Have you ever had this moment when you accidentally stumble upon pictures of your ex and have this sudden surge of emotions? Well, that's what's happening to me right now. It probably won't do me much, but I just feel like typing out my emotions because that's just a medium in which I can see myself venting into.

How do you handle getting over a relationship? I guess it would be best to give a little background on myself. Recently, I've had a string of bad luck when it comes to others of the opposite sex. Some of it is my fault, some of it is not. I'm guilty of saying that some of them were merely physical attachments. By stating this, I'm probably putting myself in a self-demonizing position but I promise you I'm not a bad guy. The agreements were mutual so I was not in the wrong. However, this time around I had finally met someone that I genuinely yearned to be with. It was one of those things where - for protection of her identity gonna call her Girl X - I would smile everytime I got a text from her, laughed at every corny joke she made, and savored every moment that I spent with her. For the first time in over 2 years, I was genuinely happy.

Then things went askew suddenly. After taking her to see a movie and we said our goodbyes, she texted me later that night saying things needed to end. She said that I done everything right, but she wasn't good enough for me. Now, usually I'm a genuine man and I respect my counterparts wishes, knowing fairly well that I will lose her in the hopes that she can find someone who can provide what which I cannot. However, this time around I panicked. I was afraid to lose something that I truly cared about that I hadn't had in a very long time. A few days passed before I ended up imploding; I started saying things that was characterized by my frustration and sadness at the time. Although I did immediately hate myself for chastising what was happening, it eventually turned into an uplifting experience; I had felt that a great burden had been uprooted and I was free from what was plaguing me. However, like I previously stated, that was a false mood. I still regret it to this day, and question whether or not I eventually will find someone that can take the place of Girl X.

Spoiler:

Time supposedly heals the soul. But how much time should it really take? I know that I need to be patient, but unfortunately I am a very stubborn guinea. I guess what I'm asking is this...has anyone ever been in a similar position? How do you handle a bad break up? Does the person linger on your mind, or do you find someway to move on? Any advice is greatly appreciated, and I'd love to hear some of your responses.
