I have little problem with PET. i changed all pokemon, but Rivals and GYM Liders pokemon have attacks like Vicegrip and Struggle. I can't change it with editor, how can i fix it?

1) Depends on the program. Usually you click on "File"->"Open" and select your ROM.

2) We won't supply any ROMs or links to ROMs to you, as it is against the rules.

i dont know if im in the right thread but, when i download a romhack, my vba wont play it, can somebody explain why this happens?

EDIT:when i open my vba, it doesnt show the file of the game when i open its folder, in other words, its not a gba file

this is the code from fire red when you try to leave pallet town for the first time. could someone plz explain what everything is in it? i want to make a script to make a pikachu follow you but i dont understand this barely. ty

Everything that happens in the Game when you leave Pallet Town is in it.
It set's needed variables, stops you from going out, plays the following music, talks a bit and takes you into the Lab where another script is executed.
That's it.

You learn best by taking a look at existing scripts.
The Script Database in the Tutorial forum and the "commands.html" & "tutorial.html" that come with EliteMap are very helpful.

You should take a look at the existing Move-Tutor scripts.
Copy them and just change the things you want different. (Like the attacks that are teached.)

No, it's not okay.
Again the "givepokemon" command screws up your script.
It has more bytes than ScriptED actually tells you it has.

The Script where you start is hardcoded in the Intro routine of the game.
It's not possible to re-script it yet.
However, you can change the Map you start on.
How to do it has been posted a few pages back in this thread.

You can't. It's a problem with how PET reads the Trainer data.
This is set inside the program and can't be changed. However, since PET displays the Pokémon data offset to you, you can easily edit the used attacks with a Hex-Editor.

i searched the forums but nothing came up so i mad this thread anyway

i made this wonderful lucario sprite (thieve it and i will kill and report you, you have been warned)

but i try to place it in unL7 and it says error: Image Is Not Indexed

so any help would be appreciated :D
edit: ive removed my lucario sprites cuz watson has helped me

what do i need to do!
EDIT: Is it so that the rom needs to be in the map of elitemap (where scripted and rubikon is) because when i placed it there it worked :)

I'm new to hacking so I'm not sure if I'm asking this question right but I remember that you could change the starter pokemon in Emerald using a hex editor.

Now my questions are:
Can you do the same for the main characters in the game? Namely, MAY and BRENDAN.

and if so

What is/are the offset(s) I need to change their names?

PS. Don't recommend Advance-Text for naming the characters to me. I'm can't change the names of the rival. That's why I want the offsets (if I asked that right). But if it is possible, then please tell me how ^^ thx in advance.

Use advance text to search for the name of the pokemon you want to replace and replace every circumstance of the old name with the new one.

When I try to compile the whole thing, I get an RTE 13. AFter checking the rom in a Hex editor, it appears only part of the code was compiled, everything up until wildbattle 0xFB 0x1E. So I tried to compile teh text at least.

Compiling this went fine, no errors at all. So obviously, there seems to be a problem with the Wildpoke command. Can anyone help?

EDIT: Never mind, don't answer this. I figured out the problem. After looking at commands.html I just figured out I was doing the syntax for wildbattle all wrong.

I just finished remapping Littleroot town, and some of the scripts aren't working. The script that prevents a player from leaving before seeing May isn't working, the script that makes Prof. Birch get chased in Route 101 isn't working, and the script that causes the little boy to say "I hear someone shouting from down the road..." isn't working. Any idea why?

okay not really a problem but more of a question.

For the rubicode "applymovement" command:

1.) is the sprite interger the interger of the sprite used on the map? What if there are two of the same sprite, how would you distinguish?
2.) can anyone give a list of the movements you can use using #raw?

I am hacking FireRed and it's my first hack. I have a couple of problems:

1. When I put scripts in (with advance text) the punctuation marks get messed up (ex. ! turns to ./).

2. I edited PALLET TOWN and ROUTE 1, How do I change their names to NEW BARK TOWN and ROUTE 29?

3. I switched the connections to the direction needed but I can't get to the other map, even though the paths are the same number of tiles down. Heck, sometimes I can't see the other map at all (blocked by trees)

4. When I replace the female hero w/ Marina in unlz-GBA it works, and it's there when I go to the right offset but it doesn't show up in the ROM when I play it, it's the same old girl.

