So, yes. This post'll probably be- Well, no, it'll definitely be short. Sweet? Probably not. Mainly because, as I'll discuss later, sweet things tend to be followed by gore and dismemberment. And... This won't be a review post. It'll be a Baseless Opinionated Rant Involving Neat-o Gingers post. Yes. It'll be a B.O.R.I-
Sonnovagun, it would be that, wouldn't it? Shanghai's luck suuuuuuuucks, everybody. D:
So, first, I shall discuss FLCL/Fooly Cooly/Furi Curi/WTF Did I Just Watch?
And by "discuss", I mean get your pointer off of that-
[SIZE=7]PUT IT ON THAT BACK BUTTON AGAIN. I DARE YOU.[/SIZE]
...now if you put it on the back button, kindly take it off. It's rude to threaten to leave as I am... Umm... As you are reading typed material. If you did not put it on the back button, have a cookie. Go on, bake yourself a batch. On your dime.
[I]After you're done reading.[/I]
As I was [I]saying[/I], I want to type and post my thoughts in the form of printed symbols about a show known as FLCL.
An [I]anime[/I] known as FLCL.
[IMG]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/f/fe/FLCL_image.jpg/230px-FLCL_image.jpg[/IMG]
So, yeah. Here goes.
First thing's first. [B]FLCL is weird.[/B] Very weird. Ultra-weird. The first episode involves a guy getting hit by a girl on a vespa, and giant robots. The second involves arson and robots. The third, drama and robots.
Yeah, you get it. It has robots. That sprout out of a kid's head. Because the girl on a vespa can make his head do that.
With me so far?
Neither am I. Words cannot describe the plot, or lack thereof. Wait, no. There actually is one, and therein lies the beauty. But I won't ruin it for you, though even knowing there is a plot spoils the plot. If you have a headache now, I don't recommend this show. Your brain will be in pieces by Episode 2.
Alright, next point. [B]FLCL makes great use of the art style.[/B] There's really no explaining this one, as I hate putting images in posts unless I absolutely have to.* Which I will later on, don't worry. But... Well... Watch the show. Even Episode 1 shows this fact within the first few moments.
Moving on.
[B]FLCL has The Pillows.[/B] Who are the Pillows?
America, you are The Pillows. Your mother, daughter, aunt, friend, teacher, mailman, congressman, mayor, wife, and grandfather are The Pillows. Together, The Pillows-
Wait, no. That's...
In fact, don't worry about it.
Anyway, The Pillows. They're awesome, or so I've heard. And I have heard. And I want to hear more. And more.
What?
They're a band. They do the FLCL soundtrack, with songs that match the mood perfectly. Watch the series, and you'll never be able to listen to the songs without a voice screaming "FURI CURI!" in your head. Repeatedly.
And, finally?
[B]FLCL makes sense.[/B] I'll leave this for you to figure out. When you do, then you will achieve Enlightenment. But it actually does. Don't try to understand until you're done.
Umm... next point. And this'll be more... Understandable? Because the series is. Sorta. It tries to be much more complicated than it really is, but that's like saying... I dunno... Pokemon SoulSilver tried to be more awesome than it really was. Because it was still pretty awesome.
Anyway. I'm going to first introduce this series.
[SIZE=6][I]In song![SIZE=2]
[/SIZE][/I][SIZE=2]I take out my cane and top hat...
Okay, no. Quite different. The opposite, actually... Anyway, listen. And cry. Well, not cry. Probably. If this makes you cry, I'm really sorry. D:
[/SIZE][/SIZE][YOUTUBE]v/aDM0P6TH1JI[/YOUTUBE]**
Okay. First thing you see: Blood-splattered Rena.
First thing you hear: Ominous... Umm... What exactly do you call that? I dunno. "Hoh~"? Yeah. Let's go with that. Then it suddenly breaks out into an in-your-face, loud, sorta-fast-paced-but-more-like-drugged speed.
Wait. That's brilliant. Drugged. Anyway.
The series is... pretty much like that. People may say I'm spoiling the first few episodes for you, but that'd be like getting mad at someone for spoiling the fact that
[SIZE=5]HARUHI SUZUMIYA IS GOD.[/SIZE]
You should know by now what you're getting into. Wait, if you watch the first ten seconds of the first episode, you know what you're getting into. But the rest of the episode might confuse you, and...
Screw it. On to my baseless opinions.
See, Higurashi isn't a show where people sit around and talk about life, philosophy, and conspiracy. Yes, there is a lot of talking, and much, much, much conspiracy, but a lot of it is psychotic, fairly creepy veiled threats. Also, by the middle of each arc, all hell breaks loose, and things just go downhill until the conclusion. Every time. Except for that one arc, but it was two episodes.
Anyway. Why I like Higurashi.
[B]Higurashi is funny.[/B] Yes, I know it's neither a comedy, nor a black comedy. I mean, it has lighter, comedic bits, but...
The point is, I'm a horrible person. Occasionally, there are some moments in Higurashi that are... just plain funny. In an awful, awful way.
However, getting drugged by schoolgirls, having needles baked into your foods, and beating people to death does not amuse me. Don't do it, kids. Stay in school. Where your friends will kill you. Good message. Yeah...
[B]Higurashi has a plot that wants to be understood, even if it's not comprehensible.[/B] Sorta like that sentence.
Higurashi is... a good series, in that it treats viewers in a fairly good way. They don't treat viewers like idiots by oversimplifying everything so it's blindingly obvious (Okay, they do sometimes. But still), but they don't assume too much by withholding fair hints.
Sure, the plot of Higurashi isn't really too hard to understand anyway (Well, the plot of each individual arc. Higurashi as a whole is just one big Mind Screw), but...
I typically space out my episodes in absurd ways, and I forget things. And I'm not that smart anyways. Sad face. D:
So, that's a point in its favor (Holy crap, I've been working on this for almost an hour). Note my complete professionalism and experience in reviewing.
*Gigglesnort*
Oh, what else...?
[B]Higurashi has a lot of horrible, awful violence and gore[/B] that makes Shanghai close his eyes and gasp in horror. No, really. The Sonozaki Shed (That sounds like a restaurant. I wouldn't eat there, if I were you...) made me squeal in terror. As did the first arc. I hate needles, and getting spiked through the fingers. D:
But... fortunately, discretion shots and fake-outs are common as well. So even a weak-stomached coward like me can enjoy the show. Goodness, I feel awful for saying that. T_T
And... [B]Higurashi is [I]oh so moe[/I].[/B] Killerlolislololol Killerlolislololol Killerlolislololol Killerlolislololol.
[/Higurashi]
What eeeeeeelllllllseeeeee.
Hey everybody, it's Shanghai Alice, here with a special announcement! [I]Boo! Hiss! Growl! Mrf! [/I]...y'all suck. But I shall persevere in the face of your meanness.
See, look at this blog. It looks great, right? Yeah? That's because, with your great design sense, you picked a good forum style. My blog is whatever you want it to be.
AND THAT TOTALLY CAN'T BE ALLOWED. BECAUSE MY BLOG IS MINE AND IT'S WHAT I WANT IT TO BE AND I WANT THE COLORS TO BE THE SAME NO MATTER WHO VIEWS IT BECAUSE I ROLL THAT WAY.
...so, yes.
Colors. Samson tastes them.
Umm... Yeah. So, I already asked Roswell to help me (Love ya, Roswell! *Awkward, one-sided high-five, and a creeped-out Roswell* Oh... *Puts hand back down*), but I'm a pig. I want an army.
And/or anyone who can give me any help in design, colors, etc.
Yeah.
But, there's one thing in particular. Well, actually. Three.
[CENTER][SIZE=5][B]Shanghai's Three Impossible [U]Requests.[/U][/B]
[/SIZE][/CENTER]
[CENTER]1. Look at this picture.
[IMG]http://forums.roempire.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=63157&d=1191997024[/IMG]
See that "Magician's Library" feel? I want that in my blog. Patchouli be damned, I just want the ambiance. Ooh. That's a big word. :D In particular, I need help picking out the colors. D:
2. Background image. I suck at choosing these... Any help would be appreciated.
3. The willingness to be paid in compliments and promises that will never be fulfilled. I mean, I'm no fool. I know that layouts take time. I'm not asking for anything superdy-duperdy great, but... Heck, this thing's taken me an hour. As a writer, I can appreciate that people put time and effort into things. So, yeah. Don't think that help will be unappreciated.
[LEFT]So, um, yeah. Complete those three impossible tasks, and I'll... No, I won't marry you. Sorry. D:
But but but... I will thank you. Maybe. If you do an amazing job, I may ironically not thank you because I'm too busy staring at the pretty screen.
Oh, and one last word before I go upstairs to [S]quietly die[/S] bed:
I have a cool hat. It's cool, and it's a hat. It looks like this:
[IMG]http://images.askmen.com/fashion/trends_60/pictures_60/84d_fashion_men.JPG[/IMG]
Actually, almost exactly like that.
So, yes. I have a cool hat. And I've been wearing it for a few hours, because I wear it at the computer.
...so, yes. My brain is finally giving out. Good night/morning, all.

