Yep Red, barring those non-combat focused leveled Digimon, like say: Pucchiemon. They would have more trouble being on equal footing, but they could pull out a win if they tried.

Grif, that's true in the show, to a point. Like, if they had Huanglongmon in Xros Wars as powerful as he is, the protagonist probably would have died. No joke. He is a god level Digimon. I think Savers was the most realistic about the level thing... despite all the punching.

And awesome guys! All of you! I look forward to reading them all.

I know that certain Mega level Digimon would be more powerful than other Mega level Digimon, but I think that as long as the players are sensible and know that they're not supposed to have ridiculously overpowered partners then it should all be fine.

Yep! I kind of figured that. I kept the Olympus Twelve allowed specifically for that reason. When it gets up to the Ultimate level, that sort of thing gets real tricky to work with.

Well, like it was mentioned I just assumed that having a really strong (comparatively to others on its level) digimon would result in a significant increase in backlash, not to mention the more difficult path to get there. Uhm, I guess I could use T.K. and Patamon as an example of this. It took them significantly longer to achieve the Angemon digivolution and it only lasted moments before Angemon reverted to an egg. So, in my case there would be this really strong Omnimon X, but chances are it would take Rhodey a lot longer to even get that digivolution for Mistymon, added on to the fact he wouldn't be able to maintain it as long, and it would result in the massive setback of being reduced to baby 1 level.

This is just my opinion, but I would be very surprised if a WarGreymon could handle something like an Apocalymon, AncientMermaimon, or Omnimon (well, Omnimon is a combination of WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon, so yeah). The Mega/Ultimate level is tricky, mostly due to the additions of DNA digivolve and a handful of other circumstantial digivolutions. Though, the bonus for WarGreymon, I would imagine, would be that it can maintain its Mega/Ultimate status longer than some of the aforementioned digimon, and the backlash probably wouldn't be as bad.

Off-Topic: Anybody else having server issues at the moment?

My opinion on the matter is that even if two mega level digimon were to fight there would be no guarantee at all that the battle would be even or competitive just because they are both at the same level. I say this because there are generally some mega level digimon who are going to be miles ahead of some others my example here would be two fully evolved level 100 pokemon; stats wise one of them is going to be stronger than the other. Even then any mega might have a chance against another, depending on strategy, willpower and basic drive to win the fight.

In terms of and ultimate level facing a mega level, that is a more complicated matter and would depend on the two digimon in question. A digimon like WarGrowlmon who was essential designed and created for combat would be able to hold its own against Eaglemon or Goldnumemon for example.

Real quick question. Are we gonna address how we get our digimon in the RP, or should/could we do it in the sample post?

It shall be addressed in the RP. :D

@Elite: who already wrote his RP sample not knowing that, you can keep it as it was if you want to, and just change it for the RP when the IC goes up. :D

My bad guys XD

Pafumon for the win! ~~~ o3o

History is done, unless I deem something needs altering. Hopefully I have either personality or appearance up tonight. I'm just now realizing how comedic a DemiMeramon could be in New York... So many fire sprinklers.

So, just to get things super clear, we meet our Digimon during the events of the roleplay, not before, yes?

Time to go edit my character's history. :3

Okay great :] Also, even though I use the models of Weregarurumon X and Metalgarurumon X, would it be okay if I skip the X when I refer to them in text? As long as no one else uses the non-X-antibody models, it should be fine, right?

Noémi Calder

Name: Noémi Yvonne Calder.
Nickname/aliases: Noe, although this is not common outside of her family.
Age: Twenty years old.
Gender: Female.
Occupation: University student in biochemistry.
D-ark colour/colours: White and silver.
Symbol: The Shield of Trust. A white symbol with a silvery sheen.

Family:
[MOTHER] Yvonne Amalie Calder (maiden name ‘Martine’). Aged 49. Doctor.
[FATHER] David Mark Calder. Aged 48. Nurse and small-time novelist.
[BROTHER] David Mark Calder Jr. Aged 23. Unemployed, currently travelling.
[SISTER] Sophie Grey Calder. Aged 16. Secondary school student.
[BROTHER] Jeromy David Calder. Aged 16. Secondary school student.
[GRANDMOTHER] Anne Ruth Calder. Aged 69. Retired.
[GRANDFATHER] Francis Paul Calder. Aged 71. Recently deceased.

