the school grounds:
Ground Floor:
Spoiler:
The entrance to the school is a large, grand, wooden doorway - surrouned by tall, marple pillars.

The entrance hall itself, the hub of the school, functions as the main reception. The room, with an exceptionally high ceiling, is decorated with modern furnishing - white floor tiles, a long sleek maple desk and the everwaiting, beaming receptionist. A stairway wraps around the right and back walls, leading upwards to the first floor hallway.

The library is a large, open space with room to study and relax. There are sofas, desks and drinks dispensers available to students - although it is suggested to keep the noise down.

The only two classrooms of Gilded Halls are also located on this floor, 1A and 1B. The corridor leading out between the classrooms (left) follows a path outside to Valiant House - one of two residence buildings on the grounds. The wide, rear doorway leads outside to the sports facilities and other outdoor areas.

First Floor:
Spoiler:
The main hallway is similarly decorated to the entrance hall, sharing the same stairway and colour choices.

The door to the headmaster's office is made of large, dark wood with intricate carvings of mythical beats around the edge. This door is normally locked, you will only gain entrance by invitation.

The nurses' office is also located on the first floor. Ms. Fallcrest, the only nurse who stays at the school permanently, is an excellent healer. Around her mid-fifties, she is a friendly and welcoming woman. Whilst tending to a patient she often hums or mumbles, she feels that it helps soothe them and speed up the healing process. Some might say her technique is too good to be true, it's very effective. You may control her yourselves, as and when she is needed - your injuries at school will heal faster than normal, but remember to be fair and not constantly utilise her. Some guidelines:

+ Cuts/bruisings, after initial treatment, will be gone in a few hours.
+ Fractures and single bone breakages will take at least a day.
+ More severe cases will need much more time.

Residences:
Spoiler:
There are two buildings for students to live in, Valiant House will be housing the first students to the academy. River Lodge will be reserved for later cohorts.

Valiant House can be accessed from outside, and is situated due-west (left) of the main school building. It is almost of similar modern decor to the entrance hall, the centre comprises of a small kitchen area, with multiple sofas and a large screen television. The ceiling of the lounge is very high, due to there being nothing above it on the first floor - it is open. Adjacent to of this communal lounge are rooms 1, 2, 3 and 4.

There is also a lift, leading to the circuit corridor of the first floor. Off of this are rooms 5-8.
All bedroom have two, single beds (whether both used or not), general storage facilities and an ensuite bathroom. You may discuss the finer details of your room with your roommate, such as colour and additional decorations.

Outside:
Spoiler:
Also available to the students is a large swimming pool, located directly behind the school library, as well as a tennis court and extensive fields and gardens.

Selena Bravo - Meganium90
William Valerius Coenen - Lord Sephear

Introduction

"Welcome to Gilded Halls," the gate guard announced, opening the huge, black, metal gates to the new students as they arrived. Some travelled alone, others were dropped at the school by their families. One by one, the new residents of Gilded Halls clambered out of their vehicles.

The group gathered outside the grand, main doorway. Well over two metres high and intricately carved, it was clear that this school was one of a kind. As the final guests appeared, the hulking door opened - revealing a small, serious looking woman. Her uniform was unmistakable - unless all the teachers of this school dressed up as nurses.

"It's good to see you all make it," she said, her serious expression turning quickly to that of a happy parent. Being the matron of Gilded Halls, these children were hers to care for over the coming term.

"Please come in," she continued, "give your name to reception and then, I'm afraid, your parents will have to leave." She smiled at the few parents in the audience, attempting to steady their nerves at leaving their child behind.

The reception desk, a long stretch of wooden furniture, was covered with small gift bags. Each bag contained necessities for the students - their card key, a map of the school, a school time table and (for those who forgot) some simple hygiene supplies.

"I am afraid the headmaster is out on business today, however, he is due back tomorrow morning to greet you all. Please head inside, when you hear the bell later, the first lesson will be starting."

With that, Ms Fallcrest walked back into the grand entrance hall, leading the students towards the reception desk to sign in.

Matthias Winston - Entrance Hall
It was a nice, warm summer day with only a couple of clouds trailing lazily across the bright-blue sky above the large school. Matthias stepped out of his parents’ car and looked up at the bright sky, not regretting having packed his jacket and decided to wear a dark-blue T-shirt (The same colour as his hair, incidentally), and a short-sleeved, blue, white and black-plaid, button-up shirt on top of it, which wasn’t currently buttoned up.

He looked away from the sky, down to the school itself which looked… weird. Not as much in its appearance as in the feeling it gave Matthias . He’d hardly ever been outside of his house, and even then, not even outside of his garden after he and his parents found out about his abilities, and yet here he was, stepping out into the world. He felt a tinge of worry, which was quickly brushed away by excitement and a sense of adventure, a smile spreading on his lips.

“Hey, don’t start daydreaming already, we’ve only just gotten here!”*
(*Disclaimer: Matthias and his parents are Danish, this is translated for the reader’s sake, you’re welcome!)

He looked off to his right, where his father had just pulled his suitcase out of the trunk and was standing next to him, giving him a grin. He was a bearded guy who was tall and –slightly- bulky, but not really thug-looking. His mother was standing besides him and looked like the typical house-mom with shoulder-length, slightly curly, red hair, a soft, albeit slightly worried smile on her lips. Matthias rolled his eyes softly, giving the pack over his shoulder a little tug as he turned to them.

“Don’t worry about it dad, I was just… taking in the sights.”

His father raised his brows and looked over at the various other students that had started arriving at the gates, sending his son a toothy little grin. “Taking in ‘the sights’, eh? Well, I’m sure you can find something lovely to look at here.”

His mother smacked his father over the shoulder with the back of her hand. “Dan! Shush, you can’t say things like that! Especially not when they’re this close! They might hear you!” His father chuckled and rolled his eyes, giving Matthias another grin, Matthias rolling his eyes as well, though more at the show the two of them were putting on. “Thanks dad, but that’s not really why I’m here.”

His father shrugged his shoulders and just smiled knowingly, his mother giving the man a playfully upgiving little stare before shaking her head, looking down at Matthias . “Do you want us to go inside with you, or…?” Just then, the attention was called to the woman standing at the gate, smiling at all the arrivals. During her little speech, Matthias glanced to the other new arrivals, taking in the different shapes and sizes of them, though seeming more curious than studying.

As the small woman walked into the school, Matthias turned to his parents again, shaking his head with a warm smile. “Nah, I’ll be fine. Thanks for… well, taking the time to get me all the way over here.” His father shook his head and patted his shoulder, smiling warmly down at his son. “It’s the least we could do for you. Gotta grow up sometime, right? Remember, you can call us anytime, and your mother’s packed a couple numbers for places around here you could call if stuff happens. Oh, and, erh…”

He fumbled with something in his pocket before pulling out a small bundle of bills, Matthias ’ brows raising as they were given to him. “Thirty pounds. It’s not a lot, but if you ever get a chance to spend them… there you go. And remember to do your excercises.” Matthias nodded and tucked the money into the pocket of his jeans. “Thanks, both of you. You’re awesome. I’ll give you a call once a week, alright?”

His parents both leaned down and gave him a hug, his father also giving his shoulder a light punch, which Matthias returned with a grin, and the two of them soon drove off while he waved at them. He took a deep breath and picked up the suitcase, turning towards the school where some of the other students were moving into, and soon, he was standing in the rather grand-looking entrance hall. After a moment of looking around, he turned to the desk and stepped over, picking up one of the gift bags, shuffling off to the side and opening said bag, fishing through the contents.

He pulled out the schedule and looked it over, his brows furrowing and his head tilting slightly in confusion as he mouthed out the words “Elements 101…?” Despite him coming from a different country, where English wasn’t the first language, he still had a more or less flawless grasp of the language. He shrugged and packed it away again, tugging the gift bag into his backpack, looking over the rest of the students entering and looking around.

