Welcome to the blog! I'm Rachel, and I hope my blogs interest you somewhat. They're mainly just streams of consciousness that happen whenever I think of an idea, but I try to be topical from time to time. :)
I Got Me a Job

J Sainsburys PLC had the courtesy to accept my application to be a General Assistant, and now I've got a uniform and a spiffy name badge and everything. The job's a bit of a chore - stocking shelves in the fresh food section of the store for 12 hours a week - but the people I've met are very welcoming.
I had my induction a couple of weeks back, and met ten other people who were starting different jobs at the same time as me. I've seen a few of them since, which is nice, as I got to know them all and sadly few of our shifts overlap.
It gets me £5.30 / $8.70 / €6.20 an hour, or £254.40 / $417.60 / €297.60 a month. Terrible for a proper job, but fantastic for me as it's more money than I've ever had and will allow me to save up enough for my university fees by the time I start :)
It's extremely extremely extremely annoying to have to leave places early the night before work, but I do get a bit of a maturity kick out of saying "Sorry I can't stay late, I've got work in the morning."
Yay for my sort of entry into the adult world. :)

I been working at the same grocery store for 10 years, and I make about $12 an hour. I stared a bagger and I am a cashier. So yeah I had to work hard to get where I am now. And I love my job.
Congrats of getting the job. You will be able to have your own money and don't have to rely on your parents. ^^Posted July 2nd, 2009 at 5:38 PM by Lucy Lu