*Yeah, I know that I've put some in this post. Shut up. D:
**While looking up how to use YouTube BBCode (I lurned nao, gaize!), I went to the FAQ, and read that a mod had to have the right assets. I giggled. My apologies.

First, throw that Magician's Library pic into your blog header.
Second, rows and rows of books.
Third, that takes effort, and I'm about to start Uni again XD
Personally like "You" as a favorite Higurashi song, thought that's in the image album
Eh, Higurashi Kai has a bit more plot to it with the answer arcs, especially near the end.
and then Rei...wasn't able to show a certain scene, though it was sort of implied...
Then there are some extra arcs that weren't in the anime :D
BTW Fun fact: Ryukishi07 took his general formula for Higurashi from Key games, which is why it's so similar, though with different types of impact values. In fact, Ryukishi07 is staff in Key's upcoming game, Rewrite :DPosted January 8th, 2011 at 9:17 PM by digi-kun

Hmmm... That might just work, actually...
I like this color scheme, though, admittedly, I was using... Generation InVerse, I think? The one with the changing colors...
Viewed my blog, and was all like, "THE COLORS ARE PERFECT!", and put them in as my blog colors.
Owait, PC is going to make image sizing a royal b- pain in the tuckus for me.
Joy, joy. Will get around to this later.Posted January 9th, 2011 at 12:28 AM by Shanghai Alice