“Hmh… I suppose I better go drop this stuff off at my new room. Hey, maybe I’ll even have a room mate.”

The thought of this made him grin excitedly and he pulled out the map overlooking the area, which he had pulled out of the bag a moment ago. He picked up his suitcase and started stepping down the hall to the left of the entrance while he glanced around himself, taking in the sights and thinking up a million different questions at once.

Riley Dauth
Yep, there's the school. Just as he thought it would look like. Riley stared from out of the window of the leased Cadillac, a 1994 deVille series. The rattling car made its loud entrance when it pulled up in front of the Gilded Halls. The entire interior tremored from the noise, but the noise drowned out after they had to listen to it going for hours. The sunlight rayed through the windows, and it was hot. The airco was on, and blowing fresh wind in their faces. His father turned the keys out of the ignition, and stifled the loud noises. There were one or two seconds of silence, purer silence than the kinds when they were still driving. Of course, there was still the noises of all the other students arriving and vocalising outside. Riley cocked his head back to his dad who had turned from his seat to face Riley with a proud smile mounted on his 5 o' clock shaded face. His hair was thinning out and receding from his forehead to his crown, but it still looked pitch black to Riley. “We're here,” he said. His mum sat next to his dad, picking the grime out of her finger nails. The tall Australian-born woman had her light hair tied in a bun and sunglasses perched up her pulled back hair, and forced a smile, but mothers being mothers, Riley knew she was worried about leaving her son at a boarding school across the pond.

Riley understood his mother's concerns, really. He knew she was just feeling the same kind of anxiousness he felt, and the consequences of Riley discovering his specialities were traceable on the stress lines of his mother's face. He kind of felt guilty for causing her that much worry, but she assured him that she got by with the years. He just was who he was, and she sure as hell was a better parent that way than his dad: not the one behind the wheel, the other guy, whom he shared half of his genes with.

He undid the seatbelt and opened the car door. His father walked around the light brown cadillac, jumbling the keys in his hand and aiming it at the boot. It beeped and the door hatched up for him. Riley followed him around. His mind was distracted by the blue summer sky that reflected to earth like an ocean with a few foamheads drifting by and breaking against the horizon. “Here you go,” his father lifted the silver-coloured trolley case out of the boot and put the wheel end on the pavement. He pulled on the telescopic handle and tilted it Riley's way. Riley took it in his hand and watched his mother get out of her seat to his left. She had a summery look to her in her light blue loose-fitting sundress. “Oh, good, you have your luggage. You packed enough clothes right? And your books and everything?” She paced over to her son and held a hand over his shoulder. “Yeah, got all of it.” Riley stared at the campus again. Beyond the brick and fence gate he saw the entrance of the main building. Behind the marble white pillars that stood proudly like validation stamps for the school's prestige, were the titanic main doors. Students herded towards it, like sheep that were led into their pens.

“I guess this is it, then,” Riley mumbled. His mother pulled him into a quick embrace. She was quite the same height as Riley, as opposed to his dad who sprouted up at like 6' something. He too wrapped his arms into the hug, even though group hugs at summer temperature are stifling to say the least. They let go momentarily. Riley straightened his plaid shirt, and rubbed his thumb and index finger on his throat when he felt the lump welling up in there. He'd have gotten misty eyed by now if he didn't want to put up a strong façade for his mum. “You can call us anytime you need, remember? And don't forget to keep check of the time when you're practicing,” mum advised him. His lips curled into a tiny smile, and he gave an affirmatory nod. “No worries,” he said. “No worries,” mum echoed. Riley gave a courteous nod and turned to his dad. The two guys chuckled and fistbumped. “You're gonna do well. Remember to take your time to go outside sometime, alright? Make sure you can enjoy being here,” dad smiled. Of course, he didn't have cash for nothing. Riley knew the school had plenty of recreational facilities as well, but maybe he could view a movie at the local theatre as well.

They exchanged their goodbyes, before his parents walked back to the car. The engine rattled alive again, and they waved each other off. Riley, one hand on the handle, turned to keep waving for as long as he could. Eventually, the car took a turn, and disappeared behind the block, only the rattling hinting at its distance now. He let out a nasal sigh and rolled his wheeled trolley case with him. In the entrance stood a small woman, who welcomed the horde of students to the Gilded Halls. Huh, Riley missed her explanation he guessed. She said something about the headmaster not being there, and beckoned the mass to follow her. It'd all become clear to him, he guessed, if he just did what everyone else did. He stared at his feet. His black and grubby trainers looked yobbish compared to the pristine white tiled floors of the entrance hall. His neck turned from the floor to the ceiling and he wowed at the size of the place. However, he wasn't here to be a gawking country boy tourist. When he looked down again, he saw that most of the students queued up before the reception desk. He rolled over the close with the tail-end of the queue and patiently waited his turn.

When it was his turn, he stepped forward and rested his fingers on the polished maplewood desk. The receptionist turned her eyes at him, and glew with politeness. “May I have your name?” she asked. “Riley Dauth,” he replied. She nodded and looked down at her paper. And stroked a check on her list. “You can pick up your gift bag over there,” she gestured towards the side. Riley thanked her and he moved out of the way for the next student to take the turn. He picked up his bag walked to a quiet side of the hall with it. He opened it and examined its contents. There was a map inside, a card key, which he assumed was for his room, a time table, and some bathroom items. Well, he already packed for those, but a spare can't hurt.

He pondered whether he should try to talk with some of the other students and swatted the thought away as quickly as it welled up. No use. Everybody's eagre to check out their rooms now, and so was he, to be honest. He peeked at the map and his key card. He had room number 2, valiant house, which was just a stroll straight down the left-hand hallway, then outside, and follow the path to the big building next to the main one. Simple enough. He put the map back into his bag and pocketed his card key, firmed his bag back up, and walked with it in his free hand. He might as well unpack first, maybe meet his neighbours, or otherwise find people to interact with during class. Maybe they were nice people, after all, everyone around this school was alike in the fact they had something special. He'd have to get used to not hiding his powers like the ark of the covenant anymore.

Evan Kyong – Somewhere around the Front Gate

Evan steps out of the black Phantom. He looks up. Hardly a cloud in the sky. A gentle breeze rolls by. A perfect day. His chauffeur exits the vehicle and opens the trunk. Two thuds. The Rolls-Royce quietly pulls away. He is alone. It’s Evan’s way of doing things, getting dropped off before wherever he has to be so he can spend more time in the sun.

He tugs his luggage up the dirt road. Other than birdsong and breeze, it’s quaint. He likes it. He makes his way to the top of the hill. (It’s always harder on the way down.) Suddenly, he loses his balance. He loses control of his luggage and his legs. They end up in a heap at the bottom.

Evan opens his eyes. The sky is still blue, and the wind is still soft. Sunlight peeks through cracks in branches – he’s under a tree. He gets up and gets the dirt off his shoulders. (It’s funny how dust makes black clothes just as dirty as white ones.) He presses his collar down, and presses on the creases of his black, checkered pants. (What’s that?) Evan reaches for a yard-long branch on the ground, and then waves it in the air. (It’s whippy, feels good in my hand.) He picks up his bags and carries on. It’s a shame he has to leave the comfortable shadow of willow behind.

Fancy lightposts come into view as Evan Kyong begins to make out the shape of Gilded Halls in the distance. They aren’t foreign to him at all – for a full ten years of his life, that’s all he saw. (A new day, a new school, life moves on.) He makes his way to the front gate, his pace quickening. He enjoys the sweet crisp sound of black soles on cobblestone. Still waving the willow branch around, Evan ignores the others and enters between the marble pillars.