5. I edit w/ both e-map and a-map, could this cause problems?

6. When i get to ROUTE 29 the wild Pokemon data I put in A-map doesn't take effect, there's nothing in the grass, how do i fix this?

7. When I use a starter Pokemon editor it says "Type Mismatch" and closes, how do I fix this?


As i said, I'm a begginer and I don't know if this is common knowledge. I've checked the tutorials and they didn't help.

Hope this is the right place for Q's...

I just found out about ROM's\emulators etc etc for gameboy, and so i have the game+emulator, works great,etc etc. But one thing i cant figure out, even after looking through the site, reading FAQs, is just a very very simple edit moves\edit stats\catch pokemon hack, for G\S\C. If anyone could link me to one, or link to a tutorial that would be great. Still trying to figure out the hex editing of the game(hexing at all,actually) and am not making much progress...

When I compile this script in A-Map (found in the database; I'll give credit), the sprite that I assigned the script to does not respond to the player at all. Do I need a faceplayer command in the script or something? Thank you in advance, and if you need more info, just ask. I'm still completely new to scripting.

No, there's no way around hex if the programs won't work for you.

Even with the new script, I still get the RTE 13. Any reason why?
May be ebecause of a missing variable.
Make sure you have used the exact structure for your script commands. (Press F1 on a command to see it's structure, or have a look at the "commands.html" in your EliteMap folder.)

Probably your ROM got corrupted.
You should start from your working backup copy again.

For the INI problem, that error indicates, that the ROM you tried to load is not supported (entry not added to the INI file yet).
You can either search for the offsets yourself, or wait until it is added.

You can set the Sprite X and Y position in battle by using Dexter (or PokeDEX).

1) Just search for the Pokémon bytes in the order they appear in the Dex. Then you have the offset and can re-arrange them.

2) You can find the Script offset of the Event when you take a look at it's "Script" box in your Map edit. Then just go to that offset and change HO-OH's byte to Mew's.

3) Impossible at the moment, as the structure of that data is unknown.

You have to Index the colors of your Image with an Imaging program.
Photoshop can do that. Reduce the colors to 16 and index the images pallete with the colors you want to have in your image.

Yes, you have to have the ROM in the same folder as where ScriptED's file are located.

Have a correctly indexed sprite for your Shadow Pokémon, and the colors will be as you want them.

Well, you could change it's pallete to Black & White, that way you would have a "shadowed" Pokémon, and don't have to change the sprite.

Yes, you can do that.
But to make it easier, you should load a table file into your Hex-Editor.
This will turn the bytes to readable letters, so you can easily change texts.
Table files can be found in the stickied thread in the Main Hacking forum.

For the 2nd, in VBA, go to "File->Screen capture" and save a screenshot file.

Yes. That script for example will put those texts at the offsets specified above them.

The flags are different in Emerald. You should be able to find them by taking a look at the Prof.'s script when he gives you the Pokémon/DEX.

For the rest, when you take alook at existing "givepokemon" commands, you'll see that the "PLAYER obtained a POKéMON!" sentence is added just like every other text.
So just add one more text to your script after you received the Pokémon.
Before that text command, add a fanfare command, and after the text command, a waitfanfare command.

For the Nickname script, again take a look at existing scripts. Just copy the script of off an existing one, and change the parts you need. That is the easiest way.

I just finished remapping Littleroot town, and some of the scripts aren't working. The script that prevents a player from leaving before seeing May isn't working, the script that makes Prof. Birch get chased in Route 101 isn't working, and the script that causes the little boy to say "I hear someone shouting from down the road..." isn't working. Any idea why?

okay i got a little problem of my own now

two problems actually:

1.) the sprite that i wanted to move doesn't
2.) the cry & battle don't occur at all
You made a typo at "applymovement". The compiling of the script was most likely stopped there because of that.

