Sad news for Japanese-learners!

Posted June 10th, 2010 at 11:18 PM by Hiidoran

Yeah, so I just read that the Japanese Agency For Cultural Affairs is more than likely going to increasing the number of Joyo Kanji one needs to know in order to be "proficient" in the Japanese language. All you looking to take the JLPT, oh, we're gonna have even more fun! :D They're adding a total of 196 new Kanji to the list, making a total of 2,136.

For anyone learning Japanese, you know that Kanji is perhaps the hardest feat to master. Not just because of the sheer number of 'em, but because have multiple readings, and tend to change when in combination with other Kanji. Basically, it's a nightmare to learn. :P

/me goes to cry in a corner~

    :( Aww. I'm not a serious learner of Japanese (and I actually... like kanji more than pretty much everyone I know) but that sucks. XD;

    Not like I was learning Japanese anyways. As long as I can still decipher katakana and Hirogana, I can still decipher most Japanese things that interest me. XD
