A Music Blog (#10: Strange town name)

Posted February 27th, 2012 at 3:47 AM by bobandbill

Firstly read this guys kthnx.

A while back I had a discussion with Razor Leaf about music and he reminded me that Fifa games tend to have a decent playlist (even if all that got played was only part of the song). They just worked well for the menu part of the game in which you were setting up your team and buying players...and waiting for the game to load...

Anyways, one of my favourites is '04 with that list, and so here's a song from that game. I suppose it would be better known for being in Billy Elliot too, but hey! Town Called Malice, by The Jam.

Lyrics:
Spoiler:
Better Stop dreaming of the quiet life cos it's the one we'll never know
And quit running for that runaway bus cos those rosey days are few
And stop apologising for the things you never done
‘Cos time is short and life is cruel
but it's up to us to change this town called malice.

Rows and rows of disused milkfloats stand dying in the dairy yard
And a hundred lonely housewives clutch empty milk bottles to their hearts
Hanging out their old love letters on the line to dry
It's enough to make you stop believing when tears come fast and furious
In a town called malice - Yeah-ea-eah!

Ba-Ba, Ba-Ba, Ba-da-Ba, Ba-Ba, Ba-Da--Ba! Whoah!
Ba-Ba, Ba-Ba, Ba-da-Ba, Ba-Ba, Ba-Da--Ba!

Struggle after struggle, year after year
The atmosphere's a fine blend of ice
I'm almost stone cold dead in a town called malice
Oo-ooh! Yeah!

A whole street’s belief in Sunday's roast beef
Gets stashed against the Co-Op
To either cut down on beer or the kids new gear
It's a big decision in a town called malice
Oo-ooh! Yeah!

The ghost of a steam train echoes down my track
It’s at the moment bound for nowhere just going round and round,Ohh
Playground kids and creaking swings, lost laughter in the breeze
I could go on for hours and I probably will but,
I'd sooner put some joy back into this town called malice.
Yeah-ea-eah!

It’s a Town called malice - Yeah-ea-eah!

Whoooh!

It’s a Town called malice – Whoooh-Yeah!

TBH it's not my most favourite song by itself (some of me liking it is the nostalgia of playing Fifa, haha) but it's nice and upbeat and fun to listen to (it kinda makes you want to dance), so that's enough to get a mention today. =p The lyrics are pretty decent too imo!

Used to love The Jam. Not so much anymore, still got plenty of nostalgia though.

That was a pretty jazzy tune. Unfortunately, I just listened to "The Safety Dance" before this and that's a tough act to follow. =P Good song though.

That is also a decent song there, although I personally like Town Called Malice the best.
