100,000 Gamerscore Achieved

Date: 23 March 2016

Mood: Coffeed up now!

It's been a long time coming, but I finally reached my gaming milestone. I've been associated with Xbox products for quite awhile now - six years to be exact. While I never owned an actual OG Xbox system, I do own an Xbox 360 and currently and Xbox One. The first Xbox 360 game I owned was Call of Duty World at War, which was also the first time that I had come across achievements. Long story short, I got super addicted with the concept of achievements, and now I'm happy to say that I'm sitting here with a Gamerscore of over 100,000.

For friends who do not know what I mean by "Gamerscore" or "achievements," let me break it down for you. Unlike say, Nintendo games, Xbox video games contain a list of things one needs to do within certain game that is point scaled. This checklist of actions, which could be anything from getting x amount of kills with a specific weapon or completing a story mission, are called "achievements." Each certain action or achievement will award you with a certain amount of points or "Gamerscore," which generally each game will have a total of 1000 Gamerscore. So, collectively over the years I have steadily accumulated a vast amount of Gamerscore to the point where I am now.

Admittedly, Gamerscore can sometimes also affect whether or not I want to play a game. I strive to try to perfect or get all of the achievements for a game, so certain dated games I may ignore mainly because either the achievements of the game are too hard or some of them are unobtainable at this point of time. For instance, a game that looked awesome at the time might be skippable in my mind because there are a bunch of multiplayer or co op achievements that are unobtainable due to the servers being shut down. On the flip side though, achievements have also allowed me to open my horizon to new games that I might otherwise not have played as much, such as the Binding of Isaac and Rogue Legacy, two indie games that I absolutely adore and consider gems.

While I just recently hit 100,000 Gamerscore, I don't plan on stopping there. I am continuously going back and playing games to try and perfect them/continue to get achievements for, and I don't see my love for playing video games dwindling anytime soon. Nonetheless, 150,000 is my next milestone, which I don't think will be too hard to obtain. What about you guys? Are you a gamer who strives to get achievements or trophies in video games, or do you just play leisurely? If you do try to get achievements, does that sway your opinion when it comes to purchasing a new or old game? Why do you play video games? Comment below as I'd love to hear and discuss with you what you have to say about this topic!

When I play Xbox games, I don't consider myself an Achievement Hunter. If I get an achievement, that is fine with me. Course just yesterday, my Gamerscore got somewhat past the 48000 mark.
