Something a bit different now from previous songs thus far. It even has some rap, which isn't a genre I am particularly found of but it works here imo. Choosing it simply because it's what I am listening to atm. =p
On that note, I don't think this is a song to be simply listened to as well, but rather one to be watched at the same time. Such is the Gorillaz though. Warning - some swears. Egads. I'd call it relatively mild though.

Lyrics:
I suppose my favourite thing about it the whole structure to it and how it works with the theme of the lyrics for each segment, and hence why I like the rap of it. The beginning is not that amazing first time listening to it, but it fits darn well with what's being said. And then the chorus comes with the arrival of magical floating island and it sounds so much happier... only for the rap to come and bring the guy back to earth, so to speak, along with the laughter that just adds that bit extra. The grim parts of the song feel grim. It becomes more of a piece of art, imo, as daggy or cliche as that might sound. Then you add in an entertaining video to accompany it and bingo.
Lyrically... it's fairly strong, really. The words flow and aren't meaningless either. Wikipedia will tell you an awful lot on what the song means but the general gist is that they're trapped in the Feel Good Inc. world, which isn't as good as one of them realises. The video illustrates that enough. One of the band members is free though on awesome floating island while the lyrics state that 'Love forever love is free' and 'is everyone in?'. Sadly... the answer is seemingly no. 3:20-3:25 sums it up well visually, really.
I also like that during such parts 'Feel Good' is repeated - he's trying to reassure himself all is fine as it is, even though it isn't.
At any rate, I like the song. =p Not so much for the sound itself (and some bits of that I love, mind), but more for how the sound works with the words.

You say this as if this is the first video I posted that is modern. Silverchair and Pete Murray isn't modern? =p
That would be an interesting ringtone... 'HAHAHAHAHAHAHA'. XDQuote:I remember when this came out. iirc, it was the first ringtone I ever used on my first cellphone that wasn't one of the defaults. Good times. Gooooood times.
Yeah, the same for me - I didn't like it the first time I listened to the beginning but on the whole it's a good piece imo.Quote:It's been a while since I saw the music video. Didn't remember the floating island, LOL. Took me a while to warm up to the song, but I quite like it a lot.Posted February 19th, 2012 at 5:18 PM by bobandbill
