I never thought I'd say this since I live in Kansas

But there was an earthquake. Apparently a 5.2 somewhere in Oklahoma. Shook the apartment for like 3 seconds. It was so mild I was like "...not sure if earthquake or if neighbors are roughhousing downstairs. :s" Then I saw my sister talk about it over Twitter and I was like "I'll be damned."
This wasn't my first -- I lived in Japan when I was a kid. There was one that happened like a month after we'd moved there. I remember looking out the window and watching stuff shake. I wasn't a smart kid. :p
Anyone else in the Midwest feel it?

I heard it was felt that far out as well. Maybe someone wasn't happy about football last night?Quote:
After some quick Googling, it sounds like we have the Humboldt Fault to blame. I knew there was a fault nearby our town (they had to fix our dam just in case of major earthquakes) but I'd never bothered to look it up until 5 minutes ago. Didn't know it stretched over 3 states. :pQuote:
They upgraded it? It went from like 5.8 to 5.2 last night.Quote:It was upgraded to 5.6 biggest in state history(that is recorded). We had another one 4.0 at 3:39 this morning I believe. And the night before we had one 4.7 at 2:19 in the morning. Pretty crazy considering I live in OK. Must of have celebrating OSU victory of Kansas State xD.
As someone that lives in Manhattan, I am not sure if I should say "oh snap" or sadface at you. XDPosted November 6th, 2011 at 6:05 PM by Sammi

Kansas and Oklahoma aren't exactly known for earthquakes. This is exciting news for us. XD; It was really weak when it reached me but it caught me so off-guard I had to blog. I honestly never expected to feel another earthquake again.Quote:
Some of my co-workers didn't either. But they were also drunk...Posted November 7th, 2011 at 4:51 PM by Sammi
