April Fool's Day is different for me.

Posted April 1st, 2013 at 10:18 PM by Treecko

I thought I share somethings. Not trying to create a big pity party, but I thought I share my thoughts.

April Fool's Day had always been different for me. 13 years ago on April 1st, my mom passed away. My dad found her not breathing on their bed at midnight. He woke me and my brother's up hours later and told us the news. When I came downstairs, I saw my Nana, uncle Mike, aunt Betty, aunt Mary Ann and aunt Lil in the kitchen. My nana was in tears. I was 8 years old but I knew what was happening. To make us feel better , my aunt Betty took me and my brothers to Burger King for lunch that day. We each got happy meals and they happened to had special Pokemon toys. which cheered me up a bit. The funeral was awful and I cried a lot. I also remember bring my Game Boy Color to the wake and playing Pokemon Red, but I was still crying and really devastated. And to this day, I remember her more than focusing on April Fool's pranks.

Despite all this , I do still try to not let the tragedy of the day get to me and I learn to enjoy any AF prank that happens. I loved PC's prank. It was hilarious being a Pokemon and I love how it was all random. I managed to get two Pokemon I wanted.
A shiny Arceus and a Treecko.

Loved Google's prank too. Google Nose was hilarious and the video made me crack up. Image if it were real. You'd see people sniffing their phones, laptops, tablets and computers all the time. It would be hilarious. XD

Though even if it's a day for pranks, I still take time in my day to remember my mom. Who i loved so much. Hope to see you again mom. Hoping you're with God in heaven.

I lost my mother three years ago on June 6th. On the day my mother died, I was celebrating my one year anniversary with my boyfriend. These days, that are supposed to be symbolic of happiness.. elation.. harmless fun.. they will always mean different things for those who grieve the loss of a parent.

But your bereavement in either happiness or sadness is between you and your mother, and no one else. So, take the time you need, because no one will think less of you, and know that you're not alone. :)

The closest person I've ever lost was my uncle and that was a couple of weeks prior to my 18th birthday. I learnt alot of him as a person aswell as myself. Death is apart of life and it's how we handle them that shows our true character.

It's good that you take the time to remember your mother and whilst it happened on an unfortunate day like April Fool's, you still try to enjoy the festivities of the day. I'm sorry for your loss, mate. If you ever need to chat, you can always message me (:

This is an interesting read. Thank you for sharing that. :) I can relate to you a bit. I lost my paw paw (grandfather lol...I'm southern) the day after Father's Day. I was working on Father's Day, and I knew his health was getting worse cause he didn't even say bye when I left that morning. So the whole day I was at work, I couldn't help but think I should have been back at home with him and my family...but at the same time, I knew he would want me to be at work. He liked making money...so yeah haha.

I got home and he ended up trying to get up out of his bed and spitting up. It was a hard sight to see. At one point he grabbed my hand and asked me to pull him up, and I gotta say, for someone that was in such weak health, that was the strongest grip anyone's ever had on my hand. It was so hard to just shake my head, say no, and let go cause I couldn't let him out of his bed.

He passed away the next day when most of the family was there. I was rubbing his feet when he went.

But enough of that. That's my story for ya. I'm glad you can reflect on your mom in a positive way. It hasn't been a year yet since my paw paw passed, but when it gets to that point, I'm sure it will be hard. His birthday is coming up actually. But yeah, reflecting on people you've lost in a positive way always helps. My family has a...weird way of grieving. We kinda make fun of whoever passed away and imitate them haha. I've always found that humor is very helpful.

I'm gonna stop rambling now. n__n Glad you got the Pokemon you liked btw! That was a fun AFD. :)
