I was bored. Wrote a really short story.
I awoke with a jolt from the distinct sound of a door slamming shut. I had dozed off. How could I do such a thing?!
They were already here. And I had to leave. I hadn't planned on staying long enough for them to come back.
My eyes darted around the room for a place to hide, or a window I could use to leave without them noticing, even though I knew better. There weren't any windows or closets in the room. I turned my attention to the bed, but it was too low to crawl under.
"What do I do?!" I asked myself while my eyes scanned the room for opportunity.
Footsteps began echoing throughout the quiet house. The room was just at the top of the stairs, which were just in front of the front door. It was only a matter of time before they would get to me.
"Julia!" She shouted.
She received no reply.
"Julia!" She shouted again. She rushed up the stairs to see what was the matter. The door was closed and the light was on.
I had anticipated this, but didn't have a plan of action. The footsteps were getting closer.
The doorknob began to turn. My heart sank and panic took control. I did the only thing I could think of.
"Julia, are you doing your---"
"Move and your daughter's dead!" I shout with my pistol pressed against her daughter's temple.
