Basic Rules
These are the rules which have been decided upon by The PokCommunity Staff in order to keep our forum a safe and happy place to post in.
Note the following links, which should help you around our forum.
FAQ - Here are Frequently Asked Questions. You should read here for questions before you decide to ask for help at Community Questions and Feedback.
General FAQ - Here, you can learn about basic functions around PC. This FAQ is updated regularly for most questions, if you need quick and easy answers.
Search - Often there are threads that don't go over the revival rule and people would make duplicate topics. Before making a topic, check the revival rule exceptions thread to see where you are posting doesn't have a thread of what you are going to post, and seek out the thread. If such a topic doesn't exist, or it goes over the specified revival period, then you may create a topic.

The PokCommunity rules below are required to be followed.
Underlined rules have been recently added.

  • No depiction of pornography. You may not link to sites containing pornography, or include them in your posts.
  • You cannot swear or censor bypass. You cannot try and make out a swear word in manners such as d@mn, etc.
  • No spamming. SPAM over the internet is considered illegal. SPAM classifies as posts that have no content, or have no relevance to the topic they are posted in.
  • No linking to any forum in post or PM. We don't want people jumping to other forums! You may, however, link to forums in your signature.
  • No advertising of "free" items, store links, E-Commerce methods, or trading. You are not allowed to link to sites such as eBay here in posts, on advertising of items. You cannot trade items on PC. (Trading can be left to private discussion with peers!)
  • Respect every member on the board. You cannot flame a member within your posts or bash people because of their beliefs. Members have no right to change another member's opinion.
  • Please avoid double posting. You shouldn't post two messages in a row, where no other member has replied. If making simple changes, you are advised to use the Edit button.
  • You cannot use 'gay' in any demeaning way. That includes bashing homosexuals, or using it negatively at all.
  • Post minimums: 25 characters, 4 words. You cannot override this limit. You cannot bypass this limit at all, that is, using "(stupid character limit)", repeating characters, etc.
  • Report offensive posts that break these rules. If someone has spammed/been offensive, use the report button and state in the thread that you have reported them. Once someone has stated that they have reported a thread which should be closed, please refrain from posting in the thread until it has been dealt with by the staff. If it is a post, you are permitted to post normally, but it makes it easier for staff to fix if you don't post.
  • Threads have a standard one month revival period. Usually, threads that are revived or closed. Moderators may state an exception for any forum. However, the maximum thread revival for any forum is one year.
  • Avoid duplicate topics. As stated above at the top, you may use the search tool to find duplicate topics.
  • ROMs of any game, Pokmon or not, are prohibited. This is gone into greater detail in the ROMs section. Warez are prohibited. You cannot post cracked software, or post Serial Numbers.
  • Name change cap: 6 months. Once you have your name changed to your request, you cannot have it changed back or changed to something else until at least 6 months have passed (on Calendar estimate). So if I changed my name now, May 10, I wouldn't be able to change it until November 10.
  • Simple Questions is for simple questions. In specific gaming forums at PC, asking "how to catch the Regis" or asking "how to get to the Fortree Gym" consitutes as a Simple Question, and a thread is stickied for that purpose. Also, the FAQs answer legendary questions, so look there first.
  • No asking about banned members. To protect the member's (or ANY banned member's) own privacy, the details of their banning are not made public. The details of the banning are between the banned user and the staff.
Failure to abide by these rules may result in warnings or bannings.

Tips Before Posting
When posting around the forum, make sure you follow these guidelines.
These links go to forums that are commonly used, which are of the community's popularity yet threads that belong at those places are often misplaced. Click a link here to find a great place for discussion of these very topics.

Trainer Cards - Trainer cards are adorable little card-sized images that can go into your signature. get them customised the way you want at this forum!
Sprites - Pixel art is great art. Check them out, and see the comics at work as well!

Banner Shops - You can obtain banners for personal use! Check out the creativity!

Clubs to join - You'll find groups of people who probably are largely excited about topics just like you could probably be! Try to socialise with them!

The following guidelines are for all members to follow, and should really assist you in where to post things.

  • Polls: Please make sure that you post your polls in the correct areas eg. fave pokemon goes in Pokemon General, fave fire/leaf fym leader goes in Fire/Leaf Discussion), fave instrument goes in Other Entertainment.
  • Gaming Questions: Please make sure to look over the red sticky threads in the sections before posting. If applicable, post your question in one of the stickies rather than starting a new thread.

Tips Before Posting

There are some forums on PC that are exempt from the No Revival rule that makes sure that a thread is not posted in if it has been untouched for 30 days.

The following cases/forums are not affected by the No Revival rule:

  • Stickied Topics. The most obvious.
  • ROMHacking Forum. A hack maker, and only a hack maker, is allowed to revive their threads in a 1 year period. Otherwise, posters have a 2 month period to discuss a hack.
  • Game Development. RPG Maker games are exempt from the revival for 2 months.
  • Fanfiction Forum. Story revivals are allowed. Even Chain Stories.
  • #Free_Pokemon Forum. Any topic can be revived.
  • Website Showcase. Any topic can be revived, but only by the thread starter or a Staff member.
