THE INFERNO

Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'intrate!
A most eventful day.

So I slept in, because I was under the impression that I didn't have to show up to school until my History exam at 2:00. I hung around all morning and read manga studied. History, naturally. I somehow managed, in the middle of that, to learn the future tense in Spanish. idk how that happened. I was distracted. Speaking of manga, Black Cat is really good!
So I left for said exam at 11:30 (yes, that's two and a half hours before it began) because I couldn't stand mooching around the house any longer. Caught the bus, said hi to dad at work, dah de dah . . . Anyway, I took a shortcut through a little alleyway and happened on a bookstore that I vaguely remembered having been to before. I was browsing along the table out front when I happened across a book called Ireland Awakening. Twelve bucks, done. It covered one of the topics I was going to be tested on today, and even though I knew I wouldn't be able to read for long enough to learn anything from it, I bought it anyway. It was an omen, I'm sure. I'm not the superstitious type, but that book was my lucky charm this afternoon.
It must have worked, because the exam went excellently. The first standard was ye olde Source Interpretation. Basically, they give you a bunch of newspaper clippings, articles, photos etc relating to a certain topic, and ask you to . . . well, interpret them. This year's topic was the Mt Erebus disaster. For those who don't know, that was when a plane carrying 257 people hit a mountain in Antarctica, killing everyone on board. The 30th anniversary of the disaster is this Saturday, so I'm touched they put it in.
Then I interviewed Eamonn de Valera, Michael Collins and Sir David Lloyd George about the Anglo-Irish Treaty, which was fun. I remembered most of that stuff because we watched a movie on it in History class a few weeks ago. Liam Neeson (Qui-Gon Jinn) played Collins and Alan Rickman (Severus Snape) made a very good de Valera. :3 So that was fun.
Then I wrote an essay, but I didn't like the question on Ireland, so I did the Origins of WWII instead. Which sucked, because Ireland was the one I'd been studying for. So I had to fabricate a four-page essay out of vague scraps of information floating around in my head that may or may not have actually happened.
It was actually quite fun, in the end, although I had a mysterious stomach ache all the way through. I realised afterwards that it was most likely because I hadn't eaten since breakfast. (The exam ended at five. >_<) Still sore, actually. Waiting on the promised sausage, egg and chips so I can go to bed and write.
Oh yeah, writing! I took the last couple days off NaNo to study, but I plan to get right back into it tonight! As soon as this blog is posted, most likely. I have to say, though, I really hate the way the story played out now. It is so different to my original plan that I barely recognise it. Meh. So I'm just gonna reach 50,000, do whatever I need after that to reach the end of the book, and start my next project. In a year or so, I'll come back to this, dust it off, and see if I can salvage it. Probably not, but hey, we'll see.
I have millions of ideas clamouring to be put into my next novel. It's painfully ironic that the best thing to give you ideas for writing something is actually writing something different that you need to finish. Anyway, I'll post some here later and see what you guys think, because I know any advice I'm gonna get off you guys is going to be more sensible than that of my classmates, and more helpful than that of my family. Whom I love dearly, but are utterly useless when it comes to bouncing novel ideas off. :/
Anyway, it's the end of exams, yay~! I have one more day of classes, then a Drama field trip on Friday (to the local girls' school, of all places. idk.). Next week is 'camp', although due to my utter wussiness, I'm not actually going camping, per se. I get to turn up to school every day and make Italian food. Which will be fun. Because I like Italian food. Well, I like food. But especially Italian. :333

I can vouch for getting ideas while having a story you need to finish. Actually, I have two one shots to finish and I've been getting different ideas for different stories. >.>
WWII? Oh gawds, I remember I have to write an essay about that in my history class at uni two years ago. Luckily though I did well because the professor gave us the questions beforehand. And yeah, you should have just gone with Ireland. :P
Well, good luck with the finishing line of NaNo! An-chan beat you to it! D:Posted November 26th, 2009 at 8:54 PM by Bay
