Decisions... decisions.

In any given day we are faced with many choices, all of which alter the course of our day and as an end result our life. Its kind of hard to think that one little choice can affect your life, but it can. Take for example today I was driving to school on the interstate. I was on the inside lane when a semi deiced he wanted the lane I was in more than I did. I was about ½ passed him when he made this decision. I had four possible choices.

1. Keep going: he’ll either notice me and stop changing lanes or he will make my compact car even more of a compact.

2. Accelerate: attempt to pass him before he fully merges into my lane, not likely considering I drive a compact sedan, not a sports car.

3. Merge left: Into the snow packed median, probably wouldn’t end well.

4. Slow down: slam on brake and hope that I can get behind him before he remodels the front end of my car.

I picked #4 with out even thinking about it. I slammed on my brakes, my car is in one piece and I’m still alive typing about this now. After the incident, I got to thinking how one little decision can snowball into a life chaining event. Its hard to think about the consequences of an action when you take one, especially when placed in a situation like I was today where a half a second could mean life, death, or sever injury. I don’t want to get you guys all paranoid about each and every little decision that you make but this is just a little musing I had today that I wanted to share. Good night and good luck on any future decisions you make.

It's moments like this in life that make one all the more reflective about the little things in life eh? Good to know that you came out of that well though, I'm pretty sure you had a few ~choice~ words reserved for that idiot, you know...the kinds of words we don't dare utter in polite company? ;)
