2009 was a sucky year in some sense and great in others.

I know it's January 16th, but I want to reminisce anyway. I couldn't on the 1st. :(

The Bad:
+ The year went off to a great start as three weeks in, I ended up dropping out of school. My parents weren't exactly happy when they dropped me off only to drive back down a week later to pick me up with a car full of junk. :( I still don't have the funds to go back to school; I honestly wouldn't be surprised if I don't for a few more years.
+ Living at home was a mixed bag, for sure.
- One, I didn't have a room of my own. Not as bad when the basement was empty except for me; absolutely unlivable when kicked upstairs when the population of the house doubled. I slept in the living room everyone played in, and there were just too. many. people.
- Two, I lived in a small town and couldn't drive, meaning there was no job market for me, if I had even looked.
- Three, my parents gave me no incentive to look for a job. It basically led them into forcing me to work at my stepdad's failing business.
+ I worked a job for two months that I was overworked and not paid at all. It's great, working for your family. The drama comes home and you have nothing to show for it other than stories about how you don't miss your other job. Not to mention that if I had been getting paid for this job, I might've actually started paying back my school loans -- I still haven't paid anything back yet. Long story.
+ I had the worst luck with the Internet. Sometime in June, I think, my computer got hit (apparently) with some sort of virus that prevented use of my Ethernet port. Although I could access Internet at work, it wasn't feasible to work at PC, so I had to step down from the staff. Shot myself in the foot in several ways when I could come back, to the point that I don't think I will ever have an opportunity to come back this year. Moved in August; had some access via my sister's laptop, but didn't use it very much. Didn't get Internet on my computer until late October or so, but then screwed it up in December when I thought it would be fun to bend my wireless USB receiver, taking me out for another month. Honestly, I think I spent more of 2009 off the Internet than on it.

The Good:
+ Although writing before my job was typical, between not being able to access the TV to play video games, losing my Internet, and my first job not being busy at all, I got a lot of writing done. So much so, I finally finished off two of my series. I still am unused to not having major stories to write in that universe. (Except that I keep telling myself I have one more to do but that isn't helping me write it.)
+ I did move out in August to another state entirely. I lived with my sister, her (eventual) husband, and their kid. Sure, I didn't have a bedroom, and it came with a kid to babysit, but I honestly felt more useful there than at home. Not only that, but I was so tired of my parents place that I was only glad to leave when I did.
+ Because I was looking at moving out in December into my own place, and now that I lived in a proper city, I actually had motivation to find a job. Ended up getting one at a pizza place in the mall. I wouldn't call it my dream job, but considering I had basically no experience before this, I was willing to take what I can get. The people there are pretty fun, the work isn't hard, and the way schedule works out, I get a damn good amount of hours. Enough to survive, anyway.

Yeah, overall, I look at it as more negative than positive. I'm not an optimistic person and the first part of the year left me with nothing positive to look at. Over half of the year, I felt like absolute crap. But, after August 1st, it started to turn around. :)

Wow, so that is what happened to you in half of the year. Wow you had it rough. I am glad now it is getting better for you and you are back online. It seems 2009 wasn't a great year for everyone.

I would have died if I didn't have the internet for a year, atleast you managed to fill it with something constructive.

But yeah, 2009 was a terrible year, worse for some like you than others, but yeah terrible year.

I know you had some ups and downs, but you're still the same Sammi we all love and that I've admired since my newb days. <3

It doesn't see too bad to me, since I've had worse, aaaand I'm more like a glass full person. :)

    @ Lucy - I'm sure a lot of people had a good 2009; I just didn't happen to be one of them. XD;

@ Ramen! - You tend to get used to it after awhile. You learn to pick up other things, like video games, or writing, or maybe going out for a walk. Or something. It all depends. I mean, it's a shame I wasn't on the Internet for most of the time -- it sucks to be away from friends -- but there's more to life than staying at the computer.

@ Muzik - It really isn't that bad compared to what many others had gone through, but in my life, it was one of my worst. :/ That and I tend to whine a lot and blow things out of proportion. And I am most definitely a glass half-empty person. :(

Awww, well we do get our ups and downs. We just to brush ourselves up and move on. I know 2008 wasn't a good year from me. Because I had my purse stolen and I had to get everything new. It was so bad. And money has been tight on me. I know last year it was a bit tight. I need to get caught up with my bills. I really want to get my own townhome, but first I need to take care a few bills. But I know I will able to make it. I hope. So yeah I am glad now you are back online. And while you were away you found something else to pass the time. And sometimes that is good in a way.
