View Full Version : Ghost photographed?

November 21st, 2006, 2:16 PM

So Britain has an awesome story to tell for once. I'm really glad this showed up somewhere...science has needed some photographic evidence for ghosts that is pretty conclusive for a while now.

What do you guys think?

I'm going to go with my belief that the image is a fake. It's no different than any other images of "ghosts" floating around, and the tragedy that took place years before could just be what the creators of the image intended to base it off of. I simply don't believe in ghosts.

Seriously, its called "pixel art" and "copying photos off the internet".

This was a headline on Unexplained-Mysteries...</plug> But yeah. If that is a fake, I'd really like to know how that was done. I think it would be pretty difficult...at least from my experience from image editing. Though I'm no expert.

I do believe in ghosts, by the way.

Doesn't make me a paranormal idiot who will believe anything, though...I've seen plenty of ghost pics, but I dunno, this one just stands out for some reason to me.

If this thing's for real, though, I'd like to know the heck these people don't notice these pictures until looking through them like 10 years later. Why doesn't something like that stand out? XD

To me it just looks like a reflection the camera lens was facing.

But IMO, it looks really, really fake.

November 22nd, 2006, 12:24 AM
Well it looks kind of fake...then again it looks ghostly o.o
I don't know but I think it's a fake ><;

I'm not sure if I believe in ghosts or not. I've heard stories of "encounters" from sources that I consider to be pretty reliable though. My sister used to waitress at an old resort which is rumored to be haunted. She has told me several stories that she has no explanation for, and which really freak me out.

Onto this situation, though. I really have no idea as to whether the image has been tampered with or not. Only the dude who took the picture and the dude in the picture know that. And if indeed they did edit the photo, they sure as heck aren't about to tell anyone. Obviously, in this day and age, it's not too difficult to alter images.

Here's a site (http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/farid/research/digitaltampering/) with a plethora of proven digitally tampered photographs, some of which were published in high profile magazines. Time, NewsWeek, and National Geographic to name a few.

This (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adnan_Hajj_photographs_controversy) is a very recent incident of photo doctoring. Adnan Hajj took a photo of the aftermath of a bombing in the Israel-Lebanon conflict earlier this year. The image was clearly altered to include additional smoke, as well as darkening the smoke overall to create a more dramatic effect on the viewer.

Clearly, digitally altering photographs is easier than ever. Whether or not this photo was altered with or not is only known by the two men involved. It would be interesting to see what an expert would have to say about it after examining it.

Aside from all of that though, is it just me or does the "ghost" in the image look like more of a male than a female?? o.o

I personally think that it's EXTREMELY FAKE.
Was it taken by a digital camera, though? The negative could prove otherwise.. or if he kept the photo on his camera that could be a different reason..

looks more like an old man to me, maybe some random person that walked past at the time, and they didn't see him/her (i know i sometimes miss details)

otherwise, it looks fake :cross-eye but i draw no complete conclusion or opinion until the truth is pulled out of the hat, if it is. unless said picture is proven to be real or unreal, i take no sides

I agree, I believe it's not actually a ghost.

Why would he want that picture of him not looking at the camera anyway?

November 22nd, 2006, 3:38 PM
I dont believe in the kind of ghost that just walks around like that. They have to have their head half torn off before I believe it. And besides, its just a guy in the background.

Yeah! I thought that was weird too!

And I'd give it a thumbs down on the "realistic looking factor."

I don't believe that's a ghost, since I don't believe in them anyway. It's weird if you read the other story (http://www.bbc.co.uk/southerncounties/content/articles/2005/08/12/sheffield_park_mystery_feature.shtml) though, since that would exclude the possibility of faking it with the computer, unless that family is part of the jokers.

Even though I believe in ghost it looks fake.

November 23rd, 2006, 5:54 AM
There could have just been someone outside their company who happened to be passing about. *shrugs*

I personally think that he either took the picture and then edited that pic of the lady in, or someone is really standing there and he is just claiming that she isn't to get a lot of attention.

You think? Its pretty much proven now...

well, you know, its just my opinion...

I know, but its not ghost. I'm just saying.

November 24th, 2006, 11:29 AM
Seriously, its called "pixel art" and "copying photos off the internet".

That isn't pixel art, if it is a fake, its called photo manipulation.
Pixel art is VERY different
(sorry, I'm a pixel artist)

I'm no believer in ghosts
but ya never know wether this is fake or real

Lord Mike
November 24th, 2006, 4:00 PM
Well, that's what I meant fyi.

November 24th, 2006, 7:44 PM
But you said it yourself that it was called pixel art...

And although I harbor some..belief in paranormal things, i.e. things that canot be explained rationally, I'll have to doubt this one. I've seen too many 'ghost' photographs and gradually none of them became plausible in my view.

'Though, pretty cool. =P

November 24th, 2006, 7:49 PM
Sweeties, can we say "photoshop"? =3

Well sweeties, I do believe in ghosts, but the picture looks fake to me.

Thats a fake someone had a very good photo program to make that

Yeah, the first thing I thought of when I first saw it was 'What's that old man doing there?' ...I don't believe in ghosts, and the ghost in general looks more like a guy then a girl. Besides, if you really look, it's got that weird effect you get when you try to edit something in around the chin and nose of the guy (Chris?)

So yeah. And I personally think the second story is sad, but is utterly un-related. But, we'll see. I'm actually interested in how this is gonna get busted out, even though I don't believe in ghosts. Ghost stories always interest me, as long as it's broad daylight. xD *shot* Doubter by day, Believer by night. xD

November 26th, 2006, 4:00 PM
Wow, utterly creepy. I also do not believe in ghosts, and anything related to the supernatural. It might have been an afterimage on the camera *maybe like hd tv's?* or a photoshopped image. Who knows

November 27th, 2006, 1:35 PM
It was just some nutty old lady running around, somone happened to take a photo, nothing strange.

I don't believe it. I believe it might be a real picture, not messed around with, and he's just lying, or its a fake picture and he's lying.

I don't really think the picture's tampered with, because it would be alot easier to throw an old lady in the picture and say that she wasn't there.

Or there could be the possibilty that he's telling the truth, and wasn't paying attention.

I'm going with the lying one.