Appearance: Noémi is a mess of features, often unkempt or at least done haphazardly. A heart-shaped face is covered in pale skin and fleshed out with rosy cheeks. Her lips are thin and pink, and a small, slightly upturned nose is settled at the centre of her face between a pair of defined cheekbones which makes her look far more graceful than Noémi thinks she deserves. Large, chocolate eyes she inherited from her father are lined with long, dark eyelashes and then topped with a pair of thin eyebrows, often raised in a quizzical expression. Dark blonde hair much the same as her mother’s spills from the top of her head, reaching her shoulders and then curling upwards at the tips, at least when it is not tied back into a short ponytail. Noémi’s stance is not a threatening one, only just standing at five foot five, although a well curved figure lends some support to her attractiveness.

To Noémi, clothing is a realm of practicality, feeling incredibly uncomfortable in frilly dresses and high heels. Plain coloured tank tops or t-shirts usually cover her torso, often covered by a chequered shirt of some description. They are often in shades of blue or white and with shorter sleeves, a preference of hers, although Noémi could be seen with all manner of colours or designs depending on what takes her at the moment. A thin black belt wraps around her hips, holding up a pair of jeans which only reach half way down her shins, baring her ankles and some of her lower legs before reaching the hem of her socks. Noémi’s feet are usually adorned with trainers or walking boots depending on her plans for the day. Finally she brings a warm jacket with her, the arms wrapped around her waist and the torso trailing behind her.

A silver watch is connected to her right wrist, plain in design but clearly of some value, and a pair of thin glasses rest in her breast pocket. While Noémi has worn contact lenses since she became a teenager she still carries them around in the event she needs them. On occasion a rucksack is slung over her back, a gaudy piece of olive fabric with more pockets on it than Noémi could count. It does not hold much despite having the capability, containing some money and a mobile phone, although on occasion it will hold a few books or some recent shopping.

History: Noémi is not a local to the great city of New York. This past week has been the first time she had ever stepped foot in the country, let alone the city. The young woman originates from southern France, her mother born there and her father an American-British immigrant who had moved to the area in search of inspiration for his latest romance novel. He had hoped such a well cultured country would breathe new life into him but instead he found Yvonne Martine, later to become Yvonne Calder. Noémi’s parents met through work, both taking jobs at the city hospital, and after a few months it led to a relationship and then the next year a marriage. The eldest child, David, was conceived not long afterwards.

The boy was… energetic. It was the most polite was of phrasing it, at least. Boisterous was the term Noémi used, and she was sure that strangers would have used something a little more aggressive when the Calder family could not hear. When Noémi was born, she proved to be a brief respite from this chaos, graceful and mature compared to her brother, a tornado in human form. One would think that this would leave Noémi vulnerable to the taunts of her older brother but she proved resourceful and diplomatic from the moment she could utter her first words. They were as thick as thieves but as different as chalk and cheese. Noémi would later liken this to the idea of yin and yang, which she found far more amusing than her brother David did.

Other than the bizarre relationship with her brother, Noémi’s life was unassuming and quiet. She herself made no notable accomplishments until her teenage years, and while there were a few months when her father’s work as an author seemed to flourish, a new life for the family hinging on the hopeful success of the man’s next book, it proved a disappointing result. Two new challengers for the spot of daddy’s favourite appeared soon afterward this in the form of Noémi’s younger twin brother and sister, although in her mind they never quite rose to the challenge. She spent a lot of time looking after them, knowing that both her mother and father were going to struggle caring for a job each and three reckless children and Noémi herself. She was perfectly happy to and found that it birthed some subtle motherly traits inside of her.

