View Full Version : Roy's Pokemon Quest-Repost

This is the first chapter of an original story written in the storyline of Pokemon Emerald. Yep, been a Pokemaniac for quite some time, so, I felt it would be a good idea to write a fanfic. Was I right? You be the judge....

My Pokemon Journey: Episode 1: The Journey Begins!

"I can't believe it," Roy muttered to himself as the breeze blew about him, picking up his words and scattering them to the four winds. The truck he was sitting on bumped up and down harshly on the road to Littleroot Town, or wherever it was. "On the day that I can officially become a Pokemon trainer, my dad announces that we're moving to this new place called Hoenn, just so he can become a Gym Leader there. And even before I got my first Pokemon....oh well. Hopefully I can resume my training there."

Meanwhile, inside the cab of the moving truck:

"Do you think he's all right?" Roy's mother, Ashley, asked anxiously as she peered into the rearview mirror. "I wouldn't know, ma'am," the man next to her replied. "I'm just a mover. But personally, I think it's freaky how a ten-year-old boy can just sit on top of a speeding truck like that." "He's been training ever since he was young to become a ninja trainer. He idolized this trainer back in our country called Bruno. You may have heard of him--he used to be in the Elite Four. Well, ever since he saw Bruno in a parade when he was five, and what a great master of Fighting Pokemon he was, he resolved to be greater than Bruno ever was. He's been practicing karate ever since then, and when he turned ten, he was just about to leave to get his starting Pokemon when his father, Norman, declared that he was going to be a Gym Leader in Hoenn. And now, you can imagine how upset he is." "Well, lady, he obviously doesn't know that we have Pokemon in Hoenn as well." "So you're from Hoenn?" "That's right, Dewford Town, to be exact. That's where you're moving to, and I can tell you this....the Pokemon here are very different than you and your son are used to, but in a way, it's the same as well. We have different Pokemon, but the goals of all trainers here remain the same; to be the greatest they can be."

"I suppose so," Ashley replied, sighing. "I just hope Roy feels the same way. And that he won't get hurt." "I'm sure he'll be fine. After all, any kid that can just sit there like that with the wind rushing past him, and in bare feet, must be tough. With Pokemon at his command, I weep for the gym leaders of Hoenn," the moving van driver chuckled.

"Roy, the ride's over; you can come down now!" Ashley called as Roy awakened from his meditation on the roof of the truck. "Coming, Mom!" Roy replied as he dropped down to the ground on his feet. "Wow, you're good at that. So how was the ride?" "Invigorating, except for the part where that bug landed in my hair." "Well, let's go inside. The mover's Pokemon will be moving all of our possessions in, so you don't have to." "Aww....but I need to keep my strength up." "Nonsense, I paid for them to do it, and you're not going to lift all those heavy weights." "Fine...." Roy said grudgingly as he sat down on the couch, idly watching the Machoke and....wait, what was that monkey-like Pokemon helping the Machoke? It looked like a white ape, but had very long arms with long claws. "What's that?" Roy asked the moving truck's driver. "Oh, that? It's called a Vigoroth. They're Normal types, but don't let their carefree appearance fool you; they're quite strong." "New Pokemon that I've never seen before? This place is different," Roy mused as the Pokemon moved all of the possessions into their proper places all around him.

It was only a matter of time before everything was in place, and the Pokemon piled into the moving truck, which drove off into the distance. "Oh, I've heard that a Pokemon professor lives in this village as well, Roy," Ashley said as she sat down on the couch next to him. "Really?!" "Yep, so I guess you can start your journey after all," his mother said with a smile. "Wow, this is great, Mom! Thank you so much!" "Oh, and I believe he has a daughter about your age. Maybe you can make a friend, Roy, and on your first day here, too. They live in the house next door to us." "I guess moving here won't be so bad," Roy replied with a smile as he walked out the door. "There he goes; off on a journey already, and not a care in the world....oh, he has his father's blood, all right," Ashley remarked as she settled into the kitchen to cook dinner.

"Wow, this is a small town," Roy remarked as he took a look around. "Just four houses that I can see, counting mine. Wow, that's even smaller than Newbark Town was! Well, I guess I should go see what the professor's daughter is like...." Roy walked over to the house next to his, and entered the front door after knocking. "Oh, hello," said a woman sitting on a couch in front of a nearby TV inside. "You must be our new neighbor! I'm Mrs. Birch; Professor Birch, my husband, is the local Pokemon professor. Our daughter, May, is upstairs. It's not often we get people here in Littleroot; it's a small town, and May hasn't had the chance to meet many new people. Why don't you go up and introduce yourself. I'm sure you two will get along." "Uh...okay, ma'am," Roy replied as he climbed a small flight of stairs to the second story of the house.

May Birch had watched as the new family had moved into the house, and she was intrigued. Especially by the boy her age in the karate gi and bare feet. For only ten, he looked quite agile, and he was very different from any guy she'd ever seen. But then again, not many people were around in Littleroot; they only came for their starting Pokemon. All she had was her trusty Mudkip, and the research missions she and her dad went on. She was suddenly startled out of her reverie by a knock at the door to her room. "Come in," she said as the door opened. "So you're May Birch?" the new boy asked her. "Yeah, just call me May," May replied with a smile. "I have this dream of making friends with Pokemon everywhere...." she said quietly. "That's cool," Roy replied. "My dream is to become a Ninja Master of Pokemon." "Ninja....Pokemon Master?" May said, raising her eyebrow. "How exactly does that work?" "I just find Pokemon that are good fighters, and beat the champion using them. Plus my own karate skills." "So, is that all?" May asked as she rose to her feet. "Well, if you're looking for a Pokemon, my dad's not in his lab right now." "Oh?" "He's out doing fieldwork. He's not the kind of professor who just sits in the lab idly all day; instead, he prefers to find things out for himself in the wild. Come on, I'll take you to him."

Roy didn't know what to make of May Birch at first; the girl certainly had a strange fashion sense. Her long brown hair was covered by a bandana, and her outfit--black and white gloves, a red blouse, and black and white pants with black sneakers--certainly looked strange to him. But then again, he must have looked strange to her as well, in his traditional karate gi and no shoes: the soles of his feet were tough as leather from constant karate training. But he and May would become good friends, he could tell already. But for now, he had to go get a Pokemon of his own, and start his journey. He was a little nervous about going into the wild with no Pokemon, but he didn't know why. After all, what could go wrong? He would soon live to regret that thought.

All fanfics go in the main forum, so I'm moving your fic there.

Quick note: Make a new paragraph by hitting the enter button twice whenever someone new speaks. So Roy's dialogue will go in one paragraph, and his mother's would go in a new paragraph.

All right, thanks. I'll keep that in mind.
