2012 brings new things to discover as well as uncertainty about the future. It also brings more of that 2012 doomsday BS that has been running rampant the past few years, despite common sense and scientists actually proving that the predicted Mayan doomsday will not happen! But that still doesn't stop idiots like Discovery Channel, History Channel, Patrick Geryl and other morons from continuing to shove their doomsday shows and books down our throats!
Since the world will end in 356 days from now (we are in a leap year, so we have the 29th of February), I've decided to have my own fun with this "phenomenon". Don't worry, I'm not going to talk about how the earth will suddenly reverse its magnetic fields or anything like that. I lack the intelligence to make sense of that stuff.
The reason for this title if I'm not going to talk about 2012? A certain 80's song that critics think is probably the worst song in history.

My Dad's not in good shape...

My 2009 has gotten worse. I thought being laid off at my job was bad, but nothing compared to the news we got about my Dad this past week.
During a routine blood test, the doctors there discovered that he has leukemia. They did say that it's in the early stages, but they didn't elaborate on it more. So, they transferred him to another hospital in the area that can have the specialists who deal with that sort of stuff.
Being laid off is one thing, having your Dad with a major illness that might kill him is even worse. Why doesn't 2009 throw me another ****ing curve ball and hit me right in the nuts for good measure?!!

Being someone on the other side of the coming hill, I can only say that your year will only get worse from here.Posted May 2nd, 2009 at 4:48 PM by Forci Stikane

It was not supposed to.Quote:
Hoping for the best may help in the immediate now, but cancer is still a very real danger, and things will get worse before they can get better. Of course, your father has a decent chance for survival thanks to this being caught early, but that is not a 100% chance, and should luck not turn out to be on your side, you should be ready for the chance that he might not survive.
In other words, spend the time that you have with him now in the best way that you can, while you still have it.Posted May 2nd, 2009 at 5:36 PM by Forci Stikane

*hugs* Omg, I am in total shock here. Well still am. I really hope your Dad pulls through. Leukemia is serious stuff. Thank goodness they caught it early. And you told me your Mom was overreacting about your dad not making it. He might have a chance. But I can relate the waiting and the tests. It is torture. Just hang in there. I am here.Posted May 8th, 2009 at 7:27 AM by Lucy Lu
