Journalister - Get paid to write

Posted January 9th, 2015 at 3:45 PM by Sonata

This is a project that I find pretty interesting, because I do like to write, and I know there's a good handful or so of people on PC that also enjoy writing. But anywho, this is straight from their webpage.

Journalister is a work in progress, a labor of love, and is taking some time. We are finally really close to a launch.
Journalister is a website that, when launched, will allow you to set up an account. From there you can upload (or use our built-in word processor to write) your work and submit it for publication on the website. People will be able to browse by genre, by length, and by a number of other variables. You will be able to rate, comment, and talk with other writers and have a real sense of community.
What sets us apart from other services that are similar is our payment system. One of the hardest parts about being a writer is making an income. We plan to help with that. Thanks to our already in place advertisers, you will make a certain amount of income based on the popularity of your posts. The more people who read your work, the more you make.
We are building towards something big, hopefully. And we are excited to have you all be a part of it. The more you share your work with others and get them excited for the project, the more you stand to make.
If you have any questions beyond our FAQ, feel free to ask. Our inbox messages are all answered daily and we try and respond to everyone in the comments.

FAQs
Spoiler:
1. What is Journalister?
Journalister.co is new simple way for artists to share their writings and content from all genres.

2. Is this only for creative writing/fiction?
Will there be news and editorial pieces? We are absolutely going to have a news and op-ed sections. I believe there are a lot of people who can report on things that otherwise go unreported that need to get their voice out there.

3. When the website launches, will anyone be able to submit their writings?
Yes! When the website launches, you will be able to make an account with a few pieces of simple information and begin submitting your writing. It will be published on the site under your name and begin earning revenue.

4. Will I be able to submit poems/creepy stories/fantasy/game reviews/(insert genre here) ?
Yes. There will be no limitations on your creativity genre-wise. The only limitations will be on stuff not accepted by our advertisers. That includes pornography, blatant racism, and blatant homophobia.

5. What about people stealing our work? Do you have a way to stop that?
This is the internet. Content theft is a very real problem across the board. We can't promise people won't try and pass your work off as their own somewhere else. Since it will be published and dated under your name on Journalister.co we will make every effort to help you press the appropriate charges and win the case. We want to specify that we will NOT be engaging in any legal activities that involve legal fees, because we simply can not afford it.

6. Does it cost anything? What's the catch?
No catch! Our service will be 100% free. We have a dream to give a voice to those who otherwise would fall on deaf ears. The advertisers pay us (and you by proxy) and that gives us the chance to allow you the creative and financial freedom to write what you want.

7. How does making money work?
It's based on the revenue sharing concept. Ads are strategically placed on the site around your writing. Our advertisers pay us, and we then pay you according to the earnings you generated. So the more TRAFFIC your article pulls, the more you earn.

8. How will we get our money?
Paypal.

9. How often will we be paid?
We will work on a Net 30 system, the same as our advertisers. What this means, in laymen's terms, is the money you make this month is paid out next month. We will issue payments one day a month.

10. Is there a limit on the number of items I can write and submit?
No. Every account will have unlimited space. However, if you submit a whole bunch of crap, you can expect crap results. Quality will always win out over quantity.

11. Is there an age limit on who can join the site? Do I have to be 18+?
There will not be an age limit. With Paypal, however, you will have to have your parets' permission to use an account. If you're not worried about payment and just want to write, feel free. If you're concerned with the money, talk your parent or guardian, get a paypal account set up and enjoy the earnings.

12. Will you accept writing in French/Spanish/Portoguese/etc.?
At this time we will be an English-only website. As we expand, we hope to become global and have writers from various backgrounds and languages from all over the world.

The site now has a set launch date for the end of January.