I am hacking FireRed and it's my first hack. I have a couple of problems:

1. When I put scripts in (with advance text) the punctuation marks get messed up (ex. ! turns to ./).

2. I edited PALLET TOWN and ROUTE 1, How do I change their names to NEW BARK TOWN and ROUTE 29?

3. I switched the connections to the direction needed but I can't get to the other map, even though the paths are the same number of tiles down. Heck, sometimes I can't see the other map at all (blocked by trees)

4. When I replace the female hero w/ Marina in unlz-GBA it works, and it's there when I go to the right offset but it doesn't show up in the ROM when I play it, it's the same old girl.

5. I edit w/ both e-map and a-map, could this cause problems?

6. When i get to ROUTE 29 the wild Pokemon data I put in A-map doesn't take effect, there's nothing in the grass, how do i fix this?

7. When I use a starter Pokemon editor it says "Type Mismatch" and closes, how do I fix this?

1. You can't put scripts in the game with Advance-Text. It is only a text editor.

2. Hex-Editor + Table file, or you could use the name change option of AdvanceMap.

3. Sometimes, you have to adjust the "Adjustment" of the map, to make it appear at the correct places. That can be changes in the connection manager of Advance-Map.

4. Have you saved your changes in unLZ-GBA to the ROM?

5. Maybe. It was causing problems in the past.

6. Again, have you saved your changes correctly? When you add Pokémon data, make sure you put it at an offset that ends with 0/2/4/C.

7. If the editor has no INI file, then you can't fix it yourself, as it is a problem with the program. If is has an INI file, you have to adjust the offsets to match the game you want to edit.

Like the title says, I want to know if there is any way to rearrange the Pokedex entries, so I can put my starters first and what not.

I just found out about ROM's\emulators etc etc for gameboy, and so i have the game+emulator, works great,etc etc. But one thing i cant figure out, even after looking through the site, reading FAQs, is just a very very simple edit moves\edit stats\catch pokemon hack, for G\S\C. If anyone could link me to one, or link to a tutorial that would be great. Still trying to figure out the hex editing of the game(hexing at all,actually) and am not making much progress...

It will give you links to G/S/C hacking tools, which allow you to edit those things.

You need a linker + dumping program to get your game onto your computer. (Dumping ; Copying a catridge game as a file (ROM) to your PC)

When I compile this script in A-Map (found in the database; I'll give credit), the sprite that I assigned the script to does not respond to the player at all. Do I need a faceplayer command in the script or something? Thank you in advance, and if you need more info, just ask. I'm still completely new to scripting.

However, again the givepokemon command is causing errors.

My bad, sorry. I was thinking of the sprite positions in the Pokédex for some reason. (Oddly enough I wrote battle in my answer... XD)

Well the position data for the sprites in battle has to be set somewhere in the battle routine.

Now the only question is, where...

There are still a lot of things we haven't discovered yet, and that is one of them.
(Basicly almost the whole battle routine is unknown...)

I changed the text in what Wally's dad says the 1st time you talk to him and when you talk to him, the game just freezes and if you try to talk to his mom in the same house, she says nothing.

If I try to leave town, the guy with the shades (can't remember name) comes up to you and tries to talk to you but the game freezes there too.

I've had a similar problem when I tried to change the hero's mom's text in the beginning of the game and I had to start my hack over. Please help me cause I do not want to start my hack over a 7th time!!

There's not much you can do. You've probably overwritten some of the Script data.
You could try copying the original script from a clean rom and replace the corrupted one with it, though.

I have a question....
I was using unLZ.gba to change things on Ruby, and I hit deep scan. Now everytime I open a ruby rom in UnLZ the pictures and such are just dots and specs of different colors. I have used this program many times before and ran deep scan a couple of times, but this has never happened. Could someone please tell me how to fix this before I pull all the hair out of my Head!

Help! When I try to change falkner's pokemon in gold, he gets 6 pokemon, starting with a lvl 0 slowbro that messes up the game. I changed everything, including moveset. I didn't try to add attacks where there was a 00, I just gave wooper(pidgey) tackle and watergun, and gave qwilfish(pidgeoto) tackle, watergun, and another attack I forget. I also changed FALKNER{50} to FINN{50}{00}{00}{00}. What have I done wrong?