Picking up a gift bag, Evan approaches the reception desk. He sees the name tag. Fallcrest. She greets him with a cheerful, yet professional smile. “Welcome to Gilded Halls! And your name is?”

“Evan Kyong… wait, wait it might be Kyong Woo Sung, depending on whichever name they gave you.”

“Ahh, Evan, you’ll be in Room 8. Just take the left – yes, out the doorway over there – and you’ll see it. Your room is on the upper floor. I would like to tell you to take your time, but class will start shortly, so please hurry. Welcome again, Evan!”

“Oh.” He tilts his head. “Right.”

Moving swiftly and silently, Evan walks past a slight young man. He isn’t noticed. The courtyard before the residence was pretty, but neither its beauty nor the boy rummaging through his bag was enough to draw his attention. Or perhaps Evan just has somewhere he has to go. (Valiant House. I should have eaten more this morning.)

The dormitory was elegant and well designed, in his honest opinion. After spending ten years of his life sleeping in dorms with boring hallways, an atrium was a refreshing change.

Swipes the card key. Opens the door. Two thuds, and the gift bag flies and lands unceremoniously to an empty mattress. The willow branch leans on his bed. He is alone again. There is a hand-written note on the coffee table.

Your linens are in the closet –” (Couldn’t they have made the beds themselves?) “– and the cookie is complimentary.” (Oh, a cookie!)

Evan lies down on the mattress and takes a bite, with golden crumbs falling on virgin white creases. Lemon. He takes a nap too.

Alecia rubbed some sleep out of her eyes. Ten hours she had been waiting. Ten. Long. Hours. Had she been forgotten about? It was entirely possible. She tended to avoid everyone and shy away from contact, usually mumbling some excuse and skirting away as soon as possible. And there was so much going on in this air port that it was entirely possible she got left behind. Then she was approached by a cute flight attendent with a friendly smile.

"Ms. Bernard, right this way please. Your seat is ready." the lady said. Alecia gave her a blank look, brushing her hair off of her neck and nodding. She got to her feet and stretched out, but the lady took her hand and positively pulled her towards the very long line, heading directly for the front of it. She didn't question it as she was guided onto the plane, and let herself be seated in a very comfortable seat. She was treated luxuriously and served very fine food, but the plane ride was very long and she ended up sleeping most of the way there. When she woke up the plane had landed and she was very quickly escorted to a private car and taken to an expensive hotel. After a few days there she was on her own, ordering room service and staying in her suite, despite the fun facilities. Her head was still spinning at how fast this was going on as she was once again ushered into a private vehicle, and taken to the school. She sat through the conversation and picked up her bag.

"Um..." she mumbled at the lady who gave her the gift bag, looking a bit shy. She looked down at the ground and her eyes closed

"You're in room 4. Head to your dorm, that's all for today. Class Schedule is in that bag, and welcome to the Gilded Halls." was what she was told. She nodded slowly and turned, holding the bag close to her. Her belongings had presumably been placed in her room already, so she should do as told and head that way now. Room Four... She fell into step behind some other students and followed them toward the dorms.

Kevin Blake - Around The Entrance

Kevin sat with his head bowed down in the back seat of his father’s car fast asleep. They car soon slowed to a halt outside the gates of the school and Kevin was awoken by a slight tap on the knee. He lazily opened his eyes and rubbed his forehead. They had just come all the way from Ireland in his father’s 1999 Subaru Impreza. That car was his pride and joy and he refused to drive anywhere in anything different. His father turned the key in the ignition and the rumble of the engine cut out and they were left with the chatter and noise of fellow arrivals to the school.

His father was the first to jump out of the car followed by Kevin and then his mother. His father was an average built man with black hair and a tightly shaved stubble, his mother had shoulder length red hair and a slim figure. His father popped the trunk, reached in and grabbed the bags that contained the clothes and essentials that Kevin required.

His father placed the bags down at Kevin’s feet and smiled. “Look son, we don’t know what this ability thing you have is and we’re not sure if we want to know. We thought about what we did, the way we distanced ourselves from you and we just want to say from the bottom of our hearts that we’re sorry. No matter if you have a strange gift or not, you’ll always be our son.”

“Thanks mum, thanks dad!” Kevin spoke happily as his eyes light up. His parents grew distant from him after they found out about his ability. Kevin felt like they didn’t want him, that he was some kind of outcast. It meant the world to him to know that they still loved him.

Just then a woman gave a speech welcoming the students to Gilded Halls. Kevin along with many other students stood outside listening to the woman preform the speech. "Give your name to reception and then, I'm afraid, your parents will have to leave." With this Kevin looked over at his parents and noticed his mother well up with tears. His father put his arm around her in reassurance as the listened to the final bit of the speech. After she was done the woman turned and walked into the school.

Kevin turned to his parents and smiled “Looks like this is it then”. His mother broke free from his father’s reassuring arm and gave Kevin a hug that felt like it was going to strangle him. She soon let go, wiped the tears away and put on a brave face. “You ring us as often as you can now okay?”

“Yes I’ll call as often as I can mum, don’t worry”. His father then moved some of Kevin’s bags out of the way and then muttered quietly to him. “Don’t you go getting in trouble okay. You keep your head down here and do your work.”

“Yeah I promise dad, and take care of mum will you?” His father nodded and then stood back up again. Kevin grabbed his bags and started to walk into the school grounds, turning and waving as he did. His mum and dad looked on as Kevin ventured further into the grounds. They decided it was time to go, they jumped into the car, his father started the engine, they made a u turn in the road and then headed off home. Kevin could hear the rumble of his dad’s car become more and more distant and then, he couldn’t hear it at all.

Kevin was now standing in the entrance hall. This was unlike anything he’s seen before, it was magnificent, with polished white floor tiles and a massive staircase which lay at the back of the room. After appreciating the décor around him, Kevin nervously approached the reception desk and was greeted by a calm and pleasant looking receptionist. “May I have your name please?” she asked. “Uhh yes, my name is Kevin Blake”. She scrolled through what seemed to be a list of names, Kevin bit his lip nervously, afraid she wouldn’t find his name on the list. “Ah here we go, Kevin Blake. Welcome Kevin, you can pick up your gift bag just over there” she nodded over towards the gift bags.

Kevin walked over and picked up his gift bag, he then moved to the side to check its contents. A time table for classes, a key card for what he assumed to be his room, a map and to Kevin’s surprise some bathroom items! He smiled and shrugged it off, he looked at his key card and noticed he was in room 3.

He placed the key card in his pocket, pulled out the map and started to look for the accommodation. “Ah hah, here it is. It says here its west of the entrance hall in a place called Valiant House. Guess I better start looking for it” thought Kevin.

He readjusted his backpack, and reached for his suitcase on the ground. He didn’t have far to walk until he was back outside in the glorious weather again. He inhaled deeply and a huge smile appeared on his face as he started to head west to find his dorm room.

Liam watched the English countryside roll by from his window seat on the bus, he had always loved watching the scenery during car rides, especially somewhere as beautiful as this area. He watched a squirrel crack open the shell of a nut and hand half of it over to another squirrel before they both simultaneously ran in opposite directions and climbed onto branches of different trees and ate their respective meals while staring each other down across the open air. "Hm...cool." He was so entranced by a few more little common occurrences that just so happen to barely ever happen in the Mojave Desert that he didn't notice the bus had stopped until one of the other people tapped his shoulder and got his attention. He was a little disappointed by how close the bus stop was to the campus, he had hoped for a nice walk but that couldn't stifle his awe at Gilded Halls.

