I think you can never finish this hack. It's too hard to make this hack. Because the Shadow Pokémon, the 3D style in GBA style... But i wish you good luck, and when a bèta version is released, i will play it.

Updated the screenshots again. Shadow starters are up, and new Phenac city screenies as well. Having a friend work on the catching other trainers pokemon, so we can actually nab ourselves a starter. Over Christmas holiday I will be working tirelessly on the game, expect a new city completed as well as a lot of the game mechanics done as well.

The mapping (like Phenac City) still isn't quite up to par, but you're showing progress. The shadow starters seem kinda iffy (they're just the regular Pokemon with a blue-ish outline :/) but I'm sure the hack will improve as time goes by.

The shadow itself doesn't blend with the Pokemon :/ It looks awful, tbh.
I suggest you change the color and texture of the Pokemon too. So it
would blend somehow. Because light color to a dark color is a no go.

Tbh you should try to recolor Pokemon into their shadow forms instead of a dark outline. Gamer2020 has a good version of what I mean in his signature with a shadow Makuhita.

Morning,

I'm trying to start hacking too and I like the idea. Got Colosseum in my house and the needs for gba-hacking (advance-map, advancetext). I'd like to help, though I'm not the perfect partner either (short on time as well, litle experience, pretty old experience as well). I was just wondering if you're gonna add a park as well to catch or train other pokemon, or just snatching pokemon and training them in collosea? Looking forward to hear from you more!

Will be adding pokespots at the end of the game like in XD:Gale of Darkness. The primary catching will be in snagging, however.

Huh. Interesting concept. Good luck with it, I wouldn't mind testing it out and seeing how well you matched it to the game I know only too well. ;p

Honestly I preferred the Shadow aura than the recolouring being used. In part because canonically Lugia (XD001) was the only shadow Pokemon to actually get the change, and part of the story has to do with only Rui being able to recognise that Pokemon are Shadow due to seeing auras - if they changed colour like that so everyone could see then that flys in the face of the game script itself.

I will agree that based on the shots there of e.g. Phenac city you'd need to rethink the titles used (and although one said custom aren't needed and I won't pretend I know much about map design, that may help in replicating what Phenac city looked like with all of its water features).

I like the potential that I'm seeing with this game. However, for the shadow sprites, the coloring is too bland. If you want to go that route, I suggest shading them with different shades of purple in order to make the sprite look more professional. If you need any help recoloring them, feel free to message me!

Not bad, not bad. There's definitely improvement going on here. But if you're gonna shadow-ify a sprite, at least change the entire color scheme. The green rings around Bayleef look out of place when they're the only green in a sea of purple. :P

This is a perfect example of recoloring. The Shadow Pokemon sprites for this hack should follow a similar scheme like this.