Guys, questions in this thread are free to be answered by everybody!


No, there's no way around hex if the programs won't work for you.


May be ebecause of a missing variable.
Make sure you have used the exact structure for your script commands. (Press F1 on a command to see it's structure, or have a look at the "commands.html" in your EliteMap folder.)


Probably your ROM got corrupted.
You should start from your working backup copy again.

For the INI problem, that error indicates, that the ROM you tried to load is not supported (entry not added to the INI file yet).
You can either search for the offsets yourself, or wait until it is added.


You can set the Sprite X and Y position in battle by using Dexter (or PokeDEX).


1) Just search for the Pokémon bytes in the order they appear in the Dex. Then you have the offset and can re-arrange them.

2) You can find the Script offset of the Event when you take a look at it's "Script" box in your Map edit. Then just go to that offset and change HO-OH's byte to Mew's.

3) Impossible at the moment, as the structure of that data is unknown.


You have to Index the colors of your Image with an Imaging program.
Photoshop can do that. Reduce the colors to 16 and index the images pallete with the colors you want to have in your image.


Yes, you have to have the ROM in the same folder as where ScriptED's file are located.


Have a correctly indexed sprite for your Shadow Pokémon, and the colors will be as you want them.

Well, you could change it's pallete to Black & White, that way you would have a "shadowed" Pokémon, and don't have to change the sprite.

Xeon's Overworld Editor should show you the pallete offset, so you can edit it with your Hex-Editor.

Why? Try to put the Image of your Pokémon is in the Picture center.
Also, you should insert new sprites with unLZ-GBA, as it is more stable and has less errors than RS-Ball.

because they expect you to have it, because it came with an older version of elite map. I have it but it doesn't work for me.

I've read the other tutorials, but they all require you to import your image into the game 1st, but when I import, the colors are WAY off . . .

ok in EliteMap there is a list of all the towns and routes and what not and at the end there are 2 numbers 57 and 58 that are blank. the specs are:

57.
Location 0 by 0
Size 1 by 1

58. Location 50 by 0
Size 39 by 0

now I would normally jsut use these but I have some hacking skills in other computer games and some of them have dummy sections for certain events and what not and I wanted to know what these were

Ive finally been able to put in my own pokemon (Thanks scizz) and now im trying to edit the pokedex data. i tried Dexter wich i got with elietemap, that didn't work and i also tried that german program called pokedex which wouldn't load my rom. is there another program out there that can edit the data in the PokeDex?

You have to make sure that the map you dive to is the same size as the one you dived from.
That way you can easily control where the player will appear on the new map, as it will be the same spot as where you dived.

Where can i find the "applymovement" command os the script?
In a Hex-Editor, keep looking for [4F][SpriteIndex][Pointer to data].
In ScriptED, the command looks like this: applymovement 0x[SpriteIndex] 0x[Pointer to data].

Noob question:

I am interested in starting to edit the scripts. Why does my (full) instalation of EliteMap not include the referenced "Diamond Cutter"?
Because it was replaced with ScriptED, which does the same.

my question: could ANYONE give me a download for ALL the sub-programs of elite map (bewildered, rubikon, diamond cutter, etc.) because I really dont wanna have to go back, find all the old elite maps, install them, then re-install 3.7 over them.

Yes, but when imported into unLZ, the colors change to amtch the current palette . . .
You have to check the "Export Pallete" box when you save your Sprite to the ROM.
Else, it won't save your Sprites Pallete and will use the one the old Image had.

2. Go to the "Advance Reply" page (or when making a thread, "New Thread" page), then click on "Manage Attachments" and upload them.
Alternatively, you could upload them, for example at ImageShack, and use the [IMG] tags.

I'm making scripts for new signposts and new people and the thing is when I've already tried these 2 kinds of scripts but when I select the object to say the message it only beeps one time and nothing else happens...=S I've check the $ behind the script offset, if the offset I put on the script was empty, but it's the same thing...