Wow, it looks so nice and...grand, I thought there would be a lot more people...if it's exclusive why the hell was I invited? He listened attentively to the nice woman that stepped in front of everyone to explain how the day would begin and wondered if they were going to get anymore of an orientation than that. On the way into the main building through the gigantic beautiful doors he couldn't help noticing a few of the nice looking girls around. Cut it out you jerk, there are wonders of beauty it's okay to stare at and there are those that need the respect of distance, women are not for ogling. Being a man Will couldn't stop his eyes from scanning what he saw at least momentarily so as soon as possible he started looking at the building instead, besides the fact that it was gorgeous he needed to be respectful to his fellow students, especially in a school with such a small student body.

He waited patiently in a short line to the reception desk, noting it wasn't that hard to guess who was the school 'mom', until it was his turn. "Alright dear, the gift bags are right over there, and the living quarters are a left hand turn from the entrance to the main hall." "Thank you ma-wait don't you need my name? I saw other students giving their names. " "Oh that's just a formality William, in case you haven't noticed there aren't a lot of names and faces to memorize, besides you stand out enough." He got his gift bag and walked towards the dorms, rifling through it as he did. "Key, map...ooohhh toiletries, thank god! I just realized I didn't pack my toothbrush!." Will noted that his card said room 1 and when he got to the split between the two groups of rooms he looked up at the nice plaque above each path. "1-4 and 4-8.....why doesn't it say 'boys' and 'girls'...oh well I guess 1 through 4 must be guys." On his way towards his dorm he saw a younger guy looking as excited as he felt to be there and taking in all of his surroundings, waved and offered him a pleasant smile as he walked by. "Hey neighbor, looking forward to a new chapter, hope to see you in class later!"

When he got to room 1 and slid his card key in he realized he was the first one there so he wouldn't be meeting his roommate just yet. "Nice room, not a suite or anything but it's a school not a hotel, and it's really nice so far anyways, I think this'll do juuuust fine." He dropped his backpack on the floor next to the left bed and himself ON the left bed, crossed his right leg over his left and began to kick the air slowly as he sang a quiet tune from one of his favorite books to himself to relax before everything got more serious. Liam's speaking voice was nothing special, although he had a great vocabulary and was a good speaker, he had a beautiful singing voice when it didn't crack. "The road goes ever one and on, down from where it began, now far ahead the road has gone, and I must follow if I can, pursuing it with eager feet..."

The clouds moved at a quickened pace as Ginevra's ride pulled up to the entrance of the boarding school, Gilded Halls, and she took in a deep breath to steady her nerves. Being offered a scholarship to go to this school had been quite unexpected, but she was nevertheless gracious at the opportunity to attend such a fine academic institution. With one long leg after another, she stepped out of the car and waved one final goodbye to her mother who had driven her. “I’ll keep in touch, Mom.” She smiled and waved as she wheeled her luggage towards what looked like the administration building.

The school was definitely top-notch and she was once again thankful for the scholarship that she had earned. It had said in her acceptance letter that one of her previous teachers had written the school on her behalf. She found this quite surprising and still wondered to this day which one had done it. If I ever figure out who it is, I need to be sure to write them a thank you letter. As she entered the building, she saw that the others had arrived ahead of her and uncharacteristically, she smiled shyly and waited with her luggage behind her.

After a short wait, a woman came through with a few announcements. Ginny listened closely as she stood tall over most of the other students, something which was normal for her at least. She had always been tall. After the woman left, she headed towards reception and smiled at the receptionist. "Ginevra Morrigan."

The woman smiled in return, "Of course, Ginevra. Here is your welcome bag. If you need anything further, feel free to ring us."

"Thank you, ma'am." Ginny took her bag and wheeled her luggage away from reception and towards the exit with the residence hall in mind. She had drawn room #7, which she soon discovered was on the second floor and she had a fabulous view of the main area that the students would be sharing. With her key in hand, she unlocked her room which had two double beds, a bathroom, and some of the basic room necessities. Her brow furrowed as she pondered if she would meet her roommate today, whomever that may be.

Soon, she found herself unpacking her belongings with her suitcase open on her bed. She had seemingly brought just the right amount of clothes and other items, and anything else she could get later through the school if needed. Now, with her suitcase empty and stored underneath the bed, Ginny stretched her long legs, exposed with her shorts that stopped at her upper thigh. It felt good to relax and in a few short minutes, she had already dozed off.

Nathan Steele

Nathan was sitting in the back seat of his dad's new car that he bought the day before yesterday : a red Ferrari F40. It was one of the prides of his dad who loved italian made cars. Needless to say that he was constantly bragging about it in a vain attempt to start a conversation with his son. Nathan ignored him and began watching the clouds as his father was driving the car. These last months, he never got along with them and was kind of happy that he wouldn't see them when he went to Gilded Halls.
They finally arrived at the school entrance. Even though Nathan was used to seeing beautiful places, he had to say that he was slightly amazed at the beauty and the fashion of Gilded Halls. He started to think that he made the best choice by coming here. There was a woman coming to greet him and the other students who where there. Nathan was so impatient to leave his parents that he didn't give any attention to what the woman said. When she motioned for them to follow her, he thought he should be fine if he did the same thing as the others.
Then the moment he was waiting for came, the parents had to leave. Nathan watched as every other student kissed or hugged their parents and he couldn't even do this with his parents. Not that this saddened him. His father then called him : "Not even a goodbye for us?" He watched them and waved his hands before going to the entrance hall. No, he wouldn't miss them at all. He waited patiently before his turn came and he went to the desk.
"May I ask you your name?
-Nathan Steele, he answered.
-Okay, you're in Room 4. Take your gift bag over there please and have a good stay at Gilded Halls."
He did as he was asked and took the bag. There were many items but he only took the map. He searched for where his room was and when he found it, he began walking toward it.

Riley Dauth
Riley took his sweet time to get to the dorm. His stroll was interrupted by countless headturns and gazes at the structures around the campus. He took a whiff of the fresh English air. It must be a one of a kind day to not be raining in this country, he imagined. His trolley case rolled over the footpath, and students passed him by because he was walking at such a sluggish tempo. The inside of the dorm house looked similar in design to the entrance hall, except for the circuit hallway above that overhung the ground floor, and provided access to the first floor rooms. The furnishing looked pretty attractive too. He paced over to one of the sofas and gave it a test sit. And a big flat screen? Bigger than he remembered the one was in his friend Lazlow's house.

Behind him he noticed was a kitchen island. Big enough counterspace for a couple students to make their meals at once. There was a microwave oven, a sink, and all the bahoozah installed in there. It was like it was made for people to live here. Aha, now that'd be an idea. He got back up from the couch and picked up his trolley case by the telescopic handle. He had room two, which was to the left, by the elevator side of the kitchen-lounge hybrid. He fished into his pocket and held a grip on the card key with his index and middle finger. A few other students had gone ahead and were checking out their rooms before him. He glanced to his side and gave a polite smile of acknowledgement at his neighbour, who had just entered the dorm and went to check his room. He turned back towards his door and swiped the card key, letting the door click open.

He pushed it ajar and peered through. There were two beds. One on the left side, and one on the right side of the room. He guessed each room was meant for 2 students, should they have roomies. Would he have one? Oh god, it might get crowdy in here then. He shut the door behind him and rolled his trolley case to the side of the left-most bed. It was the one closest to the bathroom door, so ha! He'd have the quickest access to the toilet for nightly emergencies. He opened the closet on his side and clicked open the trolley case with the numbercode 115. The cask split open and he went to unpack his shirts, trousers, boxers, and jackets into the closet.

