Late summer update

Posted August 13th, 2017 at 5:41 AM by Otter Mii-kun

You may or may not have noticed that I haven’t been making forum posts much less blogging here lately. Just want to let everyone know I’m still alive, but I’ve been busy with various things, not to mention that I’ve been kind of depressed at times over the past few months over how things have been going at home, as well as around the world.

First problem my mom and I have been dealing with is our neighbors. True, we’ve had to put up with them encroaching on what little property we do have since they came in like gangbusters in the summer of 2009, but they’ve been getting worse and worse every year since then, and this summer has been particularly bad, since they’re now taking care of some little girl (which I believe is foster care), since the woman who lives there is always taking this girl places, and gets her all kinds of toys and even has a bounce house that she inflates regularly on the side yard next to our house. Sure, I know, you probably want to say “can’t you do something about it?”, but in reality, we have nothing on that side of our house, since they’ve long claimed that our house is on their lot, even though nobody that ever lived there previously ever made a big stink about that piece of land on the side like that. To add insult to injury, it seems as if everybody in our town is friends with these neighbors of ours, which doesn’t help matters at all.

Indeed, between that, and the fact that I still have to be bullied occasionally around my neighborhood is enough to make my mom actually consider putting our house up for sale. I’ve been wanting to move out on my own myself, but I don’t really have the financial standing to do so. Besides, we’re not sure how much our house would actually sell for, although we have people praying for us that we can get things sorted out. It’s sad that we have to let go of all that we’ve put into our house, but the stress of dealing with things around our neighborhood has affected my mother’s health, to the point where she wakes up with headaches every single day (it especially doesn’t help that she’ll be 70 next year).

I know, people will tell us that we’re “not supposed to let our neighbors bother us”, but it’s impossible to ignore them when you’re so close, that you can hear what goes on next door even with all of our windows closed!

As for the bullying, it’s gotten to the point where I have kids following me around town sometimes when I walk, and ignoring them doesn’t work. Indeed, I was even called a freak by one of them one time, and then she called me “Frankenstein” more recently, or at least that’s what I thought I heard, since I had my earbuds on listening to music at that time! (C’mon! Just because I wear earbuds and have a music player with me doesn’t mean I’m Frankenstein!) I don’t know what these kids around here want out of me, or think I have something they want, but just because I don’t look my age doesn’t mean that you can bleeping follow me around town when I’m trying to mind my own business!

Finally, I do want to mention I might be taking a step up at work, but I don’t want to go too much in depth about this situation since nothing’s been finalized as of yet. One thing I will say, though, is that many of the staff that I work with have been wanting this for quite some time now. If this change does occur, I might talk about it a bit more in a future blog post.

Honestly, moving might actually be best-case scenario. If nobody cares to stop what bullying the neighborhood does, it might be time to just leave. I'm sorry I can't be optimistic.

Yes it s a good idea to move out, you can't change people's behaviours !

Thanks for the suggestions, but problem is, even finding somewhere else to live let alone moving out is much easier said than done. If I were to sign up for a subsidized apartment, the acceptance and opening process would take an incredibly long time, where in the meantime, I would continue to go through the same problems that I am now. The only other option being presented to me is to go into a group home, which I absolutely refuse to do.

I've actually been thinking of persistently begging my dad and two of my aunts (who all live in the same house that they grew up in, and their mother lived in until she died) to take me in, but there's a problem with that too-my cousin also lives there, and there's no room to put all my stuff there as well, along with everything that they have there already. I've been looking through all of my things, and have gotten rid of some stuff, but I can't seem to get rid of very much, as much as I feel I must purge my belongings.
I hope I can build up the courage to begin the process of begging my relatives to take me in. (I know doing such a thing is absolutely stupid, but these bullies are forcing my hand on this.)
