SCENE WORKFLOW COMPLETED!!!!!!!!!

For anyone who's wondering.. yes.. in 2D animation the animators have to draw, line, scan, and paint every single frame that goes by, and that's what I've had to do in the following video:

Needs some tweaks.. the H264 export sucked all the colour out of it @[email protected] But I wanted to change the colour a bit anyways since the spotlight isn't vibrant enough.. and her outline isn't dark enough..

I've also decided that I kinda want painterly texture overlays.. but overall I'm pretty glad on how it came out. I still like the pencil-test better.. but that's because I'm really picky with my final line and I personally think it boils a little..

The pencil test with final black line over scarlet red col-erase (it's in greyscale, though) is here if you're curious:

<3 Now onto the next scene!! 4 seconds down, a minute and 11 seconds to go!!

Also.. this is kinda random and unrelated.. but do you ever tend to make a post and feel really proud for what you had to say in that post? @[email protected] I have that once in a while.. when I feel like I could really communicate something effectively :3 I just enjoy it!

    I've been wondering that recently, seems like an utter pain. But I suppose animators know a few tips and tricks in order to speed up the process?

    As for the animation itself; It's good. I'm not an animator myself (oh my god that is so far out of my capabilities), but I reckon it's well done even if the program did murder the colour ;-;
    How long did it take you to do it?

    Well in most studios.. the animator doesn't final line their own work.. or do layouts/ paint the animation.. it's handed off to other people who's job it is to scan, paint, composite (put everything together) or put in the final thin line.

    I did 3 passes of this animation, because I was trying to figure out how to approach it. At first I had her change when she stepped into the light.. but I felt that it was wrong because it wasn't the light that changed her, it was her own feelings that she was aware of. The second pass was that she noticed she changed and like.. looked at her hands and stuff.. but then I realized it actually wasn't so literal.. she was just physically FEELING young on the inside (you find out that's what it's about in the end) so I did this final pass.. did my key poses.. and then in-betweened them.
    That took me about 2 and a half days (I was working about 8-12 hours a day besides my classes).. and clean-up (final line) scan, colour and composite took me another 2 and a half days.. so 5 days in total. (I actually work pretty fast..)

    I guess some people use cintiques (sorta like an advanced tablet-pc thing).. but for me it's more difficult because I like to go rough in my drawings to get the feel of it.. and if I were to do that digitally, it'd just get messy.

    Mine was done on paper and it's 103 frames long. Some of it's on "twos".. animation term.. hard to explain.. haha.. but.. I used Red-pencil first and black line overtop so that when you scan it, you remove the red and can leave just the black final line.

    Hope this gave you some insight! And thanks!

    Oh wow. That is truely amazing Kura, to be doing all that yourself o_o It is so time consuming, I'd never have the patience XD

    The clip so far is really good! I can't wait to see the final product!