He picked his bathroom items and took them to the bathroom, along with the goodies bag. No harm in an extra toothbrush or two, still. There was a cup on the bathroom sink where he could put the brushes in. The gift bag one had the logo of the school printed on the handle. He had his own toothpaste with him, a towel, which he hanged neatly on the towel rack, deodorant, now on the sink counter. He looked up at the socket that was mounted just above the mirror. Three-holed sockets? Well, he knew they had those just like in Australia, but the set up looked completely different. While he didn't bring anything electronic he would need in the bathroom, he'd have to remind himself to buy an American to British socket converter thingamajiggy so he could still charge his cellphone. In any case, the gift bag had a couple razor blades, in case his beard growth ever kicked in, which it didn't. His chin was still smooth, and there was not a single strand of hair that could hide the heart shape of his face. He got the pointy jawline from his mother's side. He didn't mind it so much though. Some people commented that he had the face of Paul McCartney when the Beatles only just kicked off, but then the nose kinda didn't fit in.

Riley brushed a hand through his dark bangs and shook it up a little, then brushed it back so they'd fall back down in a more airy fashion. The heat of the car had made the hair stick to his wet forehead. The flight was fine. Flying to the east meant the sun got up much quicker than he had expected, but still, the jetlag was tolerable. Westward flying tends to be much, much, much worse. At least that's what he sometimes heard and saw when his step-aunt visited from New York. Still, he had a few hours less sleep than he normally had, so his biorhythm was kinda fumbled up, like he had just pulled an all nighter writing a draft for a novel. He smirked at himself and slapped his cheeks to wake himself up. He left the bathroom and fell on his bed. Somehow, he might just be okay with this. His mind wondered aloud. “What would the schedule be?” He reached into his gift bag and fished out the paper. Sports, and then Elements 101, huh. He shrugged, but he figured the Gilded Halls wouldn't exactly have standard classes, if they were the kind of school that could help him with his talents.

He toyed with the idea of slipping into an other form, but he figured he'd best preserve that for some later class. Maybe he'd need to for the class, and he couldn't just wait for two hours before he could shapeshift again.

That, in fact, was Riley's ability. That was the reason he hurt his mum and his dad split. He was a shapeshifter: stemming from an odd mutation in his genes, or the proof that something supernatural exists, maybe an aboriginal curse, or whatever stupid hocus-pocus that might be involved. It got him into more trouble than good. What good are superpowers when you don't live in a world where you can put yourself into a spandex with flashy electric colours and save the world with them? Maybe he could become a zoologist with them. In any way, that was why he was here. Across two ponds from where he would be if he never discovered his power, with the hopes of controlling it, and coming more in touch with his nature, and coax something useful out of it. To Riley, though, he just wanted to accept himself, and maybe find inspiration for a novel while he's here anyway.

He shut his eyes, and just waited for the bell to go at some point. A few minutes of sleep couldn't hurt, and he needed it.

Alicea finally reached her room and opened the door, not speaking to anyone. She was forced to wonder, were the dorms split between the genders? There were an awful lot more boys than girls here... Would she have to share a room? She had no idea, there were two beds in the room though. She put her bag down on her bed and opened it. There were some very basic things here, toothbrush, shampoo, soap... All things she had in her bag, whicch had found it's way here already. She also had the card key, which was in her hands, and the school map and class time table, which she placed to the side.

"Uhg... Why am i here?" she wondered aloud. She had never gotten an explanation for why she was sent here, or if she had she hadn't paid attention. She didn't know. Maybe it had something to do with when she made water boil last month. Had she even done that? It was very hot outside, but water didn't just start boiling! She had to find out more. She had noticed things were really cold if she wanted them to be as well, but maybe that was wishful thinking. She got up and grabbed a plastic cup and filled it with hot water. time to find out. She sat down and stared at it. And stared. And stared, imagining it was getting cooler. Slowly, the clear plastic began to get beads of condensation, and it was growing colder. She touched the cup and to her shock, it was kind of chilly, as if she had pulled it out of the fridge! She smiled some and let it go, still staring at it intently, trying to make it hot again.

"Hey sweety, did you make it to that school alright?" My mom asked over the phone. I had been at the school for three days, even though it was a four day trip. I insisted that I go alone, and with enough push I was able to.

"Mhm." I simply replied. My arrival was rather inconspicuous, and I spent most of my time hanging out in the library computers so nobody would see me too early. It was an irrational paranoia that somebody who knew my parents may try to talk to me and possibly contradict my story to my parents.A big headache not worth dealing with.

"I hope you really make something of yourself here, and remember that I will always love you."

"Relax mom." I said calmly. "I'll probably be legendary in this school." I walked into my apartment, hours before anyone would even be awake. I flicked on the lights and put my bags down, "I'll call you tomorrow probably ok." I said, wishing to end the conversation.

"Please do." She said sadly. "Love you."

"Mhm." I said, then hung up. It wasn't like I hated her, or dad, I just didn't like them that much lately. I figured I'd probably grow out of it, and it was some teen thing, but for now I just went with it. Regardless, I set up my first laptop so that I could easily have a place to come back to. I had my desktop always on at home, and a net-book to carry around here. I wondered if I had a roommate, and whether or not they could find out about my power. "Maybe I'll drop subtle hints." I said to myself as I set up my bed, "Let him piece it together." After I finished I laid in bed, "That is something to worry about latter, now is the time to just relax." As I said that I began dematerializing into my cell phone.

As usual my phone was simply a small room with a door on all four walls. Inside was just a file cabinet with my texts in it, a cot to lay on, and of course my clone deactivated in the corner. I walked up to it and did a little bit of maintenance. "In good shape at the moment." I said out loud, "I wish I could upgrade your battery without having to steal again. An hour always cuts it close." I had charged him to full before getting him in here, so I wasn't worried about using him latter if needed. The only problem would be the premeditation of his use, I can't have him deactivating in a class if I decide to replace myself. "Well" I sighed, "The best way to deal with this now, is to let later me deal with it"

I opened the door on the wall labeled 1, it led to the app area, which I tailored to look somewhat like a city. Each building would allow me to enter the coding of an app and alter it, or if it was a game, participate in it. It took me a month to do, I had to get it to look perfect, I even had the foresight to leave empty building lots, in case I wanted more apps. I had also created human-like AIs to inhabit the area. Many of them looked alike, mostly like random stranger from the mall who I had memorized and copied. It made the place feel real, even though I couldn't touch them or get them to do anything but pretend to be on business. To be honest, I felt less lonely here than in the real world, though I kept going back simply because nothing here was real. I was used to false realities though.

I walked through the city, not looking for any particular app, I just felt like walking. The weather always looked sunny, and the temperature was always in the low 70s so I wouldn't feel it. There were no animals, no clouds, no stars, or even a night time. It was what I believed to be perfect, right in my hand, able to call and text. Eventually I got bored and tired of walking, and went back to the central room. I laid on the cot and looked at the white ceiling, lit by no light, simply glowing as if it gave off it's own light. "What do you think clone, am I alone here?" I asked.

There was no reply. "Of course I am." I answered myself, "I should ask if I'm alone up there in reality." The room began changing on my whim to a tropical beach, the four doors were no longer on walls, but rather four outhouses each numbered 1-4. I swung the now hammock, looking up at the always setting sun's orange glow over the ocean. "Or maybe I should ask who would answer all of these questions.

Selena Bravo - Entrance

At the other end of the phone, it was a woman. It was Selena's mother, talking her way through the entrance to Glided Halls, a prestigious school for the hidden arts. Selena faced the open gate and the school right in front of her. It became the first time she has ever stepped foot on a school campus...when the last time she went to school was the day she was bullied, and almost fatally killed a student using her poison vines. It was not only the first time she will step foot on a school, but it was also the first time she will activate her inactive social life. But one thing Selena needed to control was her anger. As she hasn't had any contact with human beings other than her grandparents and her home school teacher, talking and socializing with strangers will become a test, a challenge for her.

“Mijita, I'm going to miss you.” Selena's mom spoke via phone.

Selena walked slowly with her cellphone on one hand and her large suitcase on the other. “I'll be fine, mother. You and dad live just two cities away, and I'll be sure to call you every night.”