Noémi was not considered a genius during her school years. She can’t remember a time she had ever been called such a thing. She heard the words “bright” and “capable”, two words which Noémi was perfectly content with. It was not until many years later when she started her enseignement secondaire, translating into secondary education, that she began showing greater potential. Her late exams were passed with flying colours. The young woman’s results meant that finding her way into an acceptable university was not a struggle for her, unlike her brother who had been flat out refused by any he glanced at for more than a moment. Thankfully, David did not even want to go to university.

Talks with her brother did lead her to a more radical decision than Noémi had intended though. She had been warned not to listen to David’s schemes before, but for once his suggestions proved logical. Noémi’s plans had been radical and exciting for her standards, planning to go to the best university that would accept her on this side of the country. David, however, suggested setting her sights on somewhere even further. Moving out of France to study in a foreign university. Her secondary school offered her several contacts across Europe, one of the primary ones heading to the United Kingdom. It seemed far too easy to send off her application. By the end of the month she had a reply, and despite her late application she was accepted. Noémi was ecstatic.

Terrified and confused but incredibly excited, Noémi spent the next few years in England. She spoke the language fluently, having taken lessons as many French students did and learning from her father who spoke it as his first language, but that did not stop the country from feeling perfectly alien. This country was not her home as much as she tried to settle in, and while she pushed forward Noémi missed her family more than anything else. They were too far away and her new friends were a poor substitute.

And yet, the first time she had managed to see her family in person since her departure was not on the most comfortable terms. Noémi did not know her grandparents on her father’s side particularly well, as they lived in the far off land of North America and only managed to visit on important occasions. They were not as close as grandparents and granddaughter should be although Noémi tried as best she could. When it was announced that her grandfather Francis Calder had fallen deathly ill, Noémi organised time off of her course to visit the city of New York with her family to help see him through the worst of it. Francis was not expected to survive more than another week and he knew that, but the Calder family held hope that he would be seen through. As the doctors had predicted, Noémi’s grandfather passed away a few days after their arrival. It was not enough time to say their goodbyes. Having already planned to stay for a few weeks hoping for the man to make a full recovery, the Calder family planned to stay until the funeral took place to pay their final respects. Noémi, along with her siblings, was left free to explore New York city in the meantime.

It was possibly one of the most life-changing opportunities in Noémi’s life.

Personality: Most note Noémi as a quiet individual, comfortable with entertaining herself with her books and with her daydreams. At first glance she might seem unsociable, preferring to recoil away from the company others, although she is no more prone to being spiteful or lonely than any other person her age. In truth, Noémi is a rather excitable and social soul, but she is vastly overwhelmed by her new surroundings. Noémi has spent years living in a country she has struggled to call her own and had barely adjusted to life there, but this new trip to a land even further from her home has done all but destroy her adventurous spirit. Disoriented and confused by almost everything she finds, Noémi expects that she’ll perk up once she gets her bearings a little more, and day by day she finds herself clawing out of her shell.

Although many seem to exaggerate what skills she has, Noémi can at least argue that intellect has often been on her side. She, unlike many, is willing to sit down and examine the situation before running into the midst of a catastrophe, relying on patience and analysis of the facts rather than luck. This is a cautious trait, finding the idea of self-preservation to be rather appealing, and more often than not Noémi has used this tactic as an excuse to avoid doing something she would much rather avoid. A delaying tactic in the hopes that everyone else would forget what she was working on in the first place. It is not something she is particularly proud of but it is something she is willing to admit. Most of the time however this is used to help the situation not hinder it, she believes that she can gain the upper hand if she simply thinks about something for a second. Noémi has a feeling this may the reason why a Chessmon-line Digimon fell into her hands, as she treats many situations like a chess game whether it is appropriate or not.

Around others she can be a bit hit and miss. Shy is the best term, although Noémi is doing her best to avoid those feelings. It is not so much her connection with the person that causes this as it is her connection with the locale, and in more familiar settings she can be a very confident individual. The girl is working on taking a greater role in her activities though, and given time in this new environment she may blossom yet. For the moment though, the spiralling concrete jungle of New York city is proving a little too much for her to bare.