I think there's only the mini lighthouse of slateport city tileset, if u want a bigger lighthouse like the one of olivine city u will have to make with house wall tiles or you could change the tileset and create a lighthouse that way

Help! When I try to change falkner's pokemon in gold, he gets 6 pokemon, starting with a lvl 0 slowbro that messes up the game. I changed everything, including moveset. I didn't try to add attacks where there was a 00, I just gave wooper(pidgey) tackle and watergun, and gave qwilfish(pidgeoto) tackle, watergun, and another attack I forget. I also changed FALKNER{50} to FINN{50}{00}{00}{00}. What have I done wrong?
Thought i'd ask it again, since I didn't get any answers.

Also, when i attampt to compile ANY code in ScriptED it gives me the following error.

" Runtime Error 53"
"File not found"

Help Please!

Edit: I have found that warps work with a door. Are there any more inconspicous methods of this. Like a grass tile or something?

All you have to do in Dexter is to type in your changes and click on 'Save'.

Stay Sick\m/ First off, the $ has to be in front of offsets in Advance-Map.

For the Script, put a psace bewteen the "=" and the "P" in the last line of the 2nd one and it should work.

You notice something?
Slowbro's number in Hex: 50.
Slowbro's level in Hex: 0.
"FINN{50}{00}"

Try makeing sure that the name you changed Falkners to has the same amount of bytes it had before. (Fill the space up if needed.)

You can either insert the offset into your Pokeroms.ini by searching the data with a Hex-Editor, or, like mxkpkmnextu?? said, use Advance-Map for Wild Pokémon editing.

Most likely your changes have corrupted something.
Go back to the backup of your hack and try re-doing the changes you made, to see if it was just a temporary corruption.

2. A Wild Battle Script (http://www.pokecommunity.com/showpost.php?p=1728063&postcount=9) can be found in the Script Database. It's a bit different from the Rayquaza Script, but can easily be modified to imitate it.

Heh whoops, looks like I forgot your last question! XD

Well, not that I know. But you could easily place a Warp in an area without a door.
That way you can warp to any place on the map that you want.

From the game. Just change the used Tileset of the Map you are editing in the Header tab to the one you want to use instead.

Hi! I've got problem with my hack... I'm hacking Ruby. I changed event with Poochyena and during playing we don't choose pokeball from the bag but only fight with Poochyena and after it all is normal. Before this, I created other event - that little, blue colored guy in Littleroot Town gives to us Bulbasaur. Problem - in menu (this on right, after press START) doesn't appeare POKEMON menu after obtain Bulbasaur. How can I fix this? Is any hex command for appear this menu?

leading on to the next map, but there is nothing. Is there a way to
check the entire map and fiddle around with which maps move onto which
other maps?
Can someone plz clarify how this works. Thanks in advance.

Also, is there an editor that can make pokemon learn Aditional attacks, not just change which ones.

Answering my own question. The Official goldmap site (http://bluesonic.lastedit.com/goldmap/goldmap.htm), which was prevoiusly inaccessible, is now up and Goldmap 1.6 is available from there, which supports map resizing etc. You may return to your regularly scheduled broadcasting. :-)

Patch over whatever rom was used as base using an isp patcher.
There is ISP XP and there is also one that comes with Elitemap.
Then play the patched rom on an emulator like usual.

Suggestions for Tuor:
Either use Advance Mart to make it so all stores have Master balls
instead of pokeballs. And change the price.

Or change the catch rate to as high as it will go. Not auto catch, but
close.

just click on it and it will give you options on with file to patch(change to the file you downloaded). Pick which rom you want to patch.(which is it a hack of)

P.S. probably have extra of the game you are patching incase tyou still want the original

Yes, just change his script and replace the bytes of the Item that he gives to you.
You can do that either with a Hex.Editor, or change it with ScriptED.

They work with a connection table. You can set them in the "Connection Manager" of Advance-Map easily.
The game reads the connection table of a Map and then displays the Map which has been specified there, on the direction which has been specified there.

You have to repoint the Attack-Data of the Pokémon in order to be able to add new attacks. If you don't plan to repoint, you can only change existing ones.

