Development section rules also apply here.

  • This section is for any kind of resource which isn't graphics or music. This includes scripts, tutorials, software, tools, game engines and so forth.
Posting resources
  • Be sure to use the most appropriate thread prefix for your thread.
  • Your thread's title should be specific and say what resource(s) it contains.
  • The thread itself should also state which program/tool/language the resource is intended for, where appropriate.
  • Include as much description and explanation about your resource as possible.
  • Be sure to include credits, and where possible, state who did what.
  • Avoid making a new thread for your resource if there is an existing one for the same thing. Post in there instead, if appropriate. You may make a new thread for your resource, however, if it is different enough to the existing one, or if the existing one is out of date.
Requesting resources
  • All requests for resources must be posted in the "Requests" thread.
  • The thing requested should be posted in a thread here so that everyone can use it. It should not be posted in the "Requests" thread, although a link to it may be.
  • Do not continue to repost or bump your request if it is not answered. You may be asking for too much.
  • You may not request illegal software or "warez" at all.
  • Since tutorials are a resource, the above rules apply to them too. This section just contains a few extra pointers on how to make a good tutorial.
  • Ensure that your tutorial is as descriptive as possible, and is easy to read. Also, if it isn't obvious why a particular instruction has been included (common in scripting tutorials), explain what the purpose of it is.
  • Make sure that your tutorial is correct before you post it, so that following its instructions will not cause any errors. This means you should test it out yourself first.
  • Avoid posting a tutorial (either in a new thread or an existing thread) if there is an existing tutorial about the same thing. However, you may post your own tutorial if it is different enough to the existing one, is an improvement on it, or if the existing one is out of date.

Revised rules written by Yuoaman, Cilerba and Maruno.
Some parts rewritten from older threads, by Avatar, Neo-Dragon, Berserk, Darkmage31, Dawson and Hiroshi Sotomura.
