Perils in Colour Guard

Wednesday afternoon ROTC Colour Guard was an incredible mess. Why? A corporal named Tate was left in charge.

She's one of those manipulative ****s that would rather usurp her way into a commanding position than earn it fair and square. And I'm glad she's like that, since everyone other than a LET-2 PFC named Davidson sucks up to her unofficial and assumed authoritah.

Why is that good? Rucker (LET-2 1st Lt.), the current Colour Guard commander has made a joint decision with the. Colonel (Lt. Colonel Oetjen, Senior ROTC instructor, has power over even the two Sergeant Major instructors) that Tate will never be in charge of anything ever again. What does that mean?

A few weeks ago Rucker told me in cognito that his recommendation for commander next year is a total toss-up. Considering Tate's out out of the question, the XO, White, is constantly injured and is Tate's BFF, LeBlanc is (essentially) Tate's *****, and Gurr is basically a Tate-in-the-making, there's no-one but me and Davidson and I'm the only freshman left in the team currently, who's left but me, Rose, to comnand?

Now, what incredibly awful thing happened that afternoon that got her in so much trouble?

She pretty much blew practice that day as acting commander. After about two runthroughs of standard colour guard procedures, I'm standing there halfway through unsling arms without a clue what I'm doing. Gurr had the sense to mention to her that I was lost, but she replied with "He'll figure it out on his own". Davidson just BSed it onto his shoulder with both sling and unsling. Tate continued to abuse Colour Guard practice as her social hour - in uniform no less - and when "practice" waa over, Gurr, seemingly knowing I was stung by what just occured, said to me as I pulled out my snack from Student Union "You seriously got that?"

Furious over the whole mess, I end up chasing Rucker around A-Wing only to give up to look for Colonel. I get to the doors of C-Wing only to catch him leaving.

I still forgot the next morning to tell Colonel and Rucker that they went under arms twice with their garrison caps off