Make sure the rom and your .rbc file are in the same directory as EliteMap/ScriptED.
Also remove all spaces from the filenames.

Are you sure you have assigned a music to the place you are talking about?

It's called compiling a Script to the ROM.
This has been answered on the past pages of this thread, go back a few pages and you'll find the answer. (You can use the search function to search within this thread aswell.)

I NEW SO HELP ME!!! i want to make a fire red hack and add my own pokemon,characters,story line,regions,etc. what hack tools do i need and where could i download it? i have that flash card thing and once i finish my hack i would wish to put it on there. how would i do that also.

Then you just pick the ones that can change the things you want.

You just copy the modified ROM on your cartridge with the Linker program that came with it, just as you would do with any other ROM.

For Saphire: How can you make a Poke Ball have the same sucess rate as a Master Ball?
That catch rate is probably set in the Itemdata of the Ball. So copying the Itemdata of the Masterball overwriting the one of the Pokémon should work.

The Birch sprite in the Intro is uncompressed, you can't edit it with unLZ-GBA.
You need to use TLP or Tile Molester to edit it instead, as it has been answered on the past pages of this thread already. The offsets where to find the Sprite have also been given there, so I suggest you to have a look at the past pages. (The search function will help you.)

I've been trying to add my own sprites for the Pokemon Emerald hack I'm working on and whenever I try to add it with unLZ-GBA, it gives the message "Image is not Indexed." and doesn't work (I made sure that the image was indexed and it still didn't work). And when I reduce the number of colours in the sprite then index it and try to add it using unLZ-GBA it works, but the colours get messed up and it has a screwed up background. How can I fix this?

Btw, I've tried to give the sprites transparent colour but when I do that, unLZ-GBA gives the same message "Image is not indexed", even though I DID index it!

Hey y'all, i'm making a hack named Pokèmon Lightstream and i have some trouble... When i'm editing the hero sprite(FireRed) in unLZ-GBA, i replace it with a new one that has a yellow hat instead but the palettes doesn't fit so the sprite gets wrong. How do i change the palette of the sprite so it doen't turn crazy?

easy with unlzgba. The image you're using is indexed, isn't it? (I mean, the colors it has are in a pallete). Then scroll unlzgba palletes (next pallete/previous pallete) to the pallete of the hero. Then, import your image, and when saving, activate the export pallete thing

Hi, I've got one problem with wild pokemon battle script (like this with Rayquaza, Regi or Voltorb in New Mauville). I wrote the same script of battle that Voltorbs in New Mauville has and I changed setflag, pokemon data, level data, etc. My script (battle with Bulbasaur on 5 lvl) looks this:

And Bulbasaur doesn't disappear after battle but when I go out to other map or house. Where is a problem?

Well, for all odds and ends, I reccomend Hack O Matic. It's in it's beta stages, but still, it has a pokemon editor, attack editor, map editor, and a few options. It also has a checksum repairer, and a pointer calculator. I don't really remember, but I think it's available at: http://www.pokedrome.com

Well, INI files are files that end in .ini. The files are: Config.ini, Atacks.ini, Gyms.ini, Pokemons.ini. As you can see, the programmer doesn't know good english lmao. And jedite, threads in Hacking Groups are moderated, which you'd find out if you read the stickies, but that doesn't really belong here.

You can't with poketext. You need to learn to change text with hex, and then learn to repoint. Even I havn't mastered repointing yet.

I've noticed (when I've tried to download and use...) that all the (amazing) hacks that you guys have made are all in .IPS file format...

The problem is that I don't know how to use them. The VBA says that the files are unsupported and my program that writes the ROMs to a cart cannot do so.

Does anybody know how I can open your files?

In the intro(Where Prof. Birch talks) witch black-palette is the correct palette for the background? I know palette hacking so that's no trouble...

One more question... In hex workshop, how do you load a table-file? Should the table file just be in the same folder as the ROM?