“I know, mija,” Selena's mom said, “It's just that, I'm so worried about you that you'll be entering a school for the first time since the incident at 13 years old. I hope those interventions you've taken here have worked.”

“Mother, I'll be alright. I can control my anger and I promise I won't fight with anyone here.” Selena smiled. “I also promise that I'll make friends.”

“Selena,” her mom paused, “I love you so much. I'll miss you.”

“I love you too... I'll call you when I get settled in my room.”

“Alright, bye mija.” Selena's mom concluded, and hung up.

Selena paused for a little bit...then glanced up on the two-story building that is Glided Halls. The future, the start of a new life, and a new school year, starts now. “bye...bye.”

Evan Kyong – In Room 8

*SNORT* - “huh?” Evan looks around. Sunrays are streaming in through the window. The room is still naked. There is a half-eaten cookie – lemon – between his legs. (I must have been sleeping.) Evan lifts up his button-up shirt and scratches his belly. He yawns. Sweeping the crumbs off the bed, Evan gets to work.

On goes the fitted sheet, then the flat sheet, then the comforter, then the pillow and the pillowcase. Evan goes to the bathroom. He fumbles around the gift bag, only to pull out a toothbrush, a sample bottle of toothpaste, shampoo, and conditioner. There is no deodorant. (I thought I came back to civilization … this is not what I expected. Maybe we’ll get weekends off to shop or something.) He takes his facecloth and his two body towels and sets them on the racks. He checks himself out in the mirror. (Not bad … ) His tan seems fine. His eyes seem fine, they look as if they are decently rested. His hair – (Hmm…) – it seems fine as well. (Just what I like. Back to normal. No more prison guards, no more eating rats, no more mugging foolish rich men, no more seasickness…) His mind wanders off as he returns to the bedroom. The room is only half-naked. There is also a half-eaten lemon cookie on the floor. (Lemon.) He picks it up and eats the rest of it.

There are noises outside of his bedroom. The sounds of doors opening and closing, the pulleys of the lift at work, mumblings and idle chatter below. The walls seem as if they are not soundproof. But Evan turns his attention away from the door to his window. The sunrays are streaming in at the same angle as they were before. (It’s still early. I must’ve slept for … only five minutes maybe.) He looks at the empty half of the room. (I’ll leave it for the other guy to figure out.) He drops himself onto the bed.

(Time to get some real sleep…)

He snoozes.

→ Jamie Lane ● Arriving at Gilded Halls

"He's been gone for two days now," Nancy Lane said, pacing across the kitchen for the umpteenth time. It was the first time Jamie had ever followed through with his threats, and it appeared that the letter was the final straw. He had no interest in going to school, to writing essays, to sitting exams - he knew that he had far more potential than that.

"Ma'am, we're on the look out - he's probably just at a friend's house though," the policeman reassured her, "there's no reason to panic. These sorts of things happen."

The woman dropped to her stool, resting her elbow on the marble breakfast bar and holding her head in her hands. Her hair was disheveled, her worry really showing - she had barely slept since Jamie had stormed out, she blamed herself entirely. The policeman pitied the woman, he had seen it many times before. Teenagers... rarely is there a real reason to panic, he knew.

Eric, Jamie's father, had been on a work trip for the past few weeks - he tended to disappear unexpectedly when work came up, sometimes remembering to make a phonecall home. That left Nancy, as well as her house staff, to run the house and try to manage Jamie at the same time. It was no easy feat. His absence was a definite constant in Jamie's upbringing, only leading to more resentment and anger as time progressed.

The phone rang, the anxious mother jumped on it, promptly answering.

"Yes?" She questioned, knowing full well that it was the police station - she had had the local number stored in her phone for the last few days, waiting for a call for further information. The policeman in her kitchen looked dumbfounded, perhaps embarrassed he had no idea what was coming.

The man on the other end of the line spoke quickly, filling her in on the situation. Nancy's expression turned from scared and nervous to shocked and confused.

"He's... at school?"

- - - - -

The taxi pulled up outside the gate, "This is your stop, champ," said the friendly cab-driver, not wanting the hassle of being mistaken as an emotional parent.

"Cheers," Jamie sighed, pulling open the back door of the black, city taxi and dragging his stuffed sports bag on to the pavement. He had used the last of his money to get escorted directly from London - costing him a few hundred pounds for this man's service, but well worth it in Jamie's eyes.

The older man wound down the window, lowering his head to make eye-contact with Jamie. "It might be alright, you know," he suggested, with a smirk, "stay safe kid!" The taxi pulled away with some speed, leaving Jamie alone with the uniformed gate guard.

"Would you mind?" Jamie asked, sarcastically, sneering at the guard. Luckily, the professional did his job without kicking up a fuss - he knew that it was best not to anger the students of this school. "Bring my bag up whenever you're ready," he added, throwing his heavy luggage towards the gatehouse and strolling in to the school grounds for the first time.

Already, he could see lots of nice cars dropping people off - perhaps students like him. However, he doubted that he would last long at this school, he didn't have the best track record.

Selena Bravo - Room 1

“Here's your key, young lady!” The front desk receptionist of Glided Halls kindly gave Selena a room key to her room, which was the number one. She also gave her an informational packet of everything about the school, including a fat book of rules and guidelines...which was a little heavy to carry in one hand.

“Thank you, ma'am.” Selena nodded, and walked from the reception desk. She was amazed at the diverse student body, but at the same time, she was extremely shy, she didn't know where to begin. But for sure she'll have to get settled in Room 1.

She walked passed the lobby, and entered the student lounge, which was encompassed by four student rooms. The lounge was luxuriously decorated. There were benches made for students to sit around and relax, as well as exclusive paintings framed all around. A fancy staircase was also in the front, leading to the upper floor of the building. Selena assumed the classrooms were above, as she hasn't seen any other rooms around the floor she was in.

Selena then looked at the map, and she immediately eyed her way towards Room 1...right in front of her. It had a wooden finish, with a golden doorknob and a golden number finish with “1” sparkling gold. Without hesitation, Selena walked her way towards the door, and starts to hear a singing voice from the other side of the door. It was a...boy's voice, but she...hopefully knows that it wasn't coming from her room. Slipping her card key on the door slot, the light turned green, and Selena turned the door knob to open the door before her.

As the door opened wide, she spots a boy on one of the beds, and the radio speakers were blasted out loud around the room. Selena's eyes widened in anxiety. She gasped, her garden vines start to sprout from her wrists, grabbing the door as quickly as possible with her left hand, and the suitcase handle with her right.

“Oh...oh my God!” Selena frighteningly said, taking a step back, “What are you doing here?? Get out of my room!”

She dropped her school information packet on the floor, the rulebook also fell on top of Selena's right foot, engaging the pain she caused. Her vines start to let go of both her suitcase and the door and were retracted back to her wrists.

“Ow! Damn book!” She kneeled down to soothe her pain using both her hands. She honestly wasn't expecting to bring in such introduction. She wasn't also expecting to see a boy in her room, either. Not only it was the start of a school year, but it was also a start to an extremely interesting year. Selena then glanced at the boy once more, “I hope they gave me the wrong room!”

Matthias Winston - Room 3

It didn’t take long for Matthias to exit from the small hallway passing the two classrooms, the only two classrooms according to the map he’d gotten, and come out onto the pathway leading from the main building, to the residence-building for students to the left of the school. Several other students, in fact, majority of them, were already heading towards it, so Matthias simply rolled his shoulders and follow them.

