Yes, it's a smiley.
Today was a good day.
Firstly, I got a top mark for my English essay, plus a green referral (which is basically a slip of paper that tells me I'm awesome but has no other discernible purpose).
Secondly, I had a haircut which I actually don't mind. I usually hate my haircuts, so this is a nice change.
Thirdly, we had a very sweet Anzac Day middle school assembly today. Very sad. I nearly cried, but that would have been weird at an all-boys' school, right?
Fourthly, we had a massive Mario Kart DS tourney at lunchtime, and it was epic. I was leading for most of it, but Caliban got in ahead of me by just a few points by the bell. :( Still great fun though; about five of us were playing.
Fifthly, I had a test in Maths today. I don't like tests or Maths, but it was good because it was Number, which was easy. Only problem was that goddamn inverse variation, but I think I nailed it. So unless I made a stupid mistake somewhere, I think I might have aced the test. Maybe. Unless showing working was worth marks, in which case I'm screwed because I never bother. But either way, I feel good about it.
Sixthly, and most awesomely, I had badminton today (being Wednesday). FYI, just having badminton would have made it a good day by itself. So anyway, badminton was awesome, as usual, and Georgia doesn't scare me quite so much now. idk why. /longstory
Six-and-a-halfthly, I made a challenge against one of the guys higher up on the ladder (didn't actually check where) and won. Turned out he was the second-ranked player, so . . . hee hee. Now I am. Still not sure how. It was kind of a weird match . . . it seemed like half the club was sitting behind me shouting advice or support. I'm sure they were meant to be on other courts, playing or something, but . . . I appreciated it. I've only been at the club a few weeks, and I only knew one person when I started - the aforementioned Georgia - who scared the hell out of me. Still kinda does. So yeah, it was nice to feel part of the group.
Kinda distracting, though.
"Don't hit it down the middle! Hit it to the sides of the court!" - Georgia
"Lift your big feet!" - Gee, thanks, Gwen
"Ooh, hard luck, Thomas!" - Georgia again, after every other damn point >:/
"You can beat him, Thomas!" or some variation thereof - many different people
I had to close my eyes and sing Airplanes - out loud - to make myself concentrate.
So how's my life been recently? Pretty damn good, actually. I made a resolution before this term started: to be in a good mood all day, every day. Let me tell you, it's damn hard, but it makes me feel so much better. And days like today just make it all worth it.
Tomorrow will also be a good day! It's Thursday, which means school finishes an hour and five earlier. After school, I'm playing badminton again (huzzah!) at school this time. I think I just gotta hit some shuttles so the teacher in charge can decide which division to put me into. I'm thinking Division 2 (out of 3) though Division 1 would be nice, if a bit stressful. After that, I have an eye test, where I'm going to look at getting contacts for playing sport.
Yeah, my life is starting to revolve around badminton, though I currently only play one night a week (hopefully two nights soon). I've never been the sporty type, so it feels great to find a sport I can enjoy, and one that I'm actually pretty good at (I think). I've tried a few sports, but this is the first one where I can go out, play for two hours, thoroughly wear myself out, and feel like it was worth it. My feet are killing me right now, so I'm going to bed straight after writing this blog. But you know what? That's good. I know I'll sleep soundly tonight, and I'll be looking forward to tomorrow, which is more than can be said for most evenings. BD
Oh, my internet's not working. That's just great. Well, not much could dampen my mood now. :3 I'll just keep reconnecting until I can post this. Good night!
OK, fine, I'll post it in the morning. Just pretend I posted it now.
