So I was ruminating earlier this week about how I keep listening to the same music, how I rarely moving outside my comfort zone, and how I dismiss a lot of pop culture without really giving it a change. I decided that I would go out and sample a bunch of music I wasn't familiar with and I would start with the top 10 songs of 2011 according to Billboard.
First up was Adele with Rolling in the Deep.

Wow, I thought. I must have pop music all wrong. This is some good stuff and it's popular? I didn't think it was possible. Not only that, but it looks like people are embracing some great styles of music. And talent actually got someone to the top of the charts. Really, really amazing. Okay, bring on the next song!

Sometimes people want something that's just fun to dance. Not everyone wants a deep message when they get in the car or turn something on to create atmosphere. Music can be enjoyed on multiple levels... LMFAO is just a very, very superficial layer.
Wouldn't be topping the charts if it wasn't something most people enjoyed.Posted January 29th, 2012 at 3:55 PM by Hiidoran