As he entered into the, to him, rather grand lounge-hall, his eyes widened, taking in both the large staircase upstairs, the TV, the sofas, the armchairs, the carpet… oh, and a kitchen! A bright smile lit up on his face as he stepped into the middle of the room and looked around. “Wow. This seems… really luxurious! I wonder if every kind of… college, I suppose, is like this in England…”

He took another moment to admire the scenery before picking out his keycard from his pocket, looking it over. “Room… three. Right.” With that, he quickly found the room off to the right, slid the card into the door and pushed it open, entering the room. It was rather nicely decorated, with two beds, a nightstand for each, a desk to share, a small table, a couple chairs pushed up against the wall and a large closet for the people living in the room to make use of. There was also a bathroom, Matthias noted, as he stepped over and lowered the large suitcase onto the bed to the right, nearest the door. He dropped the backpack as well, taking a deep breath and glancing around with a curious look in his eyes.

He stepped over to the window and peered out, noticing he could just barely see the school from this angle, but easily see the facilities behind it, where, according to the map at least, the sports-stuff was. The whole schoolgrounds seemed perfect to just wander around and relax in, if you wanted to have a nice, sunny day where you could sit under a tree and study or read, if that’s what you wanted. A small smile lit up his face as he unlocked the window, pushing it open before placing his hands on the window ceil and leaning slightly out of the window, taking in the fresh air. This was going to be fun.

Kevin Blake - Room 3

Kevin continued to walk the path towards the accommodation, with what also seemed to be many other students who much like him, were also trying to locate their place of rest. He exhaled deeply and wiped the sweat off his brow with the sleeve of his jacket when he finally arrived at Valiant House. Upon heading inside, the place was much like the entrance hall, grand, spacious and extremely well furnished.

Looking around he noticed the abundance of facilities and recreational items available to the students here, most predominantly there were sofas, armchairs, a big TV and a small kitchen. More than enough to entertain some students, although that did depend on how much TV you can withstand.

After he had finished taking in the scenery he pulled out the key card from his pocket and cross checked the number on the card with the number on the rooms. “Ah here we go, room three!” he thought to himself. He walked over to the door and noticed that the card had to be inserted into some kind of machine for it to unlock the door. He smiled and prepared to slide the card into this small machine. Suddenly a worrying thought entered his head and he stopped dead in his tracks. “This machine could be powered by electricity, if I’m not careful I might end up breaking it!” he mumbled. He looked down at his hand and soon clenched it into a fist. He would dare tell no-one he had some kind of ability, they would think him some kind of freak and he would soon be out casted by others much like his parents did.

He placed his hand underneath his jacket and grabbed the key card, hoping the jacket would be enough to stop any electricity that might pass through into the machine. He wiped the sweat off his brow once more using his free hand, placed the key card into the machine and expected the worst.

Suddenly he heard a small ‘click’ sound come from the door, he pulled out the card and attempted to turn the handle, much to his surprise it actually turned. He gently opened the door, pulled his luggage into the room with him and the sounds of chatter and excitement soon became more muffled as the door started to close behind him.

Kevin didn’t have much of a chance to look around his new ‘home’ as his attention was fully focused on the boy who stood over by the window. “Umm, hi! My name’s Kevin … I guess I’m your new roommate!” he spoke nervously.

Liam had moved on to a new song and was still singing softly to himself and still completely ignoring whatever radio was playing in another room, little did he know how ironic his next choice was. "She's a rebel, she's a saint, she's salt of the earth and she's dangerous. She's a rebel, vigilante, missing link on the brink of destruction." He was knocked out of his reverie by the sound of somebody fiddling with the door, when it began to open he started to get up to greet his new roommate when he heard a girl's gasp and turned up to see a girl in his room...and with vines coming out of her wrists. He was so surprised his face didn't have time to stop smiling before it froze in shock, scrunching into a wide-eyed half smirk. He found himself unable to move until she yelled at him to get out "Hey now, don't get mad at me, all I did was go where they told me it's not like I expected to see a girl in here!"

Any anger he was beginning to feel evaporated when she dropped the book on her foot, he immediately stooped down and picked it up, setting it gently on what would be her bedside table unless they switched places. When it seemed she had settled down he couldn't help noticing she was a looker. Hoo...the man who invented jeans was a genius, even more so who first spread it around that women should wear skinny jeans "Hey um...I'm sorry if I startled you, there could have been a mistake, I mean after all it's not like they really gave us much of an orientation, although come to think of it..." He thought back to when he looked at the plaques before finding his room and something clicked in his head. "I just remembered...the dorms were only labeled with numbers, I didn't see anything about boys or girls, you think the school might be...co-ed?"

Oh my...what do I do if i have a girl for a rommmate? I've never even lived in the same house as a girl before, what if she hogs the shower mornings? And if I say anything stupid she might make me sleep on a couch outside of the room like mom and dad. He tried not to let his worries show and put a casual smile on his face. "Well I've already had time to settle in a bit and reorganize my backpack, so I'll leave you to relax and do whatever you need to do, and I'll go to the reception desk and ask about the whole mix up." He figured a little privacy would be good for her. He grabbed his key from his bedside table and strolled out into the hallway.

Man, we haven't even had an actual orientation yet and the school already put somebody in the wrong room. Poor girl, being put in the boys dorms, it must have been embarrassing for her, and then she hurt her foot too...Although, would sharing a room with a girl be so bad? She smells nice, it wouldn't be very hard to sleep with air as sweet as that in my room. He got to the reception desk and tapped the surface to get the woman's attention. "Hello, yes um there seem's to have been a mistake, there's a girl in my room, shouldn't she be in the other dorms?" The woman looked at him as if the idea of gender separation at a boarding school had never even occurred to her until he mentioned it. "Oh no no no, that's not how we do things here, the headmaster organized the room setups himself, I assure you he has very good reasons for all the pairings, they aren't even random."

Will's eyes nearly bugged out of his head. "The headmaster put me with a girl...on purpose?!? WHAT KIND OF PSYCHOPATH WOULD DO SUCH A THING! I MEAN IF YOU GUYS CHOSE US ALL TO BE HERE YOU MUST KNOW A CERTAIN AMOUNT ABOUT OUR LIVES AND I'VE NEVER EVEN-Ahrm, I mean I've had plenty of girls and I was quite the smooth guy at my last school of course so uhh...You know my circumstances aren't even what's important here, how's she supposed to feel about all this? What about a girl's privacy and all that?" "The Headmaster knows what he's doing, now if you would, please go do whatever you want to pass the time until the first class begins." Liam's shoulder's slumped in defeat and he walked back to room 1, when he got there he slid the key, opened the door and dropped onto his bed. "Welp, there's no mistake, we're both supposed to be here apparently, so I guess we better get as comfy as possible." He felt his cheeks burn at the way he worded that. "What I meant to say is we may as well get used to all this, I'll just say right now you have dibs on the bathroom whenever you want it and i usually sleep on my side so...I'll make sure to face the wall at night. Anyways, my name is William Coenen, but you can call me Will, or Liam, or just Lee, doesn't really matter as long as I'm not jerkface mcbastard, what's your name roomie?" For the sake of a proper greeting Will stood up and offered her his hand.

Matthias Winston - Room 3

Matthias blinked a little in surprise as the door to the room opened once again and the sound of chatting people moving around in the hall outside moved in along with the boy who walked in and shut the door behind him, leaving the two in near-silence again. He seemed nervous, but friendly enough. He was probably a few years younger than Matthias, but nothing to really set them apart, apart from the slight change in height and the fact that Matthias’ hair was dark-blue, semi-short and set up with a bit of hairgel, at least at the front, and Kevin’s hair was red, longer and swept off to the side.

At a first glance, look-wise, they looked almost like complete opposites, but Matthias didn’t really pay it any attention as he just raised his hand to give the guy a little wave and a friendly smile, now feeling a little nervous himself. “Hey! I’m… erh, I’m Matthias. I suppose so, yeah!” Internally, he felt extremely ashamed of his accent. Despite feeling like he had a really great grasp of English and that he’d always been praised for his great pronounciation, now that he was in a place where –everyone- spoke English, he couldn’t help but feel that his accent started slipping a bit. Hopefully, nobody would mind.