First go to unLZ and find the sprite you want.Select save as and save it.Then open the saved pokemon sprite.Erase the other sprite first.With the pick color tool from paint do the background the same as before.Now paste the other pokemon you want to replace and make sure the background is the same as before.If the sprite you pasted hasn't got the same colors as the one you wanted to paste then paste the sprite before you change the background to green (or something else,most pics havr green background)

Edited the text in A-Text and saved, re-patched the ROM with LIPS, now when I try to play the ROM in VBA, I get this error message, sorry about the kinda-bad quality pic.

You must use Palette hacking! It's not as hard as it sounds like:D
What you need:
--------------------
Hex Workshop(Or other hex editors, i prefer this one)
VBA(That i expect you have *LOL*)
--------------------
Let's say you have inserted your Pokèmon. First goto a scene where you see your fakemon(that has the wrong color). Goto Tools>Palette whiewer.
In the Palette Whiewer you'll see lotsa colors. When you see the colors that you're sure are the palette of your Pokèmon(It will be in the "Sprite:" part. Click on the first palette and you'll see some numbers in "Value:".
It will show the color like this: 0x0F3C(this is just an example). Remove the 0x and do this:
0F3C
3C0F
Switch the two numbers in the value. Example:
7FE0 turns into E07F.

Write down all the colorcodes of your sprite(Example: Like this:3C0F0F3CE07F530EO600) in a notepad.
Then open your Hex editor and go to Edit where you will see "Find". Open that and write down the code. Search and find, when/if you find it go back to VBA and search the game(go to different levels and open the Palette Whiewer). When you see the perfect palette for your Fakemon, look at the first colorcode in the palette and translate it(Remember: 507A=7A50) then just replace the palettes you have found in the Hex editor code by code. But the game itself still doesn't load. It just sys that in bold red letters at the bottom (everything's white) and it dissapreres and nothing still happens.

Check the "Export Pallete" option when you are saving the picture to the ROM.
Also, don't add a transparency to the picture, as it will not work.

If you can't correct them by changing them back to what they were before in Advance-Map, you can try comparing the new values to the old ones with a Hex-Editor and change them back manually.

The reccomended format for Images is PNG, not GIF.
If the image is larger than before, you have to repoint it. Else it will overwrite the next Image, which will then get corrupted. (Or could turn out only Green like in your case.)

You have to add a setflag command which will activate the National dex.
Just take a look at the Script when you get the Nationaldex and copy the flag value to use it in your new command.

Just take a look at Advance/Elite-Maps INI file. There you will find the offsets.

That means that you did not define the colors used in the Image when you created it.
But if you used the original ones, just uncheck the "Export Pallete" box when you save your sprite to the rom and it should work.

It's not a single black pallete.
That pallete stores the colors of the gradient used in the intro aswell.
Just search for it as you would search for any other pallete, with the help of VBAs pallete viewer and a Hex-Editor.

It has nothing to do with the background-byte.
Just select your sand tile and place it on the "Bottom layer" of your tile. Then place the tile you want to have above it on the "Top layer" in the Block editor.

i get scripting but i'm a little mixed up on how to have a script like this:
The script is for receiving a Chikorita or a Cyndaquil based on gender. (credits to Dark_E)
My problem is that, the script works alright, but then when I open the Start Menu, Retire appears and asks if I want

I've read in certain places that a new version of Pokemap (called Pokemap Plus) would be coming out, with all the maps/events/triggers etc all put in for editing within Pokemon Red/Blue. Is there any truth to this?

If not, does anyone know anything about the formats used and offset locations for said events/triggers?

ok Can someone tell me the Page where I can Find out how to index sprites for unlZ gba?

First go to unLZ and find the sprite you want.Select save as and save it.Then open the saved pokemon sprite.Erase the other sprite first.With the pick color tool from paint do the background the same as before.Now paste the other pokemon you want to replace and make sure the background is the same as before.If the sprite you pasted hasn't got the same colors as the one you wanted to paste then paste the sprite before you change the background to green (or something else,most pics have green background)Then you go to unLZ import the pic you modified and write it into the rom.

Hi, how do i make Prof. Oak take you to a different spot after you walk in the grass at the start of the game? Because i have moved the Lab, and Prof. Oak still walks to the same spot as before and enters a warp that isn't there. How do i make him take me to the new place? Thanks.

