So about that KH3D English port...

There's finally an English dubbed trailer released. I think it's the one they released on Valentine's Day in Japan with a little extra clips.
Really diggin' YMX's voice-- David Gallagher's take on it is honestly almost exactly what I expected it to be, albeit a little more flat and emotionless in tone than I hoped. :X

I dunno... about the only ones that sounded relatively "meh" to me were the Disney characters themselves like Quasimodo. Most of the Tron characters actually were kinda SUPPOSED to sound relatively emotionless aside from Sam and Qorra. Flynn had the whole zen thing going on and the rest of 'em were all programs. As for the Square characters themselves, yeah... most of the villains who spoke did seem pretty emotionless aside from Braig/Xigbar/whoever the heck he is now, but I think, well, that's probably because those characters are either without hearts (supposedly... >.>) or have messed with their hearts or something, no? No heart = no emotions in the KH canon, so it'd make sense.
As for the translation, well... Idk. Wouldn't know myself. Don't know Japanese enough to understand/translate, soo....
Also there's that whole thing of not wanting to ruin the English version just because of potential discrepancies that might occur in the translating. When it comes to language translations, there's almost always gonna be some minor problems with complex sentences and how they're spoken in a given situation that changes context, especially with the ENGLISH language of all things =bPosted May 15th, 2012 at 7:20 PM by Riku -
I thought the Disney characters sounded okay. But maybe the real problem was more that everything sounded disjointed. Each line on its own was delivered okay but put together, they don't really sound like they're talking to each other. I noticed it especially with Sora talking to Quasimodo in the square. @[email protected] I dunno, I didn't notice any of that in the Japanese version but maybe I'm just picky with voices? (Well, I know I am, but maybe that's all this is. XD)
;P I only complain because Axel's said the phrase enough that I've memorized the Japanese words too and Roxas uses a different tense. It definitely stood out so I was hoping they'd keep it, haha.Posted May 15th, 2012 at 8:48 PM by Cherrim