“So, uh, hope you don’t mind I’ve already picked a bed. We can switch if you want, but I didn’t think whoever was gonna stay her besides me minded.” He raised a hand to give the back of his head a little scratch while glancing over at the bed on his right, which was currently unoccupied.

Nathan Steele

Nathan was looking around the school before going to settle his things in the room they got for him. He wanted to choose his own but he wasn't complaining since his room's number was his favorite : the number 4. At least, that was a good thing with it, Nathan thought. He was still admiring the school's beauty. Even for someone living in a huge mansion, the details put in each zone was still amazing. He felt he could live there all his life. He was even feeling better here than at his own home where he would stay locked in his room all day.
He then gathered his things and proceeded to go in his dorm. On his way, he encountered a boy who was talking to the desk officer about his room pairing. Nathan was not used to sharing room with someone else but he thought that everything should be fine if his roommate isn't a jerk or a douchebag. If so, he'd have to beat him as he did with the students of his old school. He arrived quickly at his dorm and stood in front of the door. "There we go!", he thought. He opened the door and what he saw surprised him. A woman! He never even thought that his roommate would be a woman. What in the world was the person who paired them was thinking? He watched the girl, she was staring and smiling at a cup of water. Great for a first impression. "Um hi!", he said while smiling awkwardly.

→ Jamie Lane ● Room 7

"Jamie Lane," he informed the woman, wondering why she didn't already know - there were only a dozen or so students, surely they knew who everyone was.

"Ah, Jamie," maybe she did know him afterall, "I believe there's a call for you, would you mind?" Ms Fallcrest gestured to the phone in the corner of the room, away from the crowd and any listening ears.

I guess who that could be, he thought, knowing full-well that his mother was going to be on the end of the line. She would start off by lecturing him, 'where have you been?' 'We were so worried!' 'You could have been anywhere!' However, that lecturing would quickly lead to an apology. Jamie knew his mother felt guilty for her every action, every time Jamie kicked off she would come crawling back with a compromise or a gift.

He picked up the corded phone, which was dangling freely from the wall. Nancy, his mother, must have heard the footsteps, straight away she burst out into a predictable series of statements.

"Jamie! Is that you? Why did you do that? We miss you!"

Jamie had absolutely no interest in speaking with her, it was beyond that now. Adjusting the pitch of his voice, he warped his usual voice to something similar to Ms Fallcrest's.

"I'm sorry, it seems I was mistaken. We'll inform you when he's able to talk, Mrs. Lane. Good day." He slammed the phone back on to it's hook, pacing back to where his gift bag waited and strolled off to the dormitory. Valiant House he mumbled, it was a familiar name - half the mansions on his streets had similar names, but this was going to be something new entirely.

The dormitory was quiet, however he did spot some doors open - probably other new students finding their rooms. Taking the lift to the second floor, Jamie soon found room 7. He sliced the card key through the reader, opening the door to his home for the next term.

- - - - -

Ginny was sprawled out on top of her bed, her hands were behind her head and her seemingly never ending legs were stretched out. The door opening did not phase her one bit, in fact, she was experiencing a bit of delayed jet lag due to the six hour time difference between England and her home in Alabama. It was her first time leaving the country and the process to get her passport and student visa had been exhausting. So far, it seemed like many different cultures were represented so far in the small amount of students she had seen in the Grand Hall.

- - - - -

The card key took longer than he expected, he swiped it through the reader over and over again waiting for the green light. Finally, it gave him the all clear. He sighed, in a slight huff, and stumbled in to the room. As he heaved open the door, far stronger than needed, he swung big bag off his shoulder and on to the nearest bed.

The bag impacted Ginny solidly in the chest and she screamed herself awake as she now felt a throbbing pain across her bosom. The heavy duffel was soon tossed aside and she sat up, massaging the pain away as she felt tears running down her cheek. Her deep southern accent was amplified as she cried out, "The hell is wrong with you and what are you doing in my room?!"

"Your room?" Jamie asked mockingly, without a hint of an apology. "Room 7 - Jamie Lane," he said, showing her his key card, "What are you, the maid?"

He looked the girl up and down. Jamie could tell she was taller than him, even sitting down. Her accent screamed American, although he wasn't sure exactly where she was from. Jamie didn't have the pleasure of siblings, and rarely bothered socialising with the goody-two-shoes girls of his former school. This one seemed different, but he was no where near ready to roll over - this was his room, on his terms.

Selena Bravo - Room 1

Without hesitation, the boy picked up the book after Selena hurt herself by accident. He seemed pretty nice, and of course, not of her type. She remained silent as the boy continuously explained that the whole thing was a mix-up. Selena couldn't agree more, she didn't want a roommate...better yet, she doesn't want a BOY to be her roommate. She felt calm as the boy decided to return to the reception desk, leaving Selena alone to get settled. The right side of the bed was already a mess to Selena, and to make matter's worse, he already took the window-side. For Selena's condition, she needs the window side.

"Wait...!" Selena said, "Do you need me to come with you?" And yet, he couldn't stop him. Selena shrugged off and walked inside the room, shutting the door completely after herself. Setting her large suitcase and her purse on the fancy bed which was twice the size of her bed back home in Mexicali, there were nights that she couldn't sleep, and nights that she felt extremely dehydrated because of lack of sun. She glanced at the window, where the sun glared at the boy's bed. It was perfect for Selena to indulge and obtain her daily sunlight. Suddenly, she heard a loud scream from the receptionist desk. Maybe someone didn't like their roommate either.

A sudden urge to drink water came to Selena. Thankfully, she had a gallon of water in her suitcase. She quickly took it out and started gulping until the gallon was half-empty. She took a deep breath after the multiple gulps of water, and starts to sprout a pink flower on her right index finger.

Moments later, the boy finally returned from the reception desk. He looked red, probably from enragement. Selena quickly hid her gallon of water and tore the pink flower off her finger, hurting her just a little, and glanced at him, as if nothing has happened. The boy mentioned that there was absolutely no mistake. The whole thing was just set up.

"I am already comfortable, and well...I guess I don't mind living here with a boy like you." Selena said, "I mean, I at least need some social interaction seeing as I was homeschooled."

The boy kindly introduced himself. He seemed pretty funny. Selena never had any interaction with boys, and it looks to her that the boy hasn't had any interactions with girls either. She also doesn't want to let out her secret ability, like she did as she came in for the first time. Or worse...she hoped she didn't notice her vines sprouted from her wrists earlier.

"I'm Selena." She offered a handshake to the boy, named Liam. "I apologize for earlier...I seem to have an anger issue." She then glanced at the window behind him, "Oh, and by the way...can we switch beds? I prefer the window side seeing as I...MUST have a window right next to me."

Alicea froze when she heard the voice. Oh god, there was a boy in her room! Oh wait... Was... he her room mate? Why would they put her in a room with a boy? That was... odd. And she could tell he thought she was a freak. She... Blushed a bit and looked at the water, which had begun to steam. it was obvious that it was hot, having been boiling a little bit before.

"Um... Hi." was his simple statement. He was pretty handsome, maybe, and had this general air of defiance, and at the present awkwardness. She was sure it was because he had walked in on her staring at a cup of hot water for no reason. Well, no apparent reason. He couldn't know she had powers. She gave him a small smile and bowed her head, her hair hanging over her face.

"Um... H-hello... Who're you?" she asked, her voice very hard to understand, given her thick Texas accent and the fact she was mumbling. She seemed unwilling to look at him, too shy. "Um... What're you doin' in my room?"
