2012 brings new things to discover as well as uncertainty about the future. It also brings more of that 2012 doomsday BS that has been running rampant the past few years, despite common sense and scientists actually proving that the predicted Mayan doomsday will not happen! But that still doesn't stop idiots like Discovery Channel, History Channel, Patrick Geryl and other morons from continuing to shove their doomsday shows and books down our throats!

Since the world will end in 356 days from now (we are in a leap year, so we have the 29th of February), I've decided to have my own fun with this "phenomenon". Don't worry, I'm not going to talk about how the earth will suddenly reverse its magnetic fields or anything like that. I lack the intelligence to make sense of that stuff.

The reason for this title if I'm not going to talk about 2012? A certain 80's song that critics think is probably the worst song in history.

Remember what I said about my computer with Vista?

It seems like my endless journey in the world of computers has come to a happy ending for me.

With my old computer now free of all the bad stuff in it, I turned my attention to the new computer I got from Best Buy. As I said in a previous blog entry, my new computer has Windows Vista in it and it had some serious issues that made me hate the thing.

1. It took too long to load up when I started it.
2. Some of the programs my parents like to use don't work right for some reason.
3. I COULDN'T EVEN CONNECT ONLINE!!! It just didn't want to dial up when I put in a brand new version of the ISP I use.

So, I told my friend, the same friend who cleaned up my old computer and gave it everything good, to get rid of Vista and slap in XP. So, he suggested that he could slap in XP while leaving Vista alone. I don't know if you can install two different OS, but he said it's possible.

And this is when everything odd started.

When my friend put in XP and went to get all the major updates to it, he discovered the same problem I had when I tried to go online with my dial-up ISP. It didn't want to go online with his high speed connection. So, he tried to find out what was wrong and that is when he screwed up something and crashed the system.

He told me this and came by to put up the recovery discs that Geek Squad made when I first bought the computer. So, he put it in and when Vista was reinstalled, he discovered the main reason why he couldn't go online.

One of the drivers that handles online stuff was not there before. That means Geek Squad made a boo boo when they did the recovery stuff and added all the anti-virus adding stuff also. My friend told me that Vista was not working right at all because of that.

So, thanks to my friend again, my new computer is running 100% better than before. He can go online with his connection and everything. Plus, he added all the same anti-virus and anti-spyware stuff he added to my old computer as well, plus a newer version of Microsoft Word, which I need for NaNoWriMo in November. He hates Vista and he says he likes the way it runs on my new computer.

So, that issue is resolved. I now have a Vista computer that works!!! Now my next plan will being: Adding a video card that will allow my computer to connect to a TV so it can be used as a monitor.

I told you Vista wasn't the problem! XD; But yeah, it's not a bad operating system so I hope you warm up to it. Glad everything's working. ♥

Hooray! Vista wasn't the problem at all. Wow Greek Squad really messed up with this one. How can they forget something like that? XD

Well I am glad your new computer works now. Hmm, I guess I won't need to worry about Vista then.