Other: As expected, Noémi’s voice is tinged with one of the many accents flowing through the French language. She speaks English quite fluently though, but it is clear it is not her first language.

Theme: Transcendence – Lindsey Stirling.

Partner Digimon

Digimon: Upamon.
Level: Baby 2/In-training.

Appearance: For the most part, identical to other Upamon roaming the Digital world, with cream coloured fur and three-pronged frills sprouting from the side of its body. Unlike others however, the downy fur that covers Upamon is a horrific mess, hair sticking out at all angles and making him look as if he has just been thrown through a bush. Even his ear-like protrusions are frayed and chaotic.

Personality: Upamon is a protective, overtly loyal individual. In a short space of time Upamon would become incredibly protective of Noémi, believing that everything is hunting down the girl and that it is his duty to protect her. To some extent he even distrusts the other New York Digidestined, constantly paranoid that they are plotting something. Thankfully he does not pose much of a threat to anything even if he tried, human or Digimon.

This does not stop him from barking and yelping at anyone trying to get close to Noémi. His fierce loyalty leads him into a state of panic when Noémi is not in his sight, and he will search obsessively for his partner Digidestined to the point of physically exhausting himself. Despite Upamon’s increasingly clingy, almost guardian-like personality, Upamon is easily frightened if things do not go as planned. If Upamon’s warning growls are not heeded then he will scurry off to hide, abandoning Noémi for the sake of self-preservation.

Moves: [SHOCK SHOUT] Releases an ultrasonic shout to make the opponent flinch.

History: Chessmon are a close nit digital species. Unlike many other types of Digimon who live independently or in small communities, there is supposedly an empire built on unified Chessmon spanning countless regions. If these stories of an empire are true then one digital egg slipped through armoured fingers, tumbling through sewer tunnels and carried on soft ocean currents, ditched on a pearly white bay of digital sand. If that story is not true then Upamon’s origins are far less spectacular and there is no way of knowing how such a silver-coloured digi-egg ended up on that empty beach, oddly absent of threats that could harm the unhatched Digimon. Truly the only thing that Upamon is sure of is that it was here that he hatched.

As he adjusted to the light, the silver of a fresh Digivolution replaced with blinding sunlight, the Tsubumon could do nothing writhe around in the sound. A newborn with no place in the world, forced to fend for himself at such an early age would have been traumatising. After mustering up whatever courage he could (although it was likely to be influenced more by fear), Tsubumon moved forwards, up the bay and into the giant forests. Upamon’s most haunting memories were of him hidden in the undergrowth of the digital forests, heavy footsteps trampling past and tearing through all in their wake. Often something caught fire. The only saving grace was Tsubumon’s small size, able to bound through forests and open plains alike without being spotted.

But Tsubumon was only a baby Digimon. Fresh. There was no chance one would be able to survive by itself. Something tugged at him, but it felt like no hand or claw. Tsubumon struggled but could not break free, slowly dragged along the forest floor by this mysterious presence. As the floor vanished the slime Digimon scrambled for something to fasten himself to, but there was nothing. He fell, slipping through the ground and simply falling. There was only a feeling of weightlessness, the Digimon’s stomach churning as he fell. It had felt like months, possibly years before Tsubumon touched solid ground. His eyes slammed shut, they slowly crept open, terrified of what he might see before him. This new place was not the Digital world, and he was no longer Tsubumon.

Roleplaying sample

The city streets were cold. They always seemed to be cold.

It was a different kind of chilly than what Noémi was used to. She had grown accustomed to a brisk wind, nipping at her skin and kicking back her hair, but this wasn’t it. She had even grown used to a sheer drop in temperature, mild one moment and then snowing the next, matting itself over her clothes and soaking her. What Noémi wasn’t comfortable with was this sheer emptiness. These towers of concrete shielded her from the wind, and the evening chill proved eerier by the minute.