A good tool is Advance Map 1.80/1.81 which works with emerald and you can change the wild pokemon you find in each place.
A good starter changer is DS starter changer.

I don't understand what you mean.If you mean the map is bigger you should make sure that in Settings>Map View Size nothing has a tick cause that enlarges the size of the map.

My friend, we can't help you if you don't want to change with hex. Go to the Documents section and learn HEX! It will make your work A LOT EASIER! Really, Starter changers can't edit your first battle etc. If you need to learn it, here's a tut how to change them in HEX. (http://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=61529)

i get scripting but i'm a little mixed up on how to have a script like this:
The script is for receiving a Chikorita or a Cyndaquil based on gender. (credits to Dark_E)
My problem is that, the script works alright, but then when I open the Start Menu, Retire appears and asks if I want
to go to the Safari Zone. You know when you go to the Safari Zone, your menu changes. And I don't know why it happened. Something wrong with the script?

2. Also when I compile a script into my rom I get this:

Those flags depend on the ROM you are using. In Ruby, the Pokémon Party flag is 800, in Emerald it is 860.

Again there are 2 kinds of tile changing.
Tile editing, and the actual tile changing.
If you want to edit Map tiles (as in Tileset editing), you have to export the tileset with unLZ-GBA, edit it (if Image export in an Image editing program, or if RAW dump in Tile Molester or TLP), then import them again.
If you just want to change the appearence of tiles in Map blocks, you can do that with Advance-Map's Block Editor.

Starter changing is one of the easiest things you can do with a Hex-Editor, and it's actually faster than using a Program.
See the R/S/E starter changing tutorial in the Tutorial forum.

You can change the Movement permissions on a Map if you use the "Movement permissions view" of Advance-Map.

Overworld Sprites can be edited by using either Spread, Overworld Sprite Editor or TLP/Tile Molester.

www.gamefaqs.com has some useful guide. There should be some containing the Route Pokémon aswell.

Simply go to the "Cheat list" menu of your VBA, click the button according to the cheat code type you want to enter (Gameshark, Codebreaker, ...) and enter the code.

Always use the official link from the Hacking Tools Reference.
The file is not corrupt, nor is it not working.
However, it has offset limitations.
So if you want to load a ROM that is not supported yet, you'll have to find the offsets yourself using a Hex-Editor. (Hint: Copy, Find, Write down.)

Type mismatch usually indicates wrong offsets.
To fix this, you would have to adjust the offset manually with a Hex-Editor.
Just load a supported ROM in it, go to the offsets mentioned in the INI, copy the bytes and search those bytes in the unsupported ROM, then write down the offset you find them at.

The Pokémon do not appear in the Sandstorm.
They appear on the Sand tiles, which were given the "Grass attribute" so Pokémon are able to appear on them.
You just have to adjust your tile's behaviour.

Make sure you stayed within the character limit of the Pokémon name and the Pokémon's Pokedex species.

There is no tool yet.
So you'll have to "hex it".
A nice tutorial has been posted in the Tutorial forum. It is actually easier than doing it with a program.

A Wild Pokémon Editor is included in Advance-Map and EliteMap (bewildered).

There is no 386 patch right now, all links to one are broken by now, so you would have to create your own.
(Which is not that difficult if you edit the WIld Pokémon on a Map.)

Just change the Wild Pokémon on the Maps. That way you can make your own 386 Patch.

Now for my question, to copy directly from my topic which nobody answered to =p:

"Okay, i've opened TLP and went to the offset where the badges are. I edited them to my liking and everything looked fine (I kept within the space limits, and even left the black line inbetween, as it is on the other badges)

But when I open the rom and look at the badges, they have random artifacts around the side, and through the centre is remains of the previous badge (I've even tried drawing over the black line, to no avail) and it even adds artifacts to the next badge along, even though I kept within the space limitations.

Anyone else know of this problem and how to fix it?"

EDIT - I have another question, when i try and open a ROM in PET, it comes up with a message that says pokeroms.ini not found download it at helmetedrodent.kickassgamers.com/pokemon. But there's nothing there. I really need help with this.
