On the Day of Silence and Gay Rights
Tags day of silence
Edit: Me and the person in question have discussed and debated a while. I don't go back on what I said, but I don't intend to sound so horrible and cruel to NarutoActor. However, I will not edit what I wrote, because the majority of it is true.
^ It's posts like these that make me seriously understand how seriously freaking stupid people are. And I was wrong. I underestimated them, extremely. I want to reply to that idiot's(sorry, he's already out-rightly insulted my religion as well) quote with another quote from a much more intelligent person, BlueHighwind:
Today, April 16th, was the Day of Silence for the countless people who participated nationwide across the US. The main goal is to make a statement; to stop discrimination and people looking down upon who people choose to love and who not to on such an extreme level. For example, NarutoActor. I know this member's not the only one,and I apologize for drawing him out, or I would if he had any sense of decency himself, but he doesn't. If this entire debate wasn't Ad Hominem filled already then I wouldn't bring up the subject of attacking people rather than the argument at hand, but the two tie in here. People like NarutoActor, who outright stop and try to figuratively spit in people's faces just because they can. If this member truly thought homosexuality was an abomination, then he would have stuck to the facts, rather than try to make fun of minority groups. That's why I underestimated the stupidity of people, because that post up there really sent me off the edge.
But then again, why am I surprised at all, to be honest? The same happened with African Americans, Jews, Women, and is currently happening with Muslims. The cycle repeats for LGBT teens and all homosexual people around the globe. I feel that if NarutoActor's best friend were to say that s/he were homosexual, than, based on what his post says, that person would have lost his best friend. That's how bad this situation is, that's how bad people are afraid these days of something that's not like them.
One of my best friends is bisexual, and he's mainly the reason I kept silent all day today. It makes the situation feel real, and for those of you who don't think it is... I'm really sorry, I guess I can't change your opinion.
I'm disgusted.

Ew, they had this at my school. I was like ohh your being silent eh? Well this will be a great time to inform you that homosexuality is an abomination :3 haha they where getting so mad. I tried to see how many people I can make talk. I was getting quite good at it, I knew exactly what buttons to press. In totally I made 11 people break there row, shows how serious they where about that. :)
Quote:
I honestly cannot understand any sort of logical argument against same-sex marriage. In all disputes, I try to follow Atticus Finch's sage wisdom of "seeing both sides" but here I simply cannot wrap my head around the opposition's logic. Instead, all I see is an emotion: fear. Fear that the "gays" will get to marry and have families just like us. And even worse, such fears point further down into naked horrible intolerance of another group of human beings. Yes, there are many religious argument against same-sex marriage, but religion should never be any sort of justification for political policy. That right there is against every single political tradition we have in this country. George Washington may have been horrified by watching two men kiss, but I like to think he would be more horrified by watching legislators using the bible to decide things instead of the Constitution.
But then again, why am I surprised at all, to be honest? The same happened with African Americans, Jews, Women, and is currently happening with Muslims. The cycle repeats for LGBT teens and all homosexual people around the globe. That first quote you posted makes me embarrassed to even have a religion, which is the main reason I'm sure they did said that. If you're so "holy", you should know that God loves all his children. ALL. Gay, straight, homicidal, mentally challenged, what have you. That post just...reading it brings me to a boil. It's not like they were shoving anything down anyone's throat. There's nothing wrong with standing up for what you believe in. Absolutely nothing.
...
Just...ugh. Bad words...that's ignorant. You don't make 11 people break.
dsfjjsfkljdsfkljsj UGH.
Edit: The "you" isn't directed at you, it's directed at Narutowhatever. Ridiculous.Posted April 16th, 2010 at 7:45 PM by Sydian

NarutoActor is an idiot and judging from that quote, he obviously knows nothing at all. I'm Catholic/Christian, but I never judge anyone because of their sexuality. That's just wrong. It's like they're bringing segregation between blacks and whites back again. D:
Seriously, people these days need to learn, that being LGBT isn't an abomination. It's just the way people prefer to live their lives, and others should respect that.
I probably would've supported it, but three reasons made me not support it this year:
1) Didn't know it was today
2) parents would probably question me; awkward conversations are awkward
3) one of my friends who I hung out with today makes me laugh and talk a lot, so... epic fail for mePosted April 16th, 2010 at 11:23 PM by Tyrantrum