It would have felt worse if she was alone. Noémi felt wise that she had decided to take a travelling partner, although she had no saying on who went with her. Instead her younger brother Jeromy had forced himself upon her as they went out, eager to keep his mind off of things. She had been heading out to buy a few things from the local supermarket, so Noémi did not complain when she was offered an extra pair of hands. Jeromy may have been five years her junior but he was still taller than her, if only just, and was definitely stronger. He would make a good pack mule.

The heavier, somewhat clumsier footsteps followed close behind her, the occasional sound of a plastic shopping bag filled with tins bump against a moving leg. She had been a little more prepared, carrying everything in the rucksack that rested on her back. Cardboard containers ruffled against each other with every step, and once she had heard a hideous crack. At least one of the eggs had broken. The two continued onwards for a few minutes, weaving down the streets of New York city. With every block they passed the sky grew darker and the more they had to rely on the street lights to guide them. Noémi was surprised at just how true the nickname ‘the city that never sleeps’ was. Despite it edging into night hours the streets seemed no less empty than they did during the day.

“Do you have the map?” Noémi asked, turning her head to see her younger brother. The streets still confused them both, and as the light faded nothing seemed quite the same. They had hoped to rely on memory but it was proving increasingly difficult.

He nodded, pulling out a piece of folded, laminated paper from his pocket. Jeromy opened it and tilted the surface towards a street light, basking it in light. “Right,” he said, looking up to his sister. Normally he would have spoken in his native tongue, but Jeromy had been trying to adjust himself to the English language since the visit. His eyes followed the path back home, memorising it, before slipping the map back into his pocket.

“I mean left,” he corrected.

She did as he instructed, crossing over the wide road and onto the other side, Jeromy in tow. Noémi had wondered very briefly why the two of them had not taken New York’s railway system, but then remembered that she found it a dozen times more confusing than a trip ever should be. They had walked because the pathways were simple and the train networks were not. One had to get on and off of trains frequently and Noémi knew she would lose herself if she tried. Either that or she would lose sight of Jeromy which was arguably a worse result.

This made their trip uneventful but the map was reliable, and it was only moments before they both felt as if they could make their way back by themselves. The buildings were once again familiar. It was not long before they managed to reach an old apartment building, spiralling up into the sky. It was a rather pretty looking building of old, decorative stone and with trimmed hedges around it for decoration. The two siblings slipped inside, climbing up the stairs to the fifth floor of the building. Then, following the corridor around, walked towards the door of the apartment. Noémi had already drawn her key and aimed it for the lock.

As the intricate metal shape pressed into the lock, bringing Noémi’s body close to the wooden door, she heard sobbing. She paused, turning to Jeromy but never once removing her hand from the key. Her free hand moved to her lips, pressing a single finger over them. Silence.

It was their grandmother; the recently widowed Anne Calder. Her breathing was heavy and broken with soft wails. She had been like this for the past few days, and it was entirely understandable. Her husband of nearly fifty years was no longer with her, taken early and tragically. Noémi’s parents had spent every waking moment trying to console her since his passing, but Noémi knew her grandmother as an emotional soul. One day would not be enough. She could hear the soft voice of her father now, uttering words of comfort, trying to break the tear.

It’ll be alright. We’ll all miss him, but you need to stay strong. Keep the memories you shared close.

Noémi stepped away from the door silently, moving to rest her back against the wall. “I think it’s best if we give them a moment.”

Oops. XD Nice one Grif.

Also, guys, I posted the IC thread a couple of hours ago. So, while you're waiting, if you don't want to touch up your SU and it happens to come up soon, go ahead and take a look at part 1.

BTW: There is no post limit for each part. :D You can take as many posts as you need to to get through certain parts. XD Particularly large battle scenes.

Good to hear we might soon see the IC thread but kinda feel like we're being teased since we still have to wait a couple more days to see who gets in.

My previous post has my character written up. I still have to fill in the histories, although I figured it'd be worth posting what I had done so far to make sure it was all suitable.

*high-fives Grif for using a Lindsey Striling song as Noémi's theme.* :D She's my favorite instrumentalist~ <3

Still working on Kali's info. I'm also thinking of having her start with Cupimon instead of Puttimon, since Puttimon doesn't really attack.
