I don't expect to post many blogs, but they're here, might as well use them.

Finally acknowledging that it's cold?

Posted January 27th, 2014 at 7:47 PM by Flushed

Haven't found anything to really talk about for my first blog entry. I guess the weather is the perfect ice breaker (lolol it's funny 'cause it's cold outside).

So my university just cancelled classes due to inclement weather for the first time since 1978. Interesting that my first year this happens, I must be some sort of wizard. But anyways, I'm kind of confused about the whole situation. I understand the there are certain university services that must remain open (I think patient care is one of the big ones here), but I'm interested in knowing exactly why they chose now to cancel classes. Staff must still report, which, from what I've read, at least a couple people are angry about. The point was brought up that if the weather was not so bad that the staff had to work, then certainly the students should have to attend classes, which, begrudgingly, I can still sympathize with.

Regardless, I'm thankful I won't have to drag my way through the vortex, but I'll certainly be thinking of all those that still do.

Not really sure what the deal is with these blogs. So I guess I'll just end it here and wish safe passage to anyone still stuck in the midst of the unforgiving winter.

It's supposed to be as low as -30F/-34C. I mean if you really want to trade, by all means.
