Today I finally reached Morty, and beat him on the first go. Quilava (Lv. 35) easily disposed of Gastly and both Haunters. Then it was the turn for Gengar, who killed my Quilava with two Shadow Balls, not before I had forced him to use his recovering items (a Sitrus Berry and a something-potion). So I sent Pidgey (he had grown up to level 11 since Whiney!) out to revive Quilava. But before I could switch them back, he used Mean Look on my Pidgey.
I started using Sand Attack to make the job easier for Quilava when he inevitably killed Pidgey... but then I realized that none of Gengar's attacks could do any damage to a Normal/Flying poke such as Pidgey. So I kept on using Gust, which did some crap damage to him, while he kept using Hypnosis and attacks that wouldn't do any damage. And, when his health bar reached the red zone, he already started using Struggle... causing his immediate death by recoil, while Pidgey clinched to life by 5 HP. Now he's level 13! :D
And you might wonder, "He's still fighting Morty? After a week of playing the game?" Well yeah. I blame Voltorb Flip. Voltorb Flip. It's so freaking addictive. Today I reached level 8 and I already have 15,000+ coins. Over fifteen freaking thousand coins. I think I'm going to buy a handful of Dratinis next time I go by the Game Corner (in a few hours, most likely).
