I...can...not...WAIT! YAY! *explodes*

Yeah, this is kinda weird how it's so close to the Japanese title. But it's kind of odd, no alliteration, it's not snappy, it's not rhymy, it's not punny or funny...where has the effort gone with this title!? I'd say maybe they're going to start keeping the title's closer to the Japanese version, but why start now? The next title will probably be a pun, anyway.

Waah, sorry for double post

DP77: Staging A Heroes Welcome!

Don't get what that's on about. I mean, has she not already been welcomed!? I suppose stage is about the contest and "take the stage", then.

Yeppie you are right. It isn't that punny. It kinda just normal but it kinda like a saying.

Su? I guess it just kind to reflect how our heroes are taking the stage since it is a contest. Su.

Apparently, PUSA is playing it straight for a while. Have they been listening to our... complaining? Heh.

Seems a pretty unrelated title to what's going to happen in the episode. I guess for once they're not going for puns or whatsoever.

Apparently, in the Bulbapedia entry for "Our Cup Runneth...", the title is from one of the Psalms, which explains much. First, a take on David and Goliath, and now, this? Wonder why PUSA is doing Bible references? Heh.

I think it's awesome, but it's weird.

Yeah, it doesn't relate much to the events of the episode though, but I digress. XD

Since when did a dub title have anything to do with the actual episode ("Having a Wailord of a good time")? Haha.

As I've learned, when in doubt, go to Bulbapedia.

I thought it was hilarious because Wailord is only in it for about 5 seconds and nobody cares. Ash looking after the starters was hilarious though. Perhaps 4Kids couldn't pick one of the starters so settled on Wailord? XD

DP78 - Pruning a Passel of Pals!

!?!?!?

Well...at least there's alliteration. "passel" just reminds me of "pastels". What is this title supposed to be about? Oh, I suppose saying bye-bye to the contest rejects.

it basically means there is like a bunch of friends who mmight not make it into the contest in one place. Passel means group

And as someone on bulbagarden said, it's something TR would say

Pronunciation: \'pa-səl\
Function: noun
Etymology: alteration of parcel
Date: 1835

Congrats, PUSA -- you actually stumped me on a word. I don't think I ever heard passel in anything. Still, what's with the incredibly obvious title? That's not very creative, now, is it?

Indeed, as TR's verbiage is definitely not in the regular vernacular of anime dub viewers, eh?

Just because someone uses a ten dollar word in a title, doesn't mean it will work, necessarily. However, it did here, sure. My personal issue on this title was more "it overexplains the episode and leaves no surprises."

Heck, give me some suspense, PUSA. At least, 4Kids gave me 'knickerbocker," back in the day.

Then again, it beats "Everyone But Dawn and May Get Out!" Sorry if I spoiled at tad, but, c'mon, you knew it was going to happen, non-Japanese episode viewers.

But we already know that contests have losers XD It's not a surprise, anyway. And actually, I didn't even think of it relating to May and Dawn...it seems obvious now, though. I forgot because it wa sa 1 hour special in Japan. I just saw it as some people getting kicked off the contest.

Edit: Oh wait, I competly read that wrong. I mean, it doesn't make it obvious it's Dawn vs May to me (it's just obvious, anyway) I just think it's a cool way of saying a load of people get kicked out. Hey, at least dub isn't "Decisive battle! Hikari vs Haruka!!"

Isn't knickerbocker glory an ice cream? It's in Harry Potter and my mum said it's an ice cream...XD

But the japanese titles explain the episode, it could technically be a summary.

Oh, I'm not thrilled with that, either, however, I expect the exposition from them. America, on the other hand, not so much.

Yes, the Contests will always have losers, but I don't need it flashing in neon, like an episode title would do. As for me saying it's "Dawn and May," well, that's my genre savvy ness talking. It would be protagionist vs. protagionist, as it's inevitable, or close to it.

As I stated, it's a personal preference of mine. You want the obvious, good for you, and it is. Yet, I don't, preferring double meanings and subtlety. Granted, PUSA (and 4Kids) is usually obvious, they're not normally so blatant with the title -- that's all I was really saying. Do I have to love every title PUSA launches? No, of course not.

As for my knickerbocker line, my inspiration: http://dogasu.bulbagarden.net/comparisons/houen/ep005.html

Pokémon Battle Dimension will be taking a break next week for some unknown reason, so the title for the episode airing on the 11th October 2008 is

DP79 - Strategy With a Smile!

Much better than all that trash about passels or whatever :D
