N00b..
Okay well I know it's Christmas eve/ Christmas and I don't expect anyone to do this right now.
But I admit to being a total complete n00b for website graphicy-stuff. I've been wanting to set up a blogspot for my art @[email protected] I have a URL but.. I don't know how to make it pretty so I haven't actually posted to it yet. Heck I don't even know how to make my PC blog/ profile pretty. I just wanna know how to change some colours and maybe even stick a banner at the top ;_; I don't even know how to do that.
I want to be able to get my foot in the door with this stuff.. then maybe once I'm good with that then try setting up a simple site where I can just post my art.
If someone could help legitimately show me how to put a banner header thing in a blog and customize colours and stuff on a blogspot/ PC profile/ somewhere simple.. then I would be very grateful and will offer to draw you whatever you want :C..
Anyone up for the offer? ;_; I'm not that dumb I promise..

Well, customising colours is really easy on PC profiles.
You have your main, which, to me, isn't really necessary. Sure you have your background colour and hyperlink colour, but...idk.
Anywaaaaay, block borders can be really awesome if you have colours. The border colour is the inside of the border and the background colour is the outside (iirc or around the other way), though some like to set border colour as "transparent" and you'll still get a nice effect.
Major block headers is where the "visitor messages" tab is, the main one that you click., so whichever tab you click, you'll see your major block header.
Minor block headers = that line that says "send message" "usernotes" etc, as well as "albums, group memberships" and things along those lines. The minor block headers will also be the tabs that you haven't clicked, for example, visitor messages is the tab you clicked, so the rest of the tabs are in the minor block header colour.
Block footers...I can't really see any use to them, so I just usually set them the same as secondary content areas.
The primary content areas = background of your friends list, albums, as well as background of your vms.
Secondary content areas = the ones that says "show all albums" as well as display the usernames of those who sent your vms, as well as your current activity area.
and finally, controls = the text you write in, like if you wanna send a vm to yourself.
hope that makes sense. XD;Posted December 23rd, 2010 at 10:27 PM by Ho-Oh

Huh, I'm actually not sure how to do all those fancy things on different kinds of blogs, mostly because I haven't ever tried hard enough. I'm not really sure because usually when I make a website for my art (I've done this and scrapped them many times) I just go with pure HTML, CSS, and a free hosting service.
Bah, I don't know, but I think with most blog places it's beneficial to know some CSS?
Hm. I'm going to play with one of those blogs right now, because I've noticed that those DO look pretty good.
LATER:
For blogspot under designs, on page elements, when you click edit on the header you may add an image to it.
So blogspot looks like you can do a very fair bit of it's design custimization is in an easy to use interface of the Template Design, just in the advanced section, a little bit like PC's blogs options but some parts are easier. You also have an option to add CSS, which is nice.
NOW. About the placement of banners, it just adding a gadget called "HTML/Javascript" that lets you add any type of html for your posts. So you can just choose a design layout that has space on the sides and use an html gadget to add images.
I'm probably confusing you.
Here's just some quick playing (orz, I know it's ugly, but yeah haven't gotten there yet), tell me what other type of things you'd want and I'll figure out how to do them and see if I can explain it more thoroughly.Posted December 24th, 2010 at 10:31 AM by Nina

Haha just a sec, I'll see if I can get some screen shots for you.
EDIT: My computer screen is big, sorry if it breaks anything.
Lol, sorry if it's crappy. I don't don't really know how to do tutorials but I hope it helps. Ask me if you need help with anything else and I'll try and figure out how to do it.
