Driving in Limited Traffic

(Reuploaded; original post date August 20th, 2011.)

Today, my dad took my out practicing, with driving in limited traffic being the main focal point. I nervously was able to go out from the parking lot onto the street a few times, my dad fighting with the wheel to keep the car from bouncing off the curb.

Eventually, he told me to make a right from the parking lot, and told me to keep going. Fighting with the wheel to keep me from the cars on the right side of the road, he told me to drive from the parking lot, all the way home.

I was nervous to start, but I calmed down and gingerly drove home, my dad upset with me that I wasn't going fast enough that I was holding up people behind me.

My dad wants me to go out tomorrow, but I haven't gone out practicing two straight days, as well this way only my third day of practicing.

Driving too timidly will cause you to fail the test. You have to be decisive and quick-thinking while you drive.

While, I know you're just giving advice, give him time. Timidness is to be expected upon first learning how to drive, and no one is expected to not be timid about it on their second day unless you're like me and picked it up really quickly.

I'd say go for it. The most you practice the better you'll get at it and the less timid you'll become!
